Great home base on Koh Chang

The friendly and very helpful staff at the Dewa made our stay perfect! We rented scooters and explored all over the area, many cool restaurants and funny bars and dispensaries around nearby. And waterfalls to check out too. With the scooters you can get much more of a picture of local life also, you can take side roads. Really fun. We also went diving with BB divers organized through the hotel, a great day with 3 dives! We definitely didn’t want to leave, and we hope we can come back soon! Thank you!!

I’ve been in Thailand for
More than 2 years. This property is hands down the most beautiful I’ve stayed in. Room was far above average, location is the best on Koh Chang, the staff could not have been friendlier and the pool is really the best in all of Thailand. I cannot wait to come back!

Amazing stay.

We just spent 6 fantastic days at Dewa in room 131. It was our second time as we were there for 12 days last year with my children and grandchild. This property even improved from last year. I think the staff are excellent. Thai hospitality at its finest. No problem was too big for them, they just wanted to please you, right down to the cleaners. The chef accommodated me every morning with a stir fry tofu and vegetable bc I’m a vegan . We will be back at the Dewa .

This hotel located in nice area, in 15 minutes of walking you can reach good restaurants and bars. The rooms are spacious, nice interior. The TV is old and small, but who cares;) swimming pool insane. I don’t like variety on breakfast curse, but eggs station and fruits not bad. I was a little bit disappointed that hotel provide used havaianas instead new sleepers.

It was a great getaway, the check in was very easy and quick and the staff was helpful. After check in I went to go have lunch and it’s nothing crazy just your basic hotel menu like chicken club and pad Thai. But the staff waited the whole time while we looked and ordered. Toey was our server and was so sweet but coming from a hospitality background she should’ve took our drink orders first and let us look at the menu and came back to get our final order not very 5 diamond. It was raining so went to the room and had room service and everything was fast and tasted great. Then came the breakfast buffet again nothing crazy just your basic breakfast but what made it better was the server touch! He was so nice and attentive and was on it with everything from refilling my coffee to showing me where the bathroom was. Then went to beach it was a bit disappointing in the sense there was small bits of trash and small plastic bits all over the beach. I wanted to rake the beach for free! But other than that everything else was great. Thank you Dewa Hotel I will come back again.

A lovely hotel. Rooms are large and very comfortable. The pool is excellent and the beach recliners and beach bar are nice. The breakfast is fairly standard and the beach is nice but small. The hotel seems to take sustainability and water use seriously, but allowing a smaller flush on toilets would make a big difference.

Little slice of heaven - oceanfront in Koh Chang

Stay at the Dewa was great - nice facility and a beautiful beach. Enjoyed the hotel spa services as well. Breakfast included and was outstanding. Dinners on the beach a bit less impressive. I was initially “upgraded” to a little round villa room which was a bit tired. Relocated to the deluxe room I had reserved and it was really great. Pool is lovely and service from hotel staff good all around.

Amazing hotel despite guests with annoying habits!

Amazing stay at the Dewa. Can def recommend it. The guests there have a terrible habit of reserving sun beds from early morning by placing their towels and personal belongings before going back to sleep leaving very few to early birds who actually wants to use the sun beds. There’s a sign telling guests not to do so which is ignored but I wish the hotel staff would help remind people. Btw credit to the bartender in the pool. Amazing cocktails!

We had a lovely stay at the Dewa. It is excellent value for money - rooms are HUGE, lovely pool, lovely beach area with beds and great breakfasts. Although busy, it was never ‘too busy’ or you always found beds. Staff are all very friendly too. Perfect spot for sunsets. Lots of restaurants a few minutes walk away (turn right when you get to the main road), or taxi for 50BHT per person - would stay again without a doubt.

Damp, dirty, dingy room. Holiday ruined

I cannot believe how awful this hotel is. The reviews are surely left by people they pay or by bots.

We were due to stay here 4 nights over Songkran but checked out after 1. We were allocated room 216: a damp, dark, dingy, disgusting, smelly room with dirty, tatty bedsheets, not cleaned properly and mould all over the shower curtain. Complained to reception who moved us next door as they were fully booked and the allocated guests hadn't checked in yet. Not much better. We were told we would be upgraded to a villa room for our last 2 nights but after spending a night in a bed that smelled like a wet baby's nappy, we could not wait to get out and go elsewhere. 5000 baht a night for that!! Amek at reception was completely incompetent at dealing with us and the GM wasn't much better. We managed to get our money back for the remaining 3 nights, but only after they made it as difficult and stressful as possible. Needless to say I would not recommend this hotel.

