Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds, pools and beach. We chose to swim at the beach, such a lovely setting, and the sea was warm. The pools appeared to be unheated.
The rooms were quite tired for a 5 star hotel, but our garden view room was comfortable, quiet and not overlooked. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. The half board option was excellent value and the evening meal choice, with waiter service, fabulous. The only thing that let the hotel down was breakfast, which was very limited for a hotel of this size. The standard scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, plus cold meats and cheese, and lots of cake! The smoked salmon was very good though...
Reception staff were efficient and friendly, and kindly helped us with a couple of issues during our stay. We took advantage of the useful free shuttle into Porto Cervo one day, a 2 hour visit was probably all that was needed, although we stayed longer. Plenty of parking in the hotel grounds and the road outside.
We thoroughly enjoyed out three nights at the hotel, thank you Colonna Resort!

Absolutely stunning resort. The pools and the view of the ocean is gorgeous. A bit pricy for food and drinks by the pool. Definitely rent a car as there is limited shuttle service to and from the resort to the town of Porto Cervo. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay again!

Loved our stay at the resort. Staff was wonderful and the resort is beautiful. I'd upgrade the toiletries as they were very average for a 5* resort and a hair dryer was something you'd find in a 3* hotel.

These are minor things though, we had a wonderful time and would come back. Staff was also incredibly helpful and attentive.

Title: Disappointing and Poor Value – Would Not Stay Again

Review:
We stayed at this property recently, and unfortunately, the experience fell far below what we expected for the price.

Several issues contributed to a consistently disappointing stay:

Excessive surcharges: €50 per day for a room upgrade with no option to change within the same category, €20 fees every time we dropped off or picked up our rental car, and €3 per item just to have something delivered to a pool lounger. It felt like a bait and switch setup, where the initial price looked reasonable but everything after was designed to extract more money.
Misleading descriptions: Our “garden view” room actually overlooked the staff car park and air conditioning outlets. Staff frequently gathered there to smoke and chat, leaving us with no privacy at all.
Poor service and inflexibility:
A jug of hot milk was spilled in my lap at breakfast. No apology or compensation was offered—I had to specifically request to speak with the manager.
I asked for decaf coffee pods for the in-room machine and was simply told no, with zero effort to accommodate.
No water was supplied in the rooms or gym—just tap water, which felt cheap considering the rates charged.
The gym itself was uncomfortable, with no water and odd jazz music playing throughout.
Lack of transparency: At checkout, we noticed fake items had been added to our bar tab, requiring time to get them removed.
Unhelpful policies: When I requested an iron to press a shirt

Warning to discerning travelers.

Food is the quality of an American strip mall Italian chain. This is not a 5 star hotel. Nice views, nice pool, but that is were it ends. When I complained about the food, they threw me out of the restaurant. The manager came over and started lifting plates off my table and told me I was not welcome there. No thank you I don't want your $5 frozen grocery store ravioli. You spend $800night for a room thinking this is the Four Seasons, instead it is the Olive Garden

Beautiful Grounds, Pool and Beach area

Great location, about 10 min drive from Porto Cervo. Huge pool area and nice private beach. Staff very friendly. Cleaning staff very efficient. It was nice to see turtles roaming the property. I recommend them to offer Irons and Ironing boards to guests instead of having to pay for the service. Don’t like their ticket system for the pool tools

This hotel is outdated and stuck in the 90s, with no signs of a proper renovation. The location is inconvenient, requiring a 10-minute drive to Porto Cervo, with traffic and parking only adding to the frustration.

We chose this hotel for its supposed child-friendly environment, but it was a complete scam. Upon check-in, we were forced to pay for an \"upgrade\" because of our toddler, even though we had clearly informed them that our children would be joining us. They blamed Expedia for the mix-up, but it felt like a blatant cash grab. After a long and heated negotiation they offer to book us a second room, and finally after some heated convo they offered a bigger room with a parking lot view at an extra cost, but still refused to provide a crib. This ordeal took over 1.5 hours, with two exhausted kids in tow.

Our room had a non-draining shower for three days, despite multiple requests to fix it. We were forced to bathe our children in filthy, standing water—a completely unsanitary and disgusting situation. The staff refused our request to change rooms, leaving us stuck in miserable conditions.

The final insult came on our departure day when we asked to take a few croissants to go before our early flight. The staff made us wait while they checked with multiple managers, only to refuse our request.

This hotel is not luxurious. The staff is unhelpful, the amenities are subpar, and the overall experience was dreadful. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Stay away - 3 star at best

**Horrible Experience - NOT Even 3 Stars!**

I’ve stayed in many hotels, but this one takes the cake for being the absolute worst. It’s barely 3 stars by any standard.

