The room was comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities, there was also draws and hangers for your clothes, there was parking but i didnt use it cause i came by train the station was near to the hotel 2 mins walk, the breakfast (which i didnt have) seemed ok there was cereals, pan au chocolate, i dont know if there was a cooked breakfast because i needed to catch an early train which was before breakfast started but the lady left me out some pastries for me take which was a nice gesture. It is a quiet place due to its location, although you are right next to the train station i didn't hear them at all. I would stay here again.

Hot breakfast was served on table with cold breakfast options too. Staff and ladies were lovely amd helpful. I forgot our toiletries bag and she very generously provided with shampoo n conditioners. Dining area with beautiful garden and peaceful area. There's a one-stop shop in 2 mins drive and halal food from antalya kabab house was extremely delicious.

I love how cozy it was, but the tv was not working, which was disappointing, but other than that, it was ok. we also loved how they had a variety of food choice for us it was very helpful. The staff was very sweet and had a bubbly personality:) Over all I would come her again. Thank you

The guesthouse was very dated, and halfway through renovations, personally i would not of stayed if i had known. Breakfast was cooked well with a selection of cereals. Internet was fine.

Me and my family have just got home from a wonderful stay here. The staff are so friendly, the hotel is peaceful and you feel welcomed. The breakfasts were amazing and very impressed with the selection. We will 100% come back for another visit hopefully this year. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast very nice. However, there is still quite a bit of work/redecorating going in downstairs and the stairway leading upstairs and the room were slightly damp (not helped by the humidity).

This should be advertised as a bed and breakfast, not a hotel. We arrived before check in as we expected to be able to have some food and drink while we waited for our room to be ready. When we arrived the property was closed and we were told to come back for check in at 3pm. I asked if there was a bar/restaurant we could wait in but was turned away, Hotels usually have a bar or restaurant for guests to use while they are waiting around but once we checked in we understood this was not a facility available in this property. The family room was ok but very old fashioned. The cleanliness could have been a lot better. We had a lot of long hairs on the vanity seat in the room. The shower pressure was also very bad and was affected by another tap in the bathroom being used or the toilet being flushed. The shower door was also very old and hard to open/close. Another thing to be aware of, when you drive to the property there is a train track that you have to open gates on each side to be able to cross. I imagine this could be quite hard if travelling alone.

Travelled alone and was made welcome from the start by the owners. No request was a problem - from early parking to packing up a breakfast.
Location was excellent - so quiet, just next to the train station which is used regularly so could abandon the car for the whole holiday and just take train and bike all over. Brilliant holiday!
Breakfast delicious - poached egg and avocado a particular favorite!
Good value for money.

I had hoped i would be able to get a roll, or sandwich in the evening. Admittedly, i only asked for some crisps, as it appeared there was no service, as such, in the evening.
The breakfast was good & the room clean & comfortable.
However, it would be better to make sure that everything in the room is secure & not left for the customer to discover!!!

Not as advertised despite some glowing? reviews.

I really do not like writing negative reviews. Particularly when the owners of the B&B are such friendly people and the accommodation is one of the least expensive at £246 for two nights in a popular holiday destination. Even so with the best will in the world it is difficult to recommend this establishment.l find it difficult to accept that there are people calling it exceptional.
There is not enough room here to say everything so I have completed a google review which you can check out. In my experience it is not “4 star” and not “upmarket” it is a poor B&B with great possibilities for the future.

Clean and freshly painted with new curtains and throws. Friendly hosts and good cooked breakfast.

This is a traditional seaside B&B. Old but solid furniture ... but what's wrong with that? They could've replaced it with modern flimsy mdf cupboards but much more eco friendly to retain the retro feel and I enjoyed the cream corner bath and gold plated taps.

I first booked a 2 night stay and then telephoned the hotel to stay another night and was upgraded to the four poster bedroom, that was really nice and such a large bathroom for me as a solo guest. However i asked about evening meals and was told there was a restaurant, fish and chips and a shop a few minutes walk away. I had been travelling nearly 3 hrs and was quite tired, but walked to the restaurant about 7.30pm to find they had run out of food ! So i had to have fish and chips. By the way they only serve food in the restaurant until 8.30pm! It took me a good 20 minutes to walk back to the hotel. Also on arrving at the hotel you have to manage the gates to cross the train line! Overall it was a comfortable stay because fortunately i had the upgrade room. However i wished I'd seen the reviews before booking and would have cancelled, and realised it didnt do evening meals. Nice friendly family though.

