The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The pool area was also okay. They have an outdoor shower where you can rinse off before and after having a dip in the pool. It is situated at the front of the hotel, which I thought was interesting. I wish the breakfast had more options for vegetarian/non pork eaters. It would also be great if there was a fruit basket, rather than it being in a fruit salad. Although I must say their yoghurt was divine. The free harbour cruise was a lovely touch, as we could learn more about Malta in 90 minutes.

Second visit to this hotel and the welcome was wonderful to have such a friendly atmosphere.
The beds are hard so would recommend asking for a topper if thats what your comfort level is gauged to.
Rooms are fairly aound proofed but dont stop the noise of people walking past the door.

Very friendly staff who were so warm and welcoming. The room itself was lovely and comfortable with lots of nice amenities. Situated in the Bugibba area where there is lots to do a short walk away, and lots of bus stops nearby to take us to different parts of Malta. A great stay!

The Hotel itself was fine. The food was adequate. It is a shame that building works are currently happening and that it meant the streets were dirty and bordered on dangerous. Not the Hotel's fault but it will soon be hemmed in by these buildings

Such a friendly hotel in a great location. Our room was really spacious, clean and cool considering we were there during August and it was really hot. It was great to have a fridge in the room. The breakfast was really good and staff were all friendly. We loved the multicultural and friendly vibe. It felt like a home from home!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. A lovely large room, but unfortunately not much of a view due to other high-rise buildings surrounding the property. The level of cleanliness was excellent, and all credit to the staff for keeping up the standards.
This hotel is in a quiet part of the town, away from all the hustle and bustle of the built-up areas, so it's nice and quiet. If you want the bars and restaurants, they are only a 10 minute walk away, as is the beach.

Had a lovley stay here last week. Decor a little dated and food not reallt to mt taste however i do believe they were offering a reduced menu in the current situation and im a very fussy eater.
Staff lovley and welcoming and the included boat trip around the harbour was fabulous as a frequent traveler to malta ot was nice to experience something new.
We stayed for 3 nights and moved onto a larger sea front hotel which cost considerably more however found with the current sitiation we were alot more comfortable in this hotel, they were not over crowded which easily enabled social distancing whilst still enjoying the facilities. Overall for the price at this time of year its fantastic value

My hotel experience with II Palazzin was okay. The beds were hard. I was not fond of the breakfast that was served. I can attribute this to having a different diet. There was the instance where I left the “do not disturb” sign on my door but when I return at the end of the day my room had been serviced anyway. The hotel is okay but I cannot say that I would stay at this establishment again nor would I recommend it to friends.

Nice Clean Hotel

Second time staying at the hotel after visiting two years ago. It's in a good inland location, close to both Qawra and Buggiba seafronts, with the main bus station a few minutes walk away. Rooms are very clean and functional, well cleaned on a daily basis. Buffet style breakfast is good quality, and very well stocked and it has a lovely bar/TV lounge next door. The only problem was out of the hotel's control, which is a lot of building going on adjacent to the hotel. They start around 6am, but surprisingly, the noise didn't seem to be much of a problem. My first floor room was classed as sea view, and it did have a nice view of the sea. Sadly, if as it appears, they are adding higher floors to the construction, I don't think it will remain a sea view room once the building work is completed.

Our room was exactly like the photo in your site with a private balcony/terrace and coffee/tea service (that we didn't make use of as we don't like Nescafe). Dinner was excellent as was the very abundant breakfast.
What we did not like was the fact that the indoor pool closes at 6pm and as we checked in around that time we could not make use of this facility. So we were restricted only to our bedroom and the restaurant.

Great hotel. Quiet part of Qawra, which can be hard to find. We went half board. A smaller selection than some places but fine for what we wanted. Great staff that were just there when you needed them. My only complaint is that the mattresses were so hard it was difficult to get a decent night's sleep. We loved the vacinity and quietness of the hotel. They do not off AI which keeps things this way. We had a fabulous week.

There were building works all around the hotel which wasn’t mentioned when booking. Very noisy and all you could see was cranes! We booked a double room with sea view but were given two singles beds and views of building works instead. When we asked for a double room were told none were available. However, another couple asked for a double room and were given it. Very disappointed.

Travelling on my own, l was a little nervous about staying here. However, the staff were very welcoming and helpful without being obtrusive. The food was excellent and plentiful all week, the room spotless and cleaned daily, and l had a very good time here.

