The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms are so small. I reserved what I thought was a spacious room and it was just the smallest one and my view was a wall, really bad for a VIP status.

The hotel has a perfect location and the staff is wonderful. This is a small boutique property that’s family owned and operated. Although it’s very clean it could benefit from more attention to detail in things like floor polishing and overall care of the public areas. My room was beautiful with a small balcony overlooking Via Veneto I really feel like a little more care to the shine of the beautiful marble and iron railings as well as the vintage woodwork. Overall very satisfied with this hotel and even the breakfast was wonderful every day!

Perfect location in the beautiful Via Veneto, a safe area. Near to different attractions, shopping, transportation, and restaurants. But the hotel needs some love. The bathtub curtain is a joke; I am pretty sure they can install a regular one without spending much money; the carpets look dirty.
The hotel is beautiful, as is the furniture, but the closets are smelly. They need a renovation, painting the walls would be amazing. As I said, the hotel is beautiful. It just needs some love, and for the price, they should do it.

Lift problems

We were pleased with the hotel but our stay was marred at the beginning by the lift being out of order. It took 5 days to get it repaired. We were not charged for breakfast as a result, and were offered a room on the the 3rd floor. But we had booked a room on the 5th floor in order to have a terrace so decided to stay put. The 5 flights of steps we had to walk up were the equivalent of 8 UK flights. Fortunately there was a porter to carry our bags, but it did mean we used our room less than we would otherwise have done.

Updated rooms and bathrooms. Great location. Staff was over the top. Helped with some tours we had booked online and were having trouble getting our tickets by email. They called the company for us and got the issue resolved. Has them email the vouchers to the hotel, then printed for us. Also have good directions.

While the staff's service was great, it was upsetting that the elevator was down our entire stay and that we were on the top floor. Of course, this made us feel obligated to tip the staff to assist with our heavy luggage. If the elevator were not down, we would have been able to manage our own luggage.

In addition, while it seemed they had gone to our room to clean up, it looked like they reused the towels we had used. This made it feel slightly unsanitary.

Broke elevator, no resolution

Elevator was broken before arrival. Was not informed of this. We weren’t offered a refund or other accommodations, in fact we were “upgraded” to the second highest floor. This was for 4 days and three nights without a working elevator. Paying almost 400 euros per night to walk up and down 4 flights of steep stairs is a little ridiculous.

Too expensive for this 3 star hotel. The person checking us in was not happy or pleasant. We went to rage front to tell them that there was water on the floor in the washroom and after sending someone to check it they told us it was probably the cleaners that didn’t clean it properly. The water sat there until I cleaned it up myself. The breakfast was horrible. I hate giving bad reviews and that is why I didn’t give it less stars but I would not go back.

Very nice hotel in a walkable distance of pretty much anywhere in Rome which is just what you need metro is very easy to get to from the hotel and also very convenient as its just down the road very clean and comfortable room services available whenever staff are very friendly, air con is great just a little tip air con won’t work if your window is open we found this out by day 2 the window is linked with the air con why don’t other hotels have this I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

This was a great property, close enough to get to many sites and restaurants in walking distance, but tucked away so it’s quiet and safe. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Early check-in was available for a reasonable fee. The mini-suite room was extremely comfortable and spacious with a beautiful street view. Beds were very comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again.

We booked this hotel for three nights.
The check-in experience was not pleasant; the front desk staff was not welcoming, and they allotted a very small, old, and unclean room. The bathroom was clogged and hardly had space for a shower. We asked to change the room but got no positive response. We have no option but to spend a night in that unhygienic place.
The next day we complained to the higher management of the hotel, and they immediately changed to room. The room was newer, cleaner, and very pleasant.
The hotel's location is charming, close to public transport and downtown.
I recommend this hotel only if you get a newer room.

Comfortable and cool stay in great location

We visited Rome during intense heat (100’degree days!) and were so relieved the hotel had amazing air conditioning. We slept so comfortably, the beds are softer than others we’ve had in Italy. Our room was clean and although not huge- totally fine for a couple with two large suitcases. The staff here is so accommodating and speak multiple languages. The hotel is near many restaurants, attractions and the metro and bus several big bus stops are just on the corner. We enjoyed the buffet style breakfast it was the same stuff every day but had many options to choose from.

