Amazing stay close to Bordeaux but still secluded. We enjoyed a relaxed 2-night stay (in a spatious room), and especially enjoyed the 24/7-available wine bar as well as the sunrise on the estate with a coffee (included even if no breakfast is booked).
Staff was very attentive and friendly, would definitely recommend!

We were here to rest and recharge after spending the day wine tasting. This chateau is quiet and peaceful. Staff is friendly and speaks our language which is not common in many parts of France. We would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Fantastic place on the garonne river. Loved having picnics outside and taste the wide selection of self pouring wines. Staff were excellent apart from a lady at the front desk that was kind of rude on the fact that we could not bring food to the swimming pool ( that wasn’t explained to us at check in ), she made us feel very uncomfortable. But the two other gentleman at the front desk were great!

We were greeted by Maxim, who took great care to show us around, explain things, take us to our room etc. We had 3 nights of peace and quiet and access to the beautiful pool. Lucie looked after us splendidly for our first breakfast & I can't begin to tell you how impressed were with our quarters. Being just 10 rooms, it's geared for relaxation & a little luxury. While we were happy with all food options, I suspect the lack of prepared cooked food for dinner, may be not to everyone's liking. But Bordeaux is just a few minutes away by car if so desired. As I said, we loved our 3 night stay & have already told friends & relatives that they should stay there if the opportunity arises.

Chateau Grattequina is a magical place. The grand driveway goes on forever and then you see the beautiful gardens so many different flowers and fruit trees on the property. The condition is immaculate the grounds which are so vast are picture perfect. The grand entry way, the decor, the huge rooms, the back balcony, the pool. It is all perfect. We stayed with a large group of 16 guests and spent so much time just taking pictures every where we could. We also had a gala dinner all arranged by the staff and the execution was flawless. We cannot wait to come back. Bravo!

We had a wonderful one night stay in this beautiful chateaux after finishing up our cruise. The romantic room was gorgeous! Very comfortable bed, beautiful river view. I wish the menu had been bigger but the food was very good. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is an absolutely stunning property set alongside the beautiful setting of the River Garonde and slightly out from the busy city of Bordeaux (approx 15 mins by car). The large room (#10) looked onto the river at the back of the property and had a very large walk-in shower and a bath, 2 sinks and separate toilet room. Slippers and dressing gowns were provided. Very comfortale bed. Breakfast was lovely, although a little overpriced at 22€ per person. Having been in touch with the property prior to arrival about dietary requirements, they were able to cater for that for me. Unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate was available. Wine by the glass from a machine added to your tab and payable at the end of your stay. Pool was perfect, and there was also a sauna next to the pool. Poolside towels were provided. The 'menu' available is more q snack menu but delicious.
The one downside for you to be aware of with booking through Expedia if you choose the option to pay at the property, they required a pre-authorisation check before arrival, which actually took full payment albeit showing as a pending payment. Upon departure, the property insisted we had to pay the amount again, so in theory paying twice at that point. A week after our stay, we still hadn't received a refund contrary to what we were told, so I again requested a cancellation of the pre-authorisation payment from the property directly and finally got the pending payment money back. Fantastic stay all in all. Will return.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Probably the best place we’ve ever stayed! It feels like something out of a fairytale. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The staff is always extremely friendly and ready to assist with anything you may need. If this resort had a full service restaurant it would be the greatest place EVER! Even without it they do have a really good breakfast and some great snack options like cheeses and bread. The pool is lovely and the ambience is just out of this world!

The Chateau is a lovely building on the Garonne a few miles outside of Bordeaux. The room was large, clean & tidy and very comfortable. It is an ideal base for exploring Bordeaux and the surrounding vinyards. There is also a nice pool in the grounds. Breakfast is provided (at an extra cost) but there is no restaurant for dinner. There is a room service menu but it's not very inspiring. It is much better to go out to a local restaurant of which there are quite a few in the immediate area. While we were there the hotel had several events in an annex building but they did not disturb the hotel guests. The hotel has an ev charging point. You will need an activation card that you can get from reception. There is a 10 euro flat fee for each day that you use it. A nice hotel but perhaps a little impersonal.

Hotel room didn't lock the first night. Everything was unsecure and management was miserable to deal with. Propped items up against the door at night to prevent anyone from entering room. Furniture dated and stained, staff was lackluster, overall experience was a total bust. Utter lack of concern for our privacy and security of valuables. Would not recommend!!!

