Weird, sad place

A very strange hotel. On paper looks fantastic but was actually very tired and seemed quite empty. It is an ambitious hotel development gone wrong. One or two wings were closed almost falling down. The pool was closed. I don’t recommend the breakfast. Everything was shut by 10pm.

Espaces extérieurs et installations
L’état général de la propriété ne correspond absolument pas aux photos présentées sur votre site internet. Les jardins et le parcours de golf manquent manifestement d’entretien : haies non taillées, fairways à l’abandon, peintures extérieures défraîchies. La piscine extérieure était fermée durant notre séjour, nous privant ainsi d’un équipement essentiel.
Installations aquatiques et bien-être
Concernant la piscine intérieure, l’eau était froide et aucune serviette n’était mise à disposition. Le sauna et le hammam étaient également fermés. À l’extérieur, seulement dix chaises longues étaient disponibles, la plupart étant constamment occupées.
Restauration et services
Seule la brasserie était ouverte, proposant un menu unique sans alternative, avec de nombreux vins indisponibles. L’autre restaurant et bar étaient fermés, ce qui est difficilement acceptable en pleine saison touristique. Le dimanche, lors de notre commande de cocktails pour cinq personnes, nous avons appris qu’il n’y avait même plus de cacahuètes , la prochaine livraison étant prévue le lundi, absolument ridicule.
Hébergement
Notre chambre 105 présentait un état vétuste. La salle de bain nécessite une rénovation urgente : présence de moisissures sur la baignoire, évacuation défaillante du lavabo et de la baignoire, douche fonctionnant mal en raison d’un robinet défectueux.( voir photos). Restauration

Great value in the Medoc

Considering the price, this was a great value option in the Medoc wine region. The hotel is a little dated but clean and well maintained. The reception staff are great.

The only thing that could have improved our stay was having more to do around the hotel with young children. With the outdoor pool out of action we were able to use the indoor pool at lunchtime and dinner time each day but otherwise there wasn't much to do. It would be great for example if they could install some petanque courts and provide the equipment. Also more bikes, we were interested in hiring bikes but someone else had hired them.

In need of a revamp

The relais de Margaux is a bit worn out. Rooms are very big but would need a refresh, very disappointing for the price paid.
Food was mediocre.

Lovely location but in need of some tlc.

The whole hotel looked in need of a bit of repair and a lick of paint. Shower leaked as sealant at base had perished. Room was described as a junior suite with terrace but was just one room with a 2-seater sofa and coffee table (separate bathroom and toilet). So not a suite really. The terrace was good. But it was very clean and tastefully decorated. Staff were absolutely lovely - friendly and helpful. Restaurant was closed and the golf club brasserie menu was very basic so we went elsewhere for dinner. But it served a good breakfast.

Large hotel set in countryside

Large hotel with large rooms. Decor seemed sparse and I think the hotel was more suitable for events. However, the staff and service were good and we enjoyed a nice dinner. My only real criticism was that the room was so cold I could not sleep. It was a cold wet November day and there was no heating. Such a shame as it could have been a pleasant stay.

Nice hotel in good location

Nice hotel just outside the town. 5-minute drive/30 minute walk to the nearest restaurant, which was very good - the hotel’s own restaurant was fully booked. The rooms are spacious but looking a bit tired but the hotel is about to undergo a big refurbishment.

Hotel is nice but need and is under total renovation. It will certainly be great when all is done. Food was very good and the sommelier.was excellent and choosed some very good wines for us. Breakfast was not up to standard to what you expect in such a hotel. As it was 40 degrees the day we stayed the pool was a reason For us to choose this hotel, it was ok but very small. An overall nice stay but we would not pay full price so check for offers.

Good location with great grounds for the dog to run in. We stayed for 2 nights and picked the hotel to play golf but unfortunately when we arrived the golf course had been closed for 9 months and not due to open for another 3! There was no mention of this when we booked with Expedia. Nice large rooms but clearly the amenities let out stay down.

