Wait time to check in. And then walking into a dirty, run down room that had the door hanging off the higne, blood on the wall, broken tiles, leaking taps and a dirty floor made us want to leave. We had no choice as we had traveled 3.5 hours to do business in Melbourne, but if we had anywhere else to go, we would have left. We felt dirty, uncomfortable and disrespected having to stay in this room.

I flew in from America and my partner who lives here did the check in because they do not offer check-in after 10pm and my flight landed at 9:50pm. When I arrived at the location, the room was beyond dirty. The bathroom was dirty. There was a guest in the room next to ours that was up all night screaming and yelling at himself and he was still going when we checked out. Needless to say, after a 37 hour plane ride here I still wasn't able to get any rest at this facility. Very disappointed that my first night in Australia was a very horrible experience.

This was the worst stay I have ever had at a motel. The booking on wotif.com said you could check until 10pm. Reception closed at 9 pm. The room was covered in black mould. It was filthy and dirty; the walls were covered in brown stains and dirty handprints. Holes in the bath, the floor had chipped tile, making it unsafe for my child to bath. The television didnt work. Nobody manned the reception, called and informed management, said they would call back and never did. Asked for a refund and was not refunded. DO NOT STAY HERE

It is an older motel. I have stayed there a few times over the years. I saw that it is showing its age and needs a refurbishment. It is okay as a place to sleep. The chain on the door of my room had been removed. The closet was missing a bar (the kind staff member at reception went and found me one). The bar fridge had no shelves inside or on the fridge door. The TV was an older model, the speakers on it weren't delivering the best sound. The staff member I saw was helpful.

the rooms were pretty basic ,tea/coffee,fridge,microwave,toaster.good size bathroom and shower,comfortable queen bed,tv,table and chairs.5min walk to bus and 4 stops to train station,10 min walk to dfo.great public transport with bus,tram and train.the staff were really friendly,the place neads good spruce up,if your fussy its probably not for you.price was good considering it was cup week that i stayed.would stay their again if i was in melbourne

It’s ok for super budget accomodations. Was definitely not worth what we were charged at all. The rooms are not well maintained. The bathroom window was broken. The sink hole was broken. The furniture has chips in it. Someone was screaming late a night. A homeless person was going through the bins. The door number fell off our door. Good points were the room was clean and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

The room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived & had to wait half an hour for it to be cleaned. The staff seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. One way in & out, onto a four laned main road, was horrendous. The smell was overpowering. The spa had no plug so we couldn’t use it. The toilet roll holder was broken & the roll just sat on the edge of the spa bath. The vanity was covered in contact covering. The door was missing the security chain & the door handle & lock felt as if it was about to fall off. There was a sign under the mirror saying the hairdryer was in the wardrobe but there was no hairdryer. I asked for one at the reception & they couldn’t find one. I asked them to put one in the room during the day, but that wasn’t done. I asked again in the afternoon and it took ages to find one. The microwave has a sign on the door to cover your food when heating & to clean it after you finished. There was nothing to cover it with or to clean it afterwards. There was an ironing board in the wardrobe but it didn’t have any cover on it. There was only 2 cups &1 teaspoon in the room. No plates, glasses, crockery or cutlery. There was a big sign out the front, saying Restaurant open 7 days. I asked if they had a restaurant & the receptionist said no they didn’t. The room had a lot of old water damage in it. The particleboard wardrobe, at the bottom where the old water damage was, was falling to bits as the timber was just all falling off it. No spare blankets or pillows.

7. Bathroom fly screen never cleaned in the past 5 years

9. References to sheltered housing on walls
10. Door lock barely holds, safety issue
11. No plug in sink
12. Dirty bathroom
13. Black mould on ceilings in bathroom plus clear evidence of water trapped behind the plaster.
14. The mould is a form of Stachybotritus and is a health hazard to asthmatics like me.
15. The ceiling is textured and due to the building age may well contain asbestos

Essendon motel is in a great location, just off the Bulla Rd exit. The rooms are quiet, despite being close to the freeway. The blankets/doona are light, so for a cold night we needed to run the heating all night. Recommend bringing extra blankets if you can.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY!!!!

This property is unsafe, unkept and any review on here above a 1 or 2 is certainly fake. I checked in with my family to this hotel prior to flying out overseas and literally stayed in the room for 15mins before we all walked out and left.

First off the front door looked like the door had recently just been kicked in and refixed, door handle was lose, the minute we opened the door we were meet with a overpowering smell of smoke. My kids instantly start coughing (and still are 4 days later). We had a quick due upon nobody’s wanted to stay so we left. Told reception the room was unfit to house people due to the strong smoke smell and we were checking out. We went and booked straight into another motel, which was lovely!!

I was in communication with Wotif and have dropped the ball on their standard of hotels as they have offered me a $50 credit instead of a refund due to the terrible premise they have on their books!!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY!!!!

Horrible place, unless you're a junkie.