It was terrible. We are very excited to check in the hotel but the staff (girl) doesn’t have a good customer service. I booked a room for 2 adult and 2 kids, so I booked a junior suite. She claimed that i booked for only 1person. I showed her my reservation that shows 2 adult and 2 person. She said the she doesn’t know why it happened and she wants me to pay for 3 extra person. I’m about to pay extra, but i decided to call the expedia. Good thing the customer service of expedia caed the hotel and it resolved the issue.

They have this property as a 4 star which is far from the truth. The A/C didnt work, the bed felt like it was over 20 years old. The hotel seemed more like a brothel. You never feel safe when the receptionist is behind a glass window. I would rate this a 1 star hotel.

The area was very convenient, within walking proximity to several main attractions. There was a Metro station just at the end of the street. Lovely hotel, and lovely staff. My one negative was that the walls/doors in the rooms were paper thin. You could hear the staff on the walkie-talkies in the morning and them cleaning other people’s rooms. The bathroom was quite small but overall it’s a lovely hotel for a short stay in Rome.

Bed bugs ruin otherwise good hotel.

Bed bugs. They offered to give us a new room but no more bugs were found after they stripped all the linen so we were hoping a change of linen would be enough. It wasn’t. Tons of bed bugs the next night. Everything else was great. Great breakfast and very convenient location to metro right outside. I’d like to leave a better review but you know. Bed bugs. The room also shook every so often like a small earthquake. No idea why. Didn’t ask.

The Hotel Alexandra staff were all friendly and helpful - Giada was especially kind in ensuring we had a room that worked for our needs. Each room is individually decorated, with some lovely touches - ours had a beautiful chandelier and a large amount of wardrobe space in addition to a sizeable bathroom. The location on pretty Via Veneto means many classic sights such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Pantheon are within walking distance and both the Metro and a taxi stand are just down the street. This is an especially safe area; it is active with many restaurants and cafes nearby without being particularly crowded or noisy.

The staff was very helpful. Breakfast option was buffet style was very good. The reception area is small but the lounge areas are comfortable and well appointed there is also a computer room for business needs. Close walkung proximity to Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Borghese museum and gardens, Sant'Angelo castle and even to Vatican city if you wish to walk the extra mile. HOHO bus may be taken a block away from the Hotel. Other attractions are a short taxi right away. Hotel offers for a flat fee of 60 euros airport transfer, the ride is between 25 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.

People were very nice and helpful, but this hotel is way overpriced. Minibar was barely cold, and they have rules to not eat in your room which is very odd. Curtains were broken and there was absolutely nothing that would make this a $260 a night hotel. The hotel is on the outdated side. They did not give me my supposed VIP bottle of wine either. Lots of stairs as well even though there is an elevator.

Four friends stayed here for three nights in October. Although this is a modest hotel, it was perfect for us. The two rooms were comfortable. The shower in one was miniscule. The room in the other was small. But both were clean and comfortable. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They provided excellent service, fulfilling every request we made. And all were friendly and helpful. The location made accessing the city very easy. An easy walk to Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Borghese Museum and Gardens. We would recommend this hotel to others.

Our economy room was plenty big enough although the bathroom was quite small - both were very clean and the bathroom fittings were modern and worked well. We appreciated the kettle in the room. Once we understood the system for breakfast, we liked the fact that we could have breakfast in the hotel if we wanted on the day (no booking needed and charged when we checked out).

This hotel is so old and has so many stairs that it is not condusive for lot's of luggage. The room we got smelled so bad and it was confirmed that it was the air conditioning and it would be best to keep the windows open. So this is an obvious issue that is not getting resolved. I thought I was going to get mold poising. The location is good, but honestly I would never stay here again. We only stayed one night and that was plenty.

Needs new management, worst customer service!

The hotel itself is great. The huge problem is the controlling management. They demand their key back when you walk out for coffee. We were chased down on the street and told it was for our safety! Your taking my room key for my safety. Lol. Not to mention, they turn off the power to the room and AC at random times during the day. I had to ask to have my power and AC turned on 4 times. We left early because we felt like we could no longer trust them because of the control they were demanding. We said we done feel safe when you chase us down and yell at us, the lady manger replied, fine you can leave! Wow! Definitely not a normal customer service experience. The staff needs a new leader and they need to treat people better.

