An elegant room with a spacious en-suite, and a large comfortable bed. Fluffy towels provided with additional ones when using the spa. A modest spa with pool, jacuzzi sauna and steam room, but perfectly clean and welcome on a rainy afternoon.
All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant with top marks going to the reception girls.

I'm always surprised to see this hotel get such low ratings. The public areas are really nice. The pool and spa area very good. And the rooks about as decent as you'd imagine on a property of this style and age without major refurbishment. Even the breakfast is decent. I can only imagine that people's expectations of. Hilton hotel called teg Majestic are really high, especially if you've paid over £300 for a night whilst a conference is on at the centre next door. Pay a third of that off peak and it's really good value for money.

The grounds and building was beautiful, nipping clean.
Breakfast was beautiful quality and plenty of choice, self serve coffee machines however I can’t drink cows milk so the staff were happy to freshly make me an oat milk latte. The spa was beautiful plenty of lounges and the hot tub outdoor was a nice wake up the next morning in the fresh air

I ordered something to my room and it took 45 minutes and three phone calls to get it.
At breakfast, half the buffet items were gone and there was a long queue to get them refilled. The spa area was extremely busy with no seating remaining
This wasn’t a 4 or 5-star experience at all for around £200 a night plus, I expected better

Clean room with good facilities. Spa complex was lovely. Bar and restaurant very nice. We booked an evening meal package. The food was very good. Didn’t like the service charge that appeared on the bill following the meal, it is my view that such charges should be clearly set out and not an end of evening surprise.
Our room wasn’t ready on arrival (we arrived after the start of check in time), this wasn’t an issue for us and we were handed the keys after about a fifteen minute wait.
On the morning of checkout, having returned from breakfast, we discovered our room door insecure on the latch. I went to the toilet where I was greeted shortly afterwards mid way through my morning visit by one of the housekeepers who was entering the hotel room. OK I will close the toilet door in future, but this was nowhere near checkout time!
In summary a great hotel in walking distance to the centre of Harrogate and all it has to offer. Lovely spa facilities, house keeping a little too keen to do their duties.

Paid for a room extra and I check three times with them about this (the third being at check in the other two were a week in advance) and the room was empty when we came in. It was supposed to be a surprise for my girlfriend as it was our first anniversary and they just completely forgot, we then had to wait an hour for them to put it in and it looked completely rushed. The spa was pretty much broken, my phone was locked in a faulty locker (over half of the lockers had stickers saying out of order so I guess they missed a few other broken lockers. Another guest told us ‘ah I never lock mine it’s always sh*t’) and I had to wait an over 30mins as no member of staff was here. Then on there third day we came back to our room to see that the cleaner had left half a can of Coke in our bathroom. Wouldn’t come back, spent over £700 with them. At checkout they didn’t even bother to ask if we had a nice stay, felt like they had got our money and that was all that matters to them.

We booked an accessible room as I’ve recently had a knee replacement. The shower area was really dangerous. Water sealed over the make shift sealant which then wouldn’t drain away. It turned the bathroom into a huge puddle. Was constantly asking for extra towels to dry this up

I’m hesitating between four and five stars - the hotel is great and has the wonderful Harrogate Spa, the food was excellent, staff is fantastic and helpful, but, this IS a really old hotel which means smaller rooms, not temperature controls in each room and minimal “extras” in the room. Which is fine but doesn’t really add up to a five compared to other hotels where we stayed. If you are looking for elegant main rooms with lots of marble, this is a great hotel for you. It’s lovely. It’s close to town and the Convention Center. According to other guests, they have great drinks and the spa is amazing. We didn’t use either. The last time we stayed here was prior to Doubletree by Hilton renovating it and they’ve done a wonderful job. The bathroom is enormous with a good shower but a few little things are keeping me from giving it a 5.

I stayed at your hotel last night in room 115 and was disappointed the room was not a king room as per booking but also the heating wasn’t working so the room was freezing cold.

When I raised this with guest services i was told the only other room available was a similar size, which I rejected.

I was given a portable heater to counter the broken heating but this kept cutting out through the night and the room never got warm.
Please advise on how you plan to rectify this.

An event was going on downstairs which we were not informed about prior to our arrival or upon check in. Loud music vibrating through our room on the first floor until 12:30am. When i called reception i was met with a very short and abrupt response stating that the music would finish soon and then they hung up before i could answer, this was at 10:30pm. I understand that events go on and everything, however some prior warning and the offer for a quieter room would have been appreciated. Overall extremely disappointed.

We were lucky to be upgraded to a superior room which was lovely and spacious. We used the spa facilities which we enjoyed. The only downside was that the room was SO hot, we ended up needing to have the window open, and we could hear the guests in the adjoining room (not with us - the door was locked) very loudly. Breakfast was lovely. Overall an enjoyable stay

We had a meal in Fredrick’s I got a ribeye patty burger I asked for it to be well done. It came out cremated. They gave me another one but it was not the ribeye Patty burger It was just a burger so it wasn’t very happy.

