My stay was okay room small and dark bed on the small side for a double.
Ate at the hotel restaurant, had steak frites which was amazing and at a fair price.
Breakfast, again food was top quality. It put me in a great mood all day.

Strangely there was a step up to the bathroom and this had a glow in the dark sign that was annoying at night
A few little bits that could have been better. No plug near the desk to make tea had to use bedside table, door stop needed repairing in bathroom.
But all minor. The spa was a nice addition.
Nice location in Harrogate.

Lovely hotel in walking distance to the town. Room clean, only provided with 2 teabags though. Be careful the water is charged at £1.50 if Ur not gold customers. Spa was lovely and relaxing but only have an hour use each day. The hot tub was outside and I didn't use that as the water looked too dirty.
My husband and I stayed but we didn't have breakfast as we thought the price was too much.

Check in is quite quick. You get a complementary cookie each in a bag which is a nice touch.
Our room was spacious. It had a fridge in it which was a plus point along with a safe, hair drier, supplemental convector heater, large decent LCD telly a digital alarm clock and a fan.
Internet is free for Hilton honours members.
We found one stained pillow case on arrival but once informed reception they had it quickly changed by staff.
The hotel is close Harrogate centre so it's excellent for a short walk in to town.
Car parking in the hotel car park is £18 a night. If you have a disc zone disc you can park outside on the street for free if you arrive at 3 pm until 9 am next day.
Breakfast is a self serve buffet. It was one of the better ones I've had at hotels and I couldn't really fault it at all.
Spa access is complimentary for hotel guests. You are allowed one hour a day however on both days we were in longer than that and it was fine. I suspect it would only be enforced if it was really busy.
Spa facilities consist of an indoor Jacuzzi which is good for 4 people maybe 6 at a squeeze, and it's nice and hot. Swimming pool was a a decent temperature too and typical hotel size. Sauna was nice and hot and good size. Steam room was also hot and a good size. There was an ice room alcove however the ice machine was u/s at time of visit. There is a hot tub outside too which was a nice additional touch.
I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it.

Disappointed unfortunately. Blood stain on mattress protector and although the bedroom was large, the furniture was shabby and in need of replacement. The spa area was tired. Some of the grout needs replacing. One member of breakfast staff was really stolen could not even crack a smile. My husband ordered some champagne to the room as a birthday surprise but despite 2 Reminders they still did not bring it. This was probably a nice hotel once unfortunately now not great.

Wonderful hotel in an interesting old building full of character and history, however the rooms desperately need air-conditioning installing because our sleep was very poor as the room was very hot, even with the windows open. Appreciate it may not be possible to install proper integrated a/c systems but at least one of those floor standing plug-in units in each room would make a big difference. Something needs doing to account for these modern hotter climates. Otherwise all good and breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is ina good location, everything is very walkable, albeit Harrogate is hilly.

We stayed in a King Room, which had lovely space, however we were disappointed how blandly decorated the room was.

The hotel as a whole was lovely, the spa area was a great addition and was perfect for a couple of hours rest after walking around Harrogate. The bar area and patio were also pretty and a great space to reset.

Spa and pool were great and staff very welcoming.

Hotel is very grand and sits in its own grounds which was nice. It was a easy walk into Harrogate to the shops, station or park.

Room was clean and well serviced but whole hotel could do with some TLC. Only one small lift worked all week.

Service at breakfast, bar (food & drinks) was variable. It was sometime necessary to ask for something multiple times, which was a little frustrating.

Great selection at breakfast but please fix the toaster, it was either undercooked or trying to set the place on fire.

Champagne bar is a little misleading as its part of the main restaurant and although we did manage to get a drink there it was clear this was not normal as we were told there was no where to sit, because the restaurant was fully booked (even though there were bar stools) it was only used for serving the main restaurant only.

This hotel is an iconic landmark in Harrogate so we were excited to stay there, however I found the waiting staff in the bar really quite uninterested in us and the receptionist that I checked out with quite rude. We had booked half board which includes £35 per head for each adult staying at the hotel towards your evening meal. When we checked in we were informed to put all food on our bill and then at checkout it would be deducted by £70.00 this we did but upon checkout I was told that I should have informed the bar staff that we were half board? In the end the receptionist agreed to deduct it but only under duress which she made quite clear. This left a sour taste TBH. On top of that you took the amount that I owed immediately and you still have a pending amount being held on top of this from my bank account which I cannot have access too, this is 6 days later after checkout and even after me calling the hotel to inform them. Are you going to release this money to me or should I charge you interest?

