Booked this hotel for 2 nights and the room we were initially given had a really bad smell and was on the 3rd floor. We requested to change this as I had a bad knee and was not able to manage that many stairs as there are no lifts. We were given another room which was very nice.
I just want to give a big shoutout to GAGA who was absolutely lovely, she is the most sweetest person ever. Thank you Gaga for everything you did for us ❤️❤️

You can tell that at one point, this hotel was all the rage. It is still beautiful, but some upgrades are visibly needed. For some reason they are very strict on the check-in process. Even 5 minutes before the official check-in time, we were told to wait. If the rooms are ready, I think they should allow guests to check-in. Instead, they had everyone wait in the lobby until exactly 3pm, which created a bit of chaos. But the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was amazing, and the location is perfect (away from the main street but close enough to walk everywhere).

Good location, situated on edge of Karon beach, just next to Kata beack, both lovely. Hotel staff friendly and helpful, lots of trees and wooden walkways. Adults only pool and Club lounge offering teas and coffees through the day.

Hotel was nice. Rooms are pretty small. Didn’t care for their breakfast buffet, I wish they had a more authentic Thai breakfast. Considering Phuket is a very tourist area, it was still hard to communicate with the staff. Also wish they had a complimentary shuttle to the airport.

An okay place, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

The hotel itself is beautiful and we had okay customer service for the most part. Everyone was polite and friendly. It has a beautiful location and they will Take you back and forth to the Main Street in a Tuk Tuk so you don’t have to walk up and down the hill. It is more than an hour to get to from the airport and will cost you about 1200 bhat each way. They broke one of our bags when the bellhop was bringing our bag to the rooms for us, but refused to take responsibility for it. They said it must have happened at the airport, however it was working correctly when we arrived at the hotel. They also tried to put three people in a room with one king size bed until we made them change it. Lastly, the room was INCREDIBLY humid at night because there are visible gaps in the window seals and the humidity gets into the room. They did offer is one night of vouchers for the dinner buffet to try to make us happy which was okay, but by that point we were so frustrated with the bag being broken and not being able to sleep well due to the humidity in the room at night that it really didn’t make a difference.

It is on a little hill but not far from the beach. There is a tuk tuk runs up and down the hill at your convenience. We got there a bit early but the room was already ready for us and they let us in early!
Good things- Friendly staff,
spacious room( we were upgraded),
nice pools, a games room for kids,
Picnic mats - very useful
Free shuttle to Parong

Things need to improve
Bathroom sink needed a bit of fixing- the cleaning lady must have seen it but she just left it unattended which I found very odd.
Kids club is just a sad looking playground. It looked empty all the time we were staying. Overall, we were very happy with the resort.

Pros: Lovely location, relatively quiet depending on room location, food choice (breakfast) excellent.

Cons: Steep hill, mini mart expensive and not much choice, theme nights expensive, pool regulations clearly sign posted not adhered too (kids jumping and diving, using water guns) not a very relaxing atmosphere. Having the luxury of 2 pools maybe one should be adults only!!

Nice design of pool and garden area. The gym is good too. Room was really nice. Location is good, can walk to Kata beach.
Some reception staff is rude and needs more training. An email has been sent to the management about a few matters. Food in breakfast buffet is poor. Rice wasnt even cooked properly or overheated b4 servuce. Poor selection and variety of food.

Great food - superb staff and nice resort.

Would highly recommend.

Really relaxing vacation which was exactly what we wanted.

Had a late flight out so asked for a later check out. Originally said it was not possible but they then called to say that we could check out 2 hours late for free. Awesome.

As I said very accommodating staff and highly recommended.

A Thailand styled resort with some age, but in great condition. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and had plenty of amenities. Easy to get around the resort, to the pools etc. Great breakfast outside on covered porch. Beautiful gardens and swiming pools. Great place to stay and easy to get around. Just down the hill plenty of restaurants/shops and they have a fast shuttle to get you up and down the hill. Fun place with great staff.