Fantastic hotel. Staff and service was amazing.

Overall a great experience.
2nd stay here and has exceeded expectations both times.
Cleanliness of the rooms is good but there are a couple of areas that could be improved. (Shower area and ceiling).
Pool was a little dirty at times although being on an island this may have come throughout the day from the surrounding trees and plants.
Service was really amazing and made the stay for us both.
Menu was pretty good but was out of a few items we requested and could use a little more selectiion.
Prices were high outside of happy hour.
Was a bit disappointed to hear from the staff that they dont get the service charge from the bills?
Between us this amounted to a couple of thousand baht. (Where does it go)?

29 March 2018 - just arrived back from a wonderful holiday at The Dewa - Koh Chang. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beach is very clean and perfect for children as it shelves gently. I liked the design of the hotel even though it's not 'traditional' Thai. However, I would say that the use of black tiles around the pool, although aesthetically pleasing, get extremely hot in the sun and so could be seen as a design flaw. Care needs to be taken with the concrete used on the floor as it gets very slippery when wet. Other than that, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

Nice, quiet location by an amazing beach, rooms are spacious and comfy bed.
guests are reserving beach beds in the morning and 70% of beds are empty most of the day which is frustrating! Reserving should not be allowed and towels should be taken away for people to actually use the beach beds throughout the day.
Beach spa is fantastic!
Put a box up for tips for all staff as otherwise certain staff might miss out on tips (if you put drinks on room etc)

I stayed 2 nights in The Dewa. All staff was nice and attending. We first got room on ground floor but it was quite humid so we asked for another room and the hotel made arrangements right away. I love the way this hotel was organized. It is connected to private beach in Klong Prao which was nice. But it was during rainy season with high waves, so we didn't go into the ocean but stayed within the hotel and enjoyed the pool. They had diverse promotion for hotel sevices including spa and dinner which you must try. I enjoyed the breakfast as well. Chocolate bread, omelette and noodles were delicious.

Staff is beyond friendly . The place has little amount of rooms , so it's perfect cause it's not over crowded.
Checkin was a bit hassle. They asked us to present the card we originally booked with room with. We didn't bring it with us . It was a hassle cause we had to log into our online banking and screen shot the original charge , then email it to them. We also had to email the booking confirmarion to them. Still
Don't understand why. The room is perfect. Except the bed. The beds were like wood underneath us. The beach dinners were amazing , also very tasty and affordable. We didn't eat out only considering we stayed there three nights (on the island). The hotel takes you to the near by waterfall (it's about half a mile hike/walk) that was nice. Another thing was annoying is that at check in they give you. Voucher for 10% off your first dining, then another 10% then another 20%. Since we ate at the hotel , we couldn't saved money. What they didn't tell me was you have to present it to the staff when asking for the bill. That made me upset because they didn't say that at check -in. And when I brought it up at check out , it was too late. Another thing I was annoyed with was during dinner I ordered wine. Half way and I fought a big bug/insect I'm it. When I brought it up to the waiters attention , he looked me at with a blank stare then said I can take it off ... I'm thinking he's talking about the bill. I said no pleaaw bring me another one. They charged me twice for wine.

Great location but poor management.

The Dewa has a nice location with beach access around 20 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. The hotel has an interesting 'modern Asian' design with a good size pool and spacious deluxe rooms. However the overall 'feel' of staying in the hotel is that the management really put their effort into marketing the hotel above ensuring guests may want to return. Simple things like only providing 1 key for 2 guests staying in the same room and not having nearly enough staff on duty point to cost saving above guest comfort. Upon check in you are given a plastic 'towel voucher' so if you want to swim in the pool you must first redeem your voucher. Sounds simple but in reality the pool is next to reception and the pool bar but neither location will give you a towel. Instead you must walk to the beach bar to get a towel and then walk all the way back to the pool to use your towel. However when I did this the beach bar simple said sorry 'towel finish'. After complaining that I wanted to swim the staff then walked all the way to reception to get fresh towels and ten minutes later I was able to use the pool with my towel...