A two night stay

The hotel is away from the village of Margaux, however a reasonable stroll on foot. The hotel grounds are resplendent given its a golf course around it all. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The bedrooms clearly need some investment in them as they are dated and tired fittings and doors. The beds were extremely comfortable along with the pillows. The rooms and corridors were clean also. The restaurant was adequate. Trying to be fine dining yet not achieving it other than for the prices charged. Breakfasts were only average too. The bistro was much better and very under used although its only for day time dining.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at this hotel, it's quiet and a little isolated but that's exactly what we wanted . Getting to the hotel is tricky from the airport , a car would be the best , however there is a train station in margaux that is direct from bordeaux and much cheaper than what we paid for a taxi !!!!! The hotel is a little dated but has good facilities and breakfast was excellent, my husband was catered for with his coeliac disease. The staff were very helpful and friendly, if we played golf it looked a beautiful, quiet course but we didn't enquire into how much it would cost. Overall a lovely French retreat

Room very spacious and cosy.
For dinner the staff was somprofessional, they made you feel very confortable and welcome.
The food was of really goid quality.
Breakfast was a little bit hectic, probably because everyone arrive quite late but the staff was certainly not as efficient and welcoming as their colleagues of the previous evening.

Lovely large room, nicely furnished. Good bathroom, towels and robes. Very helpful staff. Great pool and spa. Large wine list. Had an excellent late lunch in the Brasserie, which was very good value. The Brasserie staff member was very helpful and the chef cooked for us, even though it was about to close - they went above and beyond for us - not common these days! Had a drink and desert in the bar which was very good.

This is a well situated hotel with some very good facilities. Nice indoor pool, sauna and steam room and the benefit of a nice outdoor pool area.

Service is excellent, wifi throughout and ample free parking.

Room size was good although they had pushed two beds together to make a double. Aircon was fine but a facelift is required to make this hotel great again. The bathroom looked particularly tired. Note for the English - no kettles available!

Overall we enjoyed our stay but as noted there is room for improvement.

Nice hotel but will be renovated in October 2017

Great staff at front desk, not so much in restaurants. I ordered sparkling water and never received it. I also ordered coffee which was never delivered. Sparkling water was on the bill though. Had to notify waiter and it was removed. Wait staff seems off in a different world.
This resort needs updating and will undergo renovation in October and that's a good thing. Wi-fi was not existent in rooms.

Quite a disappointing stay. Hotel looks quite run down and barely kept together. The building smells like an old sellar. The so called outdoor swimming pool is a lough for a hotel of that size and its rating , something you would have in your summer house in the country , small and not much looked after, more of a dipping pool rather then swimming . The room itself was nice enough, but then again the smell was of an old dump , highly uncomfortable bed , very soft mattress and as it would in most hotels there were two single beds pushed together, but mattresses were incompatible for a double bed, the ridges were so sharp that when you want to actually sleep together with your partner it was simply impossible as you would have to share a single mattress or sleep on very painful middle part were it was cutting in to your body. The fridge in the room was leaking and the daily cleaning was very basic and forgetful , dirty plate was left in the room for days . The hotel restaurant is nothing but pretentious, probably trying to be Michelin star, but has no idea how to do it. Staff was sweet, however looked like they had no clue what they were doing. Luckily we got this booking via Expedia for a good price, I can not imagine who would pay full prices for it, up to 200 per night!! Definitely not a 4 star stay.

The hotel has its ups and downs, lovely grounds, golf course and spa, rooms are a little tired but baths are updated. Hotel is very spread out with long hallways, not perfect for someone who needs assistance, so I would specify in a reservation if you need a closer room. Things from the restaurant were up and down also, with some great things and others not as good. Has a billiard table, cute small bar with great wine list. Town of Margaux is nearby and lots of wonderful Wine Chateau's dot the countryside !

Peacefull hotel

Initialy when we checked in we werent happy with our room then spoke to hotel who took care of us and change our room. The hotel is located in a big, beatiful land and very peacefull as what we were looking for. Although it is a golf resorts, our 2 kids enjoyed the outdoor and indoor swimming pools. We had great food in the hotel, breakfast, lunch and specially dinner in the fine dining restaurant. We also had time to discover the area which is easy reachable area to the beach, bordeaux and many locations. I highly recommend, we will stay there when we travel again to france. Next time we are planning to play golf too.

After returning from the football game at 2h30 am in the morning, staff member forced me to pay up my bill immediately and was extremely rude. I am investigating the matter as I felt like leaving right then. Felt like a criminal when I spent a fortune to stay there. Not good at all.

It's a good size room. Many things right. Furniture and bed a bit too low. Bed is a king but not that soft. Staff and restaurant good. Wifi good. Interesting odor in the corridor leading to the room.

