this place is a little tired and i think needs a bit of a re-boot. There were great elements and the set up is peaceful and the breakfast was very nice, but the real let down was that the whole place is like the marie-celeste in the evenings. there is no life. no hub. no bar and 2 restaurants but both on the same menu so in fact, only 1! we dont want partys and seek out places that are quieter but this was way too quiet. there was a musical duo which seemed to play most evenings but they were not good, oddly placed in relation to the diners and often playing to 4 or 6 people which makes everybody a little uncomfortable.

On checking in, the staff were lovely and very helpful, however we had to be moved after our first night after to bathroom flooded due to heavy rain and lack of upkeep of the building roof.

The second room was dirty, full of ants and in extremely poor condition. The hotel were unable to help, and could only offer a free massage or meal as compensation.

Definitely not a 5* resort as advertised, and we left 3 nights early, resulting in us being out of pocket, however I could not stay here as I was left covered in bites and felt the poor upkeep was a health hazard.

This is a truly beautiful property. The wooden panelling and carvings everywhere create a very Zen feel. Beautiful restaurant and bar overlooking a private beach. The room itself was gorgeous with a pool overlooking a river. Superb selection of food at breakfast and great service.

I was in this Resort few years ago in summer (2019) Natalia / Nathalie Lopez , and I decided to gift it to my Brother and sister in law. So I Organized them a trip to Thailand including this Resort. The manager few years ago was so amazing so I thought it was well worth sending there my family. I am glad they liked it so much!

This is our fourth time. The Pool Suites are really worthwhile - well set out with large balcony and of course pool. The beach at Khlong Prou is possibly the nicest beach in Koh Chang where the hotel is.
The staff are really excellent - Miss Nui, Miss Mod, and Mr Sadam and Mr Zin - english to thai might be wrong - and many other staff really nice and helpful.
Can recommend the offers where you get credit of 1000 baht a day - means you can use as you wish - restaurant in hotel is excellent and 15 per cent off in low season. Food is thai style if you want that.
My partner did a course in fruit carving and that was well run and fun.
Gym and pools are excellent. Has transfers to town which is not far.

It was rainy season, so swimming at the beach was not possible, but the pools were very nice. We stayed in a garden bungalow and it was very nice. Would highly recommend.

Santhiya Tree Resort - Very Impressive Luxury

It's amazing that we managed to book a pool bungalow at high season (February). A beautiful luxurious accomodation with shared pool. The woodwork (which I believe is Teak) in our bungalow was stunningly beautiful, complete with work desk, sofa futon and a living room with an awesome flat screen TV. Also we loved the furnished patio and clean, crystal clear swimming pool. With these bunglaw suites one doesn't even have to bother going to the resort's main guest pool near the beach. We had the pool all to ourselves because our neighbors were gone much of the time. These bungalows are the height of luxury, including having their own Jacuzzi. The gorgeous Jacuzzi was our favorite. And the grounds are breathtakingly beautiful. The resort has that jungle vibe with so many song birds and natural beauty surrounding it. And the unique and elegant architecture of the main hotel building and cabins and bunglalows is another reason to book accomodations here. And the beach too is just beautiful. Lots of activities in the area, including paddle boards and tour boats. I highly recommend. The Santhiya Tree Resort will not disappoint.

The pools on the balcony’s are freezing cold and can’t be enjoyed as expected. Sunbeds are falling apart, and rotting wood in the showers and in balcony. Higher priced food & drinks which all come with a 17% service charge/tax applied. 1 mile from main road, they do have shuttle bus 5/6 times a day otherwise it’s a good 15-20 mins walk.

Location is great granted you hire a scooter or don't mind paying for taxi's. It's in the middle of the island so it's a short drive north to White Sand Beach or south to some other bars/restaurants/shops but close enough to some great local bites and bars.

All guests are equal, meaning this resort isn't tiered, you pay more for the Villas which are bigger and give you direct access to a shared pool. Or you get an amazing hotel room with a personal plunge pool which is perfect thing to come home to after a day of exploring in the South East asian heat.

Thai people are famously easy going and friendly, Santhiya staff live up to that reputation and then some.

Lastly, its as good as the photos. Book in confidence.

This hotel is amazing! It's very beautiful and unique, the whole place is made out of timber and has this incredible smell to it.
The breakfast is great, lots of variety and good coffee. The staff is very helpful and polite.
I highly recommend Santhiya Tree and definitely would stay there again if I go back to Koh Chang.

