overall service was poor, room was not cleaning well at each day. Incorrect linen left each ie: one towel for two ppl. I would not recommend this Korona Beach Resort & Spa to friends or family as there are many other resorts in the area who provide better overall service.

Good location for the beach and the town. The hotel itself was a bit dated and smelt a bit musty (especially the spa - although my husband said his massage was excellent). We didn't really use the restaurant or bars - the pool bar closed early evening and the restaurant had no atmosphere whatsoever. Breakfast was ok. Next time I will pay the extra for a resort which has more facilities and a beach view from the pool.

When we arrived at the hotel after a long day of travel, they told us our room had been cancelled by Expedia and we needed to pay them again directly. When I called Expedia this was not the case. We felt a though they were trying to scam us so we booked another room. Now, Expedia has been trying to contact them to figure out what was happening and they have no been returning any calls or emails.

I think the staff are excellent and the amenities are up to standard
I do however think charging over Au$55 to hire the key to a safety deposit box in your room is a bit cheeky given every other resort I've ever stayed in includes that amenity without extra cost

Horrible manager. He did not refund when we did not stay at the property at all. He overselled shabby looking hotel by falsely putting photos on lastminute.com.au. My mother who is 65 year old was put in a shabby room at 4AM in the morning. When we paid for Deluxe room they put us in a shabby dark room and DID NOT REFUND my money. Only for money making business with no hospitality towards customers.

You can’t really moan a ‘bout Karona!

We enjoyed our stay in this tired, three star hotel with a beach view. The beach was unswimmable because of rips and no lifeguards because it was low season. The hotel has seen better days but most things worked with the exception of wifi and hot water which took an eternity to come through. I only had cold showers as I couldn’t be bothered to wait for hot water. Wi fi was woeful. I had to sit on the balcony to get a weak signal and frequent drop outs. However, the place was clean and there is plenty of cheap eating nearby and staff are kind and nice but have limited language skills. Breakfast is a standard hotel buffet with cereal, fruit, bread and pastries and eggs done as you want them.it was a great place to use as a base and cheap so you get what you pay for.

Average hotel with great staff

We booked this Hotel near the beach. On the website it appeared to be well maintained and and a nice pool area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast wasnt bad. The bed was uncomfortable, old matress, and there is no elevator to the upper floors. The hotel is just run down. The pool needs maintenance as there are tiles coming loose. The service at the hotel is great, it's just older hotel and needs some remodel work. It rained for most of my stay, had there been sunny weather it would be easy to overlook the deficiencies of the hotel because the Beautiful Karon beach is next door.

The resort was nice size. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Could have a bit more variety at breakfast in terms of fruit and vegetarian options. Also could have more sun beds or make sure customers put their towel on the sunbeds and then don’t use it for most of the day. Good location but closer to Kata end.

Nice place, nice location, breakfast is good. Bike rental, shops, restaraunt and down the street. 1 minute walk to beach. Away from the party and business For relaxation but just a quick 5-10 minute ride away if you choose to get crazy one night. Workers are nice, they know English for the most part, just need to speak slowly and clearly to them. 800-1000 Thai baht from airport. 1200 Thai baht if you book from resort to airport 5am. Definitely would stay again.

I am a regular visitor to Thailand and it was the first time l was asked to pay additionally for the use of the safe in the room. They do not supply beach towels after 5pm. Air Con was blowing to the ceiling and was not cooling the room. BEAWARE THERE IS NO LIFT, if you have got sore knees, you will regret getting the 4th Level Room

Beautiful room with deck and view of the water. Breakfast buffet was good but couldn’t eat any of the lovely fruit of ham because of so many bugs - need to find a different way to offer these things. Staff was not very friendly and your desk prices were higher than ehag I found out in the streets. WiFi was spotty at best.

I booked a sea view room and it wasn't available the day I checked in. Only a two night stay and had to move the following day. Breakfast was a standard average breakfast. Hotel itself was clean...the pool beautiful. At night there was a singer...she was the sunshine of the staff! Nice and quiet hotel!

