Amazing Stefano Family run hotel/spa/restaurant. Upgraded to larger bed. Nice spa facility. Food at restaurant and service were great. Peaceful and serene. Only negative is the sketchy narrow road to the hotel, but some nice overlooks and views.

Nice hotel in quiet town

We were on a month-long road trip in Italy and wanted to avoid big cities and tourists traps. We randomly picked Albergo Moderno for a stay after visiting Milan. The town is small so it was very relaxing and great that excellent food was available at Moderno. We even returned at the end of our trip before returning home via Milan.

A cozy retreat nested up in the Alps.

A cozy, family-run small hotel in a tiny village up in the Alps. The extra twenty minutes required for climbing up the hill are more than rewarded by the warm hospitality and atmosphere of that location. The restaurant serves home-made local and Italian dishes, with a great variety of wines to accompany it.

Hotel Moderno

I must say that my stay at the Moderno was made by my host. The food was really good cooked well. Stefan made me feel really welcome. The hotel was spotlessly clean to boot. Once you get over the location and the mountain roads. I prayed going up and coming down lol. I used it as a base to go travelling daily and it's very quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend

Best host ever! We arrived very late at night and found Stefano still up and totally tuned in to what we needed. He prepared a nice plate of meats and cheese and even veg crepe. And a bottle of red wine of course. Albergho Moderno is a great place to stay

Great experience

We had a fantastic time. Albergo Moderno is quite off the beaten path, somehow we had misestimated where it was in relation to our target (it was listed as a Lake Como area property ....), but all the same a lovely experience. This is a traditional European style pensione where the proprietor prepares the meals, manages the bookings, etc. Located at the summit in Valle Imagna, the view (and drive) was breathtaking, the air lovely and the experience fantastic.

It was snowing and raining so I decided to find a cheap hotel instead of spending another night in the tent.( I have been travelling Europe by Motorbike) I was lookng for the cheapest option, but although I didn't pay so much, I really think I struck gold. A little out of the way, but charming, and friendly. The food at the restaurant was delicious, and I really enjoyed taking time out to watch the snow come down, Room was small but spotless with a comfy bed. Would like to come back in the summer next time to enjoy walking in the surrounding hills.

Place to enjoy nature and excellent food

We loved the place, excellent service by Canella Family. Nice area for hiking Resegone. After a hiking day you can relax and enjoy excellent food in hotel restaurant. We stayed there first 3 nights and extended to 4 to explore whole menu. Very good breakfast. If you want to explore surroundig areas by car, it takes time to climb up to Fuipiano. So I suggest to relax and enjoy the nature.

Fantastic restaurant

Food in the restaurant was top class, local produce, big portions, reasonable price and very tasty. The manager Stefano was extremely helpful and friendly. Although the room was clean and comfortable, some small improvements could be made, soundproofing should be done as we could hear every noise in adjoining rooms and corridor. Towels provided were a bit rough and aged, there should be four pillows in the double rooms as two flat pillows werent enough. These small complaints didnt take away from it being a nice hotel. Highly recommended for the food and the warm welcome.

Really nice 3 star hotell with very good service,but you need to rent a car as it` s a 45 min drive from Bergamo airport. This is a family run hotell and it`s perfect for quiet getaways,it`s up in the hills so don t expect wild nightlife,but you can always rent a car to Bergamo.Lovely staff who will go out of their way to make you confortable. If they dont present you with what you prefer to eat at breakfast,just ask and you`ll get it.Perfect for couples on a honeymoon.

A Gem Lost in the Mountains of Lombardy

I sought a hotel with 10 miles of Lecco. It was - as the crow flies! But it was about 50 miles by road. And what a road, the last 20 miles from Bergamo being narrow, winding and twisting impossibly, and always up, up and higher up. But the instructions were good - just keep following the signs to Fuipiano Valle Imagna - and ultimately there we were. During the crazy climb we thought that we had made a big mistake in choosing this place, but once we arrived we considered it one of the highlights of our vacation. We booked our stay at the hotel based on the reviews we read on trip advisor and we weren't disapointed. Directions were good, so found hotel quite easily. Really is at the top of a mountain, as described and takes about 1/2 to get to the top. Fabulous views, Stefano was very welcoming, Food was good.

Albergo Moderno, a lovely place

We had booked this hotel, thinking it was not far from Lake Como. Actually, it is not, but way up a mountain, resulting in a drive of about 90 minutes. However, everything else about this place made up for it. The drive up there takes you through gorgeous scenery on tiny mountain roads. When you arrive, you are in a charming little village with a row of historic stone cottages. It is family run and very friendly. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner one night. It was the best meal we had in Italy at a very reasonable price. The stay here was one of the highlights of our trip to northern Italy.

Beautiful food

I would say you would definately need a car - as long as you are a confident driving! we found that driving around was one of the best parts! Gorgeous scenery and beautiful food at the hotel! Although the hotel is set up in the mountains we struggled to find routes to walk on so i would suggest you research this before you leave as we didnt and didnt really know what was private land and what wasn't! Altogether though if you want a holiday with gorgeous scenery and good food then this is the place for you!!!

This place won me over in the end!

I had my doubts when I first arrived... it took forever to get there by car, and the hotel didn't strike me as modern or comfortable. The room seemed a bit small, and the TV was tiny. But when we got settled in and we realised how hospitable the owner and his family were, we ended up loving the place. The owners seemed to do whatever was required to keep customers happy - they certainly work hard. They prepared food for us very late in the evening when we arrived, and it was very tasty. They also prepared a 'picnic' breakfast for us because we had to leave before normal serving times on our last day. All in all, we were very happy with the place and we were sad to go.