The place to stay on the Left Bank

I love the Relais de Margaux and stay here a lot. They are in transition with new owners and I hope the new owners bring some needed changes - but even now it is a great place. The best part of this hotel is the staff who are all excellent. The staff at the desk are very helpful and the restaurant crew is wonderful. Make sure you have dinner on the terrace - magical. We complained about the wifi and a couple of days later the entire thing was changed - and now is great. This is the place to stay on the Left Bank of Bordeaux!

Lovely hotel, in very pleasant and quiet location, about 20 miles in the car from Bordeaux, the staff were very nice/ helpful, lovely breakfast but we found the resturant food wasn't to our taste and the meal we had there on our first night was very expensive.

Obviously cannot be accessed with out having a car .it is not enough to say that the hotel staff were very pleasent and very helpful . Same apply to the SPA staff . Good place to visit the locality

We were happy with hotel, very nice clean with efficient staff. Dinner very good, we didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. One suggestion is that hotel should have booklet on the services available in the rooms. Although golf course and spa on site there was no information in rooms. Had to go to spa to find out services rates etched and even then they had nothing to take away. Spa was fully booked out for all of our 4 night stay do couldn't use though we wished to. Pool area very nice. Golf course looks good but didn't use.

Overall a pleasant stay in a lovely area.

I'm impressed, better than expected.

I have stayed at very high end hotels. For the money unbeatable. Great service and very friendly staff. If you want to stay in Margaux and not pay top dollar, this is the place. Very comfortable and large rooms, kept nice and clean. Restaurant at the hotel also one of the best in the area.

Great location and setting

It was a last minute from us to add a night in Margaux before our departure to Paris. The location is very good where you are surrounded by the golf course. The views on the road driving toward the property is also spread with vine trees. The service and cleanness is no doubt a good quality. However, the proper is more like rectangle shape so depending on where your room is located and if you are parking near it with limited parking space outside or at the big parking lot. It's quite a long walk. Our room is overlook at the golf course so the view is fantastic. It's very close to Chateau Margaux if you are a wine lover!

We were not looking for a golf resort setting, but chose the hotel because of a friend's recommendation, and were not disappointed. The staff was friendly to our requests for help, and dinner was so good that we dined there the second night, too. We enjoyed watching the ducks waddle around the golf course with views of the river in the background - just lovely.

Great hotel in a peaceful setting.

The hotel is large and set in extensive grounds in a perfect location for exploring the left bank. The room was very large and comfortable but the air conditioning didn't work very well. Some of the main through areas looked a little tired and in need of some attention. We made use of the Spa and the inside and outside pools and they were clean and the water was a good temperature. The staff in the restaurant were excellent - Jerome in particular. The food was very good value and beautifully presented. Overall good value for money and I would stay here again.

The property and place is amazing. I really enjoyed the open fields and trees. Nevertheless, the hotel is in need of some freshness and the rooms are very far away from the reception and restaurant. The staff was capable and very helpful, but some weird rules, make you displace to another bar AT THE OTHER end of the property for a bottle of water, even though there is a waiter and a bar on this side. weird...

The have bikes at you disposal, which is very nice, The SPA is fantastic and the food was very good!

Overall, I would recommend it.

This resort is the ideal place to view the wineries in the Margaux region on the outskirts of Bordeaux. Staff were willing to please and everything is available at this hotel to service your comfort. Spa services should be booked beforehand as there was non availability on our arrival.

Positives: excellent service, good facilities, great breakfast, comfy beds, great lunch in brasserie du lac. Negatives: rooms desperately need a refurb (scheduled soon I was told), dinner in main restaurant a bit quirky, not cheap. Not very kiddie friendly.

A relaxing spacious hotel close to chateaux & sea

Avery nice hotel with excellent service and food close to the Gironde river and surrounded by the golf course. Peaceful and relaxing. It could have done with a larger pool and many more sunshades by the pool as there was no other shade from the sun.

Hôtel en toute quiétude ! Le personnel est aux petits soins. Les chambres sont spacieuses et propres. La literie confortable. Seul petit bémol : une douche spacieuse à l'italienne serait idéale plutôt qu'une baignoire avec une petite parois ! Le spa et la piscine avec remoue impeccable ainsi que le solarium et sa terrasse. De plus, possibilité de se restaurer sur place devant le golf .... Vraiment je recommande a 100%

Super accueil, par contre je trouve la chambre un peu vétuste par endroits on parle d’une chambre affiché au prix de 299€ ils pourraient faire quelques travaux ça ne serait pas du luxe.
Par contre le confort du lit est extra, petit bémol la climatisation… inutile, mais le réceptionniste nous a gentiment amené un ventilateur.