Every night they have a theme dinner. The charcoal grill buffet was 750 baht and comprised a few soggy vegetables and meat of seafood 'on request' and heavily rationed. Luckily we looked at the food before sitting down so cancelled our table before getting fleeced. If you stay here EAT OUT!

So in conclusion if you stay here, take your own beach towelsand eat out...

Great place with reasonable price

The hotel layout and room design are awesome. Pool is huge and located in the middle of the property. A lot of greenery with beautiful beach front. We had Seafood buffet for dinner and it was absolutely yummy and worth for the price (THB 699). We enjoyed our two-nights stay so much. Just two comments for future improvement, weak wifi and weak water in a shower.

The design of the Dewa is a lust for the senses; modern Thai with concrete, thatch roofs, wood, fabric, and nice floors. However, the condition of the best place is getting a little long in the tooth: spotty wifi at times, towels that are not always clean, etc. (we had to be moved to another room). On the other hand, the pool is excellent, the beach more than adequate, the staff marvelous; and the places to lounge plenty.

We really loved this hotel. The hotel is right on the beach and the pool area is really lovely (although the sun loungers at the pool are in the shade for a high proportion of the day when we were there). The hotel is walkimg distance to other beach front reastaurants and bars and to the high street. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel & great location

We really enjoyed our stay at Dewa. We had a Villa and it was such a beautiful room. I just wished it would have had a better view (rather than into another person's Villa) The pool was very nice and it is on a really nice, quiet part of the beach. There were plenty of beach restaurants during the day & night, and walking out at night was not a problem. We felt very safe almost every where we went. The staff was accommodating and the breakfast was amazing!!! The nightlife was a bit non-existent (I am not sure if this was down season??) We were looking for places to have a drink, but a lot of the bars were completely empty and most restaurants were empty by 8pm.

Amazing pool

Started off our stay in a villa, but it smelt musty and aircon was very noisy. Chose to \"downgrade\" to a superior room, which had a better layout and was overlooking the pool. Much nicer room, though aircon noise was still intrusive. The villas have an amazing design, they are very private and certainly are something special for a special occasion, though we found the second floor rooms just as good and easier to use. Either way, this is an excellent hotel with great staff. You'll enjoy your stay.

The highlight is definately the afternoons watching the sun go down over the sea, with beautiful music playing, comfortable lounges set up on the hotels private beach, then moving through to dinner on the beach which the setting, comfort, service and food we're all excellant. Hotel staff we're some of the best, they get to know you and take an interest in you and your holiday and their English is very good. I have stayed at 100's of hotels and the Dewa rates in my top 10. The only thing I would change would be the bed and pillow were very firm, though this is fairly normal for Thailand, a nice pillow top would of made my sleep a touch more comfortable, some people would prefer a very firm mattress, impossible to please everyone understandably. With only being 59 rooms you don't get a crowded feeling, no line ups at breakfast or to use facilities, pool relatively not crowded. I give the Dewa a 9.5 out of 10..

Loved our stay at the Dewa

We were very happy at the Dewa. It is definitely as they describe - distinctively different! Very interesting industrial design. The room was fairly small, but had everything we would need. Bed was fairly hard, but it suited us. Shower was awful, very difficult to get correct temperature and poor pressure. But the bath had an attachment with much better pressure to use. Breakfast was delicious, such a fantastic selection of all types of food to suit everyone. The pool was beautiful and its location means it is in the shade from about 3pm, perfect for our fair skin. We ate at the hotel twice, but there are better places close by. The beer wasn't anywhere near cold enough for the climate! Location was great, it's in a quiet area so not really suited for partying, more for relaxing. The staff were very friendly, doing anything to help. I would highly recommend to stay at the Dewa.

Very good hotel on an excellent beach

Very nice hotel. We stayed in a comfortable well designed and peaceful bungalow near the beach for nearly 2 weeks. Great service and we where well looked after especially by the manager. The hotel is located on a very nice beach with a cool and relaxed atmosphere. Good sun beds. The hotel offered dinner on their beachaerea with very good food but the live music was not to our taste. That was no problem since there where a lot of nice beach bars/restaurants nearby with good and fresh seafood and lots of other thaifood. We preferred the Pilot bar with tables on the beach with great food and very good wine by the glass, and with very nice service. The hotel pool aerea was good with a big nice pool. The hotel breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. The manager gave us good advices and helped us with booking very nice trips. We recommend a sailing and snorkeling trip on a catamaran. That was perfect ! we recommend this hotel for a peaceful and beautiful holiday.