Outstanding Experience

The accomodations at this hotel are very clean and comfortable. The food is excellent. Everything is made from scratch, and plentiful! The owners are very warm and wonderful people. Didn't want to leave!! The location was a wonderful surprise. It is way up on the mountain and the views on the way up are spectacular.

Great hotel and excellent value

This hotel is a little gem, we couldn't believe the standard for the price we paid. The service from the owner Stefano and staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. The room though fairly small was very clean. The food is terrific and the house wine is highly recommended too. We'll be going back.

Pleasant stay

I was on a bussiness trip and although the hotel is a bit out of town the scenery makes up for that. The staff were very friendly. Even arriving at 23:30 one night they still served me dinner. They went out of their way to make it comfortable for me. Will definately stay there again on my next trip. Would really recommend staying here.

Exceeds expectations

This is a country inn with an unassuming style which offers good quality accommodation and food. Fuipiano is a quiet village at the head of Valle Imagna, reached by fairly narrow and winding roads - 30km and about 50 minutes from Bergamo. There are excellent views. The proprietors/staff are friendly and welcoming - how nice for once to find truly hospitable people in the hospitality business! The hotel and restaurant offer very good value for money.

The hotel was very cosy, we had some antipasti for dinner since we weren’t to hungry and it was delicious! But a lot of things on the menu was tempting. The service was spectacular and we could really feel that the family who runs it does it with passion. The breakfast had amazing flavors and with great selections. The rooms very clean och cosy. Would love to come back one day and try out the spa as well! The drive there was up and up on a serpentine road on the mountain but so worth it! Nice views on the way.

Slitt og gammelt hotell med dårlig lydisolering.

Med mindre du reiser med hund, er det bare å styre unna dette hotellet. Hotellet er gammelt og slitt, og rommene samsvarer ikke med bildene. Fylt opp av eldre italienere som er på tur med hundene sine. Ingenting å hverken se eller gjøre i nærheten. Var ikke klar over at dette er et hotell som tillater gjestene å ta med hunden inn. Sov ingenting, da rommet var veldig lytt og hunden i naborommet bjeffet hele natten. Skulle egentlig bo her i 5 netter, men sjekket ut etter 1 natt.

Skøn mad og god stemning.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir bekamen ein kostenloses Upgrade auf Einzelzimmer und die Motorräder konnten wir in einer Garage abstellen. Das Essen und der Wein waren ganz hervorragend, ebenso das Frühstück mit frischgebratenen Eiern.
Matratze und Kopfkissen waren für mich deutlich zu hart.

Sono arrivato tarda serata , ho trovato un biglietto con le indicazioni e la chiave della camera(quando diceva reception 24ore su 24) . Il problema vero sono state le indicazioni stradali perché diceva 10 km dal posto in cui dovevo recarmi questa mattina ma in realtà erano 70 km.

\"Ci può stare\"

Parto dal presupposto che ho prenotato alle 20 e 30 una camera la sera stessa del check in, ci siamo presentati alle 23 e 40 e che sfortuna ha voluto che la mattina seguente l'Enel staccasse la corrente per motivi di manutenzione.

Proprio per l'orario della prenotazione (per sua stessa ammissione \"avevo già chiuso\") siamo stati accolti con un foglio il quale mi indicava la stanza, il percorso verso la camera e l'avviso riguardante l'Enel e le chiavi appoggiate sopra esso (non mi aspettavo nessun tipo di accoglienza, paese a mio parere sperduto ed è normale che a mezzanotte sia tutto chiuso).
La stanza era pronta e accogliente dotata di tutti i comfort elencati.
Il personale la mattina seguente è stato molto gentile e premuroso, nonostante la situazione di difficoltà dovuta da fattori esterni per 4 euro a persona ci ha preparato una colazione più che discreta (caffè, yogurt, fette biscottate, pane caldo, torta fatta in casa, brioches e caminetto acceso, ripeto il tutto senza corrente eletteica).

Mi sento di consigliare questo hotel e questo posto perché sicuramente ne vale la pena se si cerca la tranquillità. Noi l'abbiamo trovata!

Hotel avec belle vue,parle francais, et bon prix

Le réceptionniste parle un peut Français, hyper belle vue du paysage sur la terrasse, chambre propre, le seul petit bémol c'est la route pour aller a l'hôtel qui est sinueuse et qui a presque 1h30 de milan et Monza. Je recommande sans hésiter et si je retourne un jour en Italie je reprendrait cet hôtel.

Geweldig gegeten.

Het hotel is goed maar het eten nog veel beter. Vertel de ober wat je niet lust en vraag hem je te verrassen. Je zal zeker niet terechtgesteld zijn. daarbij zijn de prijzen meer dan schappelijk. Ook een leuke rit de berg op met alle vergezichten en haarspeldbochten.

Siamo arrivati in tarda serata, abbiamo sistemato le valige, poi siamo rimasti a cena li, in quanto non ci sono molte possibilità per muoversi visto che il primo paesino dista circa 6/7 km...
Comunque la scelta di mangiare nel ristorante dell'albergo e stata positiva.

Мы двумя машинами ехали в этот отель уже вечером, дорога шла по крутому серпантину очень сложная. Даже ночью было видно какое красивое место!Отель отличный, в очень живописном месте.
