Disappointing..photos not current!

Photos do not reflect the accommodation. The hotel is run down and very expensive for service received. Sea view room is partial sea view, the rest is a 24hr noisy road and other hotels. Twin beds are not an option...one bed is a sofa bed in the lounge/kitchen area. The airport shuttle is actually the local bus service which stops a couple of hundred metres away, down cobbled pavements. The hotel feels like it is being run down to close it for a much needed refurbishment. Amenities and information were sparse. Very expensive for what we experienced.

My wife and i enjoyed our stay. The property is beginning to show its age, but it is far from shabby.
Our suite consisted of a kitchen/ dining area/second bedroom.c the kitchen had an oven and 2 burner electric stove. It had platrd and sikverware etc.
Curiously there was no microwave.
The bedroom ws comfy and decent size. There was a balcony with chairs and a clothe a frying rack.
The sofa in the kitchen cpnverts to a double bed.

Kitchen means not all meals have to be eaten out.
Convenient location
Cheaper than many other hotels in the area
Several good restaurants in the area.
Indoor and outdoor pools (we did not use them)
Very accomodating, friendy staff.
Fridge is very cold.
Very clean.
Two mini grocery stores very close.
Chaplin's restaurant next door does a good English breakfast, beans on toast, egg a andwich etc.

CONs
Parking is difficult, but not impossible.
No microwave.
No drinking water - it has to be purchased like most of the hotels. Buy a 7 litre jug from the mini mart.

We were hoping for a nice balcony with a view of the ocean. If we stood in just the right spot, we could just see the ocean between buildings at the back. The A/C was greatly appreciated but really caused excessive humidity in the room. We also didn't realize that the pool was across the road. Nice restaurants within walking distance.

The accommodation is away from the main road and offers a quiet location. The pool and spa facilities are located a short distance from the accommodation but within easy reach. My studio rooms were a little tired but clean and comfortable with hot water. In room TV facilities could do with being modernised to enable access to internet and portable entertainment

Our room had 100s of ants on the floor we switched rooms to a smaller room with out. Hotel still charged us the same amount, and this room didn’t have AC and only 2 single beds. We are on our honey moon and found this to be an absolute nightmare hotel and will never return. For the price point there is at least 10 hotels in the area that are way nicer and better value

Ive stayed at sunny coast regularly over the last 35 years. Although they've up made the reception look nice and modern the rooms dont reflect this and havent been updated in around 20 years at least - with furniture, tiles and utensils either worn out or broken. The cleaning of the rooms has also lessened over time. It seems each year I have stayed there has been something else changed for the worse. On the plus side the rooms are large and do have most things you need and the swimming pool is easily accessible. Some of the issues we had to raise - dirty sheets, broken wardrobe and no latch on the doors to the balcony were rectified within 24 hours.

There are many construction projects nearby, and you will be woken up in the morning.
The sound insulation is poor, I was woken up in the middle of the night by the crying screaming kid quite often.
Also there was something wrong with the door of balcony, if you are very sensitive with noise and you probably can't sleep in the living room sofa bed, even we shut the door probably but still can hear people talking downstair and the wind blowing like a horrible movie at least 3 nights.

Otherwise, everything is ok.

Fabulous big apartment. Booked a studio and was given a really large 1 bedroom apartment with a sea view. Staff were extremely helpful and very polite. Apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you could need. Could do with a bit of a refurb as the bathroom and kitchen are a little dated. All in all very good value for money.

Everything I needed for a comfotable stay.

I loved the AX Sunny coast. My apartment had everything I needed. A comfortable bed, plenty of storage and ample kitchen utensils to prepare breakfast and the simple kind of evening meal I like to prepare when I away. The bath was a little small but there was plenty of really hot water. The apartment was serviced every three days with clean sheets and towels each time. Teatowel, cloth, scourer and washing up liquid all provided in the kitchen area. There was plenty of good lighting as well. I received a very warm welcome on arrival by Mahesh on reception who also willingly helped me sort a couple of issues during my stay. Buses leave from outside the hotel to various places although it took me a couple of days to work out how to get back as mostof the buses do not return via the hotel.

