The room I felt wasn’t very clean especially the bathroom we were finding previous persons hair in there, there was also no handwash, the mattress was so uncomfortable it dipped into the middle and was very hard, we also paid for the spa which is very nice in need of an upgrade so many things broken and the description on the website is very different to when your there, there was meant to be a plunge pool, there wasn’t it had been replaced with a sauna which wasn’t working

room was clean but a bit on the small side. the bathroom whilst adequate and did have a rubber mat to put inside the bath, there was no handle to hold onto getting into and out of the bath and nowhere to put gels etc whilst showering.

staff friendly and helpful. However the literature in the room states 'ask reception about local walks' but no one on reception knew about this when asked!

Lovely building in great condition and a really beautiful Victorian style courtyard which would be amazing in summer. Room are fine but could do with a refresh. The bathroom light was really dim and therefore felt a bit budget. Restaurant is very nice and the carvery was good as was breakfast.

If you want a relaxed break this is a great hotel to book, just come back from a weekend away. What a joy to stay somewhere with such amazing staff. Room was lovely very clean comfy bed. Great breakfast we also dined in the restaurant and bar which was really nice.
Had a three hour spa to finish off our stay. Will definitely be back.

Had to use the overflow due to conference as we noticed on arrival not a problem,

First walked in we were greeted no issues had some questions which the receptionist knew the answers

Booked through Expedia don’t know if this is why I had to fill out a form but no issues there,
The room was nice and clean as you would expect ironing board/iron in cupboard with a trouser press, kettle and nespresso machine tea coffee and pods etc were all topped up, bottle of water and what I thought was cordial turned out to be red wine upon opening it which is a nice touch, view outside the room was the bandstand with water feature again it was nice.

Spa treatment we had the 3 hour package everything clean we had use of hot tubs, 2 saunas, foot spa, a steam room a snooze room also we chose the facial as our treatment and my face and never been so soft.

Restraunt we were adviced that there would be a wait for food due to a conference on, not an issue only waited around 10 minutes, food is nice after we went to the bar but the only thing is about drinks there is no drink menu or cocktail menu so we didn’t know what was and wasn’t available.

Breakfast was included in our room and it was a buffet style which was good

We stayed only one evening. Young woman on reception was friendly and smiley. Ordinary double room was very clean with a lovely soft comfy bed.
We had the carvery in the evening which was wonderful. Amazing value for money. Breakfast was delicious with friendly helpful staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Our thanks to all staff for a happy stay.

The room, though clean, was cold and draughty.
I had notified the hotel by email and telephone that I would be arriving late, but when I arrived the door was locked and I had not received any instructions on how to get in. Fortunately, I still had the telephone number on my phone and the night manager let me in quickly. I feel that a clear instruction would have avoided the brief concern of not being able to enter.

Staff were attentive and did offer to warm my dinner up. Think the chef could tske actions to improve food by cooking vegetables in smaller amounts to maintain freshness. Dining toom rather chilly.

A pleasant overnight stay

The Hotel was bright and spacious and apparently well maintained. It had a mix of the modern but also some traditional wooden panelling in the Bar. Our room was clean, tidy and very comfortable and the toilet was spacious and well set out. The Staff were pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed an excellent and substantial dinner on our one and only evening in the Hotel. The next morning we had a very nice breakfast which included buffets for both hot and cold food - again plenty choice.

We felt considering what had been on offer the meals were very good value. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back some day.

Room was really small with way to much big furniture. It had a sloping roof which made it even smaller. Window overlooked a tree. Place as a whole was just so old fashioned and the food was very mediocre. Reception lady was lovely but restaurant staff just lacked any warmth

Longer opening hours for the Spa.

