Stayed 4 nights at Banthai Village in the deluxe room near the pool. It is a cozy boutique hotel away from the bustling streets yet safe and walkable to old city, Chinatown and the night markets. Excellent hotel to enjoy quiet sleep, greenery and staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel provides mosquito repellent but still got bitten outside the room especially during rainy days. Floor in the room can be slippery but slippers are provided. Water pressure from the shower head is inconsistent. Shampoo is provided but no conditioner. Breakfast may not have a wide variety and is delicious. No lift in the hotel so for those staying at higher level, be prepared to take the stairs. Overall, comfortable stay and will recommend to those who wants a good and quiet rest.

A lovely luxury hotel outside the city walls

Immaculate room and hotel. Bed was very firm! Breakfast was mediocre. Mosquito net was only provided after 2 nights into our stay, randomly. Staff were helpful and had excellent English. Nice relaxing pool area. Great location as not in the hotter centre of town but easily walkable.

We stayed during a lull time with all the COVID travel changes. Basically had the place to ourselves. Very pleasant and helpful staff, nice location tucked away from the main round, and beautiful setting. Loved this spot. Would recommend. Close to shops and great food.

Only downside would be the beds are a little hard.

Unbelievable hidden gem in downtown yet close to everything you may want. Food, shopping, night market.Hop on a Tuk Tuk or Taxi and go anywhere from here, front or back.

Room quaint, quiet, comfortable, classic, and beautifully located in the complex with outside seating on one of two private balconies front and back.

Deep soaking tub and 360 degree moving wall to provide tv toward living area or bedroom area.

Small bar at pool where you can order delicious food from a modest menu to eat there or delivery to room.

This is truly comparable to many US hotels at a much less cost. Enjoy....Room # 121.

Also had a birthday cake waiting for me and song from staff when we returned from our day trips on my birthday.....WOW. Information apparently from my I.D. upon check- in?

5 star in my book! Can't wait to return. I was spoiled and will now stay nowhere else. Philip from USA, California.

The staffs very arrogant and not helpful, except for one old lady who manages tge breakfast was very kind and friendly.
Staffs needs to be trained for customer service and friendliness.
Room floor is very slippery, almost fell many time as with humidity, its even more slippery. Will not go back to the same hotel, sorry for giving direct and honest opinion. Quite dissapointed with Thailand this time.

Lovely small hotel

The room is big but the layout of the furniture is a little bit strange, but overall comfortable except the pillow which was too high my wife. Breakfast is great especially the fried rice and yogurt, choices are limited but good. The location is good if you want to stay near the old town and night market but want some quiet and peaceful atmosphere at night.

Quiet little oasis in the city

Banthai Village was wonderful! A quiet little oasis that makes you forget you're the middle of a city. The rooms are beautiful with great AC. Bed was hard, but a nice change from a soft bed if you can handle it. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I've never seen such quick and sneaky housecleaners! There's a concierge that will help book any activities (which are plentiful in Chiang Mai). We were able to walk most places (not too far from Old City), but there are plenty of Tuk Tuks close by if you'd rather a ride. We loved our nightly dip in the pool, and the poolside bar wasn't bad either! Daily breakfast was great. We had to leave early our last day, and they packed up a breakfast box for us (and arranged a ride to the airport). Would highly recommend!

A beautiful hotel in a great location. You can get to the old city, the night bazaar and warorot market quickly and easily. Hotel food and drinks expensive but you have better choice a short walk away. A very compact hotel but a great base for exploring the local area. Beds really comfy and a very large family room. Unusual glass bathroom though! Not very private 😂

A sweet spot in Chiang Mai.

Banthai Villiage is a lovely property in a great location. The rooms are simple, but nice, quiet and comfy. Our only complaint is that the front desk crew seemed reluctant to go beyond the bare minimum. Whether it be restaurant recommendations or help making a local call, we didn't get much. That said, the conceierge and cleaning staff were great.

Very Thai hotel hidden down back streets. Hard bed, low chairs. Polished concrete and wood floors that were very slippery. Deep tub that would take a couple of hours to fill. No elevator but help with suitcases was available. Reception couldn't change money so you had to walk 10+ mins to bank or ATM. Older guests. Overall nice hotel and walking distance to shopping but I wouldn't stay there again.

Ban Thai is a great oasis, very friendly and helpful staff. The pool is a great central point. Lives up to the description that it replicates a Lannna village. Watch out for Henry Chat, a friendly and fun tuk tuk driver who sits on the main road close by.

