Everyone was very pleasant and professional, but the smell of weed was unpleasant (to us). but not anything that would change my rating of the hotel. our room did not smell, just the lobby.

The location of the hotel was extremely convenient. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and attractive. The continental breakfast was good. I was disappointed with the pillows and the mattress. There were no pillows firm enough for side sleeping. I had to use a bath towel to give the pillow some substance. The mattress also did not have movement isolation and moved greatly whenever one person moved a little bit.

The outside of this historic hotel is stunning. I could tell someone put effort into the interior design but I don’t know, it felt a bit generic and sterile to me. I found it odd that the bar was closed on Monday.

It’s a charming hotel but in my superior room the bathroom sink was broken (drain stopper stuck), the safe was stuck locked, the clock radio didn’t play music, there was no USB-c outlet to charge i also couldn’t turn the heat above 75 but there was only one vent I noticed so it was just drafty. The bed wasn’t uncomfortable but i was hoping for better. In the end for the price it was reasonable but I was a little disappointed.

When we first walked in the room there was an ozone machine running which I assume was there for odor purposes but these are very dangerous to utilize in an occupied space so i unplugged it then I noticed there was half eaten take out food left in one of the cabinets which smelled terrible. We had to leave the room and give it a chance to clear. The bathroom was very cold for morning showers and the morning breakfast ran out of coffee and bagels. It is a quaint building with character but could use better oversight in my opinion

This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. It was a short stay, I was in for one night, but from the moment I walked through the door I could tell I was going to like it. The staff was great, the drinks at Max's were well mixed, but the room, wow, just an incredible room and layout. I could live there full time. All of the rooms were huge. Not the tiny little boxes you find in NYC. These we're or felt like) 100-150 square foot rooms. Even the bathroom was big. And we were on the 6th floor so we had great views of the surrounding area. It's a good location too so my wife and I walked to whatever we wanted to do/see. I'll be staying longer next time.

The Goodwin is a beautiful hotel. The staff was kind and helpful. The valet staff was nice, as well. The room was nice; however, the area of town is VERY noisy. Since it is an older hotel, the soundproofing is lacking.

The air conditioning was great. The room was nice and chill. They have large fluffy towels and plenty of them. The staff is always friendly and has good energy. The hotel also always smells great. The down side of this trip was that we paid a lot more for the room than we have before because there was a lot going on in Hartford. This was our 6th visit. It is our go to place when we go to see our son at college. We will be back in a week.

This was a very nice hotel. Historic. Renovared. Lots of character and decor. Would give it 5 of 5 but for two odd things and two things of note. The odd things are no coffee in the room. They have tea and you can request a french press. And no hair dryer is in the room. Firsts for me for both. The notes are that the breakfast is exceedingly limited and there is not a full kitchen; the restaurant has a limited selection of bar plates. I would stay there again, and recommend it, but be advised one must venture out of the room for coffee unless you know how to work a french press.

Didn't care for the area though, I was racially discriminated against just standing out on the sidewalk along Asylum street. This is a boutique hotel with clean and designed room. I specially liked their bathroom design. Very elegant. I think the location is good for taking Amtrak at the Union station. The city was quiet on Sunday with rare people and not too many stores opened. The hotel stay made me feel safe and enjoyed. The front desk staff also borrowed me a type C cord for my iPhone and told me where was possible to buy the cord. Very helpful! I enjoyed the pleasant stay in a strange downtown of Hartford

The staff is so helpful and kind! The hotel was VERY clean. A couple of things to note. There is not breakfast, BUT there is a coffee and tea bar with a different variety of foods such as muffins, yogurts, oatmeal, and fruit! If you are a water drinker, they have free water at reception or they have water for purchase in rooms. Overall, a great stay though!

I booked a room weeks in advance for the Capitol Groove Music Festival that was conveniently held 2 blocks away from the hotel at Bushnell Park. I got to the Goodwin hotel at about 11am and I was surprised I was able to get valet parking and leave my bag at the front desk before the 3pm check-in time. Every staff member was very friendly.
