Excellent breakfast with wonderful views from the restaurant. Staff at breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
Check in was painful. Only 2 people in the queue but it seemed to take forever. I’d checked in online the day before but it didn’t seem to speed up the process.
Only 1 member of staff on reception at check in. You’d think there would be a couple of people just for that hour or so.
Hotel was very nice, room was clean and comfortable. Location is perfect. We would stay again.

The hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was quite big with a nice walk-in shower and small sitting area. Sadly, we were given a room in the middle of the hotel with no natural light.

The window was boarded and blacked out and could not be opened due to its position in the hotel next to the lift.
Not being able to open a window for fresh air (during the current heatwave), was tricky. We had two small fans which sadly did not help the situation. Ask for a room at the front or back of the hotel if you do want to feel claustrophobic!

Nice hotel and very central for looking around Harrogate. Parking was £15.00 for 24hrs which I personally felt was a little expensive given that you are staying overnight in the property. Great restaurant and very worth going to. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was quiet until they started to empty the bins at 6am.

Really lovely overnight stay in a room with a balcony. Convenient location in the centre of Harrogate. The room was clean and nicely decorated, with gorgeous high ceilings and a comfortable king size bed. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar in the evening and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely visit again. The large balcony was a definate bonus, with a nice seating area to look out over the park with a glass of wine!

Disappointing. Parking is very tight. I had to change rooms as it was like an oven despite a portable air-conditioning unit and 2 large fans bing on when I arrived. Couldn't leave the window open as it was a basement room and kitchen staff were smoking outside and the security lights were on outside all night. I managed a few hours sleep. Luckily they changed my room the following day.

There was nothing unique about this hotel, but it was clean and the staff were friendly.
I would warn people with disabilities about access issues at the front of the property, there are several stairs to climb and no ramp.
To be fair, if you can arrive/enter at the back entrance, it's mainly on the flat, so I'd recommend this as the best option.
There are two lifts in the hotel to help you reach your room, although you may have to wait a while as both can be busy, indeed one of the lifts is limited to carrying just two passengers at a time.
Prices at the bar are not what you'd class as competitive, a bit overpriced in my opinion as is the breakfast.
Do ask about what's the best time/place to book the breakfast as the price can vary which I found somewhat odd.
Overall, it was fine, nothing exceptional, quite close to amenities and very clean, but I'm guessing there's better in this nice town, you'd just have to seek out better reviews than mine.Apologies.

We had a lovely stay at the Yorkshire,the restaurant was excellent.
We were in room 105 and sadly the noise from a kitchen door constantly opening and banging shut every 20 seconds or so directly beneath us meant it was very noisy until about midnight. The hotel needs to employ a joiner to correct the the door, also the room becomes extremely warm as a result of it's location.
Saying that we enjoyed our stay.

Single room small but clean. Fine for one night. Large shower room, shower excellent. Some parts needed a redec. Bit noisy in the morning as onlt single glazed due to heritage of building. Bar good, travelling companion was impressed with Sunday Roast.

Excellent location and value.

Overnight parking cheaper elsewhere.

The Yorkshire is very impressive with lovely decor and friendly staff. We were allocated room 111 and we opened the door and were hit by a wall of heat. We thought we’d turn the radiators down but they were already off. There was no chance of opening a window as there were no windows in the room! There were 3 fans in the room but they circulated hot air. We went to reception to ask for a room change but the hotel was full. We spent a very uncomfortable night. I dread to think what it would be like in hot weather as it was 16 degrees and raining. When we checked out, one of the staff said they wouldn’t have coped without windows. It is unacceptable to keep renting out rooms that are really not to a standard people would reasonably expect.

No air con in rooms so they get very warm.
We were above the pub entrance area on the 2nd floor so noisy around 7am.
In a great location for the centre of Harrogate and would stay again and ask for a room on the front where it’s likely to be less noisy

Hotel fab, staff and service excellent - disappointed in the pickled sprout restaurant, a very heavy unseasonal menu for our liking, sharers hard to share unless you both like the same thing - not enough balance, starters missing meat options and a burger including chips was no veggie options - I’m not veggie) which, they may be fab quality, but need to recognise the market isn’t always captive

I would have given this hotel 5 stars because the staff were genuinely lovely and provided great service. The location was beautiful and the hotel itself was very nice.

However…

The shower pressure was extremely poor — the water flow was very weak. I was told that this is just how it is, which was disappointing.

The parking situation also wasn’t ideal. Even though there are electric vehicle charging bays, non‑electric cars were allowed to park in them. As a result, I had to park in a regular bay and couldn’t charge my car. I was told it’s on a first‑come, first‑served basis, which makes me wonder why the EV chargers are there if they aren’t reserved for EVs

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. It was very busy due to a wedding and a party but neither intruded on other guests. The hotel public areas and bedrooms were spotless; the housekeeping staff deserve congratulations, not only for their efficiency but also for their courtesy and pleasantness. Breakfast was excellent. Parking a bit of a nightmare; very little of it and rather a squeeze.

