The room did not match the pictures at all. Extremely expensive for the price you pay. Our private shower had mildew and mold all throughout the tile. The shower head had only four working sprayers.The shared kitchen amenities did not work; fridge and air conditioning. Rooftop terrace is not accessible and locked off.

Cleaning services was horrible. The bathroom was always dirty, the shower didn’t drain and the water was all over the floors. The sheets smell dirty.
The only thing good about it the hotel is nearby train station and restaurant.

Great location but needs upgrade

Amazing Location! It's 2 blocks from the main station with delicious restaurants right beside and in front of it.
I don't want to complain much as it is a budget stay afterall.. but it is quite outdated. Aircondition wasn't working properly (not cold at max and would randomly turn off) and the shower drain also clogs a lot. It's an ok place to sleep and store your stuff. I'd recommend this if you're tight on budget.

Was not a big fan of staying here but was happy to save money. Beds are a bit stiff and out of the 7 showers I took here, only 2 had hot water. I Would recommend getting the shared kitchen room as they are nicer and having a kitchen/fridge would have been a plus. We first got the triple bed room and it had nothing in it. Also, the single bed was broken in one room and the chair in another.

Stayed in private room with own bathroom. Was a couple of minutes walk from main building. Had a bunch of keys just to get into the apartment. Two of them were dodgy locks that were near impossible to get into. No batteries for tv remote, everything in bathroom was literally falling off! And the aircon leaked constantly so has to put the bedroom bin underneath to catch the running drips. Went for “breakfast” which consisted of a weak coffee and a chocolate croissant. That was it!! For the price we paid, we’d never return. Was awful!!

Hello, my friend and I stayed in a private room last night (Friday, May 24th) and checked out this morning. I have to complain about the inappropriate behavior of one of the employees who completely overstepped our boundaries and acted in a completely inappropriate manner. We were heading back to the hostel last night to go to sleep and had trouble with our keys. This is was an issue every time we had to enter the building in which the dorm was located, and had to ask for help from the receptionist every time we needed to re-enter. We were back at the hostel between the hours of 3am and 4am, and went to ask help from the receptionist working at this time. He helped us into the building and then proceeded to follow us up the stairs and entered our room. We did not invite nor want him in our room. He then pushed me up against the wall and started hugging me and kissing my cheek. I tried to push him away and it took both my friend and I to get him out of our room. His harassment and behavior are inexcusable, and this behavior is completely inappropriate of any employee and is not conducive to maintaining a safe hostel environment. We are both deeply shocked and shaken with what we experienced.

We booked a room with shared bathroom and they \"upgraded\" us to another room at the 5th floor but without Wi-Fi and the kitchen was flooded with water. They solved those problems only 4 hours before our check out and didn't get any reimburse for the inconvenience.. Matt is a great front desk helper but couldn't do much. When requested a reimbursement the owner and other member of the hostel said \"floods happens\" And they new this was happening 2 days before and gave the room at 5th floor knowing that issue. Will never schedule again with them..

Best hostel I’ve ever experienced! Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The location is great, a couple of minutes by walking to the main train station. The breakfast pastries are delicious and the building itself is very beautiful and historic. I would gladly recommend this hostel to anyone, especially solo travellers.

Very friendly staff! Great place to stay, clean and affordable. Very close to the termini, convenient to take public transportation to get to places. They also provide breakfast every morning and also have complementary drinks and snacks every evening. They also have a safe storage area for luggage Incase you need to check out and your next train is not till late. Would highly recommend this place to everyone!

This clean and well located hostel was exactly what I wanted as a 39-yr-old solo female traveller. I liked my 4-bed female only dorm with a cosy bed and plenty of space under the bed for my suitcase(but terrible pillow!) with shared bathroom, cabinet and body wash, table and chair, lockers and a bedside drawer, charging points, small balcony and invaluable aircon in 34 degree heat! Met some friendly, considerate ladies and the lift was handy to the fourth floor, although it took some getting used to!

Reception service was good, supplied an iron and luggage storage on last day with a late flight out. Towels charged at 2euros so take your own as well as handwash and toiletries! Free breakfast of tasty croissants but milk for coffee was awful but I found a fab cafe just a few doors to the right. The outside garden was small but noisy, full of young kids mostly so unable to read my book.
There are cheap restaurants directly opposite, but the food was poor on the whole. I did find an excellent souvenir shop around the corner and a lovely patisserie and local cornershop for cheap bottles of water and supplies.
The best thing was the local train station about 15mins walk from hostel. I bought a week's pass for 25euros and got to all the sights (Colosseum, Trevi Fountain etc) in just a few minutes. I also easily booked a bullet train to Venice using an online booth, though the queues are massive at any time of the day!

1. While no parking around, at the beginning asked reception about it, he said no idea. Also asked for earlier check-in for a few hours, with no flexibility, just said NO.

