The location was ideal for being fairly close to the train station. The room had ample space and was clean. Part of the door frame around the bathroom was missing so some work needed to be done. I appreciated the included free breakfast in the morning and the courtyard patio to sit in.

The hotel rooms are serviceable. My favorite thing about them was how quiet they were - and the air conditioning worked great. It is very convenient to everything. My only downside is that is appears that showering in the evening means a lukewarm (at best) shower. The breakfasts were typical and the rooms were on the small side but still fine.

This hotel is down right disgusting. We showed up excited because the pictures looked cute and it a good walking distance. The female front desk worker is rude, the sheets have blood stains on them after switching rooms and the worst part, is we found bed bugs. They refuse to refund us and are making us stay in their infested hotel. Do not come here. Pay the extra money and stay anywhere else.

The family run hotel was beautiful and the staff/family is very welcoming and accommodating. All touristic places were in walking distance, restaurants near where very good. We had forgotten our wedding ring and they returned it to us and helped in finding it. All in all will go back again !

Hotel was nice and clean and the staff was helpful. It is close enough to walk to the tourist areas but far enough away that it is really not that close. Close enough to train station for a quick walk or ride (with luggage). We did both and it took about 10-15 min either way. Close to Accademia Gallery. Park area in front was fine during the day but some homeless sleeping there at night. Room was spacious for 4 people and the view overlooked the park. Everything close enough that can be walked.

Wonderful customer service, friendly staff, helpful providing information. It's about 15 minute walk from main train station, keep in mind busy, narrrow sidewalks, can be a challenge if you have a lot of luggage. You can take public transportation across train station to take you close to the hotel, there is a bus station across the hotel. Breakfast was continental, sufficient to get you started for the day.

Excellent location , small difficulty in navigating to the hotel due to road works but Waze app was the solution. Due to covid breakfast has to be served by staff. Staff are all polite and helpful. Access to onsite parking is via very narrow driveway. There is a cheaper option for an on street parking with a hotel permit.

We loved this place!! :) Paul (front desk) was so nice and very helpful with the check-in. Location is great and within walking distance to the Dome, close to shopping and dining. It was a very nice hotel, excellent service and a great complimentary breakfast buffet. Easy access to public transportation that would take you anywhere in Florence.

It isn’t as close to the station as advertised. The room is too small for two persons. There are very few plug points for charging devices. Wifi is not free and the signal is very poor. I loved the property, everyone was so helpful. Place is just what you'd expect from a little Italian Inn, nothing fancy but very sweet. Paulo at the front desk was especially helpful to us.

If I ever return to Florence I will request the same room at this place, right next to the court yard with fruit trees, very nice

The hotel was okay. It was in a great location and the staff was friendly enough and 24hr front desk. We stayed here because of the location and the price. The breakfast was not very good, which is fine. To be honest, I would give a higher review if it wasn’t for the WiFi. It was NOT included and they seemed to charge you per day. Making guests pay for the WiFi just seemed petty and they charged PER device which was €5 a day. So annoying.

Worst service ever

Me and my family was meant to stay at this hotel for 3 nights, unfortunately the card details were wrong but the hotel never contact me to let me know there was an error with the card so instead they cancelled the reservation without letting me know and for our surprise when we got to the hotel the staff told us he has no room for us. Also she was really really rude and raised her voice to us. Worst service ever!

Paolo the front desk was amazing. Nice, friendly and informational. The room temperature was warm had to complain 3 to 4 times to get them to cool the room still wasn’t down well all the way. Room refrigerator didn’t work. Complained about it got someone to look at it twice but didn’t cool water at all. They said that’s how it worked. Water in shower didn’t drain well but they said that’s how it was suppose to be. Breakfast was too crowded need some sort of way to organize it better.

- Air conditioning in the room was controlled centrally so you cannot change the temperature. You can only turn it on or off.
- Air conditioner filters are not clean. You can feel it from the smell and we got seriously sick after staying there.
- There is a problem with the sewer system and there was constant sewage-like smell in the hotel.
- Room was smaller than advertised.
- No free wi-fi.

Though the decor was kind of cute, borderline tacky they literally charge you for everything which was what ruined our experience.

Bed Bugs, Bed Bugs, Bed Bugs and more Bed Bugs. After 3 weeks in Italy, different hotel every night, bed bugs only here for 4 nights! I finally went to a store, bought a spray can of bug killer, tore apart the beds and sprayed everywhere. The room could be much cleaner than it was. Mosquitoes too. This was the only place where they were a problem.
Also, out of about 6 different desk staff, one was extremely grumpy and should seek different employment. Other staff were very helpful.

