A great city break

A very nice modern hotel with good facilities. Web site didn't say that parking had to be paid for, only that parking was available. Overall the service was good, although the breakfast food was slow to be replenished and often ran out of certain items long before the end of breakfast service.

really enjoyable vacation

took a short vacation on way back from seeing wifes family in Trier, hotel was welcoming set just outside the city ( bus runs regularly) to and fro. Saw all the sites and enjoyed flamkuchen and wine in Weinsinnig stube. Will definetly go back again. Hotel had an excellent 2 tyoes of sauna & steam room we tried out.

Nice Hotel at the Park

I studied for several years in Trier and thought to stay one day at this hotel. now being back after many years I did and was not disappointed. The stuff is friendly and service is good. Not sure if they have an international 4 star ranking by certificate, guess they are somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I am luxury hotel design professional and think Nells is doing a good job. I was happy with my stay overall.

The room information leaflet was a bit hidden, could be improved to be easy to find.
Fresh fruits on the room would be nice and gives the chance to place a knife in the room.
No complementary water, no coffee, no water heater, things to improve.

The staff at Nells Park understand and practice hospitality well! The service during our stay was fantastic. Rooms and all amenities excellent. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast here - both were outstanding. If this hotel was closer to the beaten track, I would rate it 11/10. Highly recommend it!

Great staff!

The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful they made our stay so much better. The spa is also nice and a good option after a log day of biking around town. The food in the restaurant is ok, they could do better than that. The neighborhood around the hotel is a bit weird perhaps more boring than weird, not much to do around, but if you're planning on going around the city by bike and to the wineries near by (that was exactly what we did) then it's a very good location.

Hotel situated on the edge of a park. Half hour walk to city centre, bus option, lovely town, many historical sites to visit and great shopping. River trips on the Mosul well worth it.

Comfortable hotel in a good location.

A very comfortable hotel in a good location-with parking (5euros a night). This was only an overnight stop so we didn't go into the town as we had visited it previously but I think it's close to the centre. We had an excellent evening meal and a good breakfast. There is a nice bar and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were there for a weekend trip. The Room didn't have a refrigerator nor air conditioning. For this price, and being a 4-Star hotel, i expect it to have these things. Plus the parking is payable.

Nice spacy room on groundfloor with terrace. Only difficulty was that last days the guests on the floor above us (room with balcony)
were chain -smokers. Sitting outside on their balcony made our sitting outside impossible. Also in our bedroom we could smell the smoke. The offer for another room wa declined.

A most wonderful experience.

We booked a room for 1 night as our son's wedding reception was held at the hotel. When we arrived, we were met by very attentive wait staff. We enjoyed a wonderful light lunch with the wedding party, then checked into the room. What a wonderful, quaint, beautiful, comfortable room! The hotel was very quiet. Staff were alert, attentive and polite.
The wedding reception could not have been more delightful. The wait staff were amazing! The food was exceptional. The ambiance was superb. Again, the wait staff need to be acknowledged as very professional. For example, when they were serving the food, they wore white gloves and made eye contact with each other so to set the food on the table at the same moment. We could not have been more impressed. Thank you Nells Park staff for making our visit from California so memorable.

Excellent family-run German hotel

A good non-chain hotel in a lovely setting with park and lake immediately to the rear of the hotel. Food is good, rooms comfortable without being too 'businessy', parking is 5 euros a day (moan) but is immediately in front of the hotel. Internet is free but comes in at around 1mb at best. My only crib is that mattresses are quite firm but that is a personal thing which may actually suit some people more than it does me.
This is a typical, good independent German hotel. But if you are not German, the menu caters for a wide variety of taste. I had steak and trimmings one night (not the best but fine), tagliatelli with truffles the next.
You would have to be very fussy to find any serious gripes about the place.

Such a great, comfortable hotel. It's about 1.5 miles from the city center and all the sites. Public transportation (bus) is easily obtained from the hotel, which sits on Nells Park. The setting is fantastic and the staff is helpful and friendly.

Great hotel in Trier. Brilliant staff, very helpful and accomodating. The bed was terribly uncomfortable. We ate our Anniversary Dinner in the Resteraunt in the hotel in the \"winter garten\". The food was amazing but we were seated uncomfortably close to strangers throughout our meal. The breakfast buffet was delicious and a much better seating arrangment.

