This hotel location was perfect! Laredo st just around the corner and Galaria Umberto across the street. Josh was on duty when we arrived, he was very friendly and helpful. Please note when checking in (specially after hours) the entrance maybe confusing. Look for the intercom on the left for entry..reception is on the 3rd floor.

My biggest issue was the rooms were very warm and to my delight the windows opened however the street that my room faced was VERY loud, so it was a constant battle between being awake due to overheating or being awake because of constant noise. The hotel was nice but I would not stay here again.

The first impression was really bad. It is in the middle of the city—very crowded and dirty. However, the hotel is very well located, and I felt safe. There were a lot of police officers around.

We had the most amazing experience at Hotel Matilde. Everything was superb, from check in to check out. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is perfect for exploring the Spanish Quarter and is only a 10 minute walk to the historic centre. The hotel itself is stunning, we loved our room and the facilities were superb. The breakfast is amazing, one of the best we ever had. The fresh pastries are wonderful. I can say we appreciated every moment of our stay. The staff restaurant suggestions were also very, very good. Naples is an incredible city and I really do recommend Hotel Matilde for a stay.

Excellent hotel right in the heart of Naples. Don’t let the entrance fool you. It may be a little hard to find but the hotel gave excellent directions to the small elevator off of Via Toledo, a pedestrian only street, to access the hotel. Once the elevators doors open you will access a chic hotel with superior service, lovely rooms with good soundproofing given all of the activity on the streets just outside. The free breakfast was terrific each morning. Many good restaurants and shopping just a few steps outside. The port is only a 10 minute easy walk to hop on a ferry to Capri.

Small quiet property on the first floor of a larger building, located on a small piazza off a pedestrian street accessible to multiple stores and restaurants. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was varied. The room was very clean with several amenities. I highly suggested.

Modern hotel with spacious rooms. Almost brand new. Location is central to the port and tours. Only downside is getting there or picked up. Arrived on a Sunday evening and it was a zoo and our driver couldn’t get us close. Had to walk with my 81 year old father and two big bags.

Staff is wonderful too. There is an elevator and you need a dime during the day but the staff gives you the money.

Hotel was such a gem. It's in a hot spot with walkable everything, dining, shopping, and activity tours. It's a bit difficult to find the hotel entrance so I recommend using Google maps (assuming you have internet or download offline map in advance) & then ask someone when map says you arrived or are near because you will likely not know entrance is hotel entrance. Looks rugged if not used to the graffiti environment of Naples which I wasn't from California but after getting used to the area. We realized it was great area...a favorite for tourist spot. Breakfast was included and staff spoke English so they were very helpful! I'm so glad we stayed here!! Highly recommend.

The way up to the hotel is honestly horrible. When you’re inside de hotel it’s okay, but having to pay 10 cents to use an elevator, the building is kind off sketchy. We felt a little weird when entering the property. The street where it is located is very dirty and there’s homeless people there.

Front desk staff were helpful and accommodating. The area is very busy with shoppers and there are lots of shops and restaurants within feet of the hotel. The entrance to the building is difficult to find but inside is very new and well maintained. Overall, would certainly recommend for anyone looking to shop or sightsee in Naples.

Decent \"business like\" hotel in very convenient location. Definitely would not describe it as a luxury hotel: case in point breakfast as pretty sparse, no coffee offered, tried getting a glass of wine at 10pm and was told \"I can't leave the desk and my colleague will only come in 1h, so maybe you can get back then?\". Mind you bar is literally 5 meters from the check in desk.

On the plus side :
Hotel room is very clean, bed very comfortable and really close to walking attractions.

You can do a lot worse than this hotel, but it's not a luxury lifestyle hotel, it's a good Holiday Inn Express

We had a wonderful stay at Matilde! The property itself is spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained, with big, comfortable rooms that make you feel right at home. The location could not be better—you’re within walking distance of everything you’d want to see in Naples. From here, it’s easy to explore the historic center, the vibrant Spanish Quarter (where you’ll find the famous Diego Maradona mural), and countless charming streets full of life.