Don't get me wrong, what a fantastic stay, really tranquil, the Staff are fantastic and really pleasant. Biggest problem for me was not been able to use the spa facilities because they we're fully booked and generally are, so if you're booking to use the spa, check they're available before you book, and even more disappointing is if there's 8 of you that are prepared to part with £45 they will open it up for you in the late evening. Why can't they do this full stop like most hotels, its like the people who stay at the hotel will not get a chance to use the spa, otherwise fantastic place to stay.

Booked for no reason since the spa doesn’t work.

Booked this hotel for use of the spa, that was the whole point of staying here. The hotel staff never once reached out to notify their spa was closed for maintenance during our stay. We weren’t told until we asked about using it. On top of that the price of our stay was not reduced or compensated for the hotel amenities not being usuable. Really put a damper on our engagement trip.

Dreadful hotel notnworth the money

The receptionist was rude. Charged £30 per do per night which wasnt clear on hotels.com at all. The room was tiny and hot with sloping ceilings which we kpt bamging our heads on. No milk for drinks or drinking glasses. The beds were very uncomfortable and so were the pillows. Would not recommend staying here at all.

It’s ok for the orice

It was ok for price. I was disappointed about the fact that we had to book and pay for spa separately even though this hotel is spa hotel. Usually I expect spa is attached to a price I pay initially. The quality of spa was not brilliant.

Great stay

We got married here nearly 25 years ago - it was lovely to return and still feel it was the same hotel - everything the same but refreshed and not outdated at all. Rooms quiet and comfortable, bar welcoming and breakfast was fantastic

Lovely relaxing break

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing break at this hotel with friendly professional staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant facilities very good. Weather not quite good enough for us to take advantage of the various outdoor seating areas which, nonetheless, did look very inviting.

Not a 4Star hotel, not even close

When you’re cutlery sticks to the breakfast table you know you’ve booked the wrong hotel, this is said to be 4Star but needs reviewed! In general a really nice frontage but underneath needs a revamp, old tables that have little to none of the original surface or bring wiped with incorrect solutions, juice glasses that have seen the end of their days and generally not the cleanest of cutlery, breakfast was good. Room was nice but look closer and it’s an old throw on a couch and even it needed washing, bathroom, not the greatest seat I’ve had, and a really nice mirror spoiled by the tarnished corrosion on the chrome fittings, and if it’s room 29 take stepladders to hang up your clothes, it must have been a giant that fitted that clothes rail! I won’t be back.

Stayed here quite a few times, Beautiful hotel. Excellent spa. Also handy as a base for Great Yorkshire Show., Knaresborough and Wetherby.
We are usually accommodated upstairs, but this time we were in a small room downstairs. Bit cramped but standard still good, Minor negatives: insufficient tea bags even after we requested more; no replacement liner in the bathroom bin.
Wonderful ambience in the Courtyard restaurant. The carvery was okay but the fish alternative and vegetables weren't warm. Enjoyed a La Carte on second evening much more. Always an excellent choice for breakfast. Bar well stocked, but suggest attention is paid to glass washing as on both evenings my drink was served in dirty glasses so had to return.
All staff were lovely - polite and friendly. service with a smile. Will be returning.

Punching above it's weight.

Hotel lacks soul. Has seen better days. Carvery is below parr and food cold. Much better to order from the menu. Staff vary from not interested to trying very hard to please. Room was below the expected standard. Price wise it is punching above it's weight in all departments. Disappointing.

Easy and convenient for one night on route to Scotland. The staff are friendly and welcoming and checking in was quick and easy. The room was clean but the television didn’t work. When arriving at 22.00 on a Sunday didn’t think it was worth looking into. But did say on checking out. Breakfast was good and again staff very helpful.

The hotel was in an ideal location for York, Harrogate and the start of the Dale's. In my opinion the food was not up to scratch for a 4Star Hotel, not very hot and veg were very watery. Staff were lovely.

Hotel looked lovely but the beds were really lumpy and the bottom sheet wasn't fitted and wasn't large enough to tuck under the mattress so came off when we were sleeping.
The carvery was lovely in the evening. The breakfast was fairly standard buffet choice but I would have liked more choice of fresh fruit.

