The setting is lush and beautiful. We loved how serene the location was, while still being in close proximity to everything we wanted to do locally. Our visit to the Seattle area was to spend time with our youngest who lives near Mill Creek. The hotel proved to be the ideal spot.
Our room was on the smaller side, but still very comfortable and well-appointed. The bed was super comfortable and the tea kettle with assorted teas was a nice touch. Everything was very clean!

The hotel itself is good and the staff is very friendly, but I can't give a positive review when a 4:00 PM check-in turns into a 5:00 PM check-in. It’s frustrating to see check-in times getting later and later across the industry, and then not even have the room ready by that late hour. For a one-night stay, losing that first hour of the evening really impacted the trip.

Everyone was so nice and very accomodating to our requests. The food was delicious, although we felt the menu was limited in selections, many of which we did not know really what it was. The building and grounds are fabulous with lots of walking trals, unique history, and lots of showcasing of art. we loved the library!

Its a beautiful property, exceedingly quiet and clean. It isn't near much in terms of activities and things to do. Lovely place to go spend time with family and have a quiet time. I did not like the light in bathroom goes on automatically in the night when you get up, wakes everyone in the room up. Great comfy beds as well.

We booked a king room and arrived at 4pm for check-in. The staff explained the room wasn’t ready, but they were apologetic, offered drink coupons, and promised to call when it was available. We had an event to attend, so this seemed fine. When we returned at 9pm, not only had no one called, but we were told there were no king rooms available at all. To their credit, they offered us a queen room, promised to work with Expedia for a 50% refund, and sent a bottle of wine to the room. The room itself was comfortable, but I wasn’t able to sleep well due to a buzzing and flashing light from the thermostat every minute or so, which kept me up for over an hour.
The next morning we tried to have breakfast in the restaurant. It wasn’t full, but it still took about 40 minutes just to place an order. The waiter was kind, apologetic and brought us juice, but the food was so delayed we had to request it to-go. He admitted one of our dishes had been given to another table, so we left with only one item.
Even with these issues, we checked out giving the benefit of the doubt since the hotel was hosting a wedding. What has been most disappointing, however, is the refund they promised. Weeks passed and nothing was processed. I called to follow up, explained the situation, and was told they would handle it and get back to me. It has now been over two weeks since that call, and I still haven’t received the refund or any communication. A hotel of this caliber shouldn't have this many issues.

Check in lady was a sweetheart. Gave us free drinks because our room wasn't ready. Room 502 wasn't haunted, but there was a loud exhaust fan outside our window. Free earplugs at the front desk! Fish and chips were delish. Lots of arches and bedazzles. Beautiful surroundings and trails.

This would have been a great experience - had we not had to change rooms two times in the middle of the night on the same night due to 1) fire alarm randomly going off at 1am in our room and 2) other odd noises in the 2nd room which we were moved out of around 4am.

Management never acknowledged or apologized for the disruption and the fact that we weren't able to get a good night's sleep.

We most likely will not be staying here again because of the poor customer service. Note if you do stay here for an extended period, there is a grocery store nearby but it's a bit of a drive to get to restaurants.

My partner and I are long-time locals who decided to stay here for a special celebration. The Lodge is located in the heart of a dense urban area on property that used to be a seminary. The seminary buildings have beautifully restored and are surrounded by acres of forests with walking trails to the beach. Everything was lovely and quiet. The avocado toast was superb. The staff was warm and friendly. Will return again soon.

This is the second time I stay here and have been very dissatisfied with the temperature of the room. It was way too warm for us! Almost impossible to sleep, even with them bringing a fan to the room. It still didn’t drop the temperature in the room… unbearable during summer month, the first time we came was in February so I only had to open up the windows to let the winter air in to cool off but this time there was no reprieve. For the price that you pay for a room here I would expect to be ultra comfortable. They did offer me a new room, but when we went to it, it was even warmer than the room we were already in. The lovely lady at the counter offered me a small credit, which at least was something but sadly, I never actually got the credit on my billing statement so I ended up paying full price for being completely miserable the entire night. My only other complaint is that the service in the restaurant for breakfast both times also was terrible… Very slow, you have to wait forever for somebody to even seat you and then you sit at the table for a very long time waiting for somebody to address you and then waiting for your food is another very long wait… Just too much.