This was my worst stay at a chain hotel in 15 years. On arrival the car park was unavailable due to a lorry blocking the entrance, and it was there for 30 minutes. My room was dated, too hot, and there was a huge loud vent below the window. On check out I asked for a vat receipt and was told it would be emailed to Expedia, that's not legal, if you charge Vat you must provide a receipt at point of sale. Reception went to see her supervisor and came back saying she could not help, at which point I flagged it was illegal, and she went back to the supervisor again, who came out, and I got a receipt in 15 seconds. My impression from this was the supervisor was either not interested or too lazy to actually do her job. Hotel is in a historic building and facilities suffer as a result, ergonomics in particular are a let down

The room was ok on arrival if you look past the stains on the carpet and hole in the hand towel. When I opened the hand towel a big clump of dark brown hair fell out of it. Made me feel sick.

Staff were nice. Check in was horrendous with only one person on the desk so a massive queue had formed. They take £100 off your card “in case” you spend anything on your room during your stay. Parking is ridiculous at £18 a night and a tiny car park it’s difficult to find a spot. Preparations for a wedding stopped us using the overflow car park.

Restaurant food was barely ok and very expensive. We were asked if we’d like water for the table then charged £4.50 for the pleasure. Saying that breakfast is wonderful with lots of choice.

The spa treatments were fully booked all weekend due to the wedding but the pool etc was available. Don’t use the lockers. If you’re lucky enough to get into one you won’t be able to use it again to get your belongings back as the locks are dodgy. The reception staff have to come in and smash the door off to get you your things out.

They advertise free WiFi but we could never log on. The TV doesn’t connect either so only the usual channels to watch.

All in all with the tired rooms, poor parking and poor food the stay is overpriced and definitely not a luxury stay. I wouldn’t go back.

The additional meal package I paid for was rather miss sold in that it was not what we expected. Evening dinner food was very forgettable and not of particularly good quality - a disappointment having paid extra for it. Breakfast was a lot better. In hindsight we would have ate out for dinner as felt conned by the package and food was poor. Dinning room was pleasant.

Arrived at hotel to be given a room number 368 that didn’t exist, not a good start after a long journey. Booked in for dinner at hotel restaurant, service was okay but food was disappointing in terms of quantity and not prepared as described by the menu. When this was pointed out to the staff we were told that the menu was changing next week and so this shouldn’t happen again, not good. Our room was very warm, there was no heating on, but when we opened the window to let in some cooler air we realised we were close to the kitchen extract fan pumping out a greasy and unpleasant smell.
Overall very disappointing as we use Hilton Double Tree hotels regularly and this particular hotel was not up to the expected standard I’m afraid.

The stay was average, it was £141.00 on a Monday night for a very small room without breakfast. The person who checked me in was nice, they gave me complimentary cookie which is a nice touch. I asked if there was a robe in the room and they spoke to the person next to her on reception and said not with the room you booked I could have got one for £10 however it was non refundable. The spa was really nice the highlight of the hotel. The hotel itself looks tatty on the outside, it’s ok on the inside nothing as spectacular as the photos look. The rooms themselves were very average. Worn down, cracks and stains. And if someone is in the corridor it’s extremely loud. Someone was on the phone speaking loudly in the other room and could hear everything they were saying plus the person on the phone so there is no soundproofing at all. It was ok for one night stay but not worth the rate I paid. On check out the person that was stood next to the nice lady that checked me in was there. When I checked out she didn’t ask me how my stay was just asked me what my room number was and have a good day, think there could be lots of improvements made to this hotel. The spa was the highlight and nice staff person that checked me in and the

Our 2 day stay at the hotel was good .was very clean and staff very nice . We didn't eat there so can't comment on food it's in a great location everything within walking distance . The only downside was having to pay £36 for 2 nights parking within the hotel grounds
A paying customer shouldn't be billed for this and I only found out about this the day before we arrived .

At check in last Friday I explained that I had managed to park in the last disabled bay as 2 other vehicles parked there without blue badges. The receptionist just smiled and directed me to the machine to pay for parking. I was surprised at this but paid £54 on my credit card. A little while later I returned to reception to ask for a map of Harrogate and mentioned to the receptionist ( a different girl) that I had to pay to park despite having a blue badge whereupon she told me that I didn’t have to pay ! Furthermore she couldn’t do anything about it as it’s a private company and suggested that I send them an email. I immediately did this but have heard nothing since . Completely unsatisfactory. Incidentally if you’re paying to stay at the hotel I really don’t think that you should be paying at all.