Good but not for disabled

The hotel AND spa did not cater for limited mobility. An 85 and 91 year old had extreme difficulty climbing stairs to room and spa and no alternative or assistance was offered. However, other than that everything was good. All staff were lovely and evening meal and breakfast were good.

Arrived 16th July – Departed 20th July – 4 nights stay.
1st night:- There was a constant humming/vibration noise in our room, no. 15. At 22.30 hrs I went down to reception and complained. The person I spoke to said it had something to do with the boilers and that it would go off shortly. It didn’t go off until 23.30 hrs and came back on at 06.00 hrs the next day.
Went down to reception and asked them to move us because of the noise. This they did without hesitation.
2nd night:- We were moved to room 20, far away from the original noise/vibration. However, after 22.00 hrs that night we periodically had a tapping / scrapping noise emanating from the water pipes running through our room. This noise started on and off 4 times through the night.
3rd & 4Th nights we were again disturbed by the same problem from the pipes.
Did not have one good night’s sleep the whole stay.
Also, the one light in the bathroom was so dim, that it wasn’t possible to shave properly and the extraction fan didn’t work either.

Usual excellent standard. Menu needs attention!

We have stayed at The Bridge several times and never been disappointed with the service, friendliness of all staff and the hotel itself. The only downside this time was the menu - not the food as this was up to the usual high standard, but the actual printed menu! The font was so small and barely contrasted with the background colour making it very difficult to read - especially in the low lighting of the restaurant. My husband is allergic to cheese so it is imperative that he is able to read the contents of the dishes on offer. However, the restaurant staff were very helpful in this matter and we enjoyed a lovely meal.

Smells unpleasant

Hotel very tired. Carpets smelt bad - gym locker rooms spring to mind. Bathroom in room stank of mould and had black mould around rim of bath. Bed so soft that it dipped heavily in middle. Did not stay as aromas so unpleasant. Staff member on duty was charming and full refund received. It was an expensive hotel for what it was. Uninviting.

Only disappointment was not being allocated a room with a sea view for three adults as booked and paid for. The hotel reception manager made out that she had given us an upgrade to a more spacious room for three adults. This was in another building away from the main hotel. When I said we booked and paid for a sea view and would therefore like that she reluctantly checked again but said no sea view rooms were available. She tried to make out that what we had booked was not suitable for three adults but it is clearly available to book. Shame as it was the only negative!

Nice hotel, will visit again.

This is our third visit to the hotel, we liked it so much that we purchased 2 gift vouchers to give as presents for our 2 sons and their partners. On our last visit (early May 2023] we were upgraded to a suite, very nice, thank you.
On our last 2 visits we used a hotel offer where a package was offered of 3 hour Spa, evening carvery, afternoon tea and breakfast.
If we are being picky, our only minor complaint was for the carvery vegetables, they were over cooked and the Yorkshire puddings chewy.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Once again thank you for a very pleasant stay.

From the outside the hotel looks lovely, dinner service was good and food tasty. However, waited 15 minutes for check-in and had communicated with hotel before regarding an upgrade and heard nothing back. The room was tired, loads of cobwebs so didn't look like it had been dusted effectively. Two-night stay and I requested clean towels twice but never received them. The bed was incredibly soft, to the point where you just sunk into it in a bad way. The pillows were completely the opposite and hard as a rock. When we went to take a shower, if the person in the room next to you was using the bathroom facilities, you had no water or water pressure - this was not pleasurable experience.

Nice quiet stay.

Beds comfortable, shower worked, but no separate shower 😕 even though bathroom was big enough for one. Room smaller than I expected and very hot. Hairdryer fixed but no where near a mirror, and hard to keep holding to work it, (there was a very small portable mirror). In general the hotel is tired looking. Staff all friendly, from reception to restaurant and bar staff and housekeeping.