We had a pleasant enough stay, using the hotel - more a B&B - as a base for the coast and southern Snowdonia national park. The property is immediately adjacent a station with a direct line to Birmingham New Street. Driving access is via an unmanned, gated level crossing. One key drawback is the absence of any proper eateries in the evening for many miles around, and nothing at the hotel.
For the present owners this seems to be a work in progress. The building is a former pub with original bar. The carpets must be 50-60 years old and there is a damp and musty smell throughout. The hosts were pleasant and accommodating, and breakfast was good. However our room was not serviced over our three day stay except for emptying the waste paper basket. Used cups were left for three days. We made our own beds and clearly dirty towels left for changing were not.
We could not suggest this was child friendly.

The hotel has character and a unique sense of peace about it. It is energetically run by Richard and Jo Scully, the owners, who share a real vision for it and will stop at nothing to see it all happen.
It is ideally situated in beautiful countryside, which makes it an exceptionally peaceful place to be.
We will definitely be returning whenever we need our batteries recharging due to stress or fatigue. There are plenty of places to explore in the area, but simply enjoying the ambience of Cadwgan is simple enough without having to travel anywhere else.

We were msde to feel welcome from the outset, and the owners were very açcommodating with storing our bicycles on which we'd arrived. They are obviously refurbishing the house, so there is a bit of work in progress, but this did not detract from our good experience.

On arrival the first thing the owner said to me was “you have only booked for 1 person!! I arrived with my wife and admitted that I missed Expedias page to add a 2nd guest. We was then informed that we would have to pay an additional £25!!!! So £90 in total for room only! Even though breakfast is offered on Expedia there is none, making this a very expensive nights stay.

Very disappointing

On arrival asked what time We wanted breakfast (15 min slots) then called daughter to take us to our room. No information brochure in room. Went to breakfast the tables were bare. After 10 minutes was asked what we wanted though did not know what was available as no menu, so the chap stood and told us (as he had to with all newcomers). Another 15 minute wait before we were bought tea pot, milk 2 cups and toast. Also side plate with 2 knives, fork, tea spoon all tightly wrapped in cling film as was the sugar bowl. Then another 20 minutes before breakfast arrived. I then had to ask for sauce and...yes a wait for that to be brought (one day it did not arrive at all). There are only 7 bedrooms so why the long delays? It is a shame because the food was good with a good selection of cereals, fruit etc. and always plenty of toast. The place is very dated and the beds so uncomfortable. The other problem is room 5-8 are on the second floor and are reach by narrow, steep stairs and when arriving back at night there were no lights on the landing. Stayed for a week.

Peaceful bolt hole by the beach

What a great family run House Hotel. It is literally in the middle of nowhere, tranquil, peaceful, 15 minutes walk to the beach, 15 minutes drive into Barmouth. Sure the lack of evening meal is a pain (recommend Tony's pizza place!) and the squeeky floors, but the absolute silence is bliss.

It was so lovely just sat at the bar, don't think I mentioned they have a big bar area chatting was fab and they have such a lovely family.

Breakfast ... wow, full on big English breakfast!!!

They really couldn't do enough to make sure I had a good stay. I'd recommend leaving your car on the other side of the railway crossing to make it easier.

There is a big play area outside for those moments where you want to chill out outside and keep an eye on the kids playing.

Would I return ... yes, and I am planning another escape already.

The beaches nearby are so clean, a bit breezy and yes, there is a naturist bit if that's your thing. It's all just such an amazing part of Wales.

I will go back for sure !!

Location is fantastic. Rooms have lovely views and are very clean. We went with two children under four and it accommodated us well with good play area, beach and train station within walking distance and spacious bedroom and bathroom.

The new owners are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble if you ask. It might get busy at times and you have too wait but that’s because of its location and its only a small bed and breakfast. It was very clear on booking and when there that there was no food served other than breakfast for residents so not sure why people are complaining.

It’s a little gem and once the new owners have settled in and made the necessary changes I am sure food will be served in the future. We will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Excellent place, family running the place are very courteous and down to earth
Overall this is a leisurely place, breakfast was excellent and staff took care of our dietary needs without a fuss
Only complaint is patchy WiFi signal on top floor room, but overall a very nice experience, true essence of British country life and nice break from urban hectic life
One more thing I would like to suggest is to have check out time extended by an hour to keep in line with liesurly pace of the place.

Hotel is positioned next to a railway track with lots of caravan sites and camping fields. It is very quiet and in walking distance to the beach. Good choice of breakfast from fruit, cereals, toast and full English. If you want just a breakfast sandwich they will do that also.

We didn't get the room I reserved.

We arrived to find my reservation was not met. I reserved a family room, one double bed and bunk beds.
The staff there expressed that they had not received anything about our stay.
Very dissapointed about this and had to share a double bed with my daughter whilst my son took the single bed.
My children and myself were happy with the quality of the hotel, staff and food but the negativity of not getting the room we paid for outweighed the positive experience.
