His energy and vibe makes your experience unforgettable. Great hotel. 10 out of 10. I’ve recommended it to several friends and family when visiting Harlem

We needed a hotel near Columbia Univ. and were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. We had 2 rooms which were very expensive especially since this has a 4 star rating. If we needed to use a microwave it was located on a different floor but at least there was no charge. If we needed a small refrigerator (an additional charge) they also were on a different floor.
One room didn't have a closet, only one rod perpendicular to the wall with a few hangers in the bathroom. The concrete looking floor had stains all over and no carpet whatsoever in one room. Just a runner at the foot of the bed in the other. The corners were full of lint and cobwebs behind the curtains on the window sills. The restaurant was very expensive with not a very varied choice on the menu, especially for teens and children. We will never stay there again or recommend it. However, staff was very nice.

Location was perfect for us. Property was nice and the staff was excellent....attentive and thoughtful. The property is older and shows its age a bit but the overall appearance was nice. Only issue was how slow the elevators were.....one time it took 7 minutes and another time 5 minutes. All other times it was there withing a couple of minutes. The bar was lively and lots of fun.

All was good, excepting the fact that room is a bit small for 4 persons, doesn't have carpect on the floor which is surprising for a hotel in the USA and I had to request a fridge for a fee which is again surprising for a 8.8 rating 4start hotel in the USA.

The hotel was nice and the staff were wonderful, however, I have never been in a hotel where there is no privacy in the bathroom. From the bedroom you see the back of the mirror and the cabinet, but there is a space between the mirror and the cabinet for no privacy. Then the bathroom door only goes to the cabinet so a quarter of that wall is open. If you're alone, I guess it will do but it doesn't work with more than one person in the room or if you have a visitor. WTH
One last thing, I would never have booked with Expedia if I had known I wouldn't get points for my stay. No more booking with Expedia. I will book through the hotel or through Marriott Bonvoy. $1000 for 3 nights and no reward points. Never again.

This hotel is beautiful. We stayed here during a mourning time for our family. The staffwas very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean. We were given two $25 restaurant vouchers, which we didn’t get to use(We’ll take advantage next time).Our room view was from the 12th floor overseeing 125th street which was plus. The only thing I would do different is to book a room with accessibility. The bathrooms are a lot bigger than the standard room. Overall rating 4.7 out of 5.

Convenient location in a part of the city without many hotels. Close to multiple subway lines. Some might not like the immediate surroundings. No “park view” from my park view room, but interesting view of the city. Poor communication at check-in. I’d stay there again.

Friday morning, April 10 there was no hot water. I don't know how long it was out, I just know when I tried to take a shower at about 7:30am there was no hot water. I called the front desk and they were unapologetic and said there was an inspection and nothing they could do. I was given no warning, (maybe I could have showered earlier) and told that they would call me when the hot water was restored. I waited about 30 minutes but had to go, so I wiped myself down with a cold wet wash cloth. When I requested compensation they said no and were unsympathetic. I think it's unacceptable when I paid over $300 per night.

The food was great but bar staff was slow. First night had no heat and had to get maintenance to come fix. Second day, their boiler was down so had absolutely no hot water for shower.
Overall not bad stay after initial hiccups were fixed only because I stay longer than normal. If I was only there for weekend, it would have been miserable.

The hotel is nice and centrally located. Staff can use additional training in hospitality. Not at all up to the Marriott brand. Especially front desk...very disappointing. For example, I checked out early on March 28 due to not feeling well. The desk clerk on staff kept telling \"was not getting my money back\" (I never requested a refund), I requested a copy of my folio to ensure there were not any unauthorized charges...she refused.

I stayed here in December of 2025. They have tried to steal money from me twice now by charging two separate credit card for $500 dollars. The last fraudulent transaction they did was 2 weeks ago. This is 3 months after I stayed there that they are trying to steal and hoping costumers don’t notice. I’ve called numerous times, sent emails and left voicemails and I do not get any replies. Be careful staying here and make sure to check your transactions after you stay here.

Be prepared for lots of incidental charges. My booking was canceled because they tried to charge the first night prior to my arrival and did not succeed. My daughter rebooked. They refused to issue an itemized bill on check out preferring to show you the balance due on the screen. Very unprofessional in that regard. My daughter eventually used her marriot app to settle and check out.

My two sons and I stayed for a night. Perfect location. Close by all the shops. Check in process was nice and easy. Staff were very professional and friendly. Unfortunately, I don’t have much good to say about our recent stay at this hotel. The room itself was nice and clean. Getting warm water in the shower took quite a long time and still didn’t get very warm. My biggest issue is the lack of transparency with the staff and hotel. Upon arrival we were given two $25 “vouchers” for food/drink to be used during our stay. The vouchers could not be used together and had to be used on separate days. These vouchers are not “free” or a gift as were presented to us. There is a $25 resort fee you are charged per day, and that was not disclosed until after check in. The biggest issue we had was their lack of support in resolving an issue.. with the massive blizzard headed to New York we decided to leave a day early. We talked with staff about possibly getting some sort of refund for the day we would not be at the hotel. We were not met with sympathy, we were told because we booked “the right way” there was nothing they could do. They said they would waive the “early check out fee” of $200.. well that wasn’t true.. my credit card was charged as soon as we left. Poor conflict resolution, and staff that wasn’t sympathetic to the situation we were in. Which is unfortunate because the actual hotel seems nice.

The hotel is beautiful, clean, glamorous and has an elegance to it. The bar and restaurant were great. The manager on site was good (Miranda) and handled our issues politely and well. The hotel staff definitely need more training on customer service and guest relations. The hotel also needs to sort out and fix a faulty alarm that had us walking down 24 flights of steps at 3am in the morning. We were told that it was a drill, but the alarm went off 3 more times in the following days and elevators shut down. Less than acceptable in terms of operations. I would stay again since location was good and great shops near by. It’s right next to the Apollo Theater. Some staff members were great in the restaurant, but hotel staff need improvement. No smiles from one particular staff member at the front desk who seems to hate her job and was less than accommodating. Overall, we stayed for 10 days and felt that we got our monies worth in terms of the nightly rate. Views from room were awesome and the room was spacious and clean. Had to triple request some items, like towels, toilet paper etc and ask for the room to be cleaned since we were simply skipped some days. It’s a true gem for Harlem, I hope that training and service can be improved to make it a landmark that remains for many years to come. Entertainment in restaurant was great too!!

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now, while traveling for work. It’s mostly been a really pleasant option. The room and shower were clean— no mold, stains or thick dust. The hotel is still new and well-taken care of. The restaurant food could use improvement, especially with the required resort fee and prices. The staff were helpful and kind. The views over Harlem are cool, but they should totally remove “Central park view” from the room options. It’s totally misleading. I’ll be staying again.

This was my second time staying at Renaissance. I loved the cleanliness of the hotel, how quiet my floor was especially considering I was by the elevator. My bathroom ceiling started leaking and I called the front desk to report it. I got a little push back from the receptionist but someone came immediately and rectified the situation. I appreciated the letter which offered additional assistance. I’d definitely stay here again as it is in a convenient location for me and has a cute lounge area w good food, music and drinks!
