Staff were super friendly, room was clean, beds comfortable. Hotel was a 10 min walk from old town and neighbourhood was clean, safe and quiet. Our room was on the second floor and had a great view of the street and buildings across the way. Would recommend it to friends as it was clean and comfortable, staff was responsive, hotel was in a great location and was affordable.

The only warning I would give is that the building is in need of maintenance. Check to see that things are in good working order before unpacking. Upon arrival it was obvious that our bathroom sink and shower drains were plugged. The sink drain was leaking onto the shelf and towels below, and the shower did not drain at all. However, the staff was responsive and superintendent came up immediately to drain/temporarily repair the sink.

Be aware that the hotel is only open for check-in from 5-10pm. Paid parking is available on the streets around the hotel.

However the staff was very friendly and helpful. They suggested places to visit and we really enjoyed their suggestions. The room was clean. Simple decor. Very confortable. We were walking distance to the historic centre. We had a great stay.

Hotel Montchapet was a great find in visiting Dijon. It's on a quieter street a few minutes from the centre ville and the start of the route de la Chouette.

I arrived before check in and the clerk let me drop my baggage off and then immediately printed off a city map and showed me various places of interest for me to explore on my first trip to the city.

When I got back that evening, the staff checked me in quickly and efficiently. The room itself was comfortable and fairly spacious. The bathroom shower was a little cramped for me, but that's par for the course in French hotels.

Generally a lovely stay in a nice location. Would come back.

Quaint hotel in Dijon. Very friendly staff. Beware of the step when coming in: The lights are very strange and I fell on the floor with all my luggage! Otherwise, all is perfect.

The Front Desk person, I did'nt get his name... he was so friendly, so helpful and accommodating.

The 5pm check in is a bit off putting as there is no one at the property prior to 5pm, and you have to stand outside till someone comes at 5pm to open the door.

Facilities fine - clean, comfortable, quiet. Nothing special, but nothing wrong. Easy walk from station, short distance from centre of town. Staff provided a good map and instructions (in French). At weekends, hotel is closed 2-5pm, so no check-in during that time.

This is a small hotel. The rooms have been renovated so everything is modernised but they are very small. The bathroom was very small as well. We had to squeeze around the washbasin to get to the toilet. We did not have breakfast.

Good Value, Great Location

The outside of the hotel is nothing to get excited about, but inside the hotel was renovated in the last few years and it's quite comfortable and modern. The bathroom was generously sized and the hotel rooms were quiet despite it being 3-5 mins from downtown. Despite there being no parking available there is free street parking overnight, generally after 7pm.

this hotel well placed in Dijon.Reception was o.k.but not all ways manned. Staff were very surly in breakfast room.Breakfast room was a disgrace with water marks all down the walls. Breakfast itself was o.k. The rooms were o.k but needed carpet on the very cold floor. lino. Bathroom floor very cold. Water temp was lacking for the sink and shower very cool. Bedroom needed net curtains as we faced the road.

Easy for walking into Dijon

We were quite disappointed by the outside of the hotel when we first arrived. Parking is on the sides of the street, with a parking meter. Sundays are free! Once inside, the lady on reception was very helpful and understood and spoke English very well. Our room was downstairs on our first visit. Small, but extremely clean. The dining room is a bit tired, and squashed, but breakfast was enjoyable. We only stayed 1 night, but went back 3 days later as part of a road trip and stayed another night. This time the room was on the 2nd floor, but bigger. Still extremely clean!

Perfect stop-over

On arrival, the hotel staff could not have been more friendly, or made us feel more welcome. The room was perfect for our needs, and exactly what we expected - small, clean and modern. The hotel is a mere 5 minutes walk from the main tourist center, a walk that we did in the late evening without any thought for our safety. I would gladly stay there again.

bare necessities but clean

This is a bare bones, but very clean hotel. Low price reflects lack of amenities and older structure of building. Mattresses were kind of hard but bedding was clean, as was the bathroom. Host was so kind. Expect the lobby to be locked from noon to 5 p.m. on a Sunday so you have a late check in. Very close to the fun shopping district so you can leave your car at the hotel and walk. Safe area. No frills, hostel sort of choice for lodging.