I have visited Phuket a few times now. My wife and I didn't spend too much time at the resort, but the pool area and the breakfast were quite good. We had a couple issues and the staff had a bit of a bad attitude when we asked them for assistance. They ended up sending fruit to our room to try and make up for it though. Lol Overall, The Karona Resort and Spa is comparable to most other resorts in the area. We were happy with our stay, but I have stayed at some cheaper places in the area which are just as nice.

Hotel location was good but staff were for the most part bored and unfriendly. Reception staff were rude. This is a hotel for younger guests as five floors without elevators is not for the unfit. Additional charge for the in room safe was an unpleasant surprise. Lighting in the room was very poor so you needed a flashlight to read. Unable to move the umbrellas at the pool makes the chairs unusable for most of the day. On the plus side rooms are large and clean, and location is close to Karon Beach and about 20 min. From Kata Beach.

Great Hotel by Day, Quiet at Night

We had previously spent a week at Patong Beach and that area was far too hectic and noisy for our liking. We were looking for smaller scale, white sand beach, lovely pool area and we found it all at this hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The beach is a two minute or less walk, many nice restaurants very close by. The view from the balcony was so beautiful to wake up to every morning. A great local market on Tuesday and Friday just a Tuk-Tuk ride away. Our stay at this hotel was just what we needed to relax and enjoy our holiday. Everything was as described and clean. Did I say how lovely the pool area is?? Night life close by. No lift (elevator), you get your exercise, so you can enjoy the great Thai food.

Nice hotel with short walk to the beach

This is a nice hotel in Karon, with the advantage of being within walking distance to both Karon and Kata Beach. The staff are very friendly, although you might need a bit of patience with their English if you have any complicated matters that need solving.

We stayed in hotel room 502 which had a nice ocean view. Do note, though, that the balconies are incredibly small - we never really used ours as it barely fit two chairs and there was little privacy. As noted by previous guests, it's a bit of a hike to some of the higher floor rooms (which we didn't mind at all) and no elevator. The beach was a lot closer than what we had thought (literally just down the road). Wifi worked, but cut in and out quite often - so wouldn't count on it for other than mobile use.

If you are on a budget and looking for somewhere decent to stay this is a good choice. There were a lot of Scandinavians and Russians staying at the hotel during our stay, which seems to be the norm.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay - but if we were to return we'd probably look at something a bit more comfortable/higher standard for the price.

Long story short, the hotel staff took care of my injuries from a motorcycle accident earlier that day. They helped clean me up and get me bandaged. One staff member told me to go to a clinic, but another friendly staff person actually assisted me.

Beautiful hotel great location, service a let down

This is a beautiful hotel, lovely location in a quiet part of Karon Beach. The rooms were roomy and well decorated, the pool, restaurant and bar area spacious and well kept. It is a shame that during my stay the hotel was let down by the service. I was given a room that did not lock from the inside; you could only lock the room using the safety chain, which was loose on the door frame and when the chain was secured and the door open there was a gap of a few inches between the door frame and the door, that a person could put their hand through. Obviously I was worried being a female on her own - I asked for a room with a lockable door and after a struggle I was given a room that also did not lock from the inside but had a more secure chain; better but not ideal. On my final night I asked reception to book me a taxi to the airport and they actually refused, saying there was no need to book a taxi as there would be taxis on duty from 5am. I asked if I could have a taxi anyway to be safe and they refused to book me one. Next morning I went outside at 6am and of course no taxis. The staff then told me that if I hadn't booked a taxi how could I expect there to be one, and that guests should book taxis themselves. I am sorry to say that this is very poor service from a hotel, especially given that I am a woman by myself. It is a shame as the hotel is beautiful but during my stay it was sadly let down by the staff. I will not be recommending this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay in Karona hotel. The room was spacious and really nice. However, we found the staff rude and not very willing to help us. The neighborhood is nice with many restaurants. The WiFi was one of the worst services we have seen provided in hotels. It was really slow and we had to go outside to cafes to be online. The breakfast was exceptional.