Can certainly recommend hotel, staff excellent, friendly helpful & polite. Cleanliness spot on, bed linen changed everyday as well as towels, with the option to reuse & save policy.
Food buffet style, breakfast included in stay with plenty choice, sausage more hotdog type but bacon good and egg type changed everyday, continental meat & cheese, salad, fresh fruit & yogurt, croissants & Nutella yummy & they have HP sauce, if you ask.
Evening meal again buffet at an extra charge €10 great value. Options changed every night, soup, pasta dish & salads, plus 2 meat choices & 1 fish dish.... sometimes maybe not exactly as expected but good quality produce (lamb curry was more like a fruity stew...but lamb was delicious & tender) cake, fruit, cheese & crackers & ice cream/cream if you ask.
The only negative was the lack of sunny lounge areas, unfortunately, pool was in the shade majority of day... this is maybe a positive in the very very hot summer but not so good in October. There is a very small roof terrace with a few sun loungers but not pretty. The small indoor pool (4m x 4m & 1.2m deep) on the floor 6
There is building work around but this is a Malta wide issue, demolition of buildings completed, so dust not so much a problem but 2 cranes in view.
Overall, pleasant stay, great value for money, quiet location and excellent service from all members of staff

I never plan to spend much time in the hotel when I’m holiday as I’m far more interested in getting out to explore where I’m staying. So I can’t understand some of the reviews picking at ridiculous things like staff not standing when addressing you; it’s not 1901 anymore! These people need to get out more. The hotel staff here are so friendly and I was made to feel very welcome as a solo traveller.

The hotel is located close to the sea front and to nearby bus stops which link you to the Cirkewwa-Mgarr ferry (approx 45 mins on bus) to the North of the Island (if you’re heading to Gozo) and to Valletta in the South. There are also good bus links to the airport.

The hotel is clean. The corridors are a bit dated and could do with a spruce-up, but the rooms are acceptable and cleaned daily. The breakfast is basic, but again, for the cost of the rooms it is acceptable and was perfectly fine for setting me up for my long days of island trekking!

I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I came back to the St. Paul’s Bay area.

More like a BB rather than a 4 star hotel! Lots of work needed to even get 2 stars! We had to sleep on a bed made out of chip board with a mattress. Carpet outside the room looked like it had not seen a vacuum cleaner in months. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Ended up going somewhere else

Clean and tidy room with good A/C. We had a cheaper room but it was fine, though the view was to the side building site. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially James in the bar and restaurant. The breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection of items. Dinner was poorer; more like a canteen but frankly a wide ranging buffet for ten Euros represents good value in an area where eating out can be expensive. Tip: eat early while the buffet is fresher. The exterior pool is compact and some loungers in need of repair but the area is clean and pleasant. There is now building construction on one side but most rooms overlook the finished new builds to the front. We used a hire car and used found street parking (free) nearby but this will become more of a problem when building in the area of Qwara is completed.
We were pleased with our choice of hotel and felt it represented good value for the area. We would happily book again if looking for a hotel in the area.

The staff were fantastic, really helpful and informative.
Double room was 2 single beds pushed together which wasn’t what I expected from a middle priced hotel.
The main negative was the poolside - the sun beds were mostly all broken or damaged and there were very few parasols available (5 max) and a couple were broken and didn’t stay up.

The hotel stay itself was wonderful, and the manager Simon was so friendly and helpful with many things. The only thing we weren't super impressed with was the food. The hotel was clean, the area close to some amazing restaurants and our tour meeting places, and the staff was great!

The hotel was clean in and out. All of the staff were friendly, although some of the waiting staff looked like they had slept in their uniforms.

The outside pool area was again clean, with a good sized pool, and plenty of sun loungers.

The rooms were spacious, with tea and coffee facilities. The decor and furnishings in the room we had were very dated in comparison to the pictures on the Expedia website.

The area in front of the hotel us being redeveloped, and will be for a while by the looks of it. Therefore, there is a lot of noise coming from out side from 0700 hours. We had this every day except the Sunday.

The restaurant in the hotel has very reasonably priced evening meals, but there are also restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

This was our 5th or 6th time at this hotel so we are always welcomed like friends. We find this hotel quiet and out if the way but not too far from amenities. Simon the manager and Roslyn on reception are accommodating. James and his restaurant staff can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms are a good size and comfortable.