A VERY RELAXING ESCAPE

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel over the last 3 years, and the experience was even better this time. All of the staff seem to take a lot of pride in their hotel and the satisfaction of their guests. Several times during our stay, the staff used their initiative on the little extra things that made our stay more enjoyable.
The rooms are very richly decorated and comfortable. The breakfasts are superb and I still love the dinner in the evening on the beach.

Great resort in Koh Chang

I found it very difficult to book an hotel in Koh Chang through Expedia due to the limited amount of available choices, but in the end The Dewa was great. It is a small resort with a big swimming pool in the middle, direct access to a beach (not the best of the island but ok) and a nice terrace to dine directly in front of the sea.
The resort is between White Sand Beach and Lonely Beach (the two best beaches in Koh Chang), it has all the facilities you can ask to such a remote place and the staff is very professional and kind. My room was spacious and original in its concept, while the cleaning was just ok.
The breakfast/dinner were very good too, with a nice selection, fresh food and professional waiters. The price is convenient too (not comparable to street food of course).
Another good point was the possibility to rent a motorbike to travel around the island and to organise trips directly from the reception.

Love's In the Air

This was a special trip to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend, the entire facility exceeded our expectation. Beside the zeng atmosphere it was romatic from the bedroom to the private beach. Our morning walks was peacful without the crowd making our playful moments more personal. This was the best vacation I have ever taken with a man and I will always remember this Dewa Koh Chang for putting the spark in my life for the week we spent there.

Stayed at the Dewa for 1 night. Excellent, new, clean and great design. Especialy the bathroom, one of a kind! Love to be back there if the price is not too high. Breakfast was ok. Service was good. Located about 4-5 mintues walk from the main road. Really a hiding place for a peaceful vacation!

Grundsätzlich eine schöne Hotelanlage, jedoch stark renovierungsbedürftig . Frühstück war okay , der Kaffee jedoch nicht. Wunderschöne Poolanlage und das Personal wirkt oft überfordert , da die meisten eher schlechtes bis gar kein Englisch können. Für ein Hotel mit internationalen Gästen ein no Go .

Prima resort voor een paar dagen rust

Hotel ligt in een rustig deel van het eiland. Eigen vervoer is aan te raden als je wat wilt zien. Strand stond als zandstrand geadverteerd, maar er stond een groot waarschuwingsbord ivm scherpe stenen! Waterschoenen zijn hier aan te raden! Vriendelijk personeel. Redelijk ontbijt. Geen lift en veel trappen dus niets voor mensen die slechter ter been zijn. Airco op de kamer maakte veel lawaai. Gebied rondom zwembad kan een opknapbeurt gebruiken. Veel kapot houtwerk en tegels. Zwembad met 1.40 mtr wel lekker diep tov meeste zwembaden in Thailand. Voor avondactiviteiten is er bij Kai Bae beach of White Sand beach meer te doen. Ben je niet op zoek naar meer vertier dan zit je hier prima.

Nice place to stay with a beautiful garden. Rooms are a bit dated and wear and tear is visable at some place. Such as the taps of the shower and sink. Very friendly staff and nice restaurant for lunch or dinner. Breakfast room in the morning is very (too) warm. Beautiful Beach but be careful with the sandflies present.

Personal nicht besonders aufmerksam, sind ständig am Handy.nicht ganz leicht was zu trinken oder zu essen zu bekommen ohne Aufforderung. Villa kleiner als beschrieben, und dunkel. Handtücher für den Strand sind muffig. Strandliegen super und schattig und ausreichend vorhanden. Viele essensmöglichkeiten in der Umgebung, Frühstück mit großer Auswahl.

Fantastisk 10 dage vi havde på dette hotel

Et super dejligt hotel med god beliggenhed direkte på skøn strand. Dinners foregår hver dag på stranden i romantisk setup. Utroligt venligt og høfligt personale. Vi havde et problem på vores flotte værelse med en beskidt og defekt madras, men inden for 5 min efter vi klagede blev den udskiftet og vi fik en par massage i SPA som undskyldning. Giver top karakter for service og yderst fantastisk personale. Der er de smukkeste solnedgange fra liggestolen mens man nyder en kold pina colada!