On top of all this, the property is completely exhausted. The entire place feels like it’s been stuck in the 90s, and not in a charming, nostalgic way—more like it hasn’t seen a proper renovation since then. The furniture is worn out, and there’s a general sense of neglect. Everything looks and feels dirty, adding to the overall miserable experience.

The hotel is also quite a drive from Porto Cervo, making it even more inconvenient. Save yourself the trouble, and book the Marriott option in the village instead. It has a better beach, a better location, and much better food.

We only booked this hotel because it was advertised as being child-friendly—a complete scam. The so-called \"kids club\" was a total joke. It’s more like a sad room with a few toys tossed in. There were no real activities, minimal staff supervision—nothing that could remotely be called a \"kids club\" by any decent standard. We left the kids for a bathroom run and came back to them staring at the TV despite our no screen rule.

From the moment we arrived, the nightmare began. At check-in, we were *forced* to pay for an \"upgrade\" because of our 2-year-old son. They claimed the room we originally booked wasn't big enough for all of us, despite the fact that we had clearly informed them in writing and verbally that our children would be joining

A lovely “must visit again” vacation.

The hotel is amazing; multiple swimming pools, great private beach, friendly staff, good and quick service, food is delicious.

The negatives: espresso machine at the room cost €2.5 euros per day, no water for free (only available upon check-in. The curtains can only help 80% of sunshine, next-door occupants may be heard “soft walls and it wakes you up”.

Anyways, i will come again here due to the mentioned points and the near locations to touristic points and porto cervo. 4 to 5 nights is enough for North East Sardinia.

Its a 5 star hotel how can the housekeeping only work at a certain time and when they come to clean they don’t actually clean at night they just do the bed and leave but they dont clean the room and remove the towels they’re very restricted to timings and there was a huge spider in the bathroom not a normal huge spider it was one of those huge and dangerous spiders and about the rooms the noise the noise is unbearable we could hear everything above us there was no noise cancelling flooring

the beach is not as big as shown in the images,
its very very small, but the good thing is you are surrounded by heavenly beaches all around you outside the resort also.
The breakfast buffett is nice, the dinner at the resort restaurant is not recommended, very bland foods and not very appetizing. Better to go off resort where you will have lots of amazing options

Make sure you bring trousers as they only have one restaurant and you won’t be able to eat there…

Massive pools which aren’t over crowded

Suggestions for improvement:
Air con didn’t work on an entire floor
Create some sheltered areas outside that you don’t charge for
More food options - room service menu is limited and if you don’t want a 5 course meal there are no other options other than pizza and 3 sandwiches

Cleanliness of the room is not great. Don’t bother with house cleaning but they don’t clean anything. I experimented with hair in the middle of the floor and it stayed there for three days in a row.

The property is beautiful but it’s definitely not good value for your money.

Wonderful sea views and so much space

Well thought out resort with great amenities. Nice touch if you have a late departing flight. They provide a dedicated shower room so you can use the resort facilities until you are ready to leave. So we’ll thought out!

The actual property is beautifully located with spectacular views of the ocean. The pool areas, with salt water are spacious and nicely arranged so you don’t feel crowded. The little beach area is also nice if you want to be on the sand.
The concierge was excellent and made all our dinner reservations promptly.

Beautiful resort. One thing, the best part of the resort, the pools was lacking. They are beautiful at night but unusable then. The pools are only open from 8am to 8pm. A dawn or sunset swim would have been amazing. Even better, a late night swim in the illuminated pools.

Highly recommended although we didn't try the resturants in the hotel but can suggest visiting Elite Cafe for dinner which is close by in Porto Cervo.

We stayed at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary, and if i had a choice to change our accommodation after we arrived I would’ve. The staff were really friendly and the concierge there was great, but that was the only thing good about this hotel. The hotel it self is really old, the beds are squeeky and hard, but the pool and the view were good. We paid almost 600$ per night but it was really not worth that much, the room barely has any amenities, no compelimentary water or coffee machine or bath robes, if you want water you have to pay 4 euros per small bottle. These small thing to make a difference in making your stay better. The pool side service is almost non existent, we stayed by the pool for 3 hours before someone passed by to take our orders. We asked for an iron the the reply we got was this’we havr it but we are sorry we can’t give it to you due to security reasons, if you want we can iron your clothes and you can check the price list in your cabinet”. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Worst service you could expect! Avoid at all costs. They charged more than price on Expedia. Expect a very bad service. Prices changed when we arrived.

Breakfast is removed at 10am, and Dinner is removed at 10pm. Lunch/kitchen is closed at 2pm. Everything is overpriced.