One of the highlights is, of course, the food—Naples is the birthplace of pizza, and you truly get to experience the very best here. Around the property, there are endless options, from authentic trattorias to world-renowned pizzerias. It felt like every meal was a highlight!

The service at Matilde is warm and welcoming, and you can really tell the hosts care about making your stay comfortable and memorable. Whether you’re here for sightseeing, history, or simply to eat the best pizza in Italy, this is the perfect base to experience Naples. Highly recommend!

When I checked in they informed me that I had options for a welcome drink. I could choose a beverage from the mini bar in the room or have a drink from the lobby bar. The room power is off until you are in the room, and requires a key card, which means that there is no AC in the room when you are not present, the mini fridge is off and room temperature when you arrive, and there is an odor due to the humidity. The windows open, but they tell you not to open them due to the heat and humidity. There was a variety of breakfast options. They offered suggestions for area dining and shopping options. Taxi service is available in the attached building, but it does require walking outside to reach. The door locks on the main level / street entrance, and there is a buzzer for different tenants and businesses on the left side of the doors to help you enter the building. The elevator has a coin operated machine to activate, but it does not need money to operate. The location is very convenient on a main shopping street within a beautiful building.

Good hotel, hard to find, not accessible by taxi

The hotel is very well located, and seems to be recently rennovated. The rooms are a bit small, but still comfortable. The showers are amazing after a hot day in Naples, and for that I would recommend, but there are a few 'gotcha's about this place. For one, it is not accesible by taxi, so you should expect to walk with your luggage to reach the hotel entrance. Many taxis can't find it, and even when you're on the street it's not quite clear where the hotel is. You need to then find a buzzer button with the hotel name which is hardly visible, and hope you get buzzed in and find your way up to the hotel's floor with a very old and small elevator. I was hoping that the hotel would have sent instructions before my arrival, but somehow I didn't receive any so I was relying on photos from other travellers and images on google maps to figure it out for myself. Breakfast was good, but the coffee leaves something to be desired. Spend a few euros across the street and get a real coffee at Gambrinus to start your day right.

This is a city property that you can reach after the taxi leaves you about 2 blocks from the hotel. This is why you are in a very special area! Don't fear the short walk because the hotel is a nice, renovated gem inside a 300-year-old building!

The restaurants and shopping are everywhere around this hotel!

The room is a little oasis with all the comfort you expect!

The breakfast is modest but very filling!

I recommend this property for its location and comfort!

Nice hotel but you need earplugs

Nice modern style hotel just outside of the Galleria Umberto. Hotel is in a great location with shopping and transit nearby. The bed linens and towels were all clean with no marks. I did see a few ants in the bathroom but nothing too alarming. The breakfast is boring, but thankfully when I had early tours scheduled they let me grab a few things before 0730 so I wouldn’t starve. All the staff are really nice and helpful. My only issue would be the noise from the street and front desk at night. Even with ear plugs it was hard to sleep due to the traffic on the street Via Toledo and the restaurant directly below my window. The reception area can be loud as well if there’s a phone call or people talking. There was also a strange knocking sound every night around 3am, but I couldn’t tell exactly where it was coming from.

A little like Charles Jarrott's Lost Horizon of 1973, this Shangri-la was somewhat difficult to locate. But once found it does not disappoint. A boutiques hotel sitting centrally on Via Toledo and next to Galleria Umberto, you actually look out into the Galleria through your room window. Step out and within 50 steps you are swept away by the human current of this ever bustly shopping district.
But good location is just one facet of this gem. The rooms are spacious by European standard. It has a good size shower cubicle. A bidet is a surprise and welcome inclusion.
The ever polite and seeking-to-please reception staff are second to none in providing directions, local knowledge and wise tips.
The included breakfast is not opulent but a welcome wholesome meal after you have had too much of the decadent treats on Via Toledo and wanted to slow down a bit. The breakfast staff are also ever obliging, fulfilling custom coffee requests and providing take-away services such as when they gave us two huge bags of food for the road when we rushed to catch the ferry to Positano.
If your expectations aren't over the top, Shangri-la is what you get when you stay with them.

