A few blocks away from Sagrada Família… lots of shops around the area, easy to flag taxis around, close to public transport too.
My issue is the cleanliness. We waited downstairs because they were still cleaning the unit when we arrived, but when we got to the room, the restroom wasn’t cleaned properly, we had to redo it by using Lysol wipes everywhere. We stayed for 4 days, but only 4 small and very thin towels were provided for 4 people throughout the stay.

The room was comfortable. The bedroom with the 2 twin beds was very small and not easy to plug in phones etc due to the location of outlets. There was no dish cloth so we had to use paper towel to dry the dishes, but over all the accommodation was fine and in a good area!

the concierges were amazing, available in max. 5 mins. the place was HUGE, way bigger than we thought, with a beautiful balcony and. abide to the streets. we stayed there as a couple for 5 days, they don't have kitchen towels so i would recommend to pack those before hand, but very beautiful, would recommend and visit any time again!

There is a machine you use once inside to check in and print your room card. It takes a while but is relatively easy to use

For a 2 bedroom apartment it only had 1 sofa and could have done with more seating.

Generally a lovely place to stay. The kitchen equipment is somewhat basic. I wanted to use the oven but there was no tray. But if that’s the only thing that I thought that was negative, it’s good overall.

Perfect location near to the Sagrada Familia. Two metro stations are at walkable distance and it is on the route of a hop on hop off bus. Rooms are big with equally big living space and kitchen. Hygiene is well maintained inside the flat as well as the entire building.

We arrived in pretty late so we knew there wouldn't be anyone at reception. The self checkin was just not working for us, after putting my details in several times it rejected my booking. I pressed the intercom for help, when I got the the person I was talking to he issued a ticket from the machine, told me the room number so of I went up in the lift, fine got there but the key wouldnt work for the number so back down to the intercom where he then told me that our apartment was in another building after faffing around with key cards, up and down lifts and finding the right apartment we had easily wasted an hour. Apartment very basic, with only the bare essentials, no laundry in the building as was advertised in the apartments bio. The area was very good, plenty of shops, metro, buses etc. Certainly not worth what we paid for our 5 night stay. We wont be back, but just letting other people aware.

Our stay at Apartments Indepencia was very good. Check in was a little complicated. There are 2 buildings and the second building is where you check in. We did not have our booking id, only the itinerary number from hotels.com, so we had to contact the property to get the booking id. But once we had that the self check in was pretty easy. The apartment itself was very nice. It was very clean. 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living area and bathroom. The shower is very small but it worked. There is no laundry, but there is a laundromat across the street. The location is very close to 2 metro stations and plenty of shops and restaurants. The balcony is small but it was nice to have. There were no kitchen linens (towels, oven mitts, etc.) so if we had used the oven it would have been difficult to remove anything hot. The oven rack also did not fit into the oven correctly. There was a kettle to heat water but no coffee pot. But there are coffee shops less than a block away. They clean after 5 days of your stay, but we had to call and request that they come and clean and replace our towels. I would very much recommend Apartments Indepencia for a stay in Barcelona.

When I called to complain about the broken thermostat in our apartment, the person answering the phone said I’m sorry I don’t speak English. She transferred me to a third-party service that took my complaint down and said that somebody will reach out to me at some point during my stay. Mind you, it is 43°F outside. Heat is not working. And somebody may or may not reach out to me at some point during my stay.
You get one towel per person for the duration of your day or for the five days, whichever comes first. Would you like another towel? Sure, if you ever get a hold of somebody, you have to pay three euros to exchange it for a fresh one.
You have two semi rolls of toilet paper. Would you like some more? Sure, get your money out and they will give you more toilet paper.
Would you like an extra key? Because you only get one. They will give you a duplicate key if you are fortunate enough to get a hold of somebody.

The apartment itself was brilliant- very spacious, clean and airy. The main bed was huge and comfortable, second bedroom was cosy. The lounge had one sofa, no room for 4 of us to sit at the same time- but to be honest we were so busy out sightseeing it didn't matter. There is also a dining table and chairs. The entrance is a little hard to find- just a doorway, easily missed. It is in a quieter area, which we liked- 15 min walk from Sagrada Familia (must see), metro is 2 min walk away(€2.55 into centre) and taxi is around €10 to centre. Overall we loved it- but not very soundproofed, as it was close to New Year's Eve-, we could hear a lot of noise from other apartments in our block.