We arrived in Florence on Aug. 2017. The first impression is that the hotel has good decorations, with a historical feel. The hotel staff is friendly and made you feel at home.

The electric plug in Florence doesn't compatible with other places in Europe. But luckily, the hotel staff gave me an adapter.

The stay was okay. Reception staff not very happy. There was no cell signal in my room and of course because the wifi was not free I had to pay for it to have any use of my cell phone in my room. I explained this to the reception and she was not sympathetic in the least. The bed, bedding, linens, etc very outdated. Good location, 10 minute walk to train station and 10 to Duomo and other sights.

This is a very busy hotel that is managed by it seems unemotional people. Nobody says hello, good morning or how are you:( There is no personal touch or true hospitality which by the way does not cost any more. However, I guess you either have this in your heart or you don't. These guys don't and it is very evident from the owners right the way through the staff. It is managed more out of fear than love:(

This hotel has a very convenient location, close to the Terminie station; however it's screaming for a serious remodelation, front desk people were nice, and gave us a lot of suggestions, specially the owner's wife who told us about the 78 hours Firenze pass, it was one of the best things. the pillows need to be replace, they are a 100 years old, for real ugh!! the room was freezing and we asked the front desk people twice to raise the temperature. Breakfast is subpar.

April 2017 Review VERY POOR HOTEL

We usually never write reviews however felt this hotel was fully deserving on some feedback. Our family booked two rooms based on the information available, on first arrival the hotel looks nice in a good location. Unfortunately as soon as we arrived and the unhelpful staff demanded cash payment of the city tax before we even viewed the rooms was a sign of things to come.

Our rooms upon arrival (the hotel is very badly set out and you need a map to find some rooms) were very basic and the cleanliness was very poor. There was masses of dirt under the beds and bathroom around the edges was dirty.

The beds are basic camp beds really and quality of bedding is basic. The hotel also caters for student groups so if you are travelling with a young family or seek sleep this is not good as groups of students roam around late at night with no supervision making lots of noise.

For the size of the breakfast room is small, the breakfast selections are very basic with a distinct lack of staff, to be fair the men on duty during our stay were friendly and nice, which cannot be said for the chap at reception who grabbed the key card from my hand at checkout.

He was very rude and unprofessional, I would expect this is a common pattern for this hotel. We have booked many hotels across the world and this hotel is by far the worst.

It could be so much better with some effort. Expedia customers get the rear building rooms which are very poor so beware, I doubt Expedia staff have been.

My husband, 2 teenage children and myself stayed 1 night of our two week Italian holiday in Florence We had a quadruple room very spacious & wifi for teens. It was spotless Situated in the square ideally located for tourists.
The staff were very helpful, they took our car to the carpark & brought it back when we were leaving (daily charge applied ) as the hotel did not have own. The buffet breakfast was delicious.
We were a short distance walk from the cathedrals, restaurants and shopping area.

Not too far from train station. We walked with our heavy backpacks and it was okay. We walked to the Duomo and other points of interest. We were out all day, so practically we were at the hotel just to sleep. If you want wi-fi they said you have to pay a fee per day per device. There is a computer you can use in the lobby for free but it was very slow.

Staff are not friendly, except the guy working during breakfast hours (Paolo).
They are well-mannered but a bit abrupt, reception staff mainly.
Wi-fi is not free and they charge you for it. The most bizarre thing is that you can't connect two devices using the same login details. We are in 2015!
The room was clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood is great. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Central Market, Central Station and city centre.
Lots of nice restaurants as well, including wine bars.
I would not stay there again because of the wi-fi and because of the staff.

Convenient location close to the Train Station

we arrived a day early and are grateful that they had a room. The hotel was at a convenient location we walked 10 minutes to get to the train station and 5 minutes to the central market and Duomo. Hotel is clean for the most part but needs updating. The only thing that bothered us during our stay was there were 2 teams of teenage football players who were very loud and it felt like they were playing football every night we thought the ceiling was going to fall down or the really nice chandelier. I complained to the night staff once but it was clear that the coaches did not have a handle on their players or did not care. I recommend next time they have a group like that they be placed away from the other guests and some very strict rules be set.

As far as cleanliness- it was ok we have service every day- would suggest a little more communication in the room as to options given if we want new sheets then place a sign on the pillow. we did not know what to do so we would place our towels on the floor in order to replace them- but we noticed that even though our beds were made the sheets were not always replaced . We stayed 6 days it was fine , shower is small so if you're a big person you are not going to fit.