Decent hotel just out of town.

Best if you have a car as close to motorway and roads north to Mosel valley. There is bus service into town - about 10 minute ride. Pleasant park behind hotel. Single room accommodation was rather sparse. No fridge, no tea/coffee maker, only 3 hangers. Carpet rather tired. Small bathroom was OK and clean. Shower worked well, but no shelf for accessories. Decent TV but no movies. Free internet was good. Hotel restaurant food was very good but limited choice, especially of more reasonably-priced items. Excellent local wines. Recommend the dry Riesling for about 5 euros for a small carafe. Breakfast was average. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful and spoke English.

Location, location, location.

A very nice place right on a magnificent city park complete with a large pond and numerous ducks, geese, swans and herons. Perhaps a little far from the downtown core unless you like to walk but there is excellent municipal bus service for a Euro or two. About a 7 Euro taxi fare from the Main Bahnhof. Trier is a beautiful city with numerous UNESCO attractions/sites. Worth a day or two for a good look around.

The webb photo shows the hotel in a lovely park what is dosn't show is the front which is adjasent a busines estate.. I booked two rooms my frends were put on 3rd floor where I was in the basement - the room window was at car park level so the view was the underside of a car with exhaust fumes coming in when I openned the window. Staff appeared indifferent - I will not return

A gem!

Located about 8-10 minutes by taxi from the train station, the hotel is situated on the border of a park. You can catch the local bus to/from the town center at the park entrance across from the roundabout. The front desk staff spoke english and were helpful and courteous. Our room decor is Laura Ashley/country charm. Rooms that face the park are higher priced. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. Service was very attentive. There was a very nice selection of quality breakfast items. It was an enjoyable stay. We would return.

We were very happy with the hotel other than the exceptionally hard beds and the fact that you only have a doona (no lighter cover) even when its hot. We come from Australia where is a lot warmer so I thought in Europe people would feel the heat more than us & provide a top sheet but no one knows what they are. All Aussies I know say the same.

lovely park setting but long walk from the centre

We stayed 2 nights, but could not enjoy the full atmosphere of Trier as all shops are closed on Sundays and fewer eating places available.
We were very impressed with the Basilica; fascinating history, well presented. Don't miss this, even if the weather is good.
Reaching Trier from Nell's Park Hotel is easy by bus, but it’s pricey, and only once an hour on Sundays. So we walked back along the river. Sadly it was long and boring.
Nell’s Park hotel has a lovely situation alongside a park (but also borders a retail and industrial area). If it's warm a meal on the hotel terrace gives a lovely view of the park.
The hotel’s décor is upmarket and our room was spacious with a nice view and one of the best bathrooms and shower we have had. It appeared brand-new with high quality fittings
Strangely the hotel’s food did not match its décor. Food seemed quite formulaic, although it was well presented. After our dining experiences in France, it was very overpriced.The wine choice especially was very disappointing for a hotel of its class and we were sorry not to be able to sample more German wines. The selection of breads at breakfast was good but other parts were very standard.
The hotel was easy to find and had reasonably-priced parking, our main reasons to choose it but the meals were disappointing

Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. However, my husband had an injury, which unfortunately caused some blood on the sheet when his bandage loosened. The cleaning staff made the bed the following day, but they never changed the sheet! They smoothed the sheet down, and clearly would have seen it. The cleaning staff was our only complaint about the hotel.

The hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff and the park is a nice setting. Why I named this review Honest Hotel was that I left my bag with all our passports/credit cards/iphone everything important you can think of on a chair in the restaurant patio section and didn't realize it until the next morning. I think Jet lag had finally caught up to me. Anyway, my purse was safe and sound with not one iota missing.

Nells Park Hotel, a relaxing esperience

My husband and I received a friendly welcome when we arrived after a tiring journey. The front desk staff member was kind and efficient. Later that evening she willingly came to demonstrate again the room entry system, though she had already shown us when we arrived. Next morning, the desk staff helped us get to our next hotel, showing us on a map and even providing hotel transport, which we needed due to our luggage.

We found the room comfortable, though the bathroom was rather small in the toilet area.

The food served in the evening was superb, and the breakfast nest morning was equally pleasant.