ZTL zone so there's no way to get top the hotel except by taxi. We had a car, so we checked in after 7pm when three ZTL was disactivated. Check out was another nightmare.
Our phone carrier charged us exorbitant fees because the hotel's WIFI (and TV and elevator and air-conditioning) didn't work. They said it was due to construction in the area. They gave us a 30. euro credit, but for all that inconvenience I'd recommend FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY

A plesant stay in a good location.

The hotel was in a great location as it was a very short walkto Barberini metro station and the Rome Tour Bus stop located on Via Barberini at Piazza Barberini.

The hotel was well-placed for exploring Rome and was walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and the Metro station was ideal for going to Vatican City.

There was no iron or ironing board in the room and such items are unavaliable for use in the rooms, which the staff said was due to 'security reasons' which was likely a reference to a fire risk. There may have been the option to have the laundry service iron or press clothes, and if I stayed again I would certainly request this.

I stayed in a basic twin room and it was clean, tidy, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, the minifridge was good for keeping bottled water cool, and the room had good air conditioning which was essential for 32 degrees celsius heat outside.

There are a few restaurants and cafes immediately surrounding the hotel on the Via Veneto. Avoid Ciao Bella restaurant as it is overpriced, the quality of the food is pretty poor for the cost and the pasta had the flavour and texture of packet pasta (i.e. not fresh). Beware of tourist traps!

I would highly recommend the 18 minute walk to Trattoria Al Tettarello for authentic, good quality, and reasonably priced Roman cuisine. It was the best restaurant of the whole holiday!

Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend others stay at Hotel Alexandra.

This was a real gem of a hotel. Very close to transportation (subways and taxis) and generally in a very good area. The room was spacious and clean with a view of a church dome and some rooftops (very cute). The bed was large (two twins pushed together) and felt almost as spacious as our king size at home. The only downside was it was hard as a rock. We got extra blankets and used them as padding- problem solved! The room AC worked great. The hotel staff was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed in this place for 2 nights and extended my stay for additional before my trip to Madrid I have extended my stay due to some changes in my schedule . The place is located pretty central . But my main disappointment is the room is infested with bed bugs I stayed in room 720 as a matter of fact I left earlier than my check out because I couldn’t take it anymore . I thought on my first night I was having seafood allergy . But the following night. Y bites getting more and more . Check the headboard all the poop stained on it . And I woke up my legs have all bed bug bites when I checked out I told to Miriam discreetly and politely so the next who will occupy the room won’t suffer. But this place definitely gives me a goose bump so much bedbug bites that ruin my trip. Even my face got bitten . I don’t normally put a review but I have too to warned people staying in the room and in this hotel

Excellent location, lovely hotel.

Excellent location, right by the Spanish steps and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Only a 20 minute walk from the main train station to the airport (Roma Termini). Would definitely recommend/stay here again.

Excellent hotel and staff, ideal location

Hotel Alexandra really made our stay in Rome, a real pleasure. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were very obliging and courteous. On arrival we got a free upgrade to a lager room which was great. The hotel is ideally located near the Trevvi fountain and Spanish steps and the Metro is situated outside the front door which meant we could explore all the attractions with minimum effort. Overall I would give hotel Alexandra an excellent rating and would definitely return to it when I visit Rome again

Friendly Hotel

Friendly reception during stay with good recommendations for eating. The hotel is a bit older but very clean. Must be able to climb stairs upon entry. Elevator in use to get to room. Free breakfast of cornetto and coffee each morning. Good location-very close to Metro and very close to Spanish Steps.

Hotel was nice and staff friendly. Only item that was not great for me was transportation to/from airport. Arrangements I made said €100 round trip, yet I was charged 55 for trip to hotel and 50 for return to airport, even after confirming the terms in advance and prior to trip back to the airport.

Great hotel & price!

It was great! Staff was great and spoke English. Room was cute and clean. We were very close to everything. My only complaint would be our double bed was just two twins put together that kept separating. But other than that this hotel was perfect with lots of food options, stores, and tourist attractions a short train ride or walk away.