The communication to get into the apartment was good but before our arrival I tried sending emails and no answer. I had to call to get the internet code (which by the way the internet was aweful very weak signal and had to be in hall beside the bedroom).
On the site it said it had laundry but i had to go to the laundrymat across the street.
No dishwasher, the refrigerator was noisy, and barely any equipment to cook. Plenty of dishes though.

Check in was good because the conserge completed it for us. There was confusion on my part because the instructions indicate a pin for a credit card was required. I didn't have one so I withdrew cash to pay. Then I didn't need it. Maybe this portion of the instructions need to be reviewed in case others get confused. It was easy to walk to the Sagrada Familia and metro system.

The check in process is a mess. After 15 minutes of finally submitting all my information, paying on the machine it gives me my plastic room key but no information regarding the room number. I had to call the receptionist via the interphone at least 2-3 times for clarification on the process and at times they confused me more.

Great location near metro station and Sagrada. Really felt like you were in a true neighborhood. Checkin after 7 pm was challenging. Expedia Conf does not match with the hotel’s online kiosk. No email confirmation from hotel with correct number.

We stayed two nights. The apartment was large and quite adequate for four adults. The area had lots of walkable restaurants, bakeries and historical sites.
We loved the balcony. We were a little concerned about the self checkin but everything worked out well. There was staff available when called and very helpful.

In general terms it was clean, but the underneath of the beds had heavy dust, obviously it was not swept prior to our visit. At least every other day, service should enter and remove the trash and place paper toiltet in the bathroom.

The apartment was a really fantastic home base got our explorations of Barcelona! Great, spacious size for a couple, equipped kitchen, nice closet space and comfy bed and couch. Bathroom a great size as well, but only note is that there was only about 10 min of hot water for the shower at a time so a minor inconvenience when taking multiple showers. Overall a great value and fantastic location! Easy walk to multiple Metro lines, El Clot neighborhood and Sagrada familia. Would recommend!

The apartment was great! Few minutes walk to the metro station. Not a ton of stuff right around it but easy to get where you want to. Clean, great AirCon and great space. Comfy beds. Check in was a bit tricky as it is automated and the check in machine was in a different building than our apartment (a few doors down) but there are signs explaining. Just slow down and read them.

The apartment was great, and check-in was easy. The apartment was spacious, clean, and had a fridge, freezer, microwave, stovetop, and oven. The shower was good. The only issue we had was that two out of the three nights we came home late, and our keycard randomly didn't work (after it had been working all day). The second time, the passcode to enter the building also didn't work. Both times, the button to call for aid worked and we were given replacement ones that worked (customer service spoke both spanish and english). However, I've heard reviews where they say that their call was never answered until the following morning. However that did not happen to me so I had a great stay and found them to be very helpful.

The area and accommodations were great! But check-in was late due to a delayed flight and it was very difficult getting in touch with staff. We then found out there was automated check-in, which was never offered previously. Once we worked that out, it was a great stay.

It was nice and big apartment for 4 of us. it was clean and renovated and elevator was working. Check in was easy. one time we got locked out for some reason but customer service was quick to provide another access card. We requested 11am check out which was also accommodated. Overall nice place.

Our family of four stayed for a couple of nights we may have got a bad room there was this constant traffic noise in the night which ruined it for us. We come from Perth Australia and our suburbs are super dead in the night—- unfortunately maybe I did not ask of pay attention to what we were getting. So ended up with sleep deprived nights. Ok, was a bed to lay our heads, wasn't there a lot, so felt it was expensive just to sleep there. Everything most people want to see in Barcelona is all quite spread out so doesn't really matter where you stay and public transport is good in Barcelona.

Apartamento más que suficiente para 2 personas, muy contento de haber elegido este apartamento para pasar unos cuantos dias para desconectar, la ubicacion es perfecta, muy sencillo y facil para moverse por barcelona ya que tienes el metro y el tren al lado y la sagrada familia a 5min caminando. Algun punto malo seria que algunos platos estaban un poco sucios y tuvimos que volver a lavarlos y que el agua caliente va genial pero cuando te estas duchando o haciendo una bañera a los 10min o asi ya no sale mas agua caliente. En definitiva, apartamento muy recomendable, no se necesita mas, contento con nuestra estancia.