We loved the hotel, very regal looking! Staff werw friendly. Clean and spacious. If i had to guve a negative it would be only one lift which was extremely slow and on a personal note, the bed was extremely hard. We both woke up with sore hips! Again that doesnt mean everyone will find the bed too hard. The bedding and bedroom were beautiful and clean. All in all would definitely recommend and would come again.

The room wasn't quite how we expected based on the picture provided at point of booking, but was ok. The bed was on the former side but reasonably comfortable, as we're the pillows. The spa facilities were excellent and and well maintained. Breakfast was also excellent and staff were well presented (if a little inexperienced, save for the Maitre D). Staff providing room service was very polite & delivered our room service exactly on the time requested. Overall, quite possibly our favourite UK hotel so far.

\"Upgraded\" to a smaller room with black mould

Checked in and we were given a smaller room than we'd booked. When we asked if perhaps we had been given the wrong room, the receptionist tried to tell us we actually had an upgrade. Windows barely opened and were thick with black mould. A housekeeping team member came to clean but only brought glass cleaner which doesn't kill mould. Here are pics of the windows AFTER housekeeping cleaned. We were eventually given our original booking after two requests & even had to take the photographs of mould down to reception to be believed. Not a great beginning to our stay by any means.

All the staff were brilliant especially Simon behind the bar. The hotel is very convenient for walking into the town centre. Its just a shame the room we were in is very tired with cracks on the ceiling, a hole in the wall by the wardrobe and curtains hanging off the rail but it was roomy and the bed was very comfortable.

Lovely clean spacious room, although only had a small window so a little dark. We were on the 4th floor and room very warm for sleeping even with fan provided. Bed very comfortably although pillows not! Lovely hotel with nice relaxing bar area. Breakfast had everything we needed and was lovely, just one complaint, the hot dishes did not keep the cooked breakfast warm so we had a cold cooked breakfast which was a shame as it tasted great! All in all a great place for a stopover but could have been better with little touches.

I did like paying 18 pound a day to park my car there when i am paying good money to stop in hotel. I found the hotel to be a bit run down ,seats were worn down and cushions on outside seating some had black mold on them ,a very overpriced hotel and drinks were expensive .room was in need of tlc ,would not go back to this hotel .

Rooms don’t have air con so I wouldn’t recommend staying in the height of the summer.
Breakfast buffet is adequate but nothing special. Disappointed that they charge for parking - as most people drive this is just a hidden cost to be added on the room rate.

Rooms are dated, but with newish bathrooms, which included a bath. Our stay was soured by finding poo on the bathroom door and other areas in the bathroom, plus ‘other bodily fluids’ on the curtains, which really ruined the first night. Clearly this isn’t the hotels fault that someone had done this, but it wasn’t cleaned when requested. Also then made me look harder at bits and a realised the tiles in the bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time and the roof was generally dirty. Other parts of the hotel were good. Spa was good, with keycoded lockers. Pool is hot at 30-33c I think. Outdoor area and the ability to have drinks in there. Children are £5 extra I think, time limited between 0700-0900 and 1700-1900. Car park is £15 a night, until 1300 the next day. I wanted to extend soi could have lunch in town but the machine was broken at the app was very buggy soi gave up.breakfast was the standard sort, nothing to rant or rave about. The bar was good, it was heaving when we were there but the bar chap was still able to come over, take orders, etc. The building is really on a grand scale, the carters/breakfast room could fit a few houses in there! I get the feeling this is used a lot by people going for a night out, we had to leave a damage deposit

Reception, cleaning and bar staff very pleasant. Staff radio on loud, so we could hear conversations about which rooms had been vacated etc, and overheard a manager publicly telling the cleaner off on the stairway when walking past. Our door was left unlocked one morning by the cleaner. Lifts not always working, some areas of the hotel a little tired, cigarette butts all over by the entrance. Beautiful building Great location Room lovely, nice to have a bath in the room. Comfortable bed and nice to have tea and coffee making and iron in the room. A bit cheeky that the hotel takes £150 out of your account just in case you spend anything on your account, guess they are making on the interest!

Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms perfect location for visiting Harrogate. The staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is great but can get very busy, the outdoor hot tub is good but could of done with better cleaning we found it a bit dirty. The bar service can be slow at times when just one person serving. Just a couple of things that were a bit disappointing, firstly we had a 15 minute wait for our room to be ready. Secondly around 9.15 in the morning housekeeping knocked on the door and entered the room whilst we were still in bed 'not sleeping', although check out wasn't until 11am. The dining room at breakfast time was very busy with a wait for a table and queues for the coffee machine and toaster, however the breakfast was great.