Absolutely loved our stay. Check-in was simple, staff were helpful and the hotel has clearly been renovated recently to a high standard. Breakfast was up there with the best I've ever had in a hotel. Also cracking view over the town and beyond from the Skybar in which the breakfast was served. We also ate on the Sunday evening in the Pickled Sprout restaurant. Again, everything we ate we really enjoyed. (Would love the French Onion soup recipe. It was the best I've ever had).

The location of the hotel cannot be faulted. The town centre is more or less on your doorstep and Betty's is literally across the road. We'll be back in Harrogate as soon as we can and have no doubt that we'll book The Yorkshire Hotel on our return.

Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay memorable and enjoyable.

A lovely property in a good location, comfortable, clean if a little dated in some places, breakfasts very good and the restaurant is very good.
Great location for train and bus station and the town centre and lovely views over the town, would highly reccomend to anyone.
Also very handy parking if you get there soon enough.

The room was clean, however the bed was rock hard, the pillows were flat, the shower had low pressure and was very slow. However, the main issue during our stay were the functions held on both nights. We were in a room directly below the toilets of the function room. It was very noisy with the constant noise of the toilet flushing, loud noise from heels clonking on the wooden toilet floor and doors banging. Then at the end of the night people walking down the stair and singing/talking loudly outside our room.

I would suggest people from the function should be placed in rooms near the function hall. I was extemely dissapointed that this was not the case and as we were up early making the most of of our 2 days stay with a packed itinery; being kept awake by the functions impacted the enjoyment of our break in Yorkshire.

Worst night in a hotel room for over twenty years. Stayed here several times before and always been fine but this room was awful. Banging through the floor until after midnight which started again around 5.00am. Stupidly hot room even with windows open and fans on so couldn’t rest. Smelled of food on arrival and torn bed linen (staff said they would change this but they didn’t). If I hadn’t prepaid I wouldn’t have paid for it - truly awful! Make sure you get a room that’s not over the kitchens otherwise you might as well sleep in the car. Had to check into another hotel for a few hours sleep before driving home - that’s how bad it was. There is a huge selection of hotels in Harrogate and this is just unacceptable.

I have stayed at the Yorkshire Hotel 4 times and always enjoyed it.This time it was ruined by the young boy on reception called joe.we checked in on Wednesday,great.Room was clean and tidy.Had a superb meal in the restaurant,then went to bed.The following morning we got up to cold showers.i rang down but phone just rang so I went down to the reception(phone still ringing) to find Joe playing on his phone instead of answering my call.i explained the situation and he said" there wasn't much he could do but would send the maid up.The maid was very nice and said sorry.we had cold showers then breakfast when leaving ,Joe said there not he could do(still no sorry) and scribbled down a e mail address then as I pulled away charged me for parking. Ruined are day.

The hotel is very old but it’s been updated in an appropriate manner. Our room was a little small but served its purpose. The bathroom looked recently refurbished. The parking was excellent and as a blue badge holder we were able to park outside the main reception and parking was free.

We hot parked at the front of the hotel which was good. I found the receptionist very helpful when we arrived . The hotel had a lovely feel to it. Our room was lovely and had lovely view over looking the green space. I had said we were travel for birthdays and was a card in our room on arrival which was a nice touch . Breakfast was really good I’m gluten free and found the staff very helpful. The views from the breakfast room are fantastic.

The only issue we had was the noise in the evening as our room was directly above the bar. Also our family Mr & Mrs Thirkell were upgraded without charge as their original room was without a window which I do think we should have been made aware of before booking. Having said that the window didn’t close in the room properly and their heater didn’t work so they were frozen

The Yorkshire hotel is in a prime location a short walk to the main shops, theatre, restaurants and attractions.
We found the breakfast to have a wide choice and probably the best hotel breakfast we've had for a long time.
The room was clean but felt a litte tight for space, so we'd pay a little bit more for a larger room next time.
Obviously the hotel is an old large building so parts of it are dated like the windows but in character. The bathroom was adequate for our needs.
The heating in the rooms was so warm we turned it off and opened the windows.
The staff were welcoming and helpful.

I booked a single room, still plenty of space in the room for my case and getting ready, room was clean, tea/coffee and a kettle in the room, bathroom was clean, staff were really helpful and accommodating, had room service and was delivered quick and really fresh. Couldn’t fault anything about my stay.

Overall this is an excellent professional hotel, with kind and welcoming staff who made every effort to make us feel at home.
The only two things that let it down were firstly that the WiFi was quite unreliable in my room, and secondly the housekeeping office was right opposite my room and from 8 o’clock every morning there would be people in and out of there shouting, arguing, laughing very loudly - and they woke me up more than once!

Parking chaotic as it's not monitored for non-resident use and spaces are not clearly marked as reserved.
Some rooms are only accessible by a tortuous set of narrow stairs not ideal for anyone but the fitest and most agile!
Staff were excellent in helping find us an alternative room, however.