The service is horrible. Avoid if you can!

Overall the stay was good, however one of the reasons we booked the resort was because there was a shuttle into Porto Cervo. We were very disappointed with the shuttle as it ran less than a handful of times per day at very awful times. This is a place you need a car and we wish we had known that. Otherwise, the stay was good.

The hotel is spectacular and has an amazing view! The rooms very clean and spacious.
Unfortunately the food is terrible, we had the most horrible lasagne I have ever tried, it was reheated on the microwave with dried sauce and no beef. Then we tried a seafood risotto for dinner (which you only have 4 main courses options) and if there were 4 spoons of rice and 1 spoon of seafood I am exaggerating, and on top they charge you a fortune for that! Breakfast is good with a lot of options, but the bread doesn't seem fresh. Also, the room service is only microwaved food!!
They only open the restaurants for windows of 1.30 to 2.30 hours, which is surprising on a 5 star property! Most of the staff are very good, but then you find some of the waitress that are rude.
It is a shame that a 5* Italian resort in such a beautiful location is spoiled by the bad and expensive food.

Beautiful part of the world, incredible setting with amazing facilities. Private beach, four incredible pools and the view of the sea is spectacular.

Minor criticism would be the price of the food is not good value. The food is good quality, not outstanding, and there is a premium on the price which made me want to find external restaurants and not stay within the resort.

Breakfast was a lot of choice, but again hit and miss in terms of quality of ingredients. Good fruit, not so much the bread, cereal or savoury options.

But all in all, amazing place to spend time in the summer.

Had a really good stay. Hotel was very good. The employees were excellent in terms of service and especially dealing with a mix up in our booking Hotels.com had not fully dealt with in advance.

The hotel staff were helpful and polite, especially concierge, cleaning staff & bar staff.
The restaurant seemed more interested in serving the groups, us three lone women felt neglected whilst waiting to be escorted to our dining table.

The piano entertainment is quite dismal and needs to be improved.

Best pool area ever

Very attractive hotel set in immaculate gardens. The pool area is vast with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. We were there in September and felt like we had the place to ourselves. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Other available meals are expensive and not 5 star standard. You must have a car to get out and about. Reception staff and concierge were very helpful and friendly. Would be great if there was a pool waiter for drinks and tea/coffee making facility in room. Would stay again.

I liked the pool area, the breakfast terrace and the staff. The last pick up for the shuttle bus is really early around 6 pm from Porto Cervo. No proper services in the beach area, no food is allowed, not even fruits only drinks. They should consider moving the towels area away from the massage area for the noise.

Beautiful hotel layout, but not a 5 star

The staff were only concerned with guests who were terribly wealthy not those who were not. The dining options were shocking and the bed was rock hard. The only saving grace was the concierge Franco who went above and beyond to assist us. The 4 times offered by the hotel shuttle were not great & transport options to the location limited. We wanted to go and sample the local agritourism but at 80€ for just the ride there and back drew us away from doing this. The fact that the hotel reception couldn't book the restaurant was terrible & their welcome wasn't very friendly on checking in.

The resort has excellent service, large pools and a small private beach. But the rooms and hotel facilities are ageing and looks dated. The rooms are decently sized, not large and bathrooms adequate but a refurbish is needed to maintain the 5 star rating. The location is out of the way from restaurants and shops so a car is needed and dining at the hotel is very expensive

Competitively priced hotel in a beautiful setting

Great first impressions. Attractive lobby. Efficient friendly check in and room transfer.
***Connecting to and staying connected to Wi-Fi was a constant problem even in the lobby ***
Also had problems at Tanit, Casablanca and the Airport so may be a general problem.
We booked the lead in room type - hill view, actually had a partial sea view so were happy!
Room was well presented but small and lacked storage. Requested more hangers which arrived quickly.
No complimentary fruit or drinks or water to welcome us, which is usually offered in a 5* hotel.
Bed was ok but had only one pillow each which were flat and hard, so asked for thicker softer pillows.
The price of 50 Euros each for guests on B&B was reasonable for a delicious 4 course Al a Carte meal which was professionally served. However, the best tables on the terrace are reserved for guests on half board. B&B guests get what's left, inside if its busy.
Breakfast is best early. No Egg Chef, only pre boiled eggs and scrambled eggs.
The Rolex Swan Cup Party, took place near the pool on 13/9/14.
Hotel guests were restricted to a buffet on the night at 70 Euros per head. The selection was disappointing. We were able to watch the event from the upper terrace.
The beach, decks, pools & grounds are lovely. All staff charming and helpful, particularly Donatto & Franco the Concierge who recommended Tanit, Poltu Quatu, - excellent, and arranged a full day boat trip which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Room (sea view) was extremely small. Bed very uncomfortable. Staff were overwhelmed at breakfast and a 30 minute wait for coffee. Wifi connection constantly breaking down and many other guests complaining.Friendly staff at bar and lounge, also the concierge was helpful. Great location but the fantastic hotel pools would have been great if they were heated .....they were just too cold to enjoy.

