Hotel Kugel Wien was a wonderful experience for the first stay of our honeymoon. The room itself was cute and romantic, and the location was great, a trendy area with some great cafes and a short walk to shopping as well as historical sites and the Museum Quarter. Christina was unbelievably helpful and friendly with check-in and offering recommendations for nearby restaurants, coffee, and sights to see. They even had a little surprise for us as they knew it was our honeymoon, and all the staff met us with smiles and warm welcomes. Would definitely recommend for a trip to Vienna.

We loved this property! Everyone was so cordial and helpful, in fact we had to give Christina (the owner) a big hug when we left. Breakfast was amazing! And tram transportation in front of the door, what else do you need?

Lovely small hotel in a perfect location - bus from train station and tram line anywhere you need to go in Vienna but walkable everywhere apart from Belvedere.

Kugel was convenient and close to transportation to all the sights. There were a lot of dining options nearby. Clean hotel, with friendly staff. The hotel itself appeared dated. But it was reasonably priced with breakfast included it was value for money.

This hotel is lovely but it's the staff who make the stay so good. They are so kind and accommodating.

There was work on the street during our stay which was very noisy but we were thoughtfully provided with earplugs and a complimentary bottle of fizz! The noise did not cause a problem.

Breakfast is included in the already reasonable price and it varied and fresh - fruit, yoghurt, breads, jams, cereal, sausage & eggs, continental meats & cheeses, the staff even offered to make special vegan options and they are flexible with the times it is served.

The room itself was very nice with a four-poster bed and chandelier.
I honestly can not fault this place.

If you like a more older style hotel, this is it. Very quaint. However, the bathroom is new and updated. We liked it for its aged charm.

The staff is super friendly. They upgraded us which was a very pleasant surprise.

The breakfast was very enjoyable with lots of choices of breads and fruit spreads. They had a venison sausage which we quite enjoyed. The served some traditional Viennese items.

Location is great. A few blocks from a local Christmas market, huge pedestrian shopping mall, and the metro to the airport.
(one direct train). Walking distance (1.5 km) to many important landmarks. 2 min walk to a Schnitzelwirt Restaurant for great schnitzel. (delicious, affordable, large portions so do share)

I would recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

Little gem of a hotel

Really enjoyed our stay at this friendly family run hotel. Service was excellent, with all staff being very helpful. Breakfast was excellent with good quality produce within a relaxed atmosphere. Well located for the tourist attractions! Comfortable 4 poster bed and good shower, only be negative was that our room had still to be refurbished. Good value for money!

Nice hotel, but open windows in a busy city?

Nice property in a fine location. We had two rooms, ours was very nice, our friend's was so-so. This property doesn't have air conditioning and there are streetcars running right below so may be a bit noisy for some at night.

The location was central to cultural institutions and Christmas Markets - a trolly stops right outside the door and the metro is 3 blocks away, with bank, grocery store, restaurants and shops within blocks. The breakfast is a highlight- included with the room charge and excellent. Accommodations were made for my gluten free status. What a tremendous staff! So helpful and informative. We had a lovely stay.

I'd go back in a minute

I arrived in the early evening and everything went very smoothly with the check in. The room was very nice, the staff welcoming and very helpful, and the breakfast excellent. I asked to stay a little after the scheduled check-out so I could spend an extra hour at the Bruegel exhibit at the nearby art museum and the hotel accommodated my request. The only issue, and it was minor, is that the shower was very small. But all in all, both the stay and the staff could not have been nicer.

I spent 4 nights in Hotel Kugel and it was very good..staff were friendly and the couple who run it were very helpful with advice on getting around Vienna, where to eat locally, organising cabs to the airport and packing tricky items for return flights. The room was good, clean with comfortable bed, windows that open, with life outside. Breakfast seems to be largely organic and catered for most tastes. I was on the third floor and the room was quiet enough especially in such a central location. It felt very comfortable and safe so fine for travelling solo, and easy to walk to galleries, museums, music venues, theatres and other tourist spots.

Nice hotel, within walking distance of city stuff

We (my husband and 2 children) were there pre-Chrsitmas. We much enjoyed our breakfast and time in the city. Within a block or 2 all public transportation seemed to be available. We got good directions and encouragement from the hotel staff. I was there for 2 days without my husband and the kids and explored and enjoyed the surrounding neighborhoods. Felt totally safe.

lovely romantic hotel in the Centre of Vienna

the staff and organization. it was brilliant! Especially Mr. Roller the owner of Hotel Kugel was so helpful to give us recommendations what we really shouldn't miss in Vienna. And we were really pleasantly surprised when we found a bottle of champagne and chocolate in our room for tour anniversary.

The rooms are super cute - Laura Ashley style. For sightseeing it is always important that you have a comfi matress - I get easily backpain otherwise. It was so comfy that we overslept the last day and had to rush to the airport.

The breakfast is organic with lovely jam's and homemade cheese-spread.

We loved absolut everything about this hotel and will come back again for sure!

Nice hotel but no air conditioning in July!!!

The Kugel hotel is in a decent part of town with lots of restaurants, shops and easy public transportation. The hotel itself felt little run down but was charming with each room decorated in a unique fashion. The rooms were good sized, the bathrooms were fine and the included breakfast was very good. The front desk staff was very helpful. Everything was great except NO AIR CONDITIONING IN JULY. I suppose we are spoiled Americans and they did provide a fan but....We had to keep our windows open and the trolley passed just below. Needless to say, it was a little tough sleeping.