A beautiful, older resort in the low season which could use some refurbishing and additional wait-staff. It's quiet, out of the way and was once gorgeous. Now it needs a coat of varnish. The hot water in the shower works very well, if you can figure out how to manipulate the faucet. The main restaurant needs more servers, so things like silverware aren't forgotten when the food is brought out.The bottom line: it's quiet, and like stepping into a few hundred years ago. I would consider going back, though it's not perfect

Nice hotel for couples with friendly staff. The main building is all in wood with unique style and has nice pools for each room. I think these rooms are best. Staff including Sonya were helpful in fixing small issues. Gym better than before but could have a bit more weights and bench. Both pools nice. Breakfast nice. On nice part of clean beach.

A great place to stay if you want to be alone. Next to the beach etc. I stay in a villa type room for two nights and asked to change to the pool room over looking the mountains. The hotel was able to help me with that.

However the hotel located around 1km drive from main road where all the local shops is. I believe the hotel offer a mini van pick up and drop off. I used a scooter to get around, the island are very hilly you need to be a confidence rider if you want to rent a scooter.

Definitely one of the best resorts on koh Chang. I stayed in 2 rooms. First was the pool suite river view. Fantastic room with unbelievable views of the river and mountains. Good size. Private pool and bathtub facing the mountains. Nice size bathroom. Second was the pool access villa. Another fantastic room. Nice size semi private pool only 3 villa’s can use. Good size room with a great layout. Big bathroom with a custom built whirlpool bathtub. Great restaurants with delicious food. Brilliant big pool by the beach. Staff was excellent always friendly and very helpful. Fantastic service. Done everything they could to make a memorable stay. Although not 5-star international standard as we had expected and experienced at other Santhiya locations, the \"pool suite\" room was very beautiful and comfortable. (Rooms in this category are newer and were in much better condition than the upgraded \"villa\" category.) The manager and staff were very kind and courteous and tried very hard to improve the quality of our stay. Rainy season is not an ideal time to visit Koh Chang so we encountered a few kinds of \"wildlife\" in our room. Excellent mid-range resort on lovely, well kept grounds and a nice beach, but head to another Santhiya location if you're seeking a high-end experience of exclusivity and luxury.

Booked 2 nights stay for my mom and it turned out to be her fantastic experience. Got a huge discount rate from Expedia but all the experiences were 5 stars. My mom got the upgraded room for the first night but she requested to go back to the original room for the second night for a change. Both room types were awesome from her feedback (Hideaway Pool Villa & Pool Suite Water View)

Good service, nice breakfast with live music (traditional thai music), very clean and well-manged space in the rooms, friendly and responsive staff.

I'd definitely book again but it will be for myself next time :)

Wow, what a great place to stay. Suggest you stay in the Villa Pool rooms.
Breakfast was fantastic, Dinner was good but could have been better.
One frustrating point is that they kept moving the time for Happy Hour.
Lastly the staff was outstanding especially the front desk, they were very helpful arranging transfers for us.

Quite simply the nicest place we have ever had the pleasure of staying at and we have stayed a lot of places. We stayed in the palace sitting at the back of the property away from the beach but it was a good trade off since we had a pool IN OUR ROOM! Not only did we have a pool in the room but had an amazing view of the waterway behind the property and beautiful hillside behind that. Breakfast buffet was among the best we've ever had as well with many choices that should be able to accommodate even the pickiest of eaters. Free paddle board rental was a nice way to explore the water. Be warned this resort is a little ways off of the main road but completely worth it. There is a free shuttle that will take you in to the main road if you want to go to a bar, restaurant or shop. You could walk to the main road if you really wanted to but it would take you a little time. Staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating.

It was my third time staying in this property and probably the last. Copare to other available options on the island I do not feel that I was getting the best value.

What is good:
* Bech is nice
* Grounds and architecture is impressive
* Friendly and helpful staff

What to my opinion is not so good:
* Food in general
* Breakfast, inconvenient location, poor selection of foods and unusually inconvenient display of food
* Impressive rooms to look at but very inconvenient to live in.

It is an excellent property...in a secluded area. Perfect for a quite vacation.We had an excellent experience barring a couple of things:
1. The breakfast should have a menu that suites Indian tastes too
although we are quite liberal in our taste ...still we felt it.
.2. The food served at the beach side restaurant of the resort was not upto the mark at all. It needs lot of improvement. The chef should be more careful while cooking.