THIS HOTEL DOES NOT APPROACH ANY FIVE STAR HOTELS I HAVE PREVIOUSLY STAYED IN , AT BEST RATE IT AS A FOUR STAR. AND THE BREAKFAST WAS SERVED IN A DARK DINING ROOM, WITH NO OUTDOOR EATING AVAILABLE , THE FOOD CHOICE WAS LIMITED WITH NO FRESH FRUIT JUICE, FRESH FRUIT HAD TO BE PREPARED YOURSELF NO VARIATION IN FOOD OVER A WEEK. HAD BETTER 3 STAR BREAKFASTS. VERY DISAPPOINTED FOR THE AMOUNT WE PAID

Good Location - but room could have been better

Positives: Lots of good car parking, the pools are amazing and the beach area is great. The only criticism is that the hotel is a little dated and could do with some love. Our shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and left a damp smell in the room. Even though we booked a double room, we were given a twin. When we brought that to the attention of the staff, they initially pushed the 2 beds together and wrapped them with double sheets. That made the beds really soft of the outside and hard in the middle. So this time we complained and they brought in a queen size mattress and placed it on top of the 2 single bases.

Superb resort

This was the best hotel i have ever stayed in bar none, from the staff who are so helpful especially the concierge Franco who truly is amazing.

I have stayed in top hotels like the Atlantis Palm in Dubai which was nowhere near as good as this one, please tell anyone they will thoroughly enjoy the best vacation ever.

Quality hotel - fantsatic pools and view

Great hotel - fantsastic pools, beach and views over ocean. We went 2nd week September so it was really quiet. Staff very professional and couteous, albeit slightly stuffy. Entertainment pretty poor. Gym average, buty no changing room or showers. Had to ask for water to be refilled everyday, which isnt 5* standard. 30euro charge for access to wellness centre felt excessive. Breakfast better than average, but had better in 5*. Overall I would say 4.5* rather than 5*

amazing pools

We were only here for one night, prior to leaving from Olbia airport. I wish it could have been longer. The pools were fabulous. Salt water (which I loved) and a little cold, but gorgeous for swimming. I was the ONLY one in the water. All those who have moaned about the water temperature in previous reviews really should try swimming in the Atlantic, English Channel or North Sea. That's cold. Small but charming little private beach. Very comfortable bed and pillows. I'd go back in a flash.

Nice place to relax

The Colonna Resort was a great value for money for a hotel in Porto Cervo. Close to many restaurants and beaches I've spent a pleasant and relaxing week in Sardinia. The breakfast room isn't in the best area of the hotel, I wish it was served on the top floor with sea views.

Hotel is close to beach, but not much of a beach.

Considering this property is rated as a 5 star resort, VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Upon check in staff did not explain our options, show us around or provide us with a map of the property.
No taxi service available according to the concierge only private cars , they have a shuttle but that was never available. The Hotel is located in an area which is not walkable and requires all guests to have a car, without one you cannot get anywhere.
Overall, for the price you pay, you do not get the hight quality service that is expected to come with it.

Not a 5 star hotel

No wifi for the entire duration of our trip. Very small TV in the very large room. The spa is not free, it is 30€ per day for entrance. You deffinately need a car if staying at this resort and wanting to travel further than Porto Cervo, as places like Baia Sardinia are teaming with great restaurants and a good beach. Other than the above the hotel was lovely, very well kept and very spacious and the staff were more than friendly. More of a 3/4* than a 5*.

Great hotel for views but lack of basic facilities

Hotel was in a fantastic location with superb views. We even got upgraded to a sea view room which was amazing. However the beach is very small but the seven swimming pools are great but the water was cold and salty which I don't think is ideal for swimming pools. In addition there was no tea/coffee making facilities or iron in the room. Iron was not even available on request! Having stayed in various five star hotels across the world, I do not believe this to be a proper five star, most likely a 4.5 star as some basic facilities were missing. Also room service menu was very limited and will cost you 8euros per person to be delivered! Food is expensive and be prepared to pay for children under the age of three (majority of the hotels usually let kids eat for free). If possible hire a car as taxis are more expensive than the UK!

peaceful family vacation

I was worried when reading the reviews to the hotel and then we arrived and they were courteous and welcoming. Our request were always taken care of in a timely manner and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. The large pool complex was relaxing and the beach was a little small but sufficient. They have a shuttle into Porto Cervo that is free but most of the time we were perfectly happy at the resort. Breakfast was great. The drinks and food are a little expensive though but so are other 5 star resorts. I would return. It was a peaceful family vacation.