Checking in was thru a computer system in lobby. Spent about 20 minutes doing this and still needed a live person to assist. The lighting and heat were controlled by the card of key lock system which was a bit strange.
NO toiletries as mentioned in description. There was a half full soap container and 3 rolls toilet paper for 3 people for 4 days. We ran out and called to get some more and said we would have to get our own. There was also a huge construction project going outside our room and has been going on for some time and will take another year or two to complete the project.

Very good position - walking distance to Sagrada and metro station Encants - and once you are at the metro, Barcelona is very easy to visit. Also a lot of supermarkets and places to eat around. Quaiet & safe area.

It advertised 24-hr self check in, we got there at 11am and were told we couldnt check in until 1. Kind of messed up our plans. Our than that the apartment was nice. The dishes were still in the dishwasher and dirty microwave, but other than that it was nice

I just hope they can do a better cleaning on the linen. The sheets over the mattress cover are very clean, but they didn’t clean the mattress cover. It’s pretty dirty and disgusting to find “yellow stains” and hairs all over the mattress cover. The rest of the room is clean.

I am an American and was staying in downtown Barcelona for the first time. This was a perfect place for me. It was within a very walkable distance to many sites, including La Sagrada Familia and the Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar. Everything was clean, quiet, and very comfortable.

Complex self check-in - you must get door and booking ref.codes in advance or face a lengthy wait on the pavement. Minimal furniture and tiny second bedroom. Only welcome pack is a bottle of water. Beware of check-in problems
We have stayed here before and have always been happy. On this occasion however the check-in (which is automatic) turned into a nightmare. The machine could not realise that checking in after midnight should not be a problem - but, machine being machine did not understand it. Hence phone calls followed and finely, after waiting for have an hour, keys were delivered by taxi. Basically, if you plan to check in after midnight, do not select this accommodation.

The accommodation is not suitable for a long stay (we stayed three weeks), since the equipment is somewhat rudimentary. Checking in was very confusing. Found the right door, then buzzed to get in. Had not realised there was no Reception whatsoever - you have to enter your details into a computer screen in the hallway.

Could have been good if the basics were in place
First impression of the apartment was very good. Nice, big & reasonably well furnished. The kitchen had a good range of appliances, (including Dishwasher, Microwave & fridge/freezer). The bedroom & bathroom were both a good size & well fitted. I was a little less impressed when I realised there was no kettle and the pots, pans etc. were quite minimalist. I also had to unblock the wash hand basin before it was useable. After this things seemed OK. for a couple of days, until we did not get any room service at all. This meant that we had no clean towels, no replacement loo rolls, no bins emptied, and no room cleaning. There was no facility anywhere in the building to dispose of waste, and no where to replenish towels & loo rolls. After 6 days I saw a cleaner and asked her for some replacements, and she said that she would come and sort the room, which she did, and things returned to how they should of been. I do not think that I should have to tolerate dirty bins, towels & poor service in a hot country, especially when this was far from one of the cheapest accommodations in Barcelona. Overall we had a fantastic holiday would recommend Barcelona to anyone, but stay away from Apartaments Suites Independencia until they get there act together.

Not for Tourist Stay!
For tourist this is not the place to stay. It look forever to checkin and had to wait 30 min(thats a long time considering how far I walked and travel time you just want to check in as fast as possible) till someone came out to ask for help. And when the receptionist finally came out he said he would come to the room and check me in but never came back! And I had a balance of .72euros and gave him 1euro and never got change back.

Excellent accommodation, but there are some caveat
If you expect to see a receptionist, you will be disappointed. There is not one and the accommodation is not manned at all. So, be prepared to have to use the phone to get in touch - this includes check-in, which is self-check-in. The catch is that you need an entry code to access the self-check-in facility and we were not provided with one (booked through Expedia). Hence this is the first time you have to use the phone to get in touch and be given the code.
Since hotel staff is invisible (and non-existent, to some extent) it is difficult to rate this part of the service. We did meet a guy when we needed help with the keys (those famous magnetic ones, that stop working for no obvious reason) and he was very helpful and expedient.
The apartment is excellent and spacious. We had a very quiet room and that was pleasing as well. The double-bed we had was really pleasant, and, importantly very wide, 180-200 cm probably.
The only aspect that was annoying was the internet. Yes, it is wireless and it is free, but it was often very slow and not straightforward to connect to.
Considering the rate we paid, it was an extremely good deal overall.