Vibrant location close to centre

Great hotel with stylish, very large rooms with nice themes (Chinese mine) and very good service - my kettle was broken and they replaced it staight away. They also sent me the laptop cable I had forgotten in my room. Very clean, my room was noisy because it was overlooking the road, no aircon so better to leave the window open, but the double windows really keep the noise out. The hotel is in a very vibrant area of Vienna with health food stores, cafes and yoga studios.

Vienna Kugel great stay

Hotel Kugel was a great find thanks to the valuable advice from our Viennese friend. This location was convenient to busses, trams and a parking garage where we left our car. Walking was safe and offered another option to visit many restaurants, stores and delicious sorbet stops.
The entire staff was friendly, knowledgable and the hotel prepared an absolutely scrumptious breakfast every morning.
We experienced unseasonable warm weather and needed to open windows - the street is a bit noisy.

6 night stay 15 minutes from Museum Quartier.

I stayed 6 nights. Room was quiet and comfortable. Clean bathroom and nice bed, but a little creaky. Full tub with shower. No mini bar, but I didn't care. Friendly helpful staff. Room staff were like ninjas, in and out before I knew they were there. Decent location, too. Recommended.

The hotel is very close to the underground and the city center, however too close that you could hear the tram going by from the room. The hotel building is quite old, as the water pipe makes a loud noise every time I washed hands or taking shower.I stayed for only one night, the price is much cheaper than the previous hotel me and my friend stayed, but you get what you paid for.

Great location

A small hotel owned by a family,right in the heart of city . Rooms are small but very clean . No air conditioning makes the rooms pretty hot . Owners specially Cristina is very friendly and helpfull.which is the usp of hotel . We were to leave very early in the morning,they specially packed breakfast for us which was a nice gesture. Wi fi in the room works very well,all in all a small but good comfy central place with personal touch .

Where did it go wrong?

Desiring more space and comfort, I decided to pay more and booked a Triple Room (1 double bed and 1 single bed) for 2 of us under Booking no.8019945034598. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were only given a twin room as the hotel insisted that the booking was only for 2 persons and only allocated us the twin room. We still paid the higher rates for a triple room. To be fair, the hotel is clean, convenient, provides great breakfast, staff is friendly.Had I known, I would have straight away booked the cheaper twin room option.

Only concern is the rooms do not have an air conditioner so you need to leave the windows open and it is noisy all night

Loved the room!

Hotel Kugel was a lovely boutique hotel just outside of the Museum District in Vienna (approx. 5 min walk to the Museum Quarter). My wife and I were attracted to the hotel due to its good location, reasonable prices, free breakfast, and unique look. Despite the good reviews for Hotel Kugel, I was still surprised by how nice our room was. It seemed like everything in the room was very new or well taken care of, despite how old the rest of the hotel appeared to be. The bathroom was also in very good shape and the beds were very comfortable.

My only complaint about Hotel Kugel was the amount of noise that came from the street outside during the night. There is a tram line that runs directly in front of the building that can be quite loud late at night or early in the morning. The noise was compounded by the fact that we kept our window open at night to keep the room cool.

All in all the quality of the hotel outweighed the problem with the noise from outside. The friendly staff, good breakfast, free Wi-Fi and the overall comfort of the room would make the inclined to give Hotel Kugel a look if we were ever back in Vienna. Four Stars.

Wonderful Vienna Hotel

We last visited Vienna in December 2001. We stayed at Hotel Kugal for about ten days and loved the hotel's traditional atmosphere and gracious host and proprietor Hannes Roller. We always knew that we would stay here again when we came back to this great city.

Hotell nära allt i Wien + utmärkta coronarutiner

Nära allt du behöver i ett av Wiens charmigaste kvarter. Hotellet har en typisk österrikisk sfär - inte ett av dessa hotell som ser ut som alla andra. Stora rum och mycket fräscha badrum. Perfekt coronaanpassat också. Frukost med egen servering och mycket gästvänlig personal. Hit återvänder man gärna.

Charmant hotel met veel sfeer en karakter. Kamer was niet perfect schoongemaakt en hier en daar een beetje vervallen, maar het ontbijt en met name het personeel maakte alles goed. Het personeel is super vriendelijk en attent en erg gastvrij!

Trotz Mängel durchaus empfehlenswert ...

Obwohl es doch einiges auszusetzen gab/gibt, würde ich das Hotel Kugel weiterempfehlen und auch selbst wieder buchen.

Positiv:
tolle Lage, Bim + Bus direkt am Hotel, Mariahilfer Str + U-Bahn zu Fuß leicht erreichbar, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants + Gasthäuser, etc
Frühstück sehr gut, Personal ausgesprochen freundlich; gutes WLAN (kostenlos).

Negativ:
etwas abgewohnt, die Zimmer sehr klein (aber noch ausreichend), Dusche wirklich seeeeeehr klein (kaum ausreichend), keine Ablage für (große) Koffer, Straßenlärm (ist aber noch auszuhalten), Aufbau des Himmelbetts läßt das Zimmer noch kleiner erscheinen; fehlende Klimaanlage (der Tischventilator kann hier kaum Abhilfe schaffen!).