Very relaxing stay. The two pools are very nice and the overall feeling at the resort is layed back and chill. I didnt like that the pools were closed at 7PM as it seems a little early. Our room wasnt in the newer building so we really didnt have much of a veiw of anything. The room was nice, but I believe this was the hardest bed we encountered during our 10 days in Thailand (they were all hard compared to USA standards). The Breakfast was just OK, nothing to special. We were at Breakfast at 6:30 because we had a fairy to catch, but they were still setting up and it took about 15 minutes to even provide glasses to get a drink. I liked the location as it was only a 2 minute walk to the beach, and maybe 5 minutes to restaurants in town.

Got upgraded at check in from a Pool View Room to a Sea View Room but found the stairs too much hard work, so we were able to be moved back to a Pool View Room. Breakfasts were well presented and had a good choice of dishes for everyone. Lovely swimming pools. Didn't like interconnecting door to another room We were fortunate however that the other room was unoccupied during our stay.

Karona resort and spa is overall a nice place to stay. The dining area is pleasant, by a little pond with the statues you'll see in the pictures here and they have a pool as well. Breakfast is decent-- they do fried/scrambled eggs for you fresh, and have lots of options. Fresh fruit, pancakes and also usually a few thai dishes too. The room is also decent, king size bed, good A/C and a clean enough bathroom. Its very close to the beach and walking distance to many shops etc, though there are some bad restaurants around. Better to turn left and go up the little hill than go right and walk into town. My one beef with this place is that on the day we were leaving, our ride hadn't shown up on time and the staff offered to call and ask about it. As she was on the phone, she got out her calculator, punched in a number and rudely said I had to pay her by the minute to make the phone call. It was pennies to me, but still just sort of a rude gesture. I've never stayed in a hotel where the staff didn't just do that sort of thing for you out of courtesy. I probably wouldn't go back here because of that, but overall its decent value for the money.

In my opinion, this was a 5 star hotel for a 1 star price. Very clean, very quiet, and about 300 feet from the Andaman Sea and beach. I originally booked for 2 nights and wound up staying for 7. I did not want to leave. The rooms were fantastic, exactly like the pictures.

4 Days in Phuket

I initially booked 2 nights at Katona and extended for 2 additional nights. Great location, right off the main road and tucked away at the bottom of a hill. The hotel is modern, updated, and clean. I was able to walk to all the restaurants and shops . Very well ticked , I paid. $33 per night while I was there and got a massage too.

Gorgeous, affordable hotel across from the beach

This hotel went above and beyond any expectations I had. On arrival I was presented with a drink and a cold facecloth, and very friendly staff. My bag was brought to my room which was absolutely gorgeous and spotless. I had a balcony overlooking the pool and a great view of the ocean across the street. I had a massage at the spa on the resort which was very nice, and the continental breakfast was also very good. It's located a bit away from the main city but there are still a lot of attractions nearby, and there are tons of restaurants and markets within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's looking for a relaxing vacation!

Would definitely stay here again if we visited Karon again. Lovely big room with nice shower that was always hot, nice views and a lovely pool area. The hotel staff in the restaurant were lovely and friendly, but it was a little difficult to communicate with the reception staff (not their fault though). The breakfast selection was good and fresh. A nice quiet place to hire mopeds and explore the south for a day, we went to the bug Buddha, wat chalong, the fish market, 2 or 3 beaches and view points and saw lots of elephants along the way. A 2-5 minute walk to shops and restaurants.

Our family of 4 had a great time at Karona Resort. It was affordable and met all our needs. It was clean and very comfortable. We are regulars to Phuket but this was our first time at this hotel. We like the location as it is close to the restaurants - especially Dino's. Karon Beach is much quieter than Patong if you are looking for a relaxing holiday away from the crowds.