The best view in town

This hotel is even lovelier in real life than in the pictures. The view is nothing short of spectacular. It's not accessible by public transport (sadly the case for most of the island, so non-drivers who don't want to spend hundreds of euros on taxis are out of luck), but once you're there you don't really want to go anywhere else anyway. I loved the surround music systems that let you listen to music even when you're on the beach or walking around the extensive gardens. The person who chose the soundtracks had great taste, too, I must say. All the people in the reception were uniformly lovely, as were the breakfast crew. Only two things were disappointing: the frst was that there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room. The second that any room service you order, even if it's just a coffee, costs eight euros on top of the price of whatever you ordered. So basically, even ordering a coffee would set you back more than ten euros. I think that's slightly outrageous. In return, the coffee at breakfast was superb and the staff will bring you as many as you like. Overall, this was a great hotel. Whoever does the human resources should demand a raise, as the people working there were by far the best bit (and with a view like theirs, that really says something)!

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. Upon arrival, after a 6 hour drive from Taormina and a 5 hour ferry crossing, we were greated by a massive reception the hotel was putting on for a corporate event, complete with a huge stage in the back by the pool with a live band blaring music until 2 a.m. The music was so loud...we couldn't hear each other in our room. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the terrace adjacent our room we had specifically requested to enjoy the view of the ocean. We were exhausted, couldn't eat because the kitchen was closed to hotel patrons, we couldn't use the outside facilities, we couldn't park our car even though we had paid 12 euros a day (because of the 2,000 guests parked everywhere) and we couldn't sleep! This hotel caters to group and corporate functions, not to individual travellers. The hotel staff were completely unhelpful, uncaring and cold as ice. When we complained about the noise, the staff told us it was not their fault and a manager would get back to us. No one ever contacted us. This is not what you expect from a 5 star resort. We felt the hotel should have apologized and offered to compensate us for the huge inconvenience. At the very least the hotel should have advised patrons making reservations that week end that there was going to be this huge disturbance. The resort itself is modern and clean but it does not provide the quiet peaceful atmosphere that was advertised on the web site. I would not recommend this hotel nor will I ever return there in future. No one should have to take a chance when booking a 5 star resort whether they will have the kind of experience they expect and pay for.

Never again!!

Don't get mistaken by pictures. Although the swimming pool is nice, the rest goes downhill. No service at all. Rude and unhelpful staff. Cheap decoration. Zero atmosphere....feels like hotel is living its last season. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!

Great stay!

The hotel is brand new, very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast, with a nice view. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food in Sardinia is excellent!! For dinner check out Ristorante Spinnaker in Porto Cervo, amazing food! Watch the sunset at Phi beach club in Baja Sardinia, good dinner and cocktails! Renting a car is a good idea. Most places are not walking distance. The hotel offers a great car service but it can get quite expensive if you are using it more than twice a day....30 - 35 Euros per ride. But it's definitely worth it to check out some of these great spots!

Excepcional. Hotel incrível.

Excelente hotel na Costa Esmeralda, muito bem localizado, a uma curta distancia de carro de várias praias e atrações. Lugar lindo, limpíssimo, com funcionários muito atenciosos e educados. Até difícil destacar algum funcionário pq todos são exemplares, mas a Bárbara da recepção fala português e isso facilitou muito em várias situações. Escolhi pensão completa e valeu a pena. Café da manhã é excepcional. O jantar é com prato a la carte e o cardápio varia diariamente. Se fosse pagar à parte, o almoço seria 40 euros o buffet e 55 euros buffet + a la carte. A área das piscinas é um destaque a parte: são várias, a maioria de água salgada. A prainha é pequena, mas muito charmosa e de águas cristalinas, boa para snorkeling. A academia é básica e não é o ponto forte do hotel.
Enfim, amei minha viagem e quero voltar.

Nossa estadia foi incrível. Hotel com excelente serviço, todo staff muito preparado para atender com excelência e cordialidade, desde a recepção, equipe de garçons, maître, camareiras. Acomodações limpas e em bom estado. Comida ótima, optamos por pensão completa, café da manhã farto e com bastante variedades, jantar servido a lá carte. A implantação do hotel e a vista são lindas, Destaque para as sete piscinas de águas salinas climatizada com vista para o mar fez toda diferença. Voltaremos com certeza.