Je reviendrai à coup sûr dans ce lieu exceptionnel

Le lieu est très joli, dans un cadre verdoyant très agréable et plutôt chic et le service ainsi que les équipements sont largement à la hauteur.
C'est un lieu qui a tout pour plaire.
Le restaurant est un peu cher surtout pour la quantité servie, même si la qualité des aliments et le goût ne sont pas remis en question.

L'hôtel est situé au calme dans la campagne médocaine avec un golf.
Extérieurement l'hotel est en mauvais état et a besoin d'une importante rénovation. Idem pour les espaces verts. Intérieurement l'hotel est en bon état même si la déco année 80 avec moquette au sol est à revoir.
Notre chambre était spacieuse avec une grande salle de bains et wc séparé, le tout en bon état et propre.
La cuisine de la brasserie est décevante et pas en accord avec le prix 39 euros pour un menu carte +vin en sus.
Le personnel de l'hôtel et de la brasserie est accueillant et sympathique.
En résumé l'hôtel brasserie a un bel emplacement, mais nécessite d'importants travaux.

Undvik restaurangen

Bra hotell på många sätt men restaurangen (Brasseriet) upplevde vi som dålig- snålt med mat och dålig service.

manque total d'entretien

bel édifice mais malheureusement laisser à l'abandon par les gérants semble-t'il : l'état de propreté des fenêtres est déplorable (baies vitrées des couloirs, fenetres des chambres, rembardes vitrées des terrasses...), espace vert de la piscine extérieure non entretenu, vraiment besoin d'un rénovation extérieure des batiments...

Dommage pour le service.

Bel établissement.
Literie confortable
Amenities de qualité, mini-bar, bouteilles d’eau offertes.

Cependant, grosse déception sur la partie service, et notamment food&beverages:
- le restaurant ne reçoit pas après 21:00, quel que soit le jour de la semaine.
- pas de table pour dîner au restaurant de l’hôtel si on n’a pas réservé (compte tenu de l’isolement du lieu, c’est très problématique).
Et bien qu’on m’ait dit au moment du check-out, que c’était une erreur, nous nous sommes quand même retrouvés à devoir rouler 20km aller et 20km retour pour manger de la nourriture de food-truck…

Voilà ça fait un peu tâche, et forcément, ça altère sérieusement mon appréciation sur mon séjour.

Lidt slidt hotel

Hotellet lidt slidt. Ligeså golfbanen, men dejlig natur. Golf restauranten god, med fin betjening. Er man vininteresseret er området i Margaux superi fint.

Le lieu est agréable, c’est un golf. Le restaurant psr contre est une catastrophe, le service lamentable et la nourriture pas bonne.
Le WC ne fermaient pas a clé, la serrure était cassée.

Cependant, une tasse était très mal nettoyée et je n’ai pas aimé l’accueil du soir,(à la réception) personne très froide

Bel endroit. Literie confortable. Spa et hammam sauna ouvert jusqu'au repas : pratique pour se détendre.

Suggestion d'amélioration : Décoration un peu vieillote et tarif un peu élevé

Ne pas y aller accompagné d'un chien

Hotel très correct , en revanche 20 € la nuit pour mon chien qui est 1 Yorkshire de supplément , il est sage et propre , je trouve cela vraiment plus que prohibitif , d'autant qu'il dort par terre , ne prend pas de douche et n'utilise pas les toilettes ! par conséquent je n'y retournerai pas .

Hôtel très vieillissant, j’y étais allez il y a 7 ans et et c’est choc. Plus rien à voir avec le 4 étoiles de l époque. Les repas / petits déjeuners ne sont pas à la hauteur du lieu, prévoyez autre chose. Si la déco et les matériaux ne sont pas important pour vous alors c’est un bon plan. Le personnel est lui très agréable pro. En gros on en a pour son argent. Mais ça mériterait tellement mieux !

Il y a des taches sur le moquette, sur les murs et sur la tête de lit. La décoration est vraiment à moderniser. Par contre la taille des chambres est vraiment grande, c’est super, et nous avons très bien dormi.