A good hotel near Buggiba Bay

A fair good enough hotel near Buggiba Bay. Although the property is a bit old now, they just maintained it to make you feel comfortable. A walking distance to Bus station to any point in Malta and a 3-5 minutes walk also down to Buggiba Bay for an afternoon walk and dinner. They served decent breakfast to fill you in for your day activity and a eur10 for buffet dinner is a good deal if you are lazy and tired to look for a restaurant. The front office personnel are attentive also and ready to assist you whenever you need them.

The property is clearly getting a little old, needs a good top to bottom refurbishment. Choose this one due to its location and that it had an indoor pool and sauna. Pool was leaking all over the roof area, sauna was broken and when asked about being fixed this was not going to happen anytime soon.

Staff were generally happy, though did not like to be asked for too much. e.g. tea and coffee was not replenished by housekeeping and it was clearly a massive hassle to them.

We were in room 504 which had good view but unfortunately diggers were extracting ground immediately in front of our hotel for another hotel to be built so sitting on balcony was not an option too noisy. They started 7am. This is a pity as it is a lovely hotel but I think the view in a year's time or sooner will be looking at the newly built hotel.
Recommend local bus travel with a 7 day card. Buses to use timetable very easy to follow.

The building looks beautiful from the outside but inside it is very old and dated. The room looked nothing like the pictures, and there is a huge building site in front of the sea view, where they are digging out bedrock. The lady at the desk was nice but we chose not to stay there and we didn't get a refund. All in all an extremely disappointing experience.

Nice location, however major construction is right outside. It will be a long time before it is finished. Initial contact with front desk clerk was not inviting. Dark long haired woman was not friendly. Air conditioning was not working in room. Took over 3 hours for it to get resolved. Again same clerk suggested we open the balcony door for cooler air. Explained the noise, bugs, and others cigarette smoke would enter our room. Finally a different person fixed the issue.

Very enjoyable week in Il Palazzin Hotel. Breakfasts were good with a wide variety of choice. We enjoyed 3 evening meals which were excellently price and a good standard of food.
The room was pleasing although we felt it needed more lighting in the room and we were disappointed not to have a light on our balcony, which many others had.
We would recommend this hotel to friends and aquaintances.

Really Enjoyable Stay

Really enjoyable stay for 5 nights. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice available both hot and cold. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The evening meal for residents is EUR10 per person and this is excellent value for money. It is buffet style with hot & cold starters, main course and desserts with eat as much as you like. The car-parking can be a problem if you arrive late in the evening as it is on-street parking. Don't understand why but one morning our used towels which had been left in the bath to be changed were folded and hung up again. When this was brought to the attention of Reception they were very apologetic and within 2 minutes had a full set of clean towels up to our room. Good value for money and convenient to a number of restaurants, sea-front, etc. Recommended.

We have requested room on high floor with a double bed and hotel management has listened to our request. We have been given room 504 with a beautiful sea view. The room was comfortable, quite and spacious. The hotel offers good selection of dishes for breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good value for money. We felt welcomed and relaxed.😊

Arrived late am saw room not what we wanted but tired slept am went down to reception met by simon and roselyn they were amazing knew we wanted sea view as we had day planned we came back to hotel room moved we had sea view few hiccups in room toilet/ seat in balcony seat but sorted immediatley rest of holiday was amazing loved and felt sorry for roselyn on hearing several times many complaints out of her control she held her head high got through amazing (i also work with customer feedback) well done roselyn simon you made us feel so welcome all through holiday

Billed as a 4 star Hotel - it was closer to a 1 star. The 'pool' was a tiny rectangle at the front of the Hotel which was in shade for most of the day.
The room was very below average - tired looking. Sea view was a joke - if you had binoculars you may have been able to actually see the sea but otherwise no.

Checked out within 15 minutes of checking in.

Great Value For the Price.

Best value hotel in the area. Spotlessly clean with excellent helpful and friendly staff. Within a short walk of the coast on both sides of the peninsular where there were some very good restaurant's and bars. ( and some not so good one's!) The layout of the roads was a bit of a maze but luckily we like exploring. There was no car park so be prepared to hunt around for a gap in the nearby streets.

This hotel cam be a very comfortable, quiet place to stay. The building is solidly built and the balconies face an inner courtyard. It is extremely difficult to find, the street isn't labeled on the area map nor anywhere on the street itself.