The photos show a grass area, but that is now turned into paved bar area. The hotel is located on quiet backstreets. Very clean property, with very friendly and helpful staff. Had a welcome drink on arrival which was nice and easy check in. The room was very clean, but the air conditioner leaked water, and we could only store our bags away from that area, so it felt a bit cramped. The amenities were great in the room, pjs, slippers, ironing, hair dryer, coffee and tea, fridge, bowl of fruit, even anti-insect cream. The property is very pretty, lots of stained timber, plants and very nice pool area. The breakfast is a bit average, but buffet selection changed slightly everyday. Wifi was ok, did get disconnected a few times. Biggest downfall would be the noise, the room is not sound proof, you can hear everyone talking and walking outside, you can hear people in the room next and above you, there is no block out curtains and it can be very bright in the morning. Be careful also for the curtains do not cover the entire window at times and people can see into the room. The bathroom was quite large, although the shower head for the hot water only came up to my waist, which was weird and odd showering experience. The room and toilet was separated by a sliding door that didn't slide all the way shut, and a shower opaque shower curtain, so that also was not the most private experience. I quite enjoyed my relaxing stay here and would stay again.

However despite the fact that cleaners were everywhere and our room had been vacated first thing that morning the staff insisted that we could not have our room until 2pm. A little flexibility would have been greatly appreciated after such a long journey.

Quiet piece of paradise close to everything

Stayed At Banthai Village 4 nights in January. Perfect. Halfway between Banthai Gate and the night market, an easy 10 minute walk either way. The hotel is tucked down a soi next to a temple. Peaceful and quiet atmosphere with lovely gardens and swimming pool. A very Thai experience. Highly recommend.

The resort is lovely, two small pools, many cozy places to sit outside and comfortable rooms. The shower water was quite cool and the towels a bit shabby but this did not spoil our stay. It is walking distance to the night market and old town. Tour company in the lobby.

Hotel was in a good location. Outside old city but everything is so small, it's just a short (and wonderful) walk. Amazing laundry service just next door!!! Hotel was clean and spacious and the details to design and layout are lovely. They even have a library of Manga! Only complaint is we broke a glass and they charged us 100 baht for it!! So ridiculous, the cost is minuscule, but the principl is ludicrous! Overall a great hotel and excellent value for money.

The location was fine, and the rooms were fine (bed was kind of hard, though), but what bothered me was that when I needed a cab to go to the airport, they said they could call one, but that it would cost 350 baht. It normally costs 100-150 baht. I told them this, and they said that I could walk out to the main road ( a few blocks) and hail one for 100-150 baht, but if they called, it'd be 350. Ridiculous! They also had a sign up that said if you wanted your room until 6pm on check-out day, that it would cost you a half-day's rate. I asked about it (my flight was at 7:30pm, so it was an option), but then they said , well, it will actually be an entire day's rate. I argued that it was posted as a half-day's rate, but they just said no. So the takeaway is, the property is fine, but the service is not.

First stay in Chaing Mai

As far as rooms go ours was just average. Was not particularly fond of the shower set up with two shower heads one being mid level the other above your head. One shower head never seemed to have warm water leaving you to shower with the hand held sprayer. As far as cleanliness goes our room was great. Very clean and well kept. The hotel even offered fresh bed linens daily. Our room was located right off the pool in a very charming courtyard. It provided great ambiance at night for a drink and a cigar. The staff was not unpleasant but not as attentive as I would have hoped. Location was very close to night market and Saturday walking street. Overall not a bad stay with some minor improvements to be made.

We stayed here for 1 night then checked out to go and stay at elephant discovery Chiang Mai We had planned on returning the following day. Unfortunately however I got sick so returned the same day to see if they had a room for me. They did and upgraded me and let us keep the upgrade for our last night at no extra charge. I ordered spring rolls and fried rice off their room service menu. Both were delicious and large servings. They also delivered a cake with candkes lit to our room later in the night for my birthday. This hotel is walking distance to Tapae Gate and the night markets so is an ideal spot. The service here was brilliant too.

stayed for 3 nights. Good value for money accomodation. Mainly singles and couples staying. Room is spacious and bed is comfortable. Has all the essentials you need.

The walls are quite thin, so you can hear mumbling next door and extremely slippery floor boards, i would wear your flip flops inside the room.

Location was good, close to main street and walking distance (10mins) to centre of city. The whole city itself is quite small and tuk tuks are readily available and cheap.

So cute, so impractical.