The beautifully decorated hotel's central location made our stay very convenient. It was located within walking distance to the main train and bus station. There were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby which was open till late throughout the week. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean and the décor was absolutely stunning. The continental breakfast buffet was included in the room price and we were able to eat out in the back garden which was a very pleasant experience.

Upon arrival, we were propositioned with an offer to stay in a two bedroom apartment next door to the hotel because there was a large group of children staying at the hotel. The apartment was large and very comfortable. the only thing was that there was no microwave which would have been nice. Breakfast was provided at the main hotel each morning. It was clean and the location wonderful across the street from the park and square.

A friend and myself had a fantastic stay in Florence. Hotel Donatello was exactly what we needed as it within walking distance of everything we wanted to see during our 4 night stay. The staff were very helpful providing us with useful maps and giving us any advice we asked for. The staff even advised us against paying for Hotel wifi and told us exactly where to go to access free wifi.

The room was comfortable and spacious, the bathroom was clean and had a good shower.

The experience was one of the most terrible hotel accommodations I have been in. The one thing that was absolutely horrible was that the room 104 was next to the breakfast room, which starting at 6:45am you have people moving their chairs around as they start their day in the breakfast room. This was extremely annoying as it limits my hours of rest.

The Wifi charges were outrageous 24 hours for 20 euros. Have fun with that!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay in Florence. This hotel was close to all major attractions within the city. They front desk was very informational. They offered a really good breakfast in the courtyard. There were two drawbacks... This hotel charged a lot of internet. We didn't realize that when booking this hotel. Also, they hotel didn't inform us that there is a mosquito problem in Florence. You had to request the repellant rather than it already being included in the hotel. They would have prevented our bites the first night.

Hotel was very nicely placed for transport links and all the main attractions in Florence. The staff were helpful providing a map with walk to be able easily see sights, they advised on other walks and things to do, including where to eat.
We had room 211 which was one of two with a small balcony overlooking the courtyard garden where we ate breakfast.

There is a kind of a food court in a walking distance from the hotel where you can find good food for a reasonable price.

The Donatello is what you might call \"faded glory\" but it fits well with the ambiance of the city. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a reasonable breakfast. I'd say value for money. From the map it looks a bit distant from the attractions but maps are deceptive and 15mins walk gets you to the Duomo plus there are several handy eating places that don't mark up for being central. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Pro's: location couldn't be better, close to all the prime tourist locations but is a nice walk away from the centre so is nice & quiet. Friendly staff. Clean and cosy room. Breakfast is good. Hotel manager very friendly.

Pluses included the breakfast (seating inside or in a very peaceful courtyard), clean room, a/c that worked pretty well, lots of hot water, tile and marble floors, Wifi, very pleasant and helpful staff and literally everything was within walking distance. Minuses were our king-size bed (two singles linked together actually) which was very lumpy and lopsided, and also the room door did not close well (had to be slammed everytime). Easy fixes I would think. Nevertheless, we would stay there again.

Convenient location

A fire hazard. In order to go to the 3rd floor you have to take the elevator in the first building to the second floor and walk through a labirynth of corridors to find the second elevator to go to the 3rd floor. You need a week to find your way around. They want 25 euros to park your car. Difficult to find.

Nice, but plain

After doing a lot of walking in the city, it would have been nice to soak in a bath. Room only had a shower. Very limited television available too... I would look for a better hotel.

good as just a place to sleep.

I saw two double rooms in the hotel, and neither one had a bathtub. Both rooms had very small shower stalls. Wifi has to be purchased, and the signal strength in the rooms is not that good. If they comp your wifi because of problems you had, the signal does not reach much past the front desk. I met several staff members, one was great and extremely helpful, a few others were ok, and then one was just clueless. you are not allowed eat in your room, or to even bring food into your room. you are not allowed to add your own drinks to the mini bar in the fridge to store it while you are there. Tv only had a few stations to chose from. tv's are small tube tv's

Good location, clean and well organised

Good location of the hotel; minutes from the main centre but still in a quiet and peaceful area. Clean and spacious rooms with good maintenance and appropriate facilities. Staff well organised and helpful with directions and arranging taxis. Complimentary breakfast moderate but a good start to the day; excellent hot drinks machine! Bar opposite the lounge a good bonus!

Convenient/Clean/Friendly

This hotel is easily accessible to major tourist sites. You can walk to it from the train station. Staff is helpful and breakfast was very good. Wish they had more channels in English on tv.