The hotel is a very good value for what you pay. It is in a nice location with beautiful views overlooking the bay. We did not use the pool while there but looked very nice. The room itself was very big. The only complain I have is the room is a bit outdated. Everything looks like from the '90s. the towels are a bit thin and they don't give you enough soap/shampoo (although I'm sure you can ask for more at reception). The location is good - it is a 25 minute Uber ride to center of Valetta, about 20 eur. Overall - very good hotel but could use some updating.

I was impressed with everything.. staff could not have been more helpful... the appartment was huge...fantastic view..location great... cheeky monkeys bar...second to none.

Unfortunately my experience ended on a negative vibe... we were offered a shower room to freshen up before we headed off to the airport
Oh my god you wouldnt think we were in the same place
Cockroach floating in the toilet... previous occupants dirty towels on floor... floor didnt look like it had been cleaned in weeks.. it was that unpleasant i had to wear my flip flops to shower and then put them in the bin
I was shocked the whole room was totally discusting.. the pool side showers were 100% better.. i should have just used them..
Got to say Dylan on reception was fab..!

Practical but not too cosy

The hotel left double feelings.

Positive things. It had everything - nice and polite staff, good outside and lobby looking, pleasant inside and outside swimming pools plus its it in very good location - close to grocery shops, bus and restaurants. Also it has balcony, and wifi is all right.

Negative side that rooms itself are little outdated - atmosphere inside is little inconvenient as furniture is old (though bedding and pillows were nice and clean). Conditioners are loud and ineffective. Towels for swimming room you have to rent.

So, in summary, holidays there were OK, but probably for next time, I would choose another option.

We were diving at Waterworld, which is just opposite, and found this location very convenient. Beds were comfortable, and the view from the balcony over the sea was lovely. No recycling bins or food waste bins.

The pool area was not very clean - in one of the empty jacuzzis there were dead cockroaches :( Also notice the pool water is salty, The elevator of this hotel was very small and old and the air condition in the room was super loud. Room was though very big and so was the balcony too.

The hotel room was clean , spacious and quiet. The food in restaurant and breakfast was good and great value for money . Plenty of free beds at the pool and all towels were provided . Staff were friendly especially the resturant/barstaff. Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from and busstops right outside the hotel take you all around the island.
Unfortunately we didnt have a sea view and the room did have a smell of stale smoke but when we enquired about this we were told it would be an extra €30 per night to move to a room with a view. We spent most of our time exploring the island so this didn't ruin our holiday but wouldve made it a little more pleasant.

Very nice hotel good facilities that we found the foot spa very useful and well fitted out. The shower in the room was a little basic and a little dangerous as the bath is very slippery.
A lot of the bars are tied to AX chain and were much cheaper when we moved away from the centre.

The hotel has a great location, but, if you don't have a sea view the rooms are very poor, there is no parking and the pool is open to public!!!!! So everyone can come in if the pay, so weekend is terrible. Also, the pool is with salty water, the Jacuzzi was empty and the inside pool restricted for kids almost all day.

They have a late checkin and an early checkout (4PM & 10 AM respectively). Room was large but the AC could not keep up with the heat outside. Shower was in a tub with a very lightweight shower curtain placed very close that would end up sticking to your body as you tried to shower. I ended up placing the curtain so it was outside of the tub to keep that from happening.

My stay was from 3rd to 7th april, they never cleaned up my room .. There was a smell in the bathroom.. i had a room with a view of building side.. very noisy in the nights and mornings.. The indoorpool was about 5min walk away from the hotel and always crowded.. In couldnt find the reception number, for any urgency.. There was a fire alarm in the midnight..

The only thing which was nice, the people in the Spa , and it was very relaxing..
I ordered a taxi to the airport, he was so fast and his driving was terrible!!!

Reception /bar /restaurant area refurbished to good standard. Rooms however poor. Damaged tables, fridge freezer and smashed window in our apartment. Other apartment we viewed was very dark with very small balcony area.
Please be advised pool is not within hotel, is down a hill across road from hotel. Not suitable for anyone only able to walk short distances.

Good value in the winter.

