The reason for my poor review is that my daughter left her iPods in the room, and we soon discovered through FindMy that they were taken to a nearby address in Hartford. They were never removed from the room by us, so they were certainly removed by someone at the hotel. I reported this via phone to staff members, who assured I’d be called back, and I wasn’t. Then I tried sending a message through their website and got no response. I am really disappointed by this level of customer service in what otherwise seemed to be a nice hotel. It’s shocking to me that no one would even follow up, even if just to apologize.

The hotel was very clean. Staff were friendly. Housekeeping was very nice. The continental breakfast was okay, I was hopeful for bit more options. The main elevator was under maintenance but alter service elevator was available. Waking distance to State Capitol building and performing arts.
I got lost looking for the entrance coming from the back side through Goodwin Square; maybe clear signage at that end will be helpful for others. Overall very nice, and clean with hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Sadly, our stay at the Goodwin was neither Good nor a Win.
They put us in a \"deluxe\" room with an interior window overlooking – wait for it – a ridiculously loud and obnoxious wedding that blared live music until after 11pm.
When we for obvious reasons complained they put us in another room, so we had to spend over an hour of our last evening in Hartford packing and moving into different accommodations with two double beds instead of the King we had booked. (Despite having to be on the road for an 8 hour drive the next day.)
Protips to guests: Under no circumstances should you agree to have one of these horrible interior rooms that overlooks their event space. ASK THEM, because for some reason they don't disclose this either on their site when you book or in person when you check in. They prefer to pretend it's not a massive problem and make you complain first.
To the Goodwin: Stop putting people in these rooms on nights when there is an event. It's a known issue which you refuse to be transparent about with your guests, which is not only utterly insane, but disrespectful in the extreme. Do better.
We hope the hotel chooses to make this right as soon as possible. For the egregious price we paid for the room, this is completely unacceptable on any level. Be warned.

We would stay here again we absolutely loved the decor. It was modern funky and grand. We love the bar downstairs with the adorable DJ. She was amazing. I don’t know her name, but we love the music and her vibe. Great location, great price, comfortable bed, clean room.

Valet returned my Tesla with a beverage spilled and dried to my white passenger seat after I just paid to detail the car before this trip. When I pointed it out to front desk she did immediately refund ONE day of parking however my vehicle should not have had anyone drinking in it and that beverage sat there stinking up my car for 2 fill days.

Hotel room fridge was not cleaned out and a previous guests leftovers were still in it. I was told someone from management would call me to discuss but nobody did.

The mattress in the room is old and outdated and did not measure up to my expectation for this type of hotel.

We were really looking forward to our stay. For a high end luxury hotel our room and parts of the hotel we walked through were quite scratched up, dented and not in great shape. I went use a guest robe and there was a big hairball in the sleeve. And then the day we arrived we had come from a specialty bakery where we bought $75 worth of baked goods to take home to share with family and friends—however we went out for the day and put the do not disturb sign on the door— when we got back later that day our room had been “touched up” and our entire bag of baked goods was gone. We had left our bags open as well because we weren’t planning on having our room cleaned that day— so the overall experience felt very violating. Lastly, they have no guest parking. We will definitely never stay here again.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the room was extremely clean. However, the hotel itself is quite old and could use some updating. My room had only one very small window, which wasn’t ideal and made me feel a bit anxious.

Overall, it’s a good option considering its convenient location and reasonable price.

Had an awful room on the top floor that only had one window that was maybe 2’ x 2’ big. It’s not like the hotel was sold out so I’m not sure why they put me in what was a glorified closet. I was exhausted and just didn’t have the energy to complain.

Room was spacious and clean. No desk or chair in the room is not great if you need to do any work. Also during our stay, at least in the room WiFi wasn’t available. Also, room wasn’t cleaned when we returned late in the afternoon so overall not a great experience. Additionally, there was no breakfast available other than a little table stocked with a few plain bagels and sad muffins. Was in a dark section in front of the bar area, leaving a ‘dingy’ impression - so we grabbed breakfast elsewhere.

FYI incase it matters for others- everything is hard surface, EVP, Tile, ect- so sound does carry from room to room/ people walking in heels on the tile hallway floors. It didn't bother us, but it did wake me up a time or two.