We have stayed at this hotel several times when traveling in this area, and each time we have been very satisfied with the accommodations and the breakfast is delicious! Although it is a distance from the Porta Nigra, it is about a half hour enjoyable walk or if you prefer, the bus station is very close to the hotel. Restaurant Postillion, on Hezogenbuscher Str, is not far away and had great food. I recommend that you try it!

Hotel Nells Park

We stayed 1 night at this hotel as a stopover. The approach to the hotel is not very inspiring as it is located opposite an industrial park. The hotel is about 10 mins drive from Trier city centre. To park in the hotel you have to pass through a barrier - the ticket is charged on your bill. The hotel reception was much more upmarket and the staff were very friendly. Our room was a good size and very clean, the only issue was it faced the road outside and road noise was quite loud with the windows open. The restaurant was very nice and has a covered terrace which leads into the park - on a summer evening this is a nice place to have a meal, the food was very good. Breakfast is buffet style with a good selection.
All in all a good place to stay , If I stayed there again I would get a room facing the park.

Warm and lovingly decorated room

Lovingly decorated room with balcony looking out into a small park with a fountain and swans (we paid for an upgrade). Warm and friendly service throughout the hotel. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast which was elegantly served (breakfast buffet) in a bright room with white tablecloth covered tables. We also had dinner and enjoyed the local food and atmosphere.

As mentioned earlier, although the room had an overall romantic touch, we had to get used to the rather small size by American standards. However, that would not prevent us from staying there again.

A quiet haven from the city, and a welcome break on a journey

The hotel was well-placed beside a park, and had a lovely, restful ambience. Our room was on the sunny side, a little small so a bit stuffy at night. . The tranquil situation was ideal for us after a long journey. It had plenty of activities on offer, but we had no time to use them. You wouldn't really want to walk onto the city from here, but there is an easy and frequent bus nearby
I would certainly recommend it for couples of all ages, also families due to its situation..

Nells Park Hotel

A nice hotel with a terrace that looks out over the rear garden that in turn leads to a park with a very large duck pond. Very nice to take a stroll there. You can rent bikes at the hotel as well. Nell Parks Hotel is situated away from the city center and pretty close to a predominantly commercial area. It has a very friendly English-speaking staff. The hotel has an elevator, a public-access computer at no charge and a nice looking bar. We enjoyed an excellent dinner there and an abundant breakfast. We reported some minor maintenance issues like a missing lightbulb and an annoying squeak of the bathroom door. Overall a good hotel that I would recommend to other travelers.

Lovely & Quaint Hotel

What a wonderful way to begin our visit in Trier, Germany. The hotel staff was so helpful, friendly and hospitable at all times. The rooms were clean, cheerful and done in a colorful French decor. The complimentary morning buffet was outstanding and we looked forward to having a great cappacinos, fresh fruits, cheeses, eggs, breads and German breakfast cuisine, such a great way to start one's day! Another feature of this lovely hotel, is that its patio is surrounded by lovely rose gardens which lead into a beautiful park with a large pond which is inhabited by beautiful swans. AWH! How wonderful it was to take morning and evening walks in that park! All in all a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to return there.

EXcellant location,easy to find.Situated in a public part so great for gentle walks.5 mins drive to centre of Trier or can use good bus service.Our bedrooms were clean but very basic & in need of an update but the public spaces are first class. Very helpful staff.The food is excellant & you have choice of formal restaurant or more informal seating areas most with a view of the park.One word of warninmg it is a popular wedding hotel so if you are unlucky you may get noisy guests in the early hours of the morning disturbing your sleep

My wife and I enjoyed our 2 day stay at Nells Park. The staff spoke good English and were very efficient and friendly. Dinner and breakfast were high quality. Our room was comfortable, with an excellent high pressure shower. Didn't use the sauna as the weather was so good. The situation next to the public park is very pretty, although it would have been an uninteresting 30 minute walk into the city centre , if we hadn't had a hire car. We loved Trier and would recommend the excellent value Nells Park if you decide to visit.

Lovely hotel

This hotel was very comfortable and charming situated next to a nice park. It is about a mile and a half from town center and Porta Nigra, but there is convenient city bus service located nearby that will get you to the shopping area and train station if you are not up to walking that far. The daily breakfast was wonderful and we looked forward to it each day of our stay. The staff was very helpful and spoke English to help us with any questions. We arrived early and were allowed to check into our room early. There is a nice market nearby if you wish to purchase fresh fruits, bakery items, drinks, or snacks. It was a very nice place to stay and I would stay there again.