Oasis of quiet

About 10 minutes walk from rail station and much the same to the city centre pedestrian precinct, this hotel proved surprisingly good. The room was spotless and comfortable. The facilities are those of a 2 star hotel and this review works within that parameter, but I was delighted with my stay here. There was virtually no noise within the hotel or from the street. Highly satisfactory.

the entrance foyer can be a little off putting because it is quite dark but, for the price it was a very good hotel.

Good low cost hotel mid way between train station and city centre. We dropped our bags off at 11am and told we could check in at 3pm, but no one was there till 5pm ( Sunday) annoying as need to change clothes as it was getting cold.

We were a little apprehensive as we pulled up outside this hotel as the surrounding streets are a little run down. However, our fears were soon allayed when we went inside. The manager was very friendly and helpful and our room was perfect for our overnight stay. Central Dijon and its restaurants and bars were only a short walk away. The room itself was comfortable and very clean.

After a long day of traveling, missed connections there was a discrepancy with our reservation upon arrival. In addition the hotels appearance was not great as it is currently under construction adding additional rooms. This could have been a disaster, but it was not. The manager and hotel staff at Monchapet were warm, friendly and attended to all the details to honor the reservation. We were greeted each morning with our choice of cafe, tea or chocolate and fresh croissants and bread. The hotel is located with in walking distance of lovely Dijon. Restaurants, churches, parks the holiday lights were very accessible by foot. I would recommend Monchapet.

Convenient and good vaue

I am not that picky so for the money this hotel is great. The owner was very helpful at first and unobtrusive thereafter. The 1st floor was under construction and even this wasn't a big deal since we were out usually when they were working. It is convenient to train station and anything interesting to see. We walked to two great restaurants.

Has potential, but NOT the old part

Montchapet is two hotels in one. The new renovated section which looks quite nice and the part I stayed in. It looked and smelled like it hadn't seen any maintenance for decades. Fare enough considering it's probably going to get gutted and refurnished soon. But there is no way I would ever recommend to anyone to stay in this section. The walls seem to amplify noise, carpet smelled and looked like it'd been used to line a kennel, bed sheets had holes in them, the chair had multiple stains on it and I don't believe anyone cleaned the room during the 4 nights I stayed there. The owners seemed like very nice people and I believe the hotel will be well worth visiting when ALL of it is renovated. If you do stay make SURE you request the \"new\" section. If not, consider cancelling your stay.

great location --- gentleman on reception spoke great english and told us about the owl walk which you follow gold plaques with owls on around the city it takes about an house and you get to see all the sights-rooms clean and spacious and breakfast good value altrhough continental plenty to eat-- we used it as stop over on way back from south -- dijon is a fabulous city and will definatley come back again and would use the hotel as good value

The room was compact although comfortable with good size TV (no english channels) The bathroom was great,clean, newly renovated, with hair dryer, modern appliances and good size. The manager or owner (not sure) was very friendly and helpful and gave us city map of Dijon and great tip on where to eat for dinner \"DZ Envies\" Please go, it was a fabulous restaurant, excellent food, service, ambiance and reasonable prices. Only 10 minute walk into city centre. Would recommend.

Arrived by train and the hotel is only a ten minute walk from the station, also the same time to get to the ancient part of the town. The welcome and advice particularly on restaurants was excellent. The reception area is a bit dark and needs some attention, but the rooms have been refurbished and are adequate and clean. Overall a pleasant stay and great value.

The hotel was perfectly adequate for an overnight or a short stay. It was not luxurious but the room was clean and our room which was on the top floor had been newly refurbished, There was no lift. Breakfast was disappointing. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the hotel manager allowed us to park our car in a secure area off the street at no cost. This was a bonus as our car was loaded with personal possessions and we did not want to leave it in the street. Dijon is a spectacular town and the hotel is well positioned about 10 mins walk from the centre. For the price the hotel was good value.

English speaking reception. Close to train station and is an easy walk to city center. Good value for one night stay. Fairly quiet neighborhood and I felt safe walking by myself. There was no a/c in my room and the shower curtain should be replaced but the bathroom was clean and new. I was on the top floor so lugging my suitcases up and down all the stairs was dificult. I would stay there again but ask for a room on a lower floor.

Not a problem with this hotel, close to the train station which was very handy, and also only a few minutes walk into the main part of the town, so you can really just walk everywhere you need to go. The hotel itself was fine, the room was modern and had airconditioning and the bathroom was good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would not recommend purchasing the breakfast - it was not bad (croissant, bread, juice), but there are countless boulangeries/patisseries/cafes only a few moments away that are much more enjoyable! Definitely would recommend this hotel.