Also Pot is legal in Hartford, so the lobby, the workers, the town in general smelt like marijuana. (if you're from out of town thats weird to experience). Everyone was very pleasant and professional, but the smell of weed was unpleasant (to us). but not anything that would change my rating of the hotel. our room did not smell, just the lobby.

hotel is within walking distance of the train station- which is why we chose it.

continental breakfast was waffles w/ syrup, yogurt, coffee and muffins. so if you're looking for something a little heartier- plan to go out.

The location of the hotel was extremely convenient. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and attractive. The continental breakfast was good. I was disappointed with the pillows and the mattress. There were no pillows firm enough for side sleeping. I had to use a bath towel to give the pillow some substance. The mattress also did not have movement isolation and moved greatly whenever one person moved a little bit.

It’s a charming hotel but in my superior room the bathroom sink was broken (drain stopper stuck), the safe was stuck locked, the clock radio didn’t play music, there was no USB-c outlet to charge i also couldn’t turn the heat above 75 but there was only one vent I noticed so it was just drafty. The bed wasn’t uncomfortable but i was hoping for better. In the end for the price it was reasonable but I was a little disappointed.

When we first walked in the room there was an ozone machine running which I assume was there for odor purposes but these are very dangerous to utilize in an occupied space so i unplugged it then I noticed there was half eaten take out food left in one of the cabinets which smelled terrible. We had to leave the room and give it a chance to clear. The bathroom was very cold for morning showers and the morning breakfast ran out of coffee and bagels. It is a quaint building with character but could use better oversight in my opinion

This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. It was a short stay, I was in for one night, but from the moment I walked through the door I could tell I was going to like it. The staff was great, the drinks at Max's were well mixed, but the room, wow, just an incredible room and layout. I could live there full time. All of the rooms were huge. Not the tiny little boxes you find in NYC. These we're or felt like) 100-150 square foot rooms. Even the bathroom was big. And we were on the 6th floor so we had great views of the surrounding area. It's a good location too so my wife and I walked to whatever we wanted to do/see. I'll be staying longer next time.

The Staff at the hotel are polite and helpful. For those with an allergy to synthetic fabrics, the bedding/body/facial/hand towels are 100% Cotton. Didn’t have a chance to dine at Bar Max, but it looks cools.

Our go to place in Hartford

The air conditioning was great. The room was nice and chill. They have large fluffy towels and plenty of them. The staff is always friendly and has good energy. The hotel also always smells great. The down side of this trip was that we paid a lot more for the room than we have before because there was a lot going on in Hartford. This was our 6th visit. It is our go to place when we go to see our son at college. We will be back in a week.

This was a very nice hotel. Historic. Renovared. Lots of character and decor. Would give it 5 of 5 but for two odd things and two things of note. The odd things are no coffee in the room. They have tea and you can request a french press. And no hair dryer is in the room. Firsts for me for both. The notes are that the breakfast is exceedingly limited and there is not a full kitchen; the restaurant has a limited selection of bar plates. I would stay there again, and recommend it, but be advised one must venture out of the room for coffee unless you know how to work a french press.

The staff members were very attentive and very respectful. 5 stars to them, give those fine folks a raise!!! Didn't care for the area though, I was racially discriminated against just standing out on the sidewalk along Asylum street. I dont plan on ever coming back to Hartford but if by some act of God, I had to c9me back no matter what, Id stay at the Goodwin.

That’s the positive. The rest, nothing to write home about, bar was rowdy and not cozy, reception staff simply awful. Watching tik tok videos on the job. Breakfast is just a take out coffee but coffee ran out and none remade, shower super slippery, room wasbtreat but almost too big with nothing in it. Anyhow hotel is nothing special and not worth the money but in the sea of miserable Hartford hotels, it’s probably one of the bette ones

This is a boutique hotel with clean and designed room. I specially liked their bathroom design. Very elegant. I think the location is good for taking Amtrak at the Union station. The city was quiet on Sunday with rare people and not too many stores opened. The hotel stay made me feel safe and enjoyed. The front desk staff also borrowed me a type C cord for my iPhone and told me where was possible to buy the cord. Very helpful! I enjoyed the pleasant stay in a strange downtown of Hartford