For what I paid it was fine. Lift is extremely small and slow. Rooms are noisy due to neighbouring construction work. Rooms can be noisy due to a glass laundry shaft which means you can hear conversations in rooms adjacent and above / below. “Free parking” is not as advertised - it is on street and in an extremely busy area meaning you often have to park far away. Internet is unreliable, often disconnects due to service timing out. (Less then 1mb speed). Air conditioning is antiquated - noisy and not efficient (blows warm). Kitchen area is nice to have. Location is convenient to the rest of the island. Majority of staff were great, especially house keeping.

Overall we loved our stay in Sunny Coast and all the staff were lovely and exceedingly helpful. It is in a great coastal position, with bus stops right outside taking you to all parts of the island. The Aquarium is within a 12 minute walk around the headland.
We didn't like the view from our original room, but after asking, we were shown others and chose one with a much better one.
The main room was a little tired/dated with a few bits needing to be repaired/cleaned up for it to become a very good place to stay. All the kitchen basics were as required, but if you cook do take your own small knife..
We had issues with towels nearly every day, only having the 1 large, 1 small each, plus bath mat twice in the whole week.
Aiming to return, as we lost nearly two days due to the \"hurricane\"....and we never got to Gozo.

We had a fantastic stay at Sunny Coast. The apartment was well equipped and a comfy bed. Lots of space for the 2 of us. We really liked that there was separation between the kitchen and the bedroom. The gym was actually really good with clean and modern equipment. Very friendly staff. Would stay again. Location is ideal too - right by a bus stop and nearby groceries, bars and restaurants.

I have stayed in this resort in Apartment number 606. The condition of the property is OK but bathroom is not good at all. Shower is worst and hot water doesn't come properly and also water blocks. Can hear everything from upper apartment and also from the side one. I won't recommend this. This is not a four star apartment as Hotel.com says.

Hotel was amazing and so was all the staff. Very accomadating and helpfull wherever possible. Being a large party or people there was no fault, we managaed to speak to Bernard the bar manager who kindly prepared a buffet for 50 people within 24 hours. Food was great amd very responsibly priced.
Location was spot on with bus stop right outside hotel and lots of shops, Restuarants within walking distance.
Defaintly will be visiting again.

Overall everything was superb- clean and spacious 2room apartment. We stayed in room 505, which had very nice seaview. Only minor thing- fridge door should work better. Thank You very much, our family is pleased and see You soon!

Good hotel, lousy breakfast

Hotel was really very good, the let down was the arrangements for breakfast which was less satisfactory, ...a second cup of coffee (First one was half full) was added to the bill, couldn't beleive it!

The apartments are a really good size, our 2bedroom sea view had 4 balconies so had a real choice of where to sit apart from no furniture only on main one. Only 1 thing let the complex down and that was the maid service. Very unpredictable, 1st day she rocked up at 10am, wed only arrived at 9pm the previous night. After this we were lucky if she’d been in and done the room much before 4pm.

Nice hotel but lots of building work next door.

Had to upgrade to a seaview because of ongoing construction work opposite the road facing rooms. Noisy during the day and very dusty/grimy from dust flying about. Didn't see any info about ongoing construction neatby, otherwise might have looked elsewhere. The seaview room was much much better, although the dust/grime is still on balcony due to the construction. Apart from that, really enjoyed our stay. Staff were helpful, pool/spa complex was really nice and there is a bus stop directly outside. Tip; if you intend to use the busses, get out early as they are always rammed! Be prepared to have hassle getting on a bus back to the apartments, regardless of which tourist attraction you are visiting.

Nice large apartments

We had a 1 bedroom apartment. The apartment was large but in need of modernisation. We booked a sea view room which was well worth the additional price. It had everything we needed but it would be nicer if there was a shower screen rather than the curtain. The curtain blows about and sticks to you sometimes as there's not much space and the shower head is on the side of the wall rather than the end.

The pool was great, slightly seperate from the hotel but just a 30 sec walk from the front of the hotel.

Lots of really great restaurants nearby so we only wandered into central bugibba twice. We also went on several organised tours arranged through our rep at the hotel which were good.

Poor check in times

Disappointed with check in time 4 pm we set off at 3am and we’re there for noon, not good to hang around for 4 hours
