The room was great, good bed and good size bathroom. This hotel is minutes away from the Old Town. Car parking is available for a fee. And the breakfast is worth the money- very good for someone who isn’t a breakfast gal.

Location was excellent a few steps from the main square and the park. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was well laid out with lots of options. There was some building work constructing a new entrance for the hotel but we didn't hear any noise from this. A great and comfortable stay.

No way on God’s green earth is this a 4-star hotel maybe a 2 on a very generous day!
It’s basically a fancy youth hostel they even provide plastic cups in the room for that authentic “budget chic” vibe.
The rooms are like being sent down a mine dark and gloomy. We’d requested a bathtub (doctor’s orders for my ankle) and were told it was guaranteed. Guess what? Just a shower! A whole painful disappointment, literally.
Apparently, they “tried calling me all Saturday” to say another room was available… yet my call log says otherwise.
To be fair, the lovely female receptionist did her best to help. But the male receptionist? Oh dear. His comments about us being “from the UK” didn’t exactly warm our Irish hearts — big no-no there, lad!
Over €200 a night for this? RIP-OFF BIG TIME! I was promised a refund but nothing just more like lie the phone calls , bath tub and the paid bot reviews
And the icing on the cake? The smell. It hits you the second you walk in — possibly wafting in from the portable loo outside. Yikes! Even wakes you up in the morning.
Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. Girona is a lovely town just pick a hotel where you can actually enjoy your weekend instead of surviving it.

OK but don’t pay for “Gran” Ultonia

There are two hotels here - the 4 star ‘Gran’ Ultonia and the regular 3 star Ultonia. I paid for a Gran Ultonia room but realised after the first night I’d been placed in a regular Ultonia room. Not the end of the world but no real point in paying for the nicer hotel and room since it seems you can end up in a more basic room anyway.

There is nothing wrong with the property - it is conveniently located and the staff are very professional.

Most simply put the building is aging, the pipes are old and despite a light facelift the property feels dated and the plumbing a bit smelly and the toilets a little janky.

The rooms are clean-ish, the air conditioning works very well, the showers have great water pressure and the price is fair. It’s a no frills hotel within walking distance of shops and restaurants as well as the lovely park Devesa nearby.

One thing to mention - the one site parking is convenient but very tightly configured underground and those with non-compact cars should think twice.

The hotel is basically opposite the entrance to the old town. The staff are always reaaly efficient and pleasant. The rooms are nice and if you have either a car ir a bycle rhe garage under the hitel is exceptional

Really enjoyed our stay at the Ultonia. Excellent location for the Cathedral and Old Town area of Girona. Quick and easy from the bus and train station. Rooftop bar was fantastic, great cocktails and excellent views. All staff were super friendly and accommodating- helping us to get a taxi to the airport very quickly!

My solo trip before flying back home the next day.

I had a very nice stay at the Gran Ultonia despite major
work being carried out on the property. My room was large and spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a very good shower with excellent pressure. View from the window not so good!
The breakfast was adequate with a lot of choice. My daughter and I had a drink on the roof terrace which was a nice extra to the hotel amenities.

Great hotel in terrific location

I’m so glad I stayed here. The location was superb. In middle of town but easy to get to train station or get a cab. Even solo as a woman I was able to go out at night and walk through the town to restaurants and shops safely. The receptionists were great. Very helpful in navigating thru town. The room was spacious. Lots of room to spread out your things. Shower was really good. Nice breakfast buffet. Rooftop bar was great.

Ideally situated for short walk to old town (5 mins) one way and main shopping area the other. Walkable to rail / bus station (10 min on foot) and quick access to motorway for short journey to airport (20 mins/ 35 euros by taxi) .
Rooms basic but very clean, powerful shower, comfortable beds and quiet. Efficient air conditioning. Lovely roof terrace for drinks and tapas.

A fantastic stay! Staff were extremely helpful, pointing out historical sights to see. The hotel was very clean, with a lovely rooftop bar area with amazing views. The added bonus of a car park facility, albeit a very tight squeeze.

Great Location for Girona Visit

Location is great, just a couple of minutes walk from the Pl Independencia and then across the river into the Old Town / Jewish Quarter. We booked one of the 4 star rooms and it was very spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and a great shower. TV has some international channels. Mini bar was reasonably priced.
Great rooftop bar which is open late. The only minor letdown in the room was nescafe coffee sachets and plastic mugs!

Pity there was no kettle for coffee and tea making (but this was supplied quickly when we asked for that). Safe luggage store room. Did not try breakfast or other food at the hotel.

Wonderful stay for two nights in Girona. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. A shout out to Glenda at the front desk. Breakfast was wonderful. Room was spacious and well appointed. The location was ideal with just 5 mins walk to the old city and 10 mins walk to the train station.
The only criticism that I have is not so much for the hotel itself but for the hospitality industry in general in Spain. The AC was not on and granted that it was February but people coming from cold area feel hot even at lowish temperatures, so it would have been nice to be able to control the air conditioning.
All in all, highly recommended and we would stay here again.

Wedding Anniversary Weekend

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was a good size and I had requested a bath which we got. Roof top bar was lovely. The breakfast was really good. Local produce and lots of organic items. Had very good variety e.g, 8 different chesses and juices (never seen pomegranate juice in a hotel before). The position was very good with stroll into the old town. Would recommend the hotel and also would recommend Girona.

Good value and great location

Very well appointed hotel in a great area for visiting central and old town Girona. Very helpful staff. Good value for money. Breakfast buffet everything you’d expect and good sections for special dietary needs. Car park is convenient and secure but has some pretty tight bends which may be difficult in a larger car. We found the hotel a little hard to locate on google maps when approaching in a car.

Hotel is ideally located close to shops and restaurants. Hotel is clean and staff are friendly and polite(english speaking aswell). Room as expected for business trip, shower was amazing and air con a bonus!! Breakfast is lovely with plenty of options to suit all requirements. Parking onsite is a bonus but highly recommend a small car if used, the lower you go the tighter the turns. The highlight of the hotel is the terrace bar. The views, fair priced drink and the furniture/decor really make this a perfect spot late afternoon or evening. Definitely will return!