Sleek and stylish comfort in a safe and popular area in Naples! Extremely clean and very modern once you get past the ground floor entrance to what appears to be an older apartment building. The Matilde Hotel is located on the second floor (corresponding to the first floor above the ground floor in Europe). Buzz yourself in, take the elevator or stairs up one floor and you will find yourself in a transformed and completely modern hotel with large, spacious rooms and the best showers and water pressure we experienced in our 20 days of traveling through southern Italy. The bed was extremely comfortable. A very hospitable staff, Anna at the front desk in particular. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious; they even packed a breakfast box for our early morning departure. Some of the rooms face a busy pedestrian shopping street but we were not bothered by the noise, which seemed muffled by pretty good soundproofing.
Naples is a big gritty city; the Matilde Hotel made our stay a delight! Highly recommended!

This is one of the loudest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff is wonderful. However, the room sits over an open area outdoor mall that is open all night. There is yelling, skateboarding, and loud nightlife that NEVER stops. Sleeping is impossible.earplugs help but not enough. It was a very restless three days.

The property itself was fantastic inside; however, it is very hard to find and access and when we arrived the outdoor areas surrounding the hotel were littered with trash due to the Napoli soccer celebration. The actual entrance to the hotel isn’t clearly marked and one has to take a very small elevator up one floor to get to the lobby. For those arriving, please know that you need to pay a small fee with coins to use the elevator. The staff was very kind and helpful once inside and the room was gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious.

This hotel was beautiful and modern and the staff were so kind and professional. The hotel is based in a historical building which is also a shopping centre so there would be some noise up to 1am but that’s something that really can’t be helped.
The hotel was very clean and there were good amenities - I also found the bed to be very comfortable which is a bonus because it can take some time to adjust to a hotel bed.
The location is excellent and very close to the key tourist attractions and metro stations if you need to use.

We had difficulty finding the entrance when we first arrived, but the front desk staff came out to show us the way in. You enter the hotel through a small alley that seemed a bit rough at first, but we had no problems at all while we were there. It has easy access to taxis and public transportation.

Despite ordering the room for 3 people (2+1) we got the double room. The time was almost 12 am. We were tired after the long flight. The guy on reception explained that I ordered the room for the couple and didn’t asked (!!) another bed. After the long checks and discussion with the manager we got the room we ordered originally (sleeping 3 people). At the checkout they asked us to to pay spare 50 euro for the room, despite I ordered it originally. Pour service. Not recommended,

Couldn't be better. The staff went out of their ways to best help their guests. Carmine and Anna were extremely helpful. They are not only doing daily business but showed they really care about us. Not only did they helped arrange a day tour for us aling the Amalfi coast, make multiple phone calls to work out a delivery problem for me, Carmine also reached out to see if the elder needed anything when being left alone to rest in hotel when I was out. And the rest staff also all tried their best to optimize our experience. I'm truly touched by their dedication. A big THANK YOU!

Do not recommend staying here. While the location of the hotel is close to the Spanish Quarters, the hotel entrance itself is not well located. It is in an alley that is not well lit for safety for individuals or women in particular accessing it alone. The entrance is not very accessible, including the very small, coin operated elevator which poses a challenge for check-in/out with luggage (hotel provides coin). The room itself was dirty, lots of hair on the floor of the bathroom. For the price and “4 star” rating, it did not meet expectations.

I loved how friendly and professional everyone in the staff team is. The hotel is nicely located if you want to be close to the main shopping areas of Naples and walk to the Chiaia neighborhood for other upscale shopping and dining experiences, too. Clean and in a central location with a good breakfast.

Only cocnern is the entrance is on a dark side street and you have to ring a buzzer like an apartment to be buzzed into hotel as the hotel is on the 2nd floor of an apartmenr building. This can be unsettling at night for single female travllers.

Great hotel

Excellent stay. The staff were so helpful and kind. The rooms were lovely, clean and with very comfortable beds. Ideal central location for exploring Naples and beyond. Lovely restaurants close by.
