My two sons and I stayed for a night. Perfect location. Close by all the shops. Check in process was nice and easy. Staff were very professional and friendly. Hotel itself was clean and the ambiance of lobby was 10/10. The rooms were clean, bright, and pretty spacious for a hotel in NYC. We will definitely be staying here again!!

The hot water ran out in the evening. When I checked in, I was assured I could stay in my room with two different reservations. When I went to check out, I was told I had to switch rooms and re-check back in. Absolutely nothing was offered for the major inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much good to say about our recent stay at this hotel. The room itself was nice and clean. Getting warm water in the shower took quite a long time and still didn’t get very warm. My biggest issue is the lack of transparency with the staff and hotel. Upon arrival we were given two $25 “vouchers” for food/drink to be used during our stay. The vouchers could not be used together and had to be used on separate days. These vouchers are not “free” or a gift as were presented to us. There is a $25 resort fee you are charged per day, and that was not disclosed until after check in. The biggest issue we had was their lack of support in resolving an issue.. with the massive blizzard headed to New York we decided to leave a day early. We talked with staff about possibly getting some sort of refund for the day we would not be at the hotel. We were not met with sympathy, we were told because we booked “the right way” there was nothing they could do. They said they would waive the “early check out fee” of $200.. well that wasn’t true.. my credit card was charged as soon as we left. Poor conflict resolution, and staff that wasn’t sympathetic to the situation we were in. Which is unfortunate because the actual hotel seems nice.

The hotel is beautiful, clean, glamorous and has an elegance to it. The bar and restaurant were great. The manager on site was good (Miranda) and handled our issues politely and well. The hotel staff definitely need more training on customer service and guest relations. The hotel also needs to sort out and fix a faulty alarm that had us walking down 24 flights of steps at 3am in the morning. We were told that it was a drill, but the alarm went off 3 more times in the following days and elevators shut down. Less than acceptable in terms of operations. I would stay again since location was good and great shops near by. It’s right next to the Apollo Theater. Some staff members were great in the restaurant, but hotel staff need improvement. No smiles from one particular staff member at the front desk who seems to hate her job and was less than accommodating. Overall, we stayed for 10 days and felt that we got our monies worth in terms of the nightly rate. Views from room were awesome and the room was spacious and clean. Had to triple request some items, like towels, toilet paper etc and ask for the room to be cleaned since we were simply skipped some days. It’s a true gem for Harlem, I hope that training and service can be improved to make it a landmark that remains for many years to come. Entertainment in restaurant was great too!!

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now, while traveling for work. It’s mostly been a really pleasant option. The room and shower were clean— no mold, stains or thick dust. The hotel is still new and well-taken care of. The restaurant food could use improvement, especially with the required resort fee and prices. The staff were helpful and kind. The views over Harlem are cool, but they should totally remove “Central park view” from the room options. It’s totally misleading. I’ll be staying again.

This was my second time staying at Renaissance. I loved the cleanliness of the hotel, how quiet my floor was especially considering I was by the elevator. My bathroom ceiling started leaking and I called the front desk to report it. I got a little push back from the receptionist but someone came immediately and rectified the situation. I appreciated the letter which offered additional assistance. I’d definitely stay here again as it is in a convenient location for me and has a cute lounge area w good food, music and drinks!

My room was not properly cleaned. One of the days the house keeper did not leave towels and when I called for towels the wash cloths were like they were from someone’s home. Very cheap and had spots on them and the towels had hair. I was very disappointed this trip. This was the second time I stayed and if the first time was like this I would have never gone back.

Good property and would stay here again. Traveling with family of 4, room wasn’t quite ready on arrival but only had to wait an hour or so. Room was on the smallish side but clean and beds were comfortable. Kory at the bar was great! Easy walk to the 125th St subway station to get downtown. Good location with some fast food restaurants nearby.

The only thing I don’t like is the $200 deposit and then they give you a $25 coupon to use per day of stay at their restaurant and everything on the menu is overpriced, so you end up spending more than the $25. $16 for French fries is crazy!

