Loved the fact that it’s a relatively small hotel. Staff always very friendly and helpful. The pool area was so clean & tidy and never too busy. No problems finding a lounger at any time of the day.
Breakfast buffet was perfect, not too overwhelming but included everything you could want.
The shower screen in the bathroom failed every time, leading to flooded bathroom every day. I noted this was mentioned in many reviews so I wonder why nothing has been done to improve it?
Shame about outside drinks & snacks not being allowed in the rooms. It’s always nice to bring in an ‘inexpensive’ drink to have o. The balcony in the evening. Could still do it but just had to drink it out of a mug!!! Haha.
Highly recommend hiring a car and exploring all the local beaches, ample free parking at the hotel.
All round perfect stay, thank you

My fiancée and I stayed for 3 nights at hotel Balocco and it was the highlight of our trip to Sardinia.

The complementary daily breakfast was excellent with lots of options to choose from: eggs to order, fresh cut fruit, tasty desserts, cheeses, bacon, etc.

The staff were absolutely wonderful. Everyone from the front desk, wait staff, pool/towel staff, and house keeping were warm and friendly. The service overall was excellent. There is a free shuttle to the beach you can sign up for through the front desk—they were very informative.

The pool is beautiful, although we didn’t spend much time there and opted to go to the beach.

The room was spacious and clean. Having a comfortable king bed was a welcome reprieve from the smaller, less comfortable beds we slept on in Florence prior to our arrival. The shower also had very good water pressure making hair washing a breeze.

The decor is warm and beachy adding to the ambiance of beautiful Porto Cervo. Our favorite feature of this hotel was our gracious feline host, little Balocco. We loved being greeted by her every morning.

Overall, I can’t wait to come back here! Hotel Balocco is 10/10 and I will be recommending it to anyone heading to Italy.

Fantastic location and staff! Room was large with big balcony and great view of ocean. Did have an occasional oder coming from the shower drain. Room was mostly clean but could use some touchup paint. Room was also very quiet with comfortable beds. Beautiful grounds and the staff was always helpful when we had questions. We stayed in Suite Anna and had our own private terrace and hot tub. Views were spectacular and the whole resort is designed beautifully.

Boutique hotel. It is not a new hotel so if this is what you want it is not for you. It is 50 years old and sits high up with the most wonderful view. There are photos of the hotel in the bar area which shows its history. All the staff were helpful and polite. The reception staff spoke good English and helped us in finding a hire car (delivered and left at the hotel) and a boat trip for the day (fabulous). The hotel was spotlessly clean. A wide variety of food available for breakfast. We also had lunch at the hotel one day which was also good. The only problem were the mosquitoes, so go armed! Highly recommend.

The hotel is lovely, but the suite we booked was shown with seating outside. There were loungers but nowhere to sit and have a drink or a snack. When we checked other rooms they all appeared to have some sort of seating arrangement. It was a pity as the view from the terrace is spectacular. When we mentioned this to reception they did bring a small table and chairs but we had to heave them up and down steps to use them.
There isn’t a restaurant for dinner, one of the reasons we wanted a table and chairs, we had ordered room service twice. The terrace was a huge empty space not really inviting. A few pot plants might have helped.
If you don’t have a car it’s a short walk up the hill to a few restaurants.
The staff on the whole were OK not overly friendly except for one of the front desk personnel who was downright snippy. Such a shame as it it really could be fabulous.

The only nit, and this is not unique to this property, is the pool is not heated which is apparently quite common here. Just be prepared.

We absolutely loved staying here!! When we arrived Roberto kindly informed us our room was upgraded and we felt like we had the best room in the hotel. The view was amazing from every window in our room. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was great and breakfasts were delicious. Oh and the pool is perfect. I was sad to leave his hotel. This was a very nice hotel with a great staff. The location is on a hill overlooking Porto Cervo. The location was nice as it was away from the busy shopping area. Nice to go into to town area to shop and dine but better to get away from the busy tourists areas in the evening. They have a great complimentary breakfast served in a charming space with views and a stunning pool. The hotel arranged for a rental car to be picked up and dropped off at the hotel which was nice. Easy 5 minute drive to dining and shopping. The hotel is also within walking distance to a great restaurant and small grocery store.

The property was beautiful and unique. The views from our room & the pool were stunning and peaceful. I loved the landscaping and the decor was simple and tasteful. The lobby area was very pretty. I felt like I was staying in a gorgeous villa. The restaurant and lounge bare were lovely and offered up perfect views. Staff was exceptional. Though only there for one night, we were well taken care of. I would stay again in a heartbeat and highly recommend the hotel.

I must say the experience that I had at this hotel was top service. They accommodated me in every way. Everyone at the front desk smiled and helped me. The concierge was excellent. The manager was excellent the bartender was excellent. Everyone at the front desk help me. My reservation was wrong and they helped me in every way and didn’t make a big deal about it. Fabulous hotel in Porto Cervo! The staff are amazing and the pool area is beautiful. Views of the harbour are outstanding. The rooms are a little basic but had a balcony / patio with again beautiful views and great to sit out on. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants and a tabbachi down the hill. You’ll likely want a car to go to the beaches.

The front desk was very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was great as well as the staff at breakfast. They were all very nice and provided excellent service with a smile. The view from the pool and restaurant is beautiful.
The hotel is also not far from the town piazzeta where all the stores and restaurants are a 5/10 minute drive or 30 minute walk. A taxi costs 20 euro there if you do not have a car.