The worst experience in barcelona
First of all the apartment is huge and room is nice. Location is OK. Now is the main point, service was very bad, no reception in 24 hours. Their system of check in was bad. They input my surname incorrect so I cannot find my reservation. No people will help you there, as just a phone there and the people are very impolite. The worst thing is our last night, the key card was not working, we cannot get in the building. We spend over 2hours at the door to keep talk to the reception by phone for how to solve it. They are very unhelpful and no body show up to take the responsiblly to help us. They promise us to that us late check out at noon. But their internal communication was so bad. They came before 11am and ask us to leave with very rude attitude. Anyway the apartment was nice, but service very bad. Good luck to everyone.

Since it was winter and in the low 40's at night, we had to leave the heat on all night long, which made it very dry and the fan blew on half the bed all night.
Living/ Dining Area - Furnished with your standard Ikea furnishings. Nice size.
Kitchen - Comes with most everything you need to prepare meals. Coffee maker is the one cup Italian style. Here is the thing that got me. No sponges, paper towels, salt, pepper, sugar, oil... nothing. You have to purchase EVERYTHING. I have stayed in many apartments throughout Europe and this is the first one that came with absolutely nothing. They do not sell singles of paper towels or sponges in the markets there, so you end up spending quite a bit for items you will never use. For the hotel to provide this it would cost very little to nothing for them per room as I know I had to buy a 6 pack of sponges for example and used one, leaving the rest.
Staff - Non-existent. We were there a little after 2 to check in and no-one was there. He finally showed up at nearly 4. We stayed for 8 nights and only saw the guy at the front desk once. Check out? Ha. I just left the keys and bailed. Oh, and he only speaks enough English to check you in.

Staff - Non-existent. We were there a little after 2 to check in and no-one was there. He finally showed up at nearly 4. We stayed for 8 nights and only saw the guy at the front desk once. Check out? Ha. I just left the keys and bailed. Oh, and he only speaks enough English to check you in.

We had a great apartment on the 4th floor with fully equipped kitchen. Amazing view at Jean Nouvel's building - Torre Agbar. We stayed only 2 nights - they changed our towels and the maid had the dishes done and cleaned the kitchen - which we didn't expect. We felt very safe walking at night in our neighborhood. It was easy to get around - there was a bus stop nearby that took us straight to the Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia was 10 min walk away. The only problem was that the metro closes at midnight and then you have to take a cab to get back. to the apartment, but the ride was pretty cheap since we walked all the way back to the top of La Gracia.

Modern, Clean Apartment near Sagrada Familia
Apartments Suites Independencia are modern apartment suites in the Eixample District. There are two metro stops very close to the apartment, lots of shops and restaurants, a huge mall and the Sagrada Familia is a 5 block walk. We had a two bedroom apartment. One room had a king and one twin beds. Very modern kitchen. We were only there two nights so did not really use it so couldn't say if it had everything you might need. Shower had excellent water pressure and lots of hot water. We had a terrace but the view was just the back of other apartment buildings. As mentioned we were barely in the room. We loved the automatic blackout shutters. We had our best night sleep there but they are dangerous if you don't set a clock. I woke at 9:40 and thought it was the middle of the night. There is a flat panel tv but no channels in English. It was the perfect set up for a family traveling with a child.

Some fixes needed.
The rooms was fine, the only thing I did not expect was having to furnish all the kitchen supplies. We had dish soap but had to purchase sponges, paper towels to was the dishes we dirtied. The maid simply threw all the utensils into the dishwasher. When we arrived, the frying pan still had crud from the last (?) guest and was impossible to use without cleaning it. I enjoyed the opportunity to cook for ourselves and stores were close by so shopping was a breeze after figuring out where we were in the neighborhood. The fruit and vegetable stand on the SW corner of the hotel block was fine and quite reasonable. The metro was two blocks away and is very efficient. One tip, we had problems with pickpockets on the metro, they got away empty handed but did attempt to knock my wife to the floor to cause a diversion. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. The gal who attempted to gain access to my fanny pack, worn in front stood beside me and reached around her large purse, her partner a guy tried to distract us by pushing my wife down to the floor of the metro. I did catch up with him and shook my finger in his face, he laughed and went about his business to find another victim. Yes I would return to Barcelona and this location was fine and the room fit our needs.

This is not a regular hotel with a lobby and full time clerk. There's a phone outside the entrance door to call a clerk, who shows up within a few minutes.