Had a great beach view from our hotel room. We were lucky to get an end unit, with a front and side balcony. Hotel staff was friendly and informative. I was surprised to discover that this hotel caters to Russian tourist groups as our party was American. Not the friendliest travel situation as we were hoping to have more of a Thai experience.
Breakfast was incredible and generous... Pool was amazing. Hotel grounds were spotless.

All in all, an enjoyable stay.

CLOSE TO BEACH AND SHOPS

The overall feel of this Resort was TROPICAL with a EARTHLY CHARM. Our stay was very pleasant. The room was clean and serviced daily. The room safe had a key - not code locked - which was annoying. The pool had blue tiles and mosaic flowers on the bottom and arty statues surrounding the edges giving it a very tropical feel. Day beds with umbrellas lined the tiered hill leading into the pool. Also you had to sign towels out and return by 6pm which was also annoying. Breakfast had all you could eat ranging from European to Thai foods. The location is only about five minute walk to Karon Beach and ten minuets to Kata Beach with lots of quaint shops and restaurants between both beaches. We ate at TWO CHEFS - food was fantastic! @ THE BEACH RESTAURANT - right opposite the little street out from the Resort - right on the beach with lapping waves and fairy lights to enjoy your lovely meal. Although the Resort is on a hill with lots of steps - No lifts to top floor rooms. (Keeps you Fit) I would recommend KARONA BEACH & SPA RESORT.

Room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Shower was nice, but had spotty hot water. We had problems with our AC not working very well. Those were our only problems. We would recommend people coming to this place, but would probably choose a different beach to stay on if we went back to Phuket.

I was quite skeptical about Karona prior to the trip because I didn't know what to expect despite the resort having quite a number of good reviews. But the moment I arrived, I must say that I was quite pleasantly surprised. The view from the lobby that faced the guestrooms was beautiful and more importantly, the placed looked well-kept.

I was given a room at the highest level with the beach view and it was pretty big. The room was also very clean and there were zero problems during the 3 nights I stayed there. The hospitality of the staff was amazing (especially the lady at the massage parlour) although I do think the experience could be made even better if they improved in their basic English. Slowing down and using simple sentences did the trick most of the time, but still gotta be patient since English isn't their first language :)

Two things to note:
1. You gotta make payments at the Front Office to use the safety deposit box in your room.
2. Wi-fi is available and free. Just gotta get the username and password from the front office.

I would highly recommend Karona Resort and Spa especially if you are on a budget. I had a wonderful holiday there with minimal issues plus had a clean and spacious room. Food and shopping are also available right outside the resort, so my partner and I weren't bored at night. The beach is just opposite when you come out of Karona too :)

Better than I expected

Had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at this hotel. The room was a good size (think I had a 'superior') although the ocean view was debatable the view was still a good one nevertheless. All amenities (shower, air con, etc) worked perfectly fine and good selection of beers in the mini bar.

Nice pool to relax by but also very close to the beach so just a two minute wander over the road if that's your preference.

The breakfast was fine. Lots of variety and changed on a daily basis. Nothing to write home about but more than adequate.

Ok but noisy at night

We stayed for two nights. We book the sea view room. Honestly i dont think you can see the sea from most of the rooms because there are trees in the way. Its quite noisy at night until around 12am because of the band / bass from the local bar. Pool was clean and nice to cool off in. Breakfast was average. For the price it was ok.

Good and affordable

The hotel is tucked away, just a few steps from the main beach road in Karon, where Kata begins. It is reasonable quite, but it is a big hotel and there are quite some stairs to climb if you are on the top floor, for sea-view rooms. The rooms are nice but the beds are little too hard. The breakfast was ok, and they tried to have some variation every day. We were there off season, so there weren't that many people during our stay. It is a hotel recommended and used by some charter groups, so expect it to be busy during the peak season.