The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean, except for a top shelf in the closet. It was dusty, but you had to be tall as I am to see the dust. Also I had to turn of the heat at night as the system is very noisy; a real deterrent to sleep. Ice maker on my floor was empty for two days or out of order.
I will still return to the Renaissance again. Great Location

The room was clean, but could use some updates. The bathroom has pocket doors for the shower and toilet. The sink area only has a curtain. Front desk was friendly, housekeeping left us without toilet paper and took our extra clean towels that we had requested the day before. Last night we were there had no hot water and still none in the morning. Hotel was fine if you aren’t going to be there much, near subway station to get downtown. Area was a little sketchy at night.

I left my room and came back and grabbed my door handle and was able to get into my room without a key when I called the engineer showed up and it locked when he was there so I felt kind of silly because it did happen just not in front of him...
I had someone send me flowers to the hotel at 1:55 in the morning after my long flight and ride to Harlem the front desk called me and asked me to go down from the 22nd floor to the 5th floor at 155am to get the arrangement…I waited until morning.
I ordered room service the food was cold and my ice cream completely melted!!! Checking in is very strange after a long flight I got to the hotel I walked in and the 5th floor is a restaurant and bar and everyone was dressed up and it’s super crowded with the luggage and and the elevator waiting area and people trying to get through to use the restrooms from the restaurant very narrow area for all the unused seating areas they have. Also the check in is very unimpressive and uninviting. The final straw was I was leaving my room again and the door didn’t lock I was smart this time and took a video of it. Also the bathroom is cute but when I got there the doors were closed and when I opened them the sewer gas was so gross and strong smelling. Also there are apparently people who live in the building permanently but not attached but I could see into their homes and one on the 20th floor had a completely smashed window with glass missing it look slightly terrifying! Minus 10 score

Lovely windows and not a bad view; howevr, the street and store lights shone through room flimpsy curtains. Three a.m. it appeared to be 6:30 a.m. There was no privacy in out bathroom - very challenging when friends dropped by for a drink. Was that design by intention or an error? Placed n handicapped room and not offered a change I asked if because of the low price and told no but I wonder. Told only king bed available was the reason. He gave me. Agent was nice I was given bo options I asked for call to notify me that it was handicapped and agent didn’t answer. primarily the handicap shower set up -lots of water leaking of water into floor and no counters bathroom. Floor wet etc mat soaked etc. 2nd night shower was the factor. Never again so want to know why I was put there!

There was no way to reach the front desk prior to checking in, as no one answered the phone. Upon arrival, the room was not in acceptable condition—the curtains were extremely dusty, the blinds were broken, one of the light bulbs wasn’t working, and the toilet made noises throughout the night. Although these concerns were brought to the front desk, they were not taken seriously and none of the issues were resolved during our stay.

Additionally, the location did not feel particularly safe, especially around the front area of the hotel lobby. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel with two family members for 2 nights expecting a smooth experience in line with the Marriott brand but it was the opposite.

Upon arrival I was required to leave $200 security deposit, but it was not fully refunded, and they give me sketchy reasons for the deduction.

They charge a hidden 25$ destination fee every day you stay. And they do not tell you about it untill they charge you in the end,

They have a resort fee of $25 with no amenities. You get the money back in \"restaurant vouchers\" but they don’t make it easy to use.

This has been the worst hotel that i've stayed in, the room was not that clean, the sheets had stains on them, the coffee maker in the room was dirty, the wifi was not the best, no free breakfast for such an expensive stay, for 3 people staying in the room there was only 1 small bar handsoap.

We found a regular bottle of water in the room with a $7 tag on it. Limited and expensive food for no good reason.

Location is unpleasant after sundown.

No refrigerator in the room.

The iron was old and broken.

The only thing they had on floor 9 were I stayed was an ice maker machine.

The room was a little tired and the layout was odd. The sink was very close to the bed, and the toilet was just behind a sliding door, also near the bed. We were told we got a room upgrade, which made us shudder to think what the original room looked like!
We had breakfast and lunch at the lobby restaurant, and lunch service was good, breakfast was incredibly slow. We actually thought they lost our order, we had to ask several times to finally get it.
The staff was always pleasant and the food was good.