Will definitely stay here again
The apartment was fabulous! We will stay here again with no hesitation. The apartment was large and well appointed. In a great location just a block away from the metro, and surrounded by many food stores. Our only complaints were that the apartment could have been a little cleaner (the bathroom mostly) and there could have been some basics in the kitchen such as washing up liquid and a bottle opener (but we bought one and left it there). Also, it was a bit of a hassle to get and pay for wifi - which should be available and included in the cost of the apartment. If you want wifi, you have to call reception to arrange to meet someone in the lobby who will give you a pass code that's good for 24 hours and the cost is 4-5 Euros. So we suggest you buy as many 24 hours worth of wifi you'll want to have when you check in so you won't have to go out of your way later. (the pass codes for 24 hours are different and the time only starts when you first use the pass code) As an alternative there is at least one wifi cafe nearby.

Hard to get no smoking room
This is the second time I stayed at this hotel recently. The first time they gave me a smoking room and insisted they did not have a no smoking room. I kept complaining and they miraculously came up with a no smoking room. They told me I didn´t ask for a no smoking room which was wrong. I told them I was coming back the next week, and I wanted a no smoking room. The clerk said fine. When I returned for this stay, the same guy (there are only two and they are both macho and not customer-oriented) gives me the same smoking room. I told him that was a smoking room, and he insisted it was not and told me to go look at it. Of course, it was the same smokngroom. Again he came up with another room. That being said, the apartment is large and comfortable if you can deal with the jerks at the desk (who are seldom there but come around 5 to 10 minutes later when you call them).

Close to Gaudi...
This hotel room was more than we had hoped for- it was a HUGE 4 bedroom (although two of the bedrooms were empty),2 bathroom apartment with kitchen and balcony. I was pretty happy with the location, as my main attraction in Barcelona is to the works of Gaudi. Very close to La Sagrada Familia, and within decent walking range of Park Guell, although riding a train might be more economical, time wise. It was very easy to find, also. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was it's low price, closeness to the airport rail system, the fact that it had a front desk, and also it had the number of bedrooms we needed. The TV had cable channels, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pans. I was very satisfied.

Nice room, lousy service, poor maintenance
There is no one at the front desk most of the time, and there are no phones in the room. If there is a problem, one has to go downstairs and call the attendant and wait for him to come. Our water faucet in the kitchen literally flew off when I turned it on and got the floor and kitchen soaked. We used the bath mat to clean it up (no housekeeping in the evening), and when the attendant came, he said he couldn´t give us another one. Likewise, the attendants didn´t know much about the surrounding area. That being said, the apartment is quite nice. There are 2 bedrooms, a large kitchen with big fridge, and a living room. The bed is wide (2 twins put together)but short. The kitchen didn´t have a kettle to boil water in, a toaster, or kitchen towels. There is also no clock in the room. So if you value size and want to save money by eating in, this is a good place provided you don´t need more than basic local information and basic housekeeping service. It is close to 2 different metro lines which is convenient, including the one from the airport.

Good location safe and convenient reasonably priced too
This apartment block is close to two tube stops and all amenities including supermarkets, tapas bars, internet cafe, wine sales etc. Having a kitchen apartment style accom beats hotels hands down - just shop up at the supermarket and eat and drink cheap for your whole stay. A quick email to the hotel group allowed me to check in late 22.20 hrs and it was no problem despite me having no spanish. Rooms were clean and and bathroom spacious and clean - all cleaned and serviced everyday by gracious and courteous cleaning staff. Balcony (non street) was quiet and looked inward onto the rest of the community. I loved the place and we had no probs there except there was no kettle in our apartment. Very good amenities nearby and you can walk to beach, Las Ramblas, Sagrada Familia, Old City etc no worries in less than 30 mins - can get there even easier with tube or tram. A hoot. We loved it!

Great if you don't need service
This \"hotel\" was in an apartment building with no front desk or bellmen. If we needed anything, we had to go to the intercom in front of the building and talk to the manager. This was inconvenient but it never took more than five minutes for him to show up. The apartment was great but the coffee pots still had grounds from someone else in them. Other than that the place was clean and we had daily maid service. We were two blocks from the Metro which was very convenient. The neighborhood was quiet and residential but within walking distance of the Sagrada Familia. I would recommend the hotel for families that won't need too much help navigating the city.