A beautiful zen house of horrors. Imagine a couple ready for a lovely tropical retreat. Oh, yes, lovely waxed hard dark wood, orchids, palms, oh the beauty. The room, so cute, so zen. But wait, is that two twin beds push together to make a \"king.\" Ugh, how cheap. Yet, it's worse. The great divide made by the beds makes sleeping toghether impossible. We spent days on our own self imposed single bed prisons. Worse, the beds were on a heavily waxed wood platform, making for a great sledding trip in the night. The pretty looking bathtub is only 2 feet long, 3 ft deep with a built in ledge to sit on. It is also ice cold stone. Half an hour to fill to the ledge so you can get that true feeling of bathing at the river. The property is gorgeous, no doubt. Location is great. The pool bar had great drinks and provided plenty of ice. The rooms are just not very practical.

A very nice hotel right in the center of town

A nice, modern, well managed hotel and although it is right in the center of town, my room was very quiet. The rooms are spacious, clean with and well equipped with great bathrooms and a comfortable bed. They also have the best cable tv package I have seen in Thailand.

There were a couple of minor problems – patchy wifi and inoperative door lock - but they came and fixed them right away.

The breakfast is a combined buffet and a-la-cart and was very good.

Overall I was very satisfied and thoroughly recommend it.

Charming stay in Chiang Mai

This was my second visit to Banthai Village, but this time with my husband. The big difference was that we had a room on the third floor of the building across the lane. The room was charming and had all the necessary amenities. However, because the windows fronted on a balcony that was also a passage way, it lacked privacy. In addition, the use of stained glass windows above the doors to provide more light during the daytime meant that the room was not completely dark at night. Consequently, it was harder to stay asleep. This third floor room is accessed by relatively steep stairs, which would not make it suitable for people who find stairs difficult. The solution, of course, is to request a room on the ground or second floor. I would still recommend Ban Thai because it represents excellent value and allows one to enjoy the cooler weather in Chiang Mai.

Plus: beautiful rooms - good decor, clean. Comfy beds. Good location - 5 min. walk to old town, near nice temples (which are everywhere). Nice pool. Minus: overstuffed pillows (common), didn't see anywhere to refill our water bottles, only ate breakfast once - low quality. We had a friend in Chiang Mai offer us their place to stay for free. We had booked for 4 nights at Banthai Village. After calling hotels.com and arranging a refund upon approval by the hotel management we requested that we be allowed to leave after 2, or even 3, nights and receive a refund. The hotel manager flat out said no - we were free to leave (obviously), but there would refund.

The hotel was small and quaint but had the basic services that you need. It included breakfast, 24/7 check-in, bookings for tours, swimming pool, small bar, free internet in the room as well as having 2 desktops in the hotel lobby. The rooms were clean and simple and roomy. The staff was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this to other travelers that are looking for small hotels. It was quiet and relaxing.

Great Find

We were only in Chiang Mai for a day so we wanted to be in the old city. The hotel was pretty close to perfect. It's a cute little resort style place so it's perfect for rest and relaxation. The only problem was that the hotel is located in a little alley amongst many other alleys so it was difficult for tuk tuk drivers to find. We also rented scooters and drove around in circles for 20 mins trying to find the hotel again! haha but the location is good as in walking distance to night market and temples and not being able to find the place was only minor! There is also a restaurant up the alley toward Tapai Road (sp?) which is pretty good and cheap.

The only downfall was that we had reserved a room with 2 beds and received a room with just one - unfortunately, there were no other rooms available. [...] a better description of the available rooms would be helpful. The rooms were clean and neat; the bathrooms were a bit odd - I have no idea how an older or disabled person would be able to function in the bathroom - the tubs are deep to get in with small wooden steps. We a satisfactory breakfast which was included with the room. The staff was friendly and accomodating. Overall the stay was above averaage

An amazing weekend adventure

This quaint, gorgeous boutique hotel is in the center of everything yet provides a tranquil oasis in this busy, bustling city. The front desk staff are helpful and friendly and a wealth of information from how much a tuk tuk should cost, to an excellent place for dinner to how to spend your precious few days in Chiang Mai. I went for a girl's weekend away. We plan on an annual visit and intend to stay at Banthai Village!

Beautiful sanctuary in Chiang Mai

I found the service staff to be very friendly and accommodating. When we arrived we were welcomed with lemongrass/ginger tea. One morning we arrived late for breakfast we were well taken care of. The front desk staff helped us with all of our questions and needs.

When I return to Chiang Mai I will definitely return to the Banthai Village.

部屋の広さ、清潔さは良かったです。
備品もきちんと用意されていました。
部屋の窓がプールと廊下に面していたので
カーテンを開けることができませんでした。
観光地まで徒歩圏内で散策に良い立地でした。
近所に良いレストランが数軒あり、飲食にも困りませんでした。
また利用したいと思います。