Hotel plus intime que je ne le pensais . Architecture superbe dans un jardin somptueux extrêmement bien entretenu. Petit déjeuner superbe avec choix de plats asiatiques et européens . Et la plage ... Je pense de tout ce que j'ai vu que cet hôtel est le mieux situé sur koh Chang .
En ce qui concerne la chambre très bien malgré un éclairage volontairement trop sombre

Super schönes und stilvolles Hotel!
Frühstück ist eher asiatisch angehaucht, aber sehr üppig.
Pool ist wirklich ein Highlight und sogar kleine Abkühlung!
Schöner und langer Strandabschnitt mit unzähligen Massage Möglichkeiten und günstigen Restaurants.
Wir hatten die Villa gebucht, welche durch die Raumaufteilung wirklich besonders war und näher am Strand war.
Ausreichend Liegen am Strand und Pool vorhanden, die super breit und bequem sind.

Fantastisk!

Hotellet er utrolig fint med et flott bassengområde og beliggenhet rett på en fantastisk strand. Stranda er ikke overfylt av solsenger eller for mange mennesker, og det er perfekt å bade der. Mange koselige restauranter bortover stranda for både lunsj og middag, inkludert The Dewa som har nydelig mat som serveres på stranda, der det settes ut bord hver kveld. Rommet og badet er stort og flott, og med fin uteplass. Frokosten er av de beste vi har opplevd med mange alternativer - både asiatiske og internasjonale. Personalet er utrolig vennlige og hjelpsomme. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake!

Riktigt fint hotell!

Riktigt fint hotell som var super prisvärt, hade super fin pool, amazing frukost och jätte fin strand. Maten på hotellet var dyrast på hela stranden men väldigt bra. Riktigt lugnt hotell med fina vyer! Rummen var rena och fräscha.

The coffee and tea at breakfast are unfortunately bad, no idea why, maybe the water.
Breakfast is fine.

Staff very friendly.
They also immediately arranged a scooter for us, top service.

Christmas dinner on the beach was AMAZING, very very good.

Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Chambre villa de 60 m2 : ÉTOUFFANTE aucune ouverture directe sur l extérieur seulement 1 porte d accès au balcon. Aucune vue sur la plage.
Rangement quasi inexistant 1 placard sans étagères. Minibar non inclus même les sodas sauf eau. WIFI DÉFECTUEUX il faut demander un répétiteur à l arrivée. Climatisation bruyante et face au lit !!! Pas de soleil. Moustiques dues à la pièce d'eau subie et trop proche.
Les chambres de l immeuble resteront à l ombre toute la journée exposition nord !
Plage : seulement 38 transats immobilisés à l'ombre pour 59 chambres ( environ 120 personnes). 5 poufs sur le sable pour 59 chambres. La plage est inaccessible dès 16h30 où l hôtel impose et installe son restaurant bbq du soir privant ainsi aux clients le droit de jouissance de la plage.
Piscine : seulement 10 transats pour 59 chambres (environ 120 personnes )A l ombre dès 12h30 aucun transat côté soleil.
Infrastructure inaccessible aux personnes à mobilité réduite

Fin o lummig resort med en fantastisk pool, jättestor!
Bra sängar o fin frukostbuffe med det mesta man kan önska sig.
Stranden fin men bra soldäck med möjlighet till skugga men skulle behövts fler solstolar, ofta fullbokat.
Hotellets restaurang har fint länge men bedrövligt dålig mat och dyr, synd, men finns gott om trevliga o restauranger utmed stranden.

Nice and very friendly staff, beautiful garden, good breakfast. Some “wear and tear” and hotel should work on replacement program (for example lounge cushions). Unfortunately there were sandflies on the beach which was very annoying. Overall good stay.

Fantastisk hotel til en meget god pris

Wonderful stay.

Alt spillede. Skønt stort værelse, rent og lækkert. Alle var så servicemindede og vi fik god hjælp til vores rejseplan videre til Cambodja. Fantastisk lækker pool med bobbelområde (massage) og super massage på stranden. Særlige morgenmadsønsker blev indfriet med et smil. Ligger helt roligt ved stranden ca. 500 m. ned af en stikvej fra hovedvejen med restauranter, kiosker, etc. Selve byen ca. 1 km derfra i gåafstand.Kan KUN anbefales.