The hotel was nice, especially the dining and entry. The park around the hotel was nice as well. The service was excellent. The room was a disappointment because the furniture was sparse and the wood was damaged and it was overall clean but not in very good condition. That's what you get for the \"basic\" room I guess. The breakfast was outstanding, the best I've ever had at a hotel.

Beautiful park location

This hotel sits adjacent to a large park. This creates beautiful views from many of the rooms as well as from the restaurant (outside eating on the deck is also available). The rooms are nice sized and very clean. The staff were very nice. The breakfast consisted of a large buffet; something of a blend between the typical European breakfast with croissants, wholegrain cereal, etc. and an American style with eggs and bacon.

Zimmer in der 3. Etage, direkt über der Küche, so dass wir mit Lärmbelästigung leben mussten.
Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Essen und Trinken waren gut.

Het diner en het ontbijt was goed. De kamer had een hele kleine douche met onhandige vouwdeuren. De kamer was gehorig. Wel schoon en een lekker bed. En helaas geen gebruik kunnen maken van de welnessfaciliteiten vanwege de beperkte openingstijden.

Tolles Personal, Super Hotel, Terrasse mit erstklassigem Essen. Leider hatte mein Zimmer keine Klimaanlage ud keine Möglichkeit durchzug zu schaffen. Der Versuch mit einem Ventilator zu arbeiten war leider erfolglos.

Lieblingshotel!

Mein Lieblingshotel in Trier. Wunderbare Lage direkt am/im Park, eine tolle große Terrasse ins Grüne. Sehr schöne moderne Zimmer, ausgesprochen geschmackvoll und ein kleines bisschen extravagant eingerichtet. Es gibt eine große Hotelsauna mit toller Dachterrasse. Wer ein E-Bike dabei hat (oder eines beim Hotel mietet), kommt stressfrei in unter 10 Minuten in die Innenstadt über einen eigens angelegten Fahrradschnellweg - oder etwas länger, dafür wunderschön entlang der Mosel.

Ok.
Hatten allerdings drei nicht saubere Handtücher und im Fitnessstudio war abends kein Strom.
Zimmerservice konnte man aus Umweltfreundlichkeit abwählen und hat dafür sogar ein Geschenk bekommen.
Wellness-Bereich ist gut. Schöne Sonnenterrasse.

Dusche ein schlechter Witz und zu heiße Zimmer

Die Lage des Hotels ist gut, wir waren für ein Konzert in der Arena und diese ist fußläufig in unter 5 Minuten zu erreichen.
Zu Fuß schafft man es in ca. 30-35 Minuten in die Stadt.

Parkplätze gibt es etwas wenig, wir hatten aber Glück, da wir schon früh Morgens da waren.
Positiv war, dass wir bereits um 13:30 Uhr auf das Zimmer konnten, obwohl erst ab 15:00 angegeben war.

Die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber sehr sauber.
Was allerdings gar nicht ging, war die Dusche.
Der Duschkopf konnte nur senkrecht angebracht werden, egal auf welcher Höhe man diese platzierte: Statt Wasser von oben bekam man es immer voll ins Gesicht.
Also musste der Duschkopf in die Hand genommen und so geduscht werden.
Ich war privat und auch dienstlich schon in vielen Hotels, aber sowas habe ich noch nicht erlebt.
Das in einem 4-Sterne Hotel ist schon ziemlich schwach.

Als wir Abends nach dem Konzert aufs Zimmer kamen, war es unerträglich heiß im Raum.
Leider gibt es keine Klima-Anlage, also mussten wir die ganze Nacht das Fenster geöffnet lassen.
Ein Schlafen mit Decke war auf Grund der Hitze im Zimmer nicht möglich.
Die Matratzen waren aber gemütlich.

Da eine Hochzeitgesellschaft bis spät in die Nacht im angrenzenden Festsaal und auf dem Innenhof lautstark alle im Hotel unterhielt, konnte man kein Auge zumachen.
Das mag jetzt schlechter Zufall gewesen sein, aber es wird vermutlich des Öfteren Veranstaltungen dort geben.