A nice looking hotel but rough around the edges.
Only 1 very small, incredibly slow, lift which doesnt cover all floors. This was impossible to use at busy times.
The room was super hot, even with both windows open and radiator off. The fan didnt do much except alleviate the stuffiness.
The spa was nice, but the lockers are stress inducing so you definitely need the spa experience to help you relax after fighting with them.
The bathrooms were 100% designed by men haha
I liked the free cookie when we checked in though.

Unfortunately there were no available connecting rooms requested despite requesting it before our arrival and also arriving early and not checking in till later in the day.

Although we appreciate it is an old building, we were disappointed that it is not very clean as the carpets in the hallway or the rooms did not look vacuumed. When we moved the sofa chairs in the room, we were really disappointed to see the amount of dust at the back of the refrigerator. The dust can also be seen on the remote control of the TV.

Food was the best I've tasted in a long time, buffet breakfast was amazing. So much choice and all completely fresh. Staff were superb, couldn't do enough and went above and beyond. Hotel was gorgeous, unfortunately though we never got a chance to go in the pool or spa. Room was nice, nothing special. Downside to the room for us was the bed. It was a very firm mattress so just too hard for us, we didnt sleep great the 3 nights we stayed. However despite the bed we will 100% stay here again just the the fact everything else was amazing.

Had a great overnight stay. The smallest rooms (\"Cozy Double\") are still a good size, and with spa access from 7am - 9pm, great value. Friendly staff, clean room with lots of sun and a big bathroom with large walk-in shower, wonderful spa facilties, and very close to the town centre.

Just a few snagging points to mention.

* Car parking. I'm sure this has rocketed since we last visited in December. It costs £18 per day to park in the hotel car park - as a hotel guest! Sure, it might be more expensive in the town centre, but I am not a shopper - I am staying at the hotel. If you are coming by car, you'll need to factor in this significant and disproportionate cost.
* Half of the channels on the TV didn't work.
* Check-out time is 11am, and the key card will stop working at 11:01am. It costs £30/hour you stay over this. Fair enough perhaps, but bear it in mind if you lose track of time in the spa :)

Great hotel. But don't forget to add £18/day to your costs!

Should be noted that spa access is restricted to one hour per day for residents. Priority is given to those who are having ‘experience days’ or the like. Funnily enough there was no option for this as hotel guests and we were not allowed use of robes or slippers. This wouldn’t be so much of issue if it weren’t incredibly slippy around the pool area for obvious reasons and that 95% of the spa users had been provided all this clobber. Makes you feel a bit uncomfortable sat around on wicker furniture in just your bathing gear and a towel that couldn’t mop up a shot glass. King sized room was a decent layout but partner had a severe reaction to the feathered bedding so be aware if you have allergies.

Staff were excellent. We were offered a free room upgrade, but it was really small. The room smelt as if drains were blocked, and the shower didn't drain quickly. It was extremely hot throughout the night. The gym facility was in excellent condition. Sadly we never experienced the spa.

Me and my partner booked a two night stay for a special birthday, we decided to book what we thought to be a posh hotel and pay a little bit more unfortunately there was nothing posh about it just the prices. We arrived and the front of house staff all seemed lovely. We were given the keys to our room and on entering it was the most bleak depressing grey room I’d ever stayed in it was shabby nothing matched and it was in no state to be let out especially not at near enough £400 for 2 nights the window had a massive gap in it and was hanging out which we did complain about because it was a danger and I thought it was going to fall out it was noisy and cold with the wind blowing in the first night they had put filler in it by the second night. The tea tray had 2 teabags on it so one each you would expect a decent tea tray in the Hilton. Hardly any channels worked on the tv and to be honest the less time spent in that room the better. We had booked breakfast and evening meal the evening meal on the first night was absolutely rubbish I ordered a pasta dish it just looked like a plain bowl of pasta with 2 prawns chucked in then they added charges at end for a meal we had already paid for so felt pressured to pay it even though we didn’t even use the £35 allowance they also added onto a bottle of £4.50 water the woman at dinner was pushy and rude we didn’t return the second night. The only decent thing was the breakfast. But from our experience rooms and building need overhauling.

Gym was good. I didn't realise that spa was only one hour of access a day but it was enough for us. Children can use the pool 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm so if you want a lane swim, best to avoid those times.

I stay in hotels around six times a month, and I can honestly say this was one of the poorest experiences I’ve had in a long time.

In the restaurant, every steak dish on the menu was unavailable, and the only real alternative offered was a burger. When the food arrived, I asked for condiments — they never appeared. The place was quiet, yet no one made eye contact or checked in, despite me being seated right beside the bar. I eventually ordered dessert, waited 15 minutes, and had to chase it up. Seconds after I asked, it suddenly appeared, clearly forgotten about. To top it off, a service charge was added automatically, which felt completely undeserved.