When we checked in, we found out they were kind enough to upgrade us to club except we have a 15 year old son and the minimum age is 18. Thus we had to change rooms the next day so we didn’t really settle in until the following afternoon. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it was a pain. They did their best to make us happy as rules are rules. They graciously let us have a late check out on the last day.

All in all the resort is fine. It is dated but most are in Phuket. Our toilet required ZERO paper products, which is why I rated the facilities average. For those new to Phuket, be prepared for a more undeveloped atmosphere than the Caribbean.

Karon beach is lovely & hotel offers a free shuttle to their sister hotel in Patong which is very useful!

Facilities are very nice- it was just a shame about the room but you get what you pay for!

Overall a nice hotel, a few hick ups with staff telling me one thing and then finding out that it was not true. Leak in bathroom not fixed when reported, but the shower head was replaced as it was faulty. OUR ROOM ATTENDANT WAS JUST LOVELY. Would stay again although food is not great, in fact its needs to be addressed.

Horrible first impression but inproved over time

Initially we were placed in a smaller, cheaper room then what we'd paid for. It was in a horrible location of the resort. We walked through the beautiful grounds of the resort only to be led to a dark dank area with smelly public bathrooms, a flickering overhead light, and a musty odor to accompany our ugly view of the resort's huge blue water barrels. Once inside the room I saw that all the shelves were dirty and or dusty, the shower curtain had spots of mold, and there was a streak of dried blood on the outer part of the bathroom sink. Clearly this room hadn't been properly cleaned. Then, to make matters worse, I find out later in the evening that THIS ENTIRE RESORT DOES NOT PERMIT GUESTS TO FLUSH USED TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET! I do not understand how a resort can be considered 4 Stars when their guests are forced to put used toilet paper into their trash cans. When I spoke to the front desk regarding the toilets, they initially tried to claim that this is the case in ALL of Thailand. Yet when I told them the toilets in Bangkok worked fine, they lied again and claimed all of the toilets within Phuket are unable to flush toilet paper.Despite these many mishaps, Horizon refused to give us any money back or permit us to check-out early. There was never even an apology. There was an attitude that since they already had our money, we were stuck and they couldn't have cared less about our discomfort, or about the fact that we'd been given the wrong room.

Disappointing Stay

We were disappointed with the Resort. Our first room had a horrible smell. We spoke to someone at reception and we were moved to a different room. The new room was better (i.e. no smell) however it wasn’t very clean, the bed was awful and the room looked run down. The next day we got a phone call from reception about our room. When we went to reception to ask what the phone call was about we were told that no-one had phoned. We waited for an hour for someone to phone us back and no-one ever did. Breakfast in the morning was good. Dinner on the first night was ok but over priced. The pool area was lovely. Given the number of hotels/resorts nearby I’m not sure we would choose to stay here again. The hotel is advertised as a four star but felt more like a three star.

Good stay in Karon

Good location for a family. Away from the craziness if Bangla Road and other hotspots. It's smack at the junction between Karon and Kata beaches. Loads of eateries and shops in both directions. Except the hotel being up a hill. There's a tuk-tuk to bring you down but at night we couldn't find the phone booth we are supposed to use to call it again to bring it up. We are quite fit but it was still a struggle making it back up while carrying my boy at the end of tired day. They also provide transport to the
Ir other hotel in Patong which is awesome. Except the first bus is only at 1.30pm so if you want to go earlier you'll need to get something else. The hotel grounds are big with lots of steps which can get slippery when wet. The costlier rooms are right next to reception and have their private pool so you can avoid the walk if you take that. The pool was nice and there are 3 in the main areas. The gym was adequate for our short stay. Had I stayed a week iy would not have been. Children's club was decent. We bought the buffet dinner for 2 from reception and our 4yr old was supposed to be free, however the restaurant guys tried to charge us after we had finished our meal. Hotel provided beach towels, mats and umbrellas. The beach close to the hotel ( down the hill and across the road) was not usable due to mo soons but we brought them to patong and had a great time there. Overall would defo consider this place again.

The staff was respectful and helpful despite language barrier with some of them. The service was excellent. Room was spacious and comfortable. Gym was excellent with good equipment. Enjoyed the swimming pool and its facilities. Only trouble we had was that the resort in on top of a VERY steep hill and we had to take a Tuk Tuk to go down to the shops (500 meters). The resort provided a free Tuk Tuk service, the phone at the bottom of the hill did not always work when we needed to order the Tuk Tuk on the return trip, so we had to climb up the distance. The are itself, Karon, is suitable for those who are seeking relaxation and not much hustle and bustle, not like Patong. Really enjoyed our time there.

We were on the \"privilege club\" side of the hotel and it was very nice. As a group of four adults, we were able to enjoy a kid free pool. The pools are very nice and kept clean. There are a few benefits to privilege club that I wish I had time to take advantage of. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay here. Karon Beach is the more peaceful side of Phuket and this hotel is close to the beach. I would stay here again.

Upon arrival the guest relation officer was cranky

She was not helpful and upon re approach she was worst. She should not be in such a position. Concierge was lazy and slow. All other staff were extremely helpful. Food was great . resort is getting a bit old for the price. OK on special with food included.
Located well for the beach however a long way from every thing.

Check-in was easy and we got upgraded as well so it even got better. Love the staff they are easy to talk to and friendly.

Everything is good except for one that we don't have toothbrush,toothpaste, comb in the room. I mean those are necessity too.
The concierge there were days they are helpful and there were days they were not. I guess it depends who you're dealing with.

Overall, I will still come back as we got upgraded and the SPA was great and most staff are really friendly and nice.

Really good hotel, good location, would definitely recommend. Located on a bit of a hill, but the hotel provides a free tuk tuk service to/from the bottom of the hill. Staff at the hotel were amazing and very accommodating. We are vegetarian and the breakfast menu was one of the best we’ve experienced. A large variety of cuisines available at breakfast including continental, Thai and Indian.
The hotel is very close to Karon beach which I thought was the best beach in the area. The hotel provides beach mats and umbrellas for you to use. Kata beach is about a 10min walk and Patong is a 20-30min drive away. The hotel provide a free shuttle to and from Patong.
We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times, Mexican, Thai and Indian food available, reasonably priced and food was good.
Facilities at the hotel were good, 2 swimming pools, gym and kids corner available.

Had a great honeymoon!

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the junior sweet for our honeymoon holiday. The room itself was extremely clean and well kept. Bathroom was large and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Was great to have our own pool access and private lounge chairs. We were very happy with the room and had a great time using it! We were staying in the privilege area which was lovely and relaxing.
I provided the following feedback to staff. The breakfast and pool bar staff were friendly at all times. However we did mention that the tuk tuk staff were very unfriendly compared to other staff. We had to wait 30 mins to collect our bags at the end when we were waiting to check out, and the staff were quite rude and asked my husband to carry the remainder of the bags as they did not bring the trolley down. We also had maintenance to a broken door with 3 people trying to fix it, it was the door leading to the pool and had to be taken off to be fixed. We were not made aware of any maintenance and when entering the room, they did not ask if they could fix it, as we were laying 1 metre away relaxing on the pool chairs. It drew a lot of attention to us from everyone in the pool looking at what was going on.
All of this however was only a small part of the trip, and we would stay there again mainly due to the great rooms and adults only section. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our honeymoon.

We checked in late 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and were greeted by happy staff, although we were tired from travelling they were pleasant and understanding. Loved the fact they walk you to your room, open doors curtains, explain mini bar, facilities, lights, special promotion during your stay etc. Although tired and 10.30 pm we were able to have dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast was incredible plenty on offer and fresh, unlike some places were they leave the food until it's consumed. Plenty of chefs and staff on hand to cater for your every need. Quick tour of the resort after breakfast and we quickly knew where everything was, pools, swim up bar (very reasonably priced), Gym, day spa etc. Walk down a slight hill and within 3 mins you are at a beautiful clean beach. If you find that after a day at the beach you are too tired to walk up the (slight) hill, dial 2 at the bottom, and a Resort Tuk Tuk will pick you up. The resort is in the middle of everything, turn right and you head into Karon, plenty on offer, food, shops, massages, etc, turn left and walk to Kata and exactly the same.

I stayed in the hotel in Jan 2018 for 2 weeks. Very nice location in just 3 mins from the Karon and 15 mins from Kata beach, but the same time out of noisy road. Good food, happy hours with free drinks and snacks from 12 to 2 pm. Everything needed for the beach - umbrellas, towels etc.pools. Lots of flowers/palms/bananas to make the hotel surounding very green. Staff was very friendly and responsive. btw - as the hotel is located on the hill, there is a hotel's tuk-tuk to bring guests to and from the beach for free, you just need to call them. Hotel itself is not a very new, but it absolutely OK, real value for money

Close to Karon Beach

Overall the hotel was very nice, the pool was great and the grounds were well maintained. The exterior areas of the hotel could really benefit from a good pressure washing, they seemed worn and a smidgen dirty. The room was small (we were coming to Phuket after staying in Bangkok at much more spacious hotel) but had everything that we needed. We did encounter the inability to secure a lounge chair on most occasions that we went to the pool because people reserved them by throwing a towel on them but then stayed in the pool...only to grab the towel and leave after getting out of the pool (Even though management asked for people not to). I didn't feel like it was a super friendly hotel, but I think we're accustomed to staying in the Caribbean on vacation and they are much more geared towards American tourists and therefore are more of what we are used to. The staff was very nice anytime we needed assistance. Breakfast was an amazingly large diverse selection in a buffet style complete with an egg/omelette station. Delicious. The beach that was close by, down a little hill and reachable by Tuk-tuk or just a 5 minute walk. My kids really liked the tuk-tuk ride so we did that down the hill and mostly walked back up each time we went to the beach.
Overall, I would stay here again if we were to venture to Thailand again...but Phuket would be a very short part of my stay in Thailand. The beach was ok, the food was awesome but the north of Thailand really is more of our style.

We loved this hotel! The staff was very friendly, the onsite restaurant had tons of great options (and live music every night, which was awesome!), and the spa was wonderful (pricier than a Thai massage you could get down the road, but this was probably nicer). There were two pool areas and a small playground for kids- this would be a great hotel for a family! The beach is a short walk down the hill, or you can take the hotel 'shuttle' (a tuk-tuk) to the bottom of the hill & cross the street - even though it's not beachfront, it's still very accessible. I read that the hotel offers a shuttle to anywhere within a 15-mile radius but we never looked into that... could be helpful though! Would definitely recommend!

This is a great hotel close to the beach! The facilities are a little outdated and a facelift would probably would move this into a five star category, but the whole staff are very friendly and attentive! The 2 managers I met U-RAI and AON where both very considered, friendly and always around to attend to our needs! The breakfast buffet was also great and the guys making omelets where always on the upbeat and pleasant as well as all the staff serving us, the lady who attended to our daily was always smiling and pleasant. I give the staff and service 5 Star because they deserve it! Altogether it is a great hotel!

We enjoyed the stay in Karon Horizon Beach. The hotel was clean, it has a lot of green around, we benefited from the nice pool. The restaurant is fair, the service is good and overall the whole set up is very good for families. We recomend it!

Disappointing first impression

I booked this hotel for three friends and myself based on the impressive Expedia reviews. Our first impression of the hotel could not have been more disappointing. After travelling 15 hours from Australia, we arrived to find that they had allocated us the wrong room type (1 king bed instead of 2 queens). The staff proceeded to offer us stained/lumpy trundle beds and insisted there were no other rooms available. All of a sudden a room in the “privilege club” became available for a significant extra cost. When we insisted we didn’t want to pay extra for a superior room just because the hotel had stuffed up our booking (for which they blamed Expedia) the correct room “suddenly” became available. We felt totally scammed by the hotel and felt the reception staff were trying to take advantage of the fact we were 4 young girls travelling. Aside from this unfortunate incident the spa/restaurant/housekeeping staff were terrific and ensured the remainder of our stay was a good one.

Great Hotel

We loved our stay here, the hotel is great and the staff are really helpful. Location is nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle which is a short walk away allowing you to either completely relax or party all night if you wish.

Had a fantastic stay for our first visit to Thailand. Close to beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Staff at the Horizon could not do enough to help you and always with a smile 😊 . Pools were fab for young and old to cool off and swim up bar was most welcome! Buffet breakfast was a feast each day and has vege options which we needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful hospitality

Initially in garden room which had issues, but was immediately rectified by manager. Upgraded for a small cost and was extremely happy with everything. Staff were amazing, very respectful, polite and always obliging. I loved every day I was there and would definitely recommend Horizon Karon Beach to anyone. Unable to comment of regular rooms but our upgrade to the Privilage wing was definitely worth it. Room was bigger and better, our own pool for adults only and happy hour with free nibbles, coffee or drinks was a really nice touch and made us feel like VIP guests for our whole holiday.

Very relaxing and enjoyable. Wished we were there longer just so we can enjoy the pool and beautiful beach just down the road more often.

Thank you Horizon for making us feel so special.

Dusty Room & Chewing Gum Towel

Once we enter the hotel, it gave me the very welcome feeling by serving welcome drink and towel. But I never saw any smiles from the front counter staff, only the bell boys gave us lot of advise and services.

We had a garden view room and it spacious, but it smell dusty when we entered the room, since like long time didn’t use this room. Just got upset that 4 star hotel don’t provide toothbrushes for guest, i forgotten to bring mine hence asked from the front counter and was gaven a cold shoulder - she said is normal that Hotel don’t provide toothbrush... made me lookso cheap...

The towel was horrible as my kid found chewing gum on it....

One of my trip to potong using their free shuttle bus was terrible experience, was very crowded and they packed us like sardines.. it so dangerous and no safety prevention.

All overall I won’t come back to this resort again, there better one out there.

Wonderful Stay and Amazing Location

I couldn't speak more highly of our stay at Horizon Karon. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The facilities were great, a little dated, but still in great condition and very well looked after. The gardens were immaculate and the pool area is a lovely central hub in the hotel. Great breakfasts in the morning too, friendly staff, very attentive and delicious fresh food. You must try their spa, I had one of the best facials there, the staff are lovely and true professionals. The location is great too, a great spot on Karon Beach right at the bottom of the hill - the walk up can be a bit tedious, however they do offer the shuttle to and from the beach upon request, which is amazing, no other hotel offered us this service. I would definitely stay at Horizon Karon again and recommend it to anyone!

Nice resort close to beach with lots of facilities

The resort had lots to do with an adults only area. The adults only area has a lounge and pool. The beach is just down the hill; they offer a free tuktuk ride down to the main strip then it’s a few mins to the beach. The breakfast was good with lots of variety.

This is a very good hotel and I would definitely go back. The hotel has two pools and we decided to upgrade by choosing the adults only area. The benefits included lunchtime nibbles and a small choice of alcoholic drinks (not beer!!!) at lunchtime but also, tea,coffee and soft drinks all day until 8pm. The rooms are kept very clean and the breakfast spread each morning is huge! They do spray insecticide once a week (and give a warning as to when it is going to be) but we felt that it should be done 2/3 times a week, especially around the pool area as there several areas of standing water which definitely attracted some biting things!! The hotel is at the top of a short but steep hill but they do provide a courtesy tuc tuc up until 9pm if you can't or don't want to walk up or down it. There is also a courtesy bus in to Patong if you fancy a day out and the last one is quite late, around 11pm I recall.