Fantastic place , great stay but the billing was an absolute mess! This was paid via hotel . Com rewards and card 5 months before so coming completely paid for the room. 10 days before the stay the hotel took a massive pre authorisation charge which withheld money in my bank account. After much trouble to contact hotels . Com it got released, then on check out they tried to bill the already paid rooms , again I had proof they had been paid so all was good . Paid our extras then the next day the hotel billed me for the already paid room! I have now paid the room twice over and if you count the pre authorisation I paid it 3 times! Am awaiting now to get my money back from the hotel but due to a holiday it’s not straight away, but I will have to pay my bank charges. This had been a farce and ruined a great stay!

This Chateau is even more stunning in person. Located about a 20 minute drive from downtown Bordeaux, it offers privacy and relaxation on a quiet river. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful with all requests and the breakfast was delicious. They even upgraded our room for our honeymoon! We look forwarded to returning for years to come!

Stopped at Chateau Grattaquina in our way through France. Arrived late but manager happy to make food for us. All the COVID restrictions were evident, room was clean and very comfortable. Surroundings were excellent unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the pool or river boat trips but will definitely go back. Definitely recommend if you want to spoil yourselves.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The staff are fantastic. The rooms are warm, inviting, cozy, bright, comfortable... the list goes on. The bathroom was just so relaxing. The grounds of the property were to die for. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly love to go back. It’s also a short 15 min drive from the airport and to Bordeaux Centre. The hotel is situated right close to some of the best vineyards and restaurants.

We enjoyed a tranquil 2 day stay here before leaving France. We had a beautiful well appointed spacious room overlooking the river. The furnishings were elegant and though modern in keeping with the style of the exterior of the chateau. The only thing we were not keen on was that the toilet was separate from the bathroom on the other side of bedroom and there was no sink to wash hands after using the toilet and we had to go all round bedroom and through 2 doors to wash hands? ! The location is out of Bordeaux but closer to the wine region but a taxi into Bordeaux cost 25 euros. We actually took the boat ride into Bordeaux for one trip since we had a reservation for dinner down town. It was fun but we thought the price for 70 euros each was excessive. Due to the heat the beautiful pool was a welcome relief and it was relaxing to spend an afternoon on the loungers by the pool. We also enjoyed a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurts breads, croissants and eggs bacon and cheese and ham.we ordered a plate of charcuterie and cheese to eat one lunch time by pool- it was a delicious bargain! The staff were pleasant and helpful when asked, but did not initiate any interactions including on our arrival, which we found strange after all the other welcomes we had had at the other hotels in France. However, we would return for the quiet relaxing surroundings.

My friend and myself took a nine day vacation throughout the south of France. When we arrived to this chateau/hotel we were blown away by the very warm welcome and professionalism of the staff.
The view across the property is sensational! The grounds are breathtaking!! Calm and peaceful...Wether strolling around the never ending greenery... or chilling on the hammock by the water, biking around the property... we enjoyed it immensely!!
Breakfast was served with a smile, fresh saueezed juice, omelettes, veggies, yogurts, and freshly baked bread on premises.
I urge you to visit and stay at this property. It will remain on our minds and in our hearts for a very long time to come... hoping to visit again very soon !!

This is a gem of a hotel right outside Bordeaux. It is 15 minutes in an uber (or by boat) from the centre. It has the most magical swimming pool surrounded by a stunning garden. The rooms are large and well equipped. The staff are lovely. It’s in a very quiet area. There is wine on tap 24/7. The only thing that lets it down is the room decor which appears to have been done by a colour blind ikea salesman. Our room had grey walls with beige and burgundy curtains. There was a rickety floor lamp leaning at a 45 degree angle mixed with beautiful antique furniture. Most extraordinary because the public rooms have been exquisitely updated. If you are not too design conscious you will love it though!

The location is perfect if you want to stay out of the city and have an easy start off to visit the vineyards of Bordeaux. We had a car and needed adequate parking. We got that. Stately and elegant, absolutely beautifully restored , gracious grounds with perfect interior decor and immaculate service. Thank you Quinton and the lovely young woman on duty 5/16/19 who help us with a vineyard tour reservation. Rooms are lovely, large and comfortable. They do need to add luggage racks for the rooms and a trash can in the room not just the bathroom. Otherwise our stay was perfect.

Total Rip-off. Expensive dump. We couldn’t open the windows, even though it was cold outside, because there were bugs everywhere. The furniture was disgusting (see pictures— torn as though from a junk shop). The beds were creaky, small and awful. Breakfast was a supplementary rip-off at 18 euros for the same thing served everywhere else (we declined it when we figured out what was going on). Steer clear of this joint.

The hotel is lovely although the garden needs a little attention. The pool was lovely and is heated to a nice temperature. Plenty of seating by the pool and the river. There is no restaurant but we liked the informality of the evening meals which were very low key but delicious and very well served. Grattequina is quite a way from anywhere so do not think you can walk out for a quick drink at a local bar to soak up the atmosphere. Everything is provided in the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, nicer than most 5 star hotels!