2. There was an elevator but customers are not allowed to use. Means two - three floors gotta go through steps.

3. Washrooms with bathroom at minimum quality.

4. No blanket at beds, just sheet.

5. I had everything by Expedia, but they asked 3.5 euro for city, on top of my payment. Not only didn't explain clearly, but also said only by CASH, not CARD !!! No trust !

I paid by card anyways but wouldn't come back there anymore.

We were in this hostel week at night we found a lot of bed bugs(Cimex )and now I have itching in my body and it isn’t comfortable at all. I don’t know how long this itching and tick marks will remain on my body. I don’t recommend this hotel at all.

Well, it is a Hostel but was expecting a bit more on the way of cleanliness. The room had a really musty and unpleasant odor. The shared bathroom was pit of toilet paper almost immediately. My girlfriend was bit multiple times by a bed bug while sleeping. Glad it was only one night. Ugh!!

Do not stay here!!!!

Please do not waste your money and stay here. I have stayed in a lot of places around the world for many years, and I have never stayed in such a dirty, disappointing and overpriced (for what you get) hostel. The private double room was in a separate building and was in fact a room in an apartment. The apartment stank of BO and dampness, as did the room. When I saw the bathroom, no wonder it smelt like that as there was mould all over the walls. The cleanliness of the bathroom is beyond comment - dirt, mould, pubic hair, grime everywhere. The bed was very uncomfortable and when tried to fix the sheet to my bed properly I found not only that I didn’t fit it so it was lose all night but I saw under the sheet and I noticed the absolute dirt, stains and hairs covered on the under sheet. I didn’t change out of my day clothes to go to bed that’s how uncomfortable I felt and I didn’t want any part of my body touching the bed. I couldn’t get out of the room fast enough the next morning once I finally got to sleep between the smells, thinking about the dirt and the crazy loud noise coming from the plumbing anytime we or anyone else in the apartment used the sinks or toilets. The “breakfast” the next morning was equally a joke - a cardboard box of croissants and a jug of coffee, that’s it. Not worth the bed and breakfast rate we paid for. Overall I cannot stress enough-do not stay here. I was more than disappointed and angry and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. They should be closed down!

I chose this hostel because of the close proximity to the Terminal and other sights I wanted to see.
I had a shared room with 4 beds total.
Sadly, there is only one shower toilet for the room and no working exhaust fan. The bathroom is covered from top to bottom in black mould. The smell is overwhelming when you open the bathroom door. To get better air, I opened the terrace window and left the bathroom door open. I was asked by staff to keep the window shut for the comfort of others. I could not leave it shut, the smell was so overwhelming. I felt bad letting all the heat escape. Very friendly staff, good area, but the room itself was terrible. At night when I returned to the hostel, I never wanted to go to my room because of the mould smell, but common areas (kitchen and dining area) are very small. The kitchen also smelt like bug repellent (Raid) the entire time I was there. The shared fridge had a bad odour, as well.
Overall, I think staying some place else would have enhanced my trip to Rome greatly.

The worst stay by far.

While the reception is at via gaeta, the stay is at an other location.
The apartment has 5 rooms and all share one bathroom that reeks of mold.
The bathroom is not the only thing that is being shared, the mold is too - it's presence is felt just moments after picking the lock because the keys barelly work.
The whole apartment has this rotten smell. The walls look like that they have been painted by rome's first cook. And by that i mean they are ugly and not a single coat of paint has been added since.
The tv does not work, but the AC stays on all the time. You guessed it, rome's cook did the electrical too. You have to flip the switch from the electric panel in order to turn it off but that means you can't charge your phone overnight.
Let me tell you, the view is fantastic; fantastically poor that is, but this won't be a problem because you'll be closing the windows unless you want cigar smoke coming from the neighbours.

All jokes aside, do not book this place. It is by far the worst place we have ever stayed at.

The location is great very close to terminal station. But the cleaning is just ok. I paid for buffet breakfast but unfortunately only been given croissant with with generic coffee. For the coffee hotel provides very low quality plastic cups which normally use for the cold water, using this alone one cup possible can melt. I would say cup is terrible and very unhealthy.

So the property review before booking said \"TV, air conditioning, wifi\". The first room only had wifi. Be careful when booking this hotel as they have a hostel section, which is the hotel where you check-in, and then another property which has slightly better amenities. The hostel section is mainly single kids sharing rooms and bathrooms, with a few private rooms. The property that you want to push for and stay for is the other property. The air conditioning unit was there, but it couldn't be used until late May for whatever made-up reason given by the owner. There was also no wifi, as they are in between carriers right now at the other property. There was a TV in this room on the other property, but it was really noisy as the street to your left is a main street that goes by the train station. Just call and confirm what property you will be staying in before you go and confirm all of the amenities that you want/need before booking this property.

Hotels.com overbooked the hotel and when we got there we didn't have a room. They did put us in a nice apartment which I'm very greatful for. Notes are that the luggage storage is a shed, 200% not looked after and unprotected (from people and weather). At checkout we had to pay for €7 tax in cash - I gave a €20 note to the receptionist and he (in a very unwillingly way) told us to go somewhere to change the money (at 6am). If you don't accept card, you either need change on hand or to go change it yourself, not tell the guest who has card AND CASH to go do your job.