Beautiful,peaceful place for families

Wonderful,small hotel directly across from a beautiful section of the beach. Within walking distance of fabulous food and shopping. The staff was very gracious and the room was very nice, we loved the walk in shower. Our beds were a little hard,but the ocean view window seat made up for it. This is a perfect hotel for families, very quiet. We did not want to be in the party zone of Patong. The pool was beautiful, we loved the sound of the waterfall. My 13 year old son really enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day. After spending time al over Phuket, we felt very lucky for our small,quiet little oasis.

Oasis near a beautiful beach - 9.5 out of 10

*Pool Area: More than expected even from pictures. Gorgeous.

*Breakfast: Superb. A huge display & array of food. Several dishes changed daily so you always had variety. Crispy bacon, fried & boiled eggs, omelettes made to order, fresh bread loaves, lots of hot dishes, yogurt, fruits, & salad.

*Staff: English not their strong suit. Definitely not as knowledgeable about the area as a visitor would hope when asking for advice & seeking recommendations. Housekeeping staff were on their toes; the room was perfectly made up & items restocked every day.

*Room: As expected from other guest’s photos. Totally acceptable for the price. If they wanted to modernise it a bit, all they would need is some neutral paint.

*Bed: Several reviews described the firm beds (which I love). Unfortunately, it was too hard even for me; we had to ask for thin foam cover & softer pillows. I would highly recommend asking for the pillow top immediately.

*Shower: Always hot & flowing with strong pressure. The age of the shower shows in the grout build-up, but no worse than most people would find in their own aged showers at home.

*Location: If you're headed to Karon, this is the hotel to book. LITERALLY 50m to the most beautiful, calm, clean, beach I’ve ever seen. The town is nothing to write home about, but the beach makes it worth it.

*Free Wi-fi Internet: Fast & reliable whilst in the lobby or by the pool, but it didn’t work in the room.

Great Choice

I was so relieved when we checked into the Karona Resort because I had never been to Phuket and didn't know anything about the area when I made the choice online. It had everything we wanted though. The resort, although mid-priced was extremely nice. It was across the street from one beach and just a short walk to the other. There were plenty of places to walk to for shopping and eating so it was close to everything we could want yet off of a side street so it was very quiet and secluded. Also the staff was excellent and they had a wonderful breakfast buffet included.

Really mixed experience

First, the good things...the staff was very helpful. When we arrived, we found out that one of us left our passport on the plane at Phuket airport (45 min away). The hotel manager took charge and called up the airline until he finally got a hold of someone who had found it. He handled this situation very well for us. Other pluses were the nice breakfast, the pool, the grounds and location to beach. However, I wouldn't stay here again. So, the negatives....free WIFI was available however it did not reach our room (109). This was not just our problem, as many people had to hang out in the lobby just to access WiFi. Obviously, we don't go on vacation just to be on the internet, but it's nice to decompress at the end of the day. When we were using WiFi, it continuously kicked us off. The login procedure is annoying throughout Thailand, so this made it even worse. We were always better off to go to a restaurant to access WiFi. It always worked better. The biggest issue for me was street noise. We stayed on a Mon-Wed. Each night from 10pm-1am (once til 2am) we could hear live music pounding through the resort from a bar on the street around the corner. So sleep didn't start until 1 or 2am. The pounding of the drum and bass and the notes of the guitar was so annoying. Finally, Karon beach was nice, quiet, sandy but we could not swim much because there were jellyfish everywhere. So no sleep, no wifi, not a great beach would all lead me to look somewhere else next time.

Nice beach town

The area was really nice and had some good restaurants. It was only about a five minutes walk to the beach. The only bad thing about our stay was the t.v was really choppy but that wasn't a big concern since we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. But everything else was good!

excellent location, just cross the road and you are in Karon Beach,15 mins walk to Kata beach,but Karon is nicer than Kata. hotel is very beautiful, a lot of staris but its good excecise. our children (1yr old and 7 yr old) love the swimming pool(the baby one is lovely). i would be glad to go back again.