Very nice hotel in a relaxing area

Everything was just ideal. Staff were exceptionally attentive. Very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was good. The area is close to everything but set back from the front so no traffic noise. Loved it and will go back.

Whilst the staff were lovely and did their best this hotel is tired out! It is basic and v clean but the decor is very dated and the communal facilities (roof terrace, bar, restaurant) are very dreary and need updating.
The rooms were fine, although the beds are very hard! If you want extra pillows or kettle etc they will oblige but you need to ask.
Unfortunately for the hotel they are right next door to a new massive hotel being built so it is quite noisy, the views are ruined if you get the building site, and as a result there is a lot of building rubble and rubbish in the street outside. It also doesn't get much sun where the pool is located.
The indoor pool they mention is very small (jacuzzi size) and I think was once just that but it is now not used as one. But the room it is in on the roof has a green/mouldy roof and there is literally nothing else there apart from 2 sun loungers on the roof terrace and an old broken excercise bike.
In general I felt sorry for the staff and manager as they are obviously trying to do their best with a very old hotel stuck in a run down part of Qawra. The whole area is in need of a coat or 2 of paint, rust remover, broken concrete repairs, rubbish removal and feral cat and dog catchers.

Very good

Good experience overall. Staff are very helpful especially Simon, the general manager, who is awesome, he goes to great length to help with anything to make your stay easier even with activities outside the hotel. Breakfast is great.

Could have been better

Apart from black mold on the roof of the indoor swimming pool, builders working from 6am banging each morning, pillows being rock hard, being able to hear the people in the room next door snoring and the staff smoking in the office where I we were printing our boarding passes, it was enjoyable.

A warm welcome and very good service

Initially there was supposed to a charge for Wi-Fi, but on arrival was pleased to hear that it was free. Our room was very clean and a good size with balcony. We had a TV which included Sky news and 2 English speaking movie channels. The staff were very friendly and cheerful, especially Roslyn on reception and James in restaurant. Food good and a choice of 3 starters and main courses for dinner, dessert was fresh fruit, ice cream, cake or cheese and biscuits. Room cleaning service was very efficient and mostly done whilst we had breakfast. Clean towels every day and bedding changed frequently. On our last four evenings as there were only a few of us, we were served at tables in the bar rather than the buffet in restaurant and the meals were even better.

Hotel was pretty basic but good value for the money we paid. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were serviced daily We had a few issues but they were dealt with promptly.
Beds were very hard and we found the rooms cold in the evenings. No atmosphere in the bar/ lounge. As it is we couldn't see ourselves returning.
The Hotel needs a good overhaul and some money spent on it.

Great getaway

Very clean hotel and great location. The building work across the way, although no fault of the hotel was the only downfall. They started work approx 6.30 every morning so no chance of a sleep in. Great holiday overall tho. Staff were very friendly and would definitely revisit.

The hotel was very clean except for the indoor pool, which had black mould on the roof. Not something you want to be swimming under. The walls are paper thin - heard the neighbors snoring. Also, a new hotel is being built right beside this one and the workmen start at 6am.

There was construction underway which started at 06.30 every morning, we had absoutely no warning of this. The hotel was quite old fashioned, not too many facilities available. Bar was shut ridiculously early. Staff were pleasant. Wouldn't stay here again.

Well positioned hotel.

Although a short walk to the bus station, close to the sea, and near shops and restaurants, the hotel was located in a quiet neighbourhood. The inevitable building work opposite was not a major inconvenience and didn't detract from our stay. Malta provides a rich variety of places to visit, and we travelled extensively on the local buses.

I returned to Il Palazzin for a short break and was not disappointed - room was good, and staff excellent. I arrived late (after midnight - a late flight), but was given a very good reception. As previously daytime staff knew my room number and were again very helpful. I needed an early start on leaving, and staff arranged transport, and were again very helpful, so all in all another very good stay.

Hotel staff very friendly. Room ; bugs on floor, floor cleaned with dirty cloth each day toilet wooden seat un hygienic . Food look warm everyday no bacon when stated on English breakfast all 7 days none.
Hotel on a whole needs to have make over i.e.; bathroom grout black, carpet in hall ways on entrance to bedrooms tatty, even though staff friendly they did not have the attitude of last visit same staff.