No glass at all in one window frame. Just a flyscreen stickey taped to the frame.
Rooms look nothing like the pictures.
Beds were all different. Sheets were old and had dirt on them.
Bugs throughout the room.
Surfaces were not even clean.
Carparking was good.
Location is withing walking distance to shops.
But rooms are not worth more than $50 a night.

This eas the second time we had stayed at this motel. The forst tine we knew it was cheap, it was rough, but the room was clean enough and wasnt so bad. This tine around was a major put off. The room my friends got had a door handle that was barely holding together and opened when locked, there was so much mould in the shower it was disgusting, there was a second bed held up with bricks and foam (as the legs were gone on it), there were scratch marks and burns from presumably crack needles all over the bed side table, lamps missing, and whits stains on the doona cover. The smell in that room was unbearable. Room 25. It honeslty gave the vibe that someone has OD'd and died in there at some stage. The room my partner and I got (whilst very outdated and in need of a lot of repair) was okay enough. We asked reception if we could change rooms for my friend and she was very obliging and friendly, and id say the service there is great, but overal that place needs to be gutted/demolished and re built. The man near us in another room was so unfriendly and just blew smoke in our faces when we walked past and said hello. Our room reeked of cigarettes the whole time. The location of this place is fantastic, the staff are trying their best, but its a gamble staying here. Doable for one night, maybe 2, if you score a just habital room, but otherwise you are very much getting what you pay for here. Its just old, not being maintained, and needs to be re built completely.

Very run down property, on many doors you could see that handles had been forced, some were actually broken. Beds were terrible, sunken and worn out, broken tiles in bathroom, shower screen door jambs, curtains hanging off rail. Sheets were clean, but towels were past their use by date. Nice TV but Wifi kept dropping out do you could not stream on it. General cleanliness around the property wasn't great. Would not stay there again, glad it was only one night!

There was no elevator, for two elderly women who had to struggle to get their luggage upstairs. The desk clerk directed us to a restaurant several blocks across the very busy street only to find out that it was only open for dinner time. There was no ice available. The room was not very clean. The door didn’t fit very well, and the lock was pretty flimsy. We only felt comfortable by leaving our packed suitcases in front of the door for safety. There were no hand towels or face clothes. We only had one bath towel each. Wi-Fi at our location was practically nonexistent. The only good things about about this location were the price and the working air conditioner. We would not recommend this place.

The Essendon motel reception staff agreed to a one night refund because we left the premises due to the very dirty unhygienic conditions. Spit on the walls, dirt that looked like blood. The fridge had no shelves in it. We were told to arrange the refund with Wotif. Wotif said to sort the with Essendon reception. We rang the receptionist and were told they would ring back but never did.

We only needed 1 room with 2 beds, but somehow we paid for 2rooms.1 room was upstairs and 1 downstairs and a distance away Pillows not good, no microwave in room. No glasses for wine or drinks. 1 teaspoon in room which looked like a jam jar spoon. Shower head was broken. Would be ok for overnight stay but not a few nights. We had to go out and get knives, forks and plates. Rooms were not what pictures were lead to belive room would be like. We stayed at other Motels on the way home which was cheaper and more equipped in the kitchen area.

While this motel is convenient for being close to major airports, the room left a lot to be desired.
The worst features were a number of electrical outlets that were broken and unsafe in the room, and a complete lack of cutlery and only two mugs for hot beverages.
Only recommend a stay here if you need quick access to airports prior to a trip away.

Bed had a mattress which was overdue for replacement. Sagged in the middle and could feel the metal springs. The room we were allocated could sleep 5, but there was only one mug and one very tiny spoon to stir with. Bathroom was very old and needs refurbishment, no toilet roll holder, soap dish lying on floor of shower, which showed signs that the tiles needed a very deep clean. When checking in I became very suspicious when the woman wanted to take a copy of my drivers licence, without saying why!. I refused, but let her check my name against the booking. Overall dissatisfied.

I had my 12 yr old Granddaughter with me. She locked her phone in the room. It cost $50 for a staff member to open the door....what a bloody ripoff.
Also, there was no cutlery or crockery for buying a take away meal to eat in the room. We needed to share one very tiny 1/4 sized \"teaspoon\" for both coffee and food. I went to the office to see about cutlery and it was dark and locked. That was about 7.30 and they were supposed to be open till 10....haha.Extremely bare necessities in the room....no hairdryer.

Cleanliness was sub par, no drain stop in basin with a cigarette in the trap, taps had nothing holding them on, dodgey repair jobs of silicone throughout the bathroom, mould growing in corners, wifi was horrible and dropping in and out had to use my own data, room smelt like cigarettes as witnessed a cleaner smoking in and out of rooms while he “cleaned” had to move the bad to get to outlet in the wall and they had very clearly never been moved to be vacuumed. The edging of the carpet to tiled area had a edging that was damaged and lifted catching my foot every time I walked past it heater in bathroom was out of order, heating ac in the room blew out stinky air, parking was horrible and crowded at times, inconvenient location to get in and out of. Just very unfortunate but I guess you get what you pay for and I guess I payed for a diy home Reno room.