I definitely recommend this hotel if you travel Koh Chang. The hotel has it’s own beautiful beach and surroundings. This hotel is located 1 km away from the main road but free shuttle bus service is available. The breakfast was also great. All staffs were nice. The best thing I had while I was there was complimentary kayak and sup board rental service.

As one was in best resort in Thailand , this was the worst service ever !!!
Not recommend at all this resort .
The team was block mind and they don’t mind if I will sleep in the reception under them mistake while they supply room not acceble for me and they didn’t mention the building is under concrruction .
The food low level for the money they charge and they charge extra 10% for service , so Expedia 10% for food not worth is nothing and Expedia provide it only
For one time use.
Also Expedia service was very leak and
I will never use them agagin since they not support them customers at all!!! No matter even if you vip account in them platform .
Recommend for others platform that they support much better then Expedia while you have problem

One of the most relaxing hotel breaks I've had

We really loved this place, the individual villas are fantastic and comfortable, the pool area and bar/restaurant are also great. Fantastic massages at reasonable prices are also onsite, with the sea in the background it makes for an amazingly relaxing experience. Add to this a private beach with complimentary paddle board and kayak hire there wasn't any more we needed. Like everywhere in Thailand this hotel suffered from being overstaffed, more people does not mean an improved service and often when ordering food or drink things were wrong or empty glasses and plates not immediately taken.

This is a beautiful oasis in Koh Chiang.

This hotel is listed as 4 or 4 1/2 stars but in reality it's closer to 2 1/2 or 3 stars, max. There were bugs in the bathroom constantly, as it is pretty much an outdoor bathroom that they threw a plastic roof over. We told the hotel about this the first night and they sent a woman over with a can of bug spray... Furthermore, the room itself is pretty rundown. You can see that this place could be nice with renovations but the wood on the floors is chipped, the paint is old, there are marks on the walls, and the furniture is very dated. I was really disappointed in this place, so much so that we even tried to change to a different hotel, only to find there were no real 5 star resorts on the entire island. The cherry on top was that a stray dog ran at us on the beach only about 200 feet from the hotel. The hotel is run down and honestly so is the island.

Great place for quiet a relaxing holiday. Very helpfull a friendly hotel staff. Furniture in rooms is little bit old, but dosn´t matter. Good room service, excellent breakfasts. Sandy beach is clean, enough space for relax on the beach or by the big pool. Happy hours 1+1 17:00-19:00.

Beautiful place right on the beach

Had a fantastic week here- staff are lovely, the food and facilities excellent. Right by the sea, but not too busy. The room was spacious with an exotic bathroom and the bed was so comfortable. Would happily return here again.

Absolutely great hotel

Probably the best hotel on Koh Chang! An absolutely lovely hotel set in an amazing location! The beach, pool and hotel accodation is stunning! The staff are all warm and engaging! This is a real find! I’ve stayed in some lovely hotels around the world and this is one that has left a real impression! Didn’t want to leave !!

Excellent resort

So much to like here. Stunning tranquil and aesthetically pleasing everywhere you look.
Great drinks, food, room, smells.
One down side is that they seem inclined to nickel and dime you for everything and can be callous in the process, which is saying a lot given the warm Thai culture.
When we were leaving, we were interrogated as to the location of one of the beach towels because we had not put all the soggy wet towels back in the armoire where we had found them. Very strange.

Nice beachside resort with excellent service

This is a beautiful, but dated resort. Its best points are the location (right on the water) and service (all staff are excellent). The furniture in the rooms, the bathroom fittings and the like are old and need upgrading. The Wi-Fi was poor, and basically unusable on a laptop (it was better on my phone). The beach towels provided by the resort are not proper towels but more like big pieces of tea towel - quite disappointing for the money this place charges. The restaurant is very good, though not cheap. The breakfast is excellent (tho the cheese and bread selection needs more variety).

The best resort in koh chang.

Everything was perfect! All the workers there were so nice and friendly.
Room was just amazing! Own beach, nice swimming pool. Good restaurant, good breakfast!
This is my 4th time in koh chang so ive been staying at many different hotels/resorts before ans this one was the best. Im coming back there in 4days again before i leave koh chang.

Wonderful stay at amazing resort

Our stay was amazing. What a gorgeous resort and the staff were so helpful and kind. They went above and beyond in helping to retrieve some personal belongings that we left behind in the lobby of the hotel. Everything about our visit was great. The views from the restaurant and the wonderful bathroom with a huge tub with a waterfall. Highly recommend this resort to all.