Visited during the busiest weeks of the year in Sardinia although you would not have thought so at Hotel Balocco.. the atmosphere is tranquil and calm,relaxing and friendly.

The views are stunning and pool area amazing... nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always available but not intrusive.

The hotel decor is traditionally Sardinian and rooms and communual areas kept very clean and tidy.

A good selection at breakfast with delicious eggs and bacon, selection of fruits, cereals and yogurts bread and pastries, juices, water, tea & coffee.

I would highly recommend this hotel to couples and families.

Everything was fabulous. Exceeded our expectations. Got a superb private courtyard which we didn't expect. Very easy to get to Porto Cervo by free boat service at little marina which is a 6 minute walk downhill.
Guys at breakfast made the best coffee to order & Francesco on pool bar really did fantastic cocktails.

Not deserving of 4 stars.

Having stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels, this one was not deserving of 4 stars at all. Parking was great, as was location and view, but the small room with inadequate air conditioning to cool down on a hot summer's day, no kettle, poor lighting in the bathroom (altho it was a lovely bathroom) and less than average breakfasts let it down for me. After having read such excellent reviews, i thought this hotel was different to others but it is not. Why Italian hotels insist on letting all cold cuts and cheeses sweat in the summer heat is beyond me. Reconstituted orange juices also....any dishes that were finished were not quickly replenished and only 2 staff for the whole breakfast room was not enough. Finally a tourist got very angry with one waiter removing her plate that she had left on the table, covered with a serviette to cover it from the flies whilst she went to get something else. On her return she asked where her plate was and the waiter started to argue with her and said \"I can't wait to leave this horrible place!!\" It wasn't that horrible, but I think she had had enough. I wouldn't stay here again either. Enjoy if you do and go to breakfast at 7am to enjoy it otherwise it may all be gone.

This hotel which has about 24 rooms is beautifully situated. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating. Upon our arrival they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and fruit. Our room had a terrace overlooking the pool area and the surrounding sea area. The staff helped us get reservations to two local restaurants. On the morning we departed, the staff provided a special breakfast for us as we were leaving before the usual breakfast time. And yes breakfast is included in the stay and of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip this was absolutely the best prepared breakfast which is served adjacent to the pool area. If you are in the area, stay here!!

We really enjoyed the hotel and its surroundings. Although it's outside the town, it's very accessible with a couple of nice restaurants within 2 minutes walk. The town itself is a pleasant walk away too. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely with a friendly staff. Our one issue was an ineffective air-conditioning unit. The hotel tried to fix this and ultimately moved us to another room, so happy with that response too. I would really like the opportunity to get back to this part of Sardinia and would look for this hotel immediately if such a trip arises

Wonderful stay for our Silver Wedding

Wonderful hotel, great staff and a view to die for. Had a great week at the Balocco. Staff were friendly, helpful and always willing to give advice. Our tip would be to hire a car unless you are very adventurous and try the very infrequent bus services (ARST & SunTours are the best). Our room had the most spectacular views (a kettle would be a great addition to the room). Local restaurant Spinnaker was great and if you starve yourself for a day (and you are not a vegetarian!) go to the Aruana Brazilian style restaurant you will really enjoy if you are a meat lover. Both restaurants are just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. There is a free boat ferry between the Porto Cervo Marina and the port but check times.

Very nice stay at a very good hotel. The hotel has very nice views and is also very comfortable. The restaurants in the area did not appeal to us so we went down to the port and had a very good meal with a great view of the large and beautiful yachts docked there.

Lovely green hotel in Porto Cervo

The landscaping and the view are fantastic. I will go back again. The hotel staff were very professional, accommodating and friendly. I really enjoyed it. Great moon-watching.

Enjoy and unwind

Hotel is in great location overlooking Porto Cervo Marina and offers great views over the area. Interior of hotel is beautifully furnished in local style. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Great place to use as a base for day trips to beaches and other cities, enjoy and unwind.

So disappointed!!

The hotel itself is nice. It is set on a busy road but is quiet and overlooks porto cervo (which is lovely but there was no one there in july!). unlike many of the comments we actually found the breakfast and the staff in the kitchen to the highlight of our stay. What I am really incensed about it that the hotel recommends a car hire company (which costs a fortune) and will arrange it for you but takes absolutely no accountability when angelo and his team illegally withdrew over 400 AU dollars from your account after we returned the car (this is in excess of the circa 200 we paid for a days hire). Much of the money was returned following numerous attempts to contact them. The hotel claims angelo said we did not fill up the car, which was an absolute lie - we were able to tell them which service station we went to but they still withheld some of our money. management at hotel balocco say it is nothing to do with them and to contact angelo. he has only returned one of my emails and only speaks Italian so there has been no resolution. this is dishonest practise and as a result I would not recommend this hotel. if they organise and promote a company they should be prepared to help in the event that the company rips you off!!

Great location, and reasonable price given region

Balocco is a nice hotel with lovely views over Porto Cervo. The restaurant (where breakfast is served) has amazing panoramic views and is along side the pool. However, the room we had was a little dated but did also have good views from the balcony. I understand it has been quiet this year and perhaps we got reasonable rates due to that reason. If we'd paid full price, I would have been disappointed. That said I wouldn't want to take much away from this hotel where we did have a lovely break for few days.