The room wasn’t much better. I was woken just after 6am by the shower in the next room — unbelievably loud, far beyond anything I’ve ever heard in a hotel.

At checkout, I was told I had an £18 parking charge. When I questioned it, I was told it had “nothing to do with them” because it was a third‑party company, despite the hotel collecting the payment. Not exactly taking ownership of the guest experience.

Overall, the hotel trades on its name, not its standards. Very poor

This is a lovely hotel the only thing that let it down was the evening meal . Every night choices on the menu weren’t available. We stayed 5 nights and the evening meals were disappointing. We asked to speak to the chef and were told that all the meals came in frozen except the steak and didn’t resemble a rump steak it was shaped like a jenga brick and grossly we were offer gravy which we had to pay extra for and it only came with a few chips and rocket with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Very disappointing I expected better from a Hilton hotel who we have stayed with before and never been disappointed

Warm greeting on reception by Dev who welcomed us to the hotel. He made checking in & checking out a pleasant experience.
All staff around the spa, bar area & restaurant were friendly.
The hotel itself had a restful & chilled atmosphere & we would highly recommend it.

Hotel is fine although not as nice as I expected for the money. Parking can be a challenge. Location is really great for the city centre and the spa area is very nice, but gets busy. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice, but the restaurant for evening meal could have been better.

An elegant room with a spacious en-suite, and a large comfortable bed. Fluffy towels provided with additional ones when using the spa. A modest spa with pool, jacuzzi sauna and steam room, but perfectly clean and welcome on a rainy afternoon.
All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant with top marks going to the reception girls.

I'm always surprised to see this hotel get such low ratings. The public areas are really nice. The pool and spa area very good. And the rooks about as decent as you'd imagine on a property of this style and age without major refurbishment. Even the breakfast is decent. I can only imagine that people's expectations of. Hilton hotel called teg Majestic are really high, especially if you've paid over £300 for a night whilst a conference is on at the centre next door. Pay a third of that off peak and it's really good value for money.

The grounds and building was beautiful, nipping clean.
Breakfast was beautiful quality and plenty of choice, self serve coffee machines however I can’t drink cows milk so the staff were happy to freshly make me an oat milk latte. The spa was beautiful plenty of lounges and the hot tub outdoor was a nice wake up the next morning in the fresh air

I ordered something to my room and it took 45 minutes and three phone calls to get it.
At breakfast, half the buffet items were gone and there was a long queue to get them refilled. The spa area was extremely busy with no seating remaining
This wasn’t a 4 or 5-star experience at all for around £200 a night plus, I expected better

Clean room with good facilities. Spa complex was lovely. Bar and restaurant very nice. We booked an evening meal package. The food was very good. Didn’t like the service charge that appeared on the bill following the meal, it is my view that such charges should be clearly set out and not an end of evening surprise.
Our room wasn’t ready on arrival (we arrived after the start of check in time), this wasn’t an issue for us and we were handed the keys after about a fifteen minute wait.
On the morning of checkout, having returned from breakfast, we discovered our room door insecure on the latch. I went to the toilet where I was greeted shortly afterwards mid way through my morning visit by one of the housekeepers who was entering the hotel room. OK I will close the toilet door in future, but this was nowhere near checkout time!
In summary a great hotel in walking distance to the centre of Harrogate and all it has to offer. Lovely spa facilities, house keeping a little too keen to do their duties.

I stayed 10 years ago before was a Hilton.
Our room was large.
Bathroom did not ave any heating so was cold and towels not warm.
There were a couple of maintenance issues with bathroom which i reported

Paid for a room extra and I check three times with them about this (the third being at check in the other two were a week in advance) and the room was empty when we came in. It was supposed to be a surprise for my girlfriend as it was our first anniversary and they just completely forgot, we then had to wait an hour for them to put it in and it looked completely rushed. The spa was pretty much broken, my phone was locked in a faulty locker (over half of the lockers had stickers saying out of order so I guess they missed a few other broken lockers. Another guest told us ‘ah I never lock mine it’s always sh*t’) and I had to wait an over 30mins as no member of staff was here. Then on there third day we came back to our room to see that the cleaner had left half a can of Coke in our bathroom. Wouldn’t come back, spent over £700 with them. At checkout they didn’t even bother to ask if we had a nice stay, felt like they had got our money and that was all that matters to them.

Hotel was beautiful however rooms are very basic, had to ask for extra heating 3 times and 8 electrical sockets didn’t work! Some staff need training in basic customer care. Overall very disappointing

This is a grand old hotel with a spa, beautiful old high ceilings and elaborate Victorian grandeur. Found the room to be a little small, but staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent
