The hotel is under some construction, so their reception area is in the restaurant which you have to walk through to get to your room so not the hotel‘s fault because they are doing renos but was kind of odd. The property hotel is clean in the rooms, nothing special just a bed. Be aware the bathroom tub shower combination because it was very slippery and my husband fell. It is a fabulous spot for walking right by las Romblas street , which is also under construction.

Amazing stay.

The staff was SO NICE. They gave me a big beautiful room. And of course it’s old inside the hallways but that’s to be expected with staying in the Gothic. The bed was comfortable and clean, they let me stay an extra hour when I was supossed to check out and held my luggage. Overall I will be back and am very happy I picked this spot. The area is super touristy but it’s perfect if you are new to vacationing here.

Hotel Condal is the perfect location for a long weekend stay. Literally in the centre of the old town Barcelona, 2 mins walk to the metro and La Rambla. Helpful staff at reception. Having some work done so will probably be even better once that is completed. Would go again for sure.

The hotel is closed to the Rambla area, but I am not impressed, old & the room is very small, the bath tub is kinda old & high, be careful easy to fall when you step in & out, the air conditioning control by the front desk, I have to call them to turn it on, then it’s auto turn off at 2 a.m, I have to call them again, my window clock is broken, can’t clock….

I booked this hotel because of locaion and it is centrally located. However, be aware that some transportation do not stop at the hotel front door.
It is located on a narrow side street off Ramblas. In the early hour or late at night, small cars or taxi could come to the front. But, I booked a shared transfer from the airport and the driver of the van refused to come into Ramblas. There is nothing wrong with the hotel but you must confirm with the transfer company if they would drop off on Ramblas which is only 100 feet away.
The room is small but has everything I need. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English.

Very Bad Experience

Payed a lot of money to stay at a hotel and was completely dissapointed. I got to the hotel and the AC wasnt working properly. Then found out the beds were two twin beds made into one using sheets to connect them. I was sleeping next to the \"cleaning office\" where the cleaning ladies were loud all morning long. They should be mindful of the people sleeping at 7-8 am. Throughout my stay , water was dripping from the bathroom ceiling. I was scared given the water was falling very close to the electric output where the hair blower was connected. The only good thing about this hotel are the front desk people who were very nice. Other hotels probably seemed like better options for the money. Never stayin here again.

The location is great but rooms are absolutely tiny, not even space to open up a suitcase. So the place is great if you are only planning to sleep there and spend tour time out and about. Spending time in the room is uncomfortable due to the room sizes.

This hotel is not as advertised. The rooms were extremely dirty. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable. We had to ask is switch rooms as the bathroom smelled extremely bad and the water was running all night long. The noise coming from outside made it impossible to sleep and on every floor people were smoking.Therefore the smell was never ending. The only positives where that the location was good and we were able to check in early free of charge on our first day.

Good location for centre of Barcelona and very close to metro station making it easy to reach hotel and use as base for travelling. Breakfast available at reasonable rate with basic choice of breads pastries boxed cereals and coffee, cheese meat and yoghurt. Room was clean and reasonably quiet at night considering it was facing the street . There was small room safe large enough for iPad and other valuables but not a laptop. . TV in room though I didn’t use as no English Channels and reception of those available was variable . Staff were pleasant and helpful. Front doors tend to be locked after about 10pm and you have to ring bell for entry. The hotel is on side street very close to Las Ramblas and does attract homeless people begging but it doesn’t feel unsafe. If you just want a bed for a few nights to explore Barcelona and beyond then this is a suitable choice, but if you want more such as pool or restaurant then this isn’t fir you.

Location was convenient near La Rambla and the metro. However, the entrance was in an alley way with homeless people panhandling and a drug dealer who was there all the time (probably just weed but it was not very discrete). The staff was fine, we didn't interact much. We took the breakfast one day and it was ok for 5 euro but nothing special. Better food and deals were found on the street. There was construction going on in the center of the hotel right outside of our door so every morning there was hammering, etc. They don't start until 10am but that is early if you are on Spanish time. We didn't know about this when we booked and we called to cancel at one point and they did let us but they also didn't mention the construction going on. Our double room was 2 twin beds pushed together with a light switch in the middle. If you rolled around at night you would hit the switch on accident and turn the lights on in the room. This happened every night for us. The beds were not tied together so sometimes you would fall in the gap. It was a lot of money for a very mediocre hotel. I guess it is just the location that they can ask for that price. The bathroom had a bathtub which was nice but it was a very big awkward step to get in and out. It was fine for us but I would be worried if I was disabled or elderly. The air conditioning worked great!

I was shocked when I came to the room. Absolutely terrible, noisy from the other guests and a really disgusting bathroom, I didn’t even wanted to use the shower, that is how creepy it was. Really not worth the price, and I reccomend to never stay at this awful place!