This was easily our favorite hotel of our 3 week trip in France. This hotel is BEAUTIFUL and their attention to detail and service is superb. It's shocking that this isn't actually a 5 star hotel. The location is amazing being right on the water - the hotel also has a water taxi service available to/from downtown Bordeaux! Our room was so beautiful and very very large for a european hotel. The pool was very nice and had a beautiful view of the chateau/property. The wine bar fancy \"vending machine\" was such a nice feature - we really enjoyed being able to sample different wines by the glass. Breakfast each morning was very tasty. I highly suggest ordering food from their menu and having dinner out on the back patio overlooking the lake. Chateau Grattequina honestly felt like a dream staying there - we can't wait to go back!

Not what we expected in a Chateau

As a family of four we spent 3 days at the Chateau. The positives: The Chateau is beautiful with gorgeous grounds, common areas and rooms. The pool, sitting options outside and the kitchen with available coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water and fruit at all times was very nice. The negatives: The hotel lacks food options with a limited menu so you need to go out of you want more than pizza or pasta. If you dont bring a car, cabs from the hotel will cost you as the fare starts in the city - its about 40 Euro to go anywhere. The Chateau stumbles in the hope to be both a luxury hotel and a conference centre. Our second night at the Chateau they hosted a wedding. We had guests throughout the common spaces at the hotel - leaving us no where to relax, the lounge spaces inside and out were full of guest and they looked out onto the pool - where we were. The conference center is next to the Chateux and the noise from the wedding (DJ, people milling around) kept us up until 3 am. The following day the Chateux hosted an event for the football event. People were everywhere and intoxicated guests stripped down and tried to get into the pool with our children several times. The lack of space for guests or monitoring of events is horrible. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel as anytime there is an event, as a guest you are left with no space, no privacy and no ability to get away from the noise. Stay elsewhere thats better organized for guests and events.

A gem of a Chateau

The location, the grounds and chateau itself are absolutely gorgeous. we found it very romantic and will definitely return to take advantage of it in the future. Its a good place to take a breath, we were just moving too fast. We did not have time to take advantage of the pool or the bicycles, but did do a small wine tasting and the breakfast. Take note that the chateau is 30 minutes away from the city center, so that was a bit challenging. They offer a river boat ride into town which we thought was a definite must, but found it a bit too expensive. The staff was very nice and the room was beautiful. We look forward to going back.

We enjoyed our stay. The setting is great once you get there, but you go though industrial areas first. Swimming pool is tropical and a real chill out. Absolutely lovely.
Breakfast is fine and eggs are cooked to order. It's great to sit on the terrace as you have a morning tea or coffee. All very pleasant.
The only issue is the very limited food menu for other meals. It's a room service menu which they serve wherever you wish to eat and it's fine for lunch. The food is very good. You can't get a hot evening meal and you do need a car to get to any other restaurant. A taxi to/from Bordeaux town is €35 euros.
We did use the hotel boat to go into Bordeaux,which was a great experience, however it is expensive for a 25 min ride.
All in all, fine to chill out overnight if you have a late lunch before arriving. Glad we went! would go again if they added a couple of simple hot dishes to their menu.

We felt like we were living in a dream! The architecture of the estate home was amazing! The room immense! The bed divine. A perfect restful moment away from an otherwise bustling travel schedule. The linens, upholstery and drapery were all done with great taste and updated, so this traditional mansion was fresh and inviting!

Charming, romantic and relaxing hotel.

This is the perfect place to get away from it all and get some R&R. The only negative is that it is NOT walking distance to anything! You need to have a car to make the experience worthwhile. Taxis are extremely expensive and there is no restaurant in this hotel, just room service. The menu is very limited and pricy. However, we loved it and found it quite charming.

Wonderful staff and views. Fabulous location and building.

We had the garden room for a week however our King size bed was in fact two singles that moved apart.

Note: Walking to town not recommended by staff but we did anyway almost trod on a snake beside the road.

Taxi charges for a trip from town before they pick you up and was unable to charge my card as no coverage, Hotel staff saved the day with a loan Many thanks.

Rental car a must.

Great picturesque getaway in castle w/ modern touc

A little bit out of town from Bordeaux city centre but in a very relaxing setting. Nicely situated on river and amongst its own fields, a nice romantic getaway. Unlike other parts of France, the rooms are very clean and spacious with all the modern amenities. A lot of complaints were made about food but the room service delivered us hot meals at midnight with no issue. The pool isn't heated but is a nice place to relax and cool down after a day of wine tours and \"sampling\"