The staff were helpful. My room had recently been renovated, and was very pleasant and kept spotlessly clean.

A Home away from Home

First of all, I was extremely pleased with my stay at the Hôtel Montchapet in Dijon. Located in a quiet and safe street, the hotel is conveniently near the Centre Ville (a ten minute walk) and the train station (also a ten minute walk,though you might want to get a cab when you first arrive at the gare and have no idea where you are). I remained there for five comfortable nights in a renovated non-smoking room. The cleanliness of the room was good. I must warn you that the hotel does not have an elevator, but there are only 3 flights of stairs. What really made my stay was the hotel staff: they were very, very welcoming, polite, knowledgeable and gave excellent advice about what to do in the city. They truly went out of their way to help me out during my stay!

The candlewick said it all! A very dared and tired looking hotel room which was in desperate need of updating. The bathroom was equally dated and tired looking with very grubby looking grout and not in the cleanest of conditions.We felt like using the water supply without touching any of the fixtures and fittings. The saving grace was the friendliness of the man on reception combined with clean sheets under the very used looking bedspread. Wouldn't go back.

Lovely quiet hotel undergoing renovation

The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment with half of the rooms (top floor) having been decorated with new furniture and bathrooms - really delightful. We were warmly welcomed by the helpful, english-speaking owner, and given a map of the city with some tips as to where to go and what to see. The breakfast was good. I would recommend this hotel.The only snag was that at the time of our stay the aircon didn't work and the water was turned off for most of the day. The fact that it was 30 degrees made this quite an inconvenience. I was assured this would be fixed in future so I would happily stay here again.

Unbelievably bad

How did this hotel get a two star rating? Normaly I don't comment on a hotel but this one needs to go on report. Where do I begin, maybe its with the wall coverings that were falling off the wall both in the rooms and hallways or the stinch of used toilets that were stacked up outside our so called balcony. I could talk about the fungus growing aroud the shower wall and toilet or the fact that they were supposed to have parking and simply did not. Believe me this hotel was a nightmare with no air, heat or window screens. I have taken photos of this place and would be happy to shre them with hotels.com.

Prijs kwaliteit een goed hotel! Propere en ruime kamer, badkamer eerder kleine kant met wc, douche en 1 wasbak. In de kamer is er geen kast, dus opbergen van kledij minder evident maar we verbleven er één nacht op doorreis dus dit was geen probleem. Bij aankomst s'avonds was het even zoeken naar een parkeerplaats in de omgeving en gevonden. Op aanraden onthaal hebben we onze bagage uit de auto gehaald en in een bergplaats in hotel kunnen zetten. Kamer heeft rolluiken dus goede verduistering. Vriendelijk onthaal en de dame heeft op onze vraag nog enkele croissants extra gebakken. Ontbijt is relatief eenvoudig maar zeker voldoende, en zeker voor de prijs van 11 euro!

Det fanns vad man behöver för en natt och läget var bra gångavstånd till Les Halles område med massor av restauranger.
Perfekt promenad som var utmärkt med små symboler att följa för att gå en promenad och få se alla sevärdheter vilket var en fantastisk upplevelse!
Frukosten var minimal och inte värt pengarna.
Duschen var riktigt dålig hård stråle och ont om varmvatten.

Accueil sympa.le personnel est serviable.
L hotel est tres bien situé.
Le buffet dejeuner est petit mais correct.
Le seul bemol est le pommeau de douche qu il faudrait soit nettoyer à fond soit changer

un agréable séjour

Mon séjour a été plutôt agréable. Hôtel pas loin de la gare et du centre de Dijon pour visiter notamment l'exposition \"Maîtres et merveilles\" au musée des beaux arts ce pourquoi je suis venue à Dijon. L'accueil très sympathique avec de nombreuses explications touristiques. Par contre je pense qu'il faudrait faire un effort sur le petit déjeuner, l' avoine ce n'est pas du muesli. Séjour silencieux pour dormir c'est très bien.

Sehr nett, gute Lage nahe der Innenstadt.
Über Nacht findet man auf der Straße einen kostenfreien Parkplatz.
Unsere verspätete Ankunft war kein Problem - super Service.