Hotel could use a little update now, is good for the $$. Be prepared to walk up and down the hill, as it is a steep one. Although close to the beach and shops the tuk tuk doesn't always come and pick you up. Other than that, pretty decent hotel and staff is friendly and accommodating.

Great Holiday Destination

We stayed as a family of four for 12 days / 11 nights. From the moment we arrived until the time we departed we were treated exceptionally well. Check in was smooth and pleasant despite it being late at night. Our room was a little small for a family but we knew this when we booked. Although it was cluttered for the duration of our stay it was adequate. Overall it was comfortable enough with two double beds, a mini bar, safe and good sized bathroom. Lighting in the room was quite dim which made looking through suitcases for items a little frustrating, but with open curtains during the day it wasn't such a problem. The pool area was great for adults and kids alike and the swim up bar was very popular. The daily buffet breakfast had a great selection and dinners in the restaurant offered great variety. The gym was well equipped and not busy at any time. It was well air-conditioned and perfect for an early morning workout. The hotel location is also handy to Kata and Karon beaches, shops and restaurants. The location was also quite central for daily excursions throughout Phuket. Hotel staff were outstanding and this was be the highlight of our stay. All were very pleasant, thorough and attentive. Special mention must go to Jam who was especially friendly. Our kids loved her (as we did too) and she made our holiday more fun, friendly and enjoyable! Thank you Jam - you're a real gem!

Nice hotel, central and in a nice quiet position but only a short walk to a huge choice of restaurants, motor bike hire shops, massage shops, shopping and beaches. We stayed in the Club wing with its separate pool with swim up bar and lunch time drinks and snacks in the club privilege lounge. The room was a good size and had a big bath which was nice.
Really good breakfast with lots of choices - Asian and Western, with chefs on hand to cook your eggs (omelette) however you like them...
Overall a really nice hotel for families and couples...
The only down side which isn't even too bad is it can be a little busy around breakfast time in the buffet...

Nice Hotel Great Location

We arrived very early in the morning and received a room which was not what we had requested so after speaking with the front desk staff the following day we were relocated into an upgraded room in the privileged section. The staff were always pleasant and helpful, the breakfast buffet was excellent with a great selection each day. We used the free shuttle to their sister resort in Patong this was very reliable and useful way to see more of the area.

We had a really nice holiday and our stay at the 'Horizon Karon Beach Hotel' was very pleasant and comfortable. The staff are great and the only problem that occurred in our room {a leaking tap} was dealt with as soon as we reported it. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

1. My friend and I got food poisoning from eating at the hotel. At least they got a doctor for us (which we had to pay the bill)
2. Typical scam at the bar, I ordered one mojito drink but the bartender brought this and a grasshopper cocktail. I didn't even mention the grasshopper or pointed it on the menu.
3. On the plus, the reception and staff did their best to accommodate us and were always friendly.
4. Complimentary bus ride to Patong area.

Peaceful stay

We stayed for 4 nights, and for 3 days there was torrential rain, even then we loved the cosy atmosphere and the thoughtful touched like a local shuttle, umbrellas. The breakfast was excellent and the service faultless.
Loved it so much booked a further 5 nights at the HoriOn in Patong

Beautiful grounds poor servuce

The property is beautiful but the staff itself needs a little retraining in customer service. I found it difficult to communicate with most and a couple of the staff even gave us an attitude and ignored us. The restaurant on property is ok a little on the pricey side and the food isn't that great nor the drinks. Simply take the tuk tuk down the hill go to the left and you will encounter great restaurants for less and better good quality. Lastly I wasn't impressed with the kids game room opening at 11 and closing at 8 we are in vacation we should be able to access these areas at different time intervals especially if yours dealing with major jet lag like we were.