Rooms are a touch small and spare. It was really hot so I turned the AC on and it ac5blew even more hot air into the room. Apparently they don't turn on the AC in the hotel until summer. But I opened the windows and when I got back a few hour later it was very comfortable. Staff are helpful and friendly a d the location is amazing, right off La Rambla! Would definitely stay here again!

Set in the Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas you could get to where you wanted on foot. We found 2 great bars either side of the hotel.

Fantastically located steps from La Rambla with a friendly helpful staff. The only problem is a lack of soundproofing. The plumbing is noisy, every footstep on the floor above can be heard, and chairs that have no pads on the feet sound like trombones as they are dragged across the floor. I used my earplugs but some inconsiderate guests came in at 1:30 AM Sunday to their room above and talked loudly until 3. They ignored requests for quiet. I was exhausted the next day.

The place was a major disappointment! It took over three hours just to locate the place (site said parking was available nearby). That would have been ok but you cannot drive to the Hotel. And the address we were given was wrong. Our gps kept us going around in circles(can't drive there). Finally, in desperation we just put the car in a garage and walked, with our luggage about a mile and a half, having to try to get directions as we went. The staff was friendly. The room hasn't been updated in years, there is a fairly strong sewer oder, flies and mosquitoes in the room. The rooms are small and walls are paper thin. We spent two nights without much sleep as our neighbors made noise until the wee hrs of the morning, including moving furniture around. The breakfast (extra 5 euros/person) is only cold, little variety of offerings and, without a coffee maker in any room, you can't even get a cup of Java before 8 am without leaving the hotel. Had we known any of this we would never have booked the place (yep took the cheaper, non cancel rate).. shame on me.

The location of the hotel was excellent. Just off Las Ramblas and close to Plaza Catalunya and the Port, which was very handy for the metro, hop on hop off buses, information centre and airport bus. The room was clean and comfortable but looking a little worn, especially the bathroom. Also, the step down from the shower/bath was very high and I would not recommend for elderly people or those with difficulty with movement. There was no bar fridge in the room which was disappointing in a warmer climate such as Spain.

Nice location for Gothic Quarter walking

Great location in the Gothic area which made it easy to pop in and out of the hotel to wander the local city streets. This hotel is good for someone that can walk or bike around the town without a car. I loved biking around the town and they let me keep the bike overnight in the inner courtyard. I have no idea where you would park if you had a car as it is on a narrow pedestrian only part of the town, but that was not an issue for me.

Good hotel, don't expect anything fancy though, it's a comfortable bed and a clean room, though a little small, but it doesn't really matter if you're going to explore the city and you're just using the hotel for a place to sleep, you won't be spending much time in your room anyway. The location is excellent it's right off las ramblas, and a 20 min walk to the beach, lots of restaurants/coffee shops/stores reallh closeby and a bar right next door called traveller's bar which has good drinks. All in all good experience, AC was working and could be set to cold temperatures which is not what I expected since I saw other reviews for the hotel that said otherwise.

Great location, clean hotel

Located just off La Rambla, this hotel is in a perfect location - cafes, restuarants, transport, historic sites...all very nearby. Getting from the airport, i suggest the aerobus - really easy and it was a fast ride in and out of the city (and no train station stairs) - it stops at Placa de Catalunya and from there its just a 10min walk straight down La Rambla (busy and safe till late into the evening). Hotel was very clean, quiet and tidy. Bed comfortable and staff very friendly/helpful. But the walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the room next door ( I could hear my neighbours talking like they were in my room, but luckily they were quiet during the night) - but maybe this is typical for many rooms in spain. They also have a ceiling light which does not go completely off (like a night light) - again, it didnt keep me awake but was a bit odd. Dont eat on La Rambla (totally touristy and higher prices...paid double for a coffee !) - there are so many great places to eat in the narrow lanes throughout the gothic quarter. Overall i would recommend this hotel (just take earplugs and pull the duvet over your eyes if the light bothers you!) as its in such a great location and i think its great value for money.

The hotel is in a fantastic location that is in the centre of Barcelona's Last Ramblas, Gothic Quarter, La Boqueria and short walks away from the seafront and impressive cathedrals.

The hotel itself is ok, clean with the basics like ensuite bathrooms, safes beds, linen etc. Breakfast can be included but for the same price you can go to any local cafe or even chain restaurants nearby for a much better quality meal. Staff were friendly and incredibly helpful - they helped with supplying a power adapter for UK electricals.

Visited in the winter but the rooms were oddly overheated at night and the air-conditioning didn't help much. Had to leave the windows open, but with streets busy way past midnight it wasnt ideal.

However overall good for the price, but could do with some improvements.