We stayed for 3 nights n a private room, with private full bathroom, in a separate building just around the corner. Both are very close to Termini railway station - less than 10 min walk.

The gentleman who checked us in (sorry, forgot his name) and took us to our room was amazing.

The room was not big but that was fine with us as we only had carry ons. You could still store one large suitcase with no problem. It was also very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The shower was clean and spacious, plenty of hot water as well.

The wifi service was excellent in both, our building and the main building where front desk is. The property also has a garden patio with separate wifi - also excellent signal.

If you're looking for a nice, simple, clean place to stay in Rome this is one we would reccommend and definitely go back to.

Terrible! Don't stay here. There were bed bugs and the staff was terrible in dealing with the problem. They wouldn't talk to me and hush hushed me completely. all they wanted, was for me to change rooms so i wouldn't be around other people. i don't know anything about bed bugs but they didn't give me any information or tell me what i should do when i got home and now i've got a problem at home!! i try to reach them, but they don't answer my email. this is totally irresponsible.

Nice safe quiet location, spacious comfortable rooms. Insect issue, and one staff member was very defensive not happy to compensate, offering a refund only if we check out and go elsewhere at after 9pm at night, should have immediately offered compensation (i suggested 50% off) for laundering and discomfort, maybe free drink in the restaurant. Instead of being awful, and fighting over even compensation for laundry which I feel is a necessity prior to leaving for another accommodation, especially since he figured it was appropriate to point out that their visiting guests are who is responsible for bringing the bed bugs in the first place.

Our private room was in a siffeeent building from the main hostel and from the common area and kitchen, but it was only a five minute walk. The room was small but clean and comfortable, and in a very good location. There was only one bathroom on our floor but it was clean. The shower; however, had very little water pressure: the water basically just fell out of it.

location is excellent and quiet but service is so bad there is no hot water in kitchen for drink. lift to go up stairs .knifes to cut fruit. tea spoon to move your drink .no locker for your cupboard .breakfast as they said but till morning they said we did not get it from bakery yet
even computers do not work just one at reception and you will set down at front of it 20 cm this hurt my eyes add to that you will pay 4 euros tax and deposit 5 euros for your key and when you check out may be if they have change you will refund it. just location but service is awful awful awful never i stay at it again

Hostel close to Termini Station in Rome

Relatively clean, nice hostel. Descent neighborhood. Good breakfast in the morning. Bring a small lock for the lockers, and a towel. They will hold your stuff in their luggage shed before and after you check out. They provide wine in the tv area at night.

Stayed for two nights in this hostel. Rooms were clean and spacious. I chose it because of its proximity to the central station, which is great since there's always a bus or train headed threat way after a long day of sightseeing. 24 hour front desk was a savior and the staff were very helpful and nice. Neighborhood was very safe to walk around in at night. Would definitely come back!

Overall I had an ok stay. Location is close to Termini Train Station and airport shuttles. However I found that room pictures on the site are misleading so that you can't see the bunk bed in the room, but only twin beds. The booking numbers also are nothing to go by (I booked last minute as a second person out of 4 in the room, when in reality it turned out I filled the last bed in a different room, where 3 other people had been staying for a while already). But if you're not bothered by that then go for it. A sweet pastry and a small hot drink are a nice treat in the morning.

I was in Rome for 3 days and stayed in Freedom hostel. This is really awesome Hostel with very kind staffs and well-equipped facilities. The complimentary drinks and Garden added the Hostel even more complete.

I stayed in a shared room for 4. The location is good! near the Termini station, but i must say the cleanliness wasnt that good. the rest was ok!

worth it!

staff were very friendly and helpful. hostel is very well located, a few minutes walking to every sightseeing. rooms are clean and also toilets. its an old building, which gives u the mood of the city. Im very happy :)

The location was wonderful; right beside the train station. It was a hostel and we wanted a hotel. Acceptable as a hostel. The website did not differentiate between the two. Noisy, bathrooms was not really clean. One of our blankets was really stained. We booked for 2 nights but left after 1 night. Breakfast was a doughnut or croissant. Coffee from a vending machine. The staff was polite.

Great location, very friendly personnel. The only issue is that they took the price for one night from my card a couple of days before my stay, then they charged me for all my nights at the reception saying that I'll get that money for one night back on my card in a couple of days. But I never did. Other than that everything was perfect.

Not bad for the price

The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The location is great - very close to Termini Station and to La Republica, which makes it super easy to get around. There are a few restaurants on the street that are open pretty late and a supermarket on the corner.

The room I was in was pretty small and cramped, but for the price it was not too bad. Plus, I was there for less than 24 hours (just to sleep) before I took a flight out of Rome. I was surprised that there weren't towels in the room, and when I got to the room there was no toilet paper in the bathroom.