The location is excellent, close to everything we needed, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with well-maintained landscaping and lovely hiking trails. We also really enjoyed the food, it was surprisingly good, great customer service with a nice selection and quality ingredients. They have a library with books, games, and snacks. We loved that part of the hotel it was a little treat! The rooms were decent but not without issues. The bed/pillows were amazing! Our room didn’t have a fridge, which was inconvenient, and the ice bucket was too small to be of much use. The worst part, though, was finding a gigantic spider, bigger than a half dollar sitting on a bath towel right after getting out of the shower. Definitely crazy to experience and unsettling. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the spa. It was minimal in amenities and to say the least…far from relaxing. I paid $200 for a massage that left me in more pain, soreness, and emotionally drained than when I arrived. To make matters worse, the male massage therapist wouldn’t stop talking throughout the session, about himself, different techniques for me to use because of how “bad of shape my body was also telling me some kind of condition in my back” which completely ruined the experience. It felt more like an awkward conversation of what I need to change and what I’ve been doing wrong with my body and mind than a peaceful escape. Honestly, it was the worst spa experience.

Loved the seclusion and natural environment. The architecture and art displays were very nice. It would be helpful to have dresser drawers to unpack clothing into. One day our wet towels were not removed from the bathroom. If this is an environmental conservation effort, it would be nice to have that communicated more overtly. Really enjoyed our stay and look for to return.

Great location, clean and well-designed room. I really appreciate the small thing like having a water kettle in the room to make tea or hot water. I loved the view outside of our window, the green meadow just so relaxing. I loved that the hotel is pet-friendly, they delivered a dog bed, bowls, and a small bag of treats to welcome my dod - such a nice touch. In addition, the hotel location is next to most beautiful trail that leads to the lake - a medium .68 mile trail that you'd hear bird singing and deer sighting (if going at dusk). Cedar and Elm restaurant had delicious food, we were able to enjoy with our dogs - table on the patio on a warm Pacific Northwest's day - gorgeous setting, yummy food, and great service, what else can you ask for. You really feel like you are being transported to an English country side - staying here. I'd love to stay here again if we are up here in the future.

A Gem!

Had a short but lovely stay at this unique property. The customer service was excellent at every encounter. We arrived super early and the receptionist expedited our room and went out of her way to ensure that we were comfortable until the room was ready. Loved how the atmosphere reflected the hotel’s heritage, and its location within the St Edward State Park is exceptional.

This historic Lodge is framed by a most stunning St. Edward’s State Park. With over 300 acres of forest Trails, trees, picnic tables, Beautiful playground. Lake Washington close by. Even before our arrival, Dave The on-site manager made arrangements for me to combine two reservations and check in late morning. The room was well appointed with beautiful windows overlooking the forest. Cedar and Elm was a lovely restaurant with five star quality service and food. Even a broom service was gourmet and you could choose on the app from specialty coffees drinks. In the morning our room service included, freshly baked, beautiful chocolate, croissants, banana bread, oatmeal just excellent.

This lodge is so idyllic, peaceful, beautiful. The Saint Edward State Park gracefully adorns and surrounds this beautiful, sweet, comfortable gorgeous art filled stunning property. The restaurant, the coffee café, and room service are all exceptional five star quality. In fact, when I ordered room service last night, I ordered what I thought was a small meal. It would’ve been enough for three people. This is an exceptional retreat place for couples family or corporate very well run and efficient. I will be returning many times in the future.

Beautifully appointed facility given it was a seminary before being remodeled. Extensive art display was impressive. Staff, food and service very good. Rooms need some help. No dressers. We had to ask for a foldout luggage holder and a hair dryer. Our other suitcase remained on the floor. Stairs leading us to our room after we got off on the third floor were hard to navigate with our luggage. We should have been informed. Otherwise a good experience. A bit pricey but still acceptable for a special occasion.

The Lodge is a beautiful, quality property. The library is a fantastic place to hang out, with books, games, tv, complimentary snacks & multiple, very clean bathrooms. The room was spacious and clean, the beds/pillows were the most comfortable ones I've ever slept on/with at any hotel. The bathroom had double sinks, spacious and very clean. The restaurant was elegant yet comfortable, the food in the bar (burgers/fries, flatbread) were the best tasting ever. We only stayed 1 night, so no time to use all the equipment they have to lend to enjoy all the property and state park it's on. Would highly recommend more than 1 night; you'd have a great rest, an amazing meal and wouldn't need to go very far to enjoy all the fun activities the property and park have to offer.

There was an odd “vibrating” sound that would occur around 6-8 times an hour in the room. The a/c unit on the ceiling had a loose cover that would hang. The toilet ran for a bit as well. These made it hard to sleep.

Property is beautiful! Went and stayed for a wedding. Rooms are beautiful. But the staff was very rude specially at the bars. I won’t go back. For the price service should be better. I will go back for maybe a dinner reservation but not to stay. For the cost, there is no pool or amenities. There are better places to stay. Cool environment for the one time.

I loved how quiet it was. Not a lot of foot traffic either so it was peaceful to do my own thing. I could go on a walk or relax at the spa. Wonderful little spot for a get away if you are looking for a slower pace vacation. Highly recommended if you are looking to relax from the loud atmosphere of the city.