Nice, cosy, middle size hotel. Beautiful garden, good breakfast, excellent location near the beach, shops and restaurants. Adjustable aircondition is effective, thermostate works and free of charge wireless internet works also very well in rooms and at pool area. Spa has nice massage and different treatments and GOOD finnish SAUNA! Rooms are clean, maybe little worn out, but ok. Pillows are terrible big and high so if you get easily problems with neck and shoulders, take a small travel prillow with you! Bed is little hard, as usually in Thailand, but you can sleep in it quite good...I have seen and felt a lot worse and harder in Thailand. I think in this hotel you can get excellent value for money!

Nice pool, close to beach

The two-level pool was really nice and room was large and comfortable. The hotel is just a very quick walk to the southern portion of Karon Beach with a nice variety of restaurant close by. Seaview rooms are located on upper floors of hotel, which require a pretty significant climb to reach and there is no elevator- the view is worth the extra $$ and burnt calories though! Overall great value for the rate that we received through Hotels.com

The hotel is situated just next to karon beach though theres no sea view its just a 3 min walk across the road. Very friendly staff and great swimming pool and spa services. Food at breakfast is good too and they provide dinner at their own restaurant when you are too lazy to go out for dinner. The setting of the resorts are really well though-out with entrances into the rooms via the balcony for all rooms. We stayed at the simplest deluxe room but it was better than imgained for the price we paid. However, internet connection may not be the best and the staff at the reception are not the most knowlegeable about the attractions around the area so you still haveto depend on yourself quite alot. Overall its still recommended both if you are travelling with your family or if its for your honeymoon.

Nice place for couples

Well the hotel is near the beach, nice swimming pool, full of trees and nice garden full of flowers, the employees speak a reasonable english and are very kind. We pay for a normal room but they upgrade us to sea view, but the room is nothing special. is big but normal. Wifi is expensive and didn't work in the room. The breakfast is 350 bahts. In general was good. May be the worst thing is that they don't have elevator but a nice bellboy carry your luggage up. I recommend this hotel for couples out of seasson is very cheap and quiet!!

Superb!

The location is perfect...just up the hill, about 5 minute walk from the beach (not to mention the feel safe away from the water in case something bad happens). It is right in between Kata and Karon, which makes it so easy to shop, eat, and pick one of the 2 beaches to spend the day on. The breakfast was good; the service was excellent; they have a fire show and a Thai Boxing show once a week plus a buffet - it's definitely worth the money. The only somewhat bad thing about the resort was the internet...I thought there would be a in-room connection, but you actually have to go to the restaurant or the bar to use it; also, it's wireless, so if there is bad weather then the connection will be week. I'd say that if you don't care for the comfort of checking your email on your laptop while you're having breakfast, then go across the street for other internet needs - it's much cheaper. (yes, you have to pay 750 baht for 10 hours, or other plans) Overall, this was an amazing place and I definitely recommend it.

冷房が20度以下に設定すると壊れると表記があったので20度に設定。
全然涼しくなりません。
暑い外から戻ってきた時や寝る時はキツかったです。
暑がりやさんはキビシイかも。
シャワーの水圧も弱く時間かかります。
シャワージェルとシャンプーは有りました。
灰皿は無いですがバルコニーでたばこ吸えます。
海が見えるのが良かったです。
朝のバイキングも普通。
5Fだったので、エレベーターで4Fに行ってから長い廊下を歩き階段を登っていく感じ。ちょっとコンビニ行きたい時や出かける時なんかは面倒くさいかも。
セブンイレブンは500m歩きます。
一番近いのはセブンイレブンでは無いですが少し歩けば有ります。

日本語が出来るスタッフがひとりも居なかったので英語は勉強しておきましょう。

Mukava hotelli Karonilla

Mukava hotelli erittäin hyvällä sijainnilla. Aamupala maittava ja palvelu hyvä. Hotelli on rinteessä ja siinä ei ole hissiä. Sänky oli tosi kova muuten huone tilava ja siisti.
