Staff were friendly, room was nice and clean and it was great to have a Starbucks on site. I probably would have booked somewhere else if I knew there was an event on (Boogie Bingo) as it was loud and the people were rowdy. There was chew, which included police being needed. It didn’t give me much hope seeing a bouncer on the hotel reception. Wasn’t too bad as we went out and didn’t get back until late but I suspect if I intended to go to bed early and rest it would have been a nightmare

We were allocated a disabled-access room that was not suitable for us as non-disabled guests. (Raised toilet and bed, cold water, lowered sink).
We were not informed in advance of the type of room we had been allocated. On checkout we were told that this was the only room available due to our late check-in. However, this was particularly frustrating having had booked in advanced and given that when we had previously
enquired about checking in slightly earlier than the standard check-in time, we were advised this would incur an additional charge of £15.
The room itself was not appropriate for our needs. The furniture and bathroom were designed specifically for disabled use and were not suitable or comfortable for non-disabled guests. Had we been informed of the room type in advance, we would have been able to make an informed decision or request an alternative arrangement.
In addition, there were building works taking place on the exterior of the hotel, which were directly outside the window of our room. We were not informed of these works prior to our stay, and they further detracted from our overall experience.
Overall, the lack of clear communication regarding room allocation, the unsuitable nature of the room provided, and the undisclosed building works resulted in a stay that fell below the standard we expected.

The rooms were very nice. Well equipped, some biscuits in the drinks tray would have been nice, and would have expected go a hotel like this. The staff were very nice - the check in staff and the staff in the bar/restaurant. It was difficult to find the way in due to the building work going on and we arrived in the dark, and the car park was packed due to the gym and pool being so popular. But other than that all was good.

Room was in an okay condition, but very dusty.

I changed rooms.

The first room I had, lights were flickering and there was a door in the middle connecting two rooms. The door was unlocked, but I could only lock it from my side. If I was in the other room, someone could have walked easily walked in and I wouldn’t know, as it would appear the door was locked. Staff should take better care to ensure security.

My second room didnt have a door in the room, and was generally clean.

There was disruptions throughout the day as there was workers

The rooms were £100/night. They provided an iron, board, kettle, tea/coffee/milk. But no water. I would at the very least expect water.

Wow have stayed at The Village Ashton before but they have obviously improved things. Bed incredibly comfortable, little extras in room, huge TV and a fitness ball and mat in room. Check in smooth and easy. Will definitely stay again and recommend.

i was really disappointed with our 3 night stay. The staff were fine. The bedroom wasn't cleaned once. The coffee and tea wasn't topped up despite my repeated requested and lastly the bed was uncomfy and the pillows were hard. Walking through a cloud of smoking people to get into the hotel was undesirable as well.

I’ve stayed here a few times. I just really love the spa, pool and steam room which stays open until 10pm. The hotel is right next to half a dozen restaurant chains. Staff are friendly and appropriate. I did wake up to a raven knocking on the window one morning, like a day after I had told a story to my girlfriend about a raven knocking on my window elsewhere. That was in 2014, but it hasn’t happened the three times I have stayed there recently. Ha ha. The curse must be lifted. There is a great looking sports bar downstairs, but I haven’t used it. If I need to stay in the Manchester area for any reason I will go and stay here.

Lots of construction work going on which was not listed at time of booking. Neither did staff at the hotel mention this when checking in. Woken up early in morning to sound of drilling, hammering, lorrie’s and a huge cherry picker outside the window of our room. Noise so loud unable to watch TV or make calls in room. Reception manager stated that Village are not doing a good job of broadcasting information about the construction.

Hotels.Com did a really good job and refunded

The noise from the drilling this morning was so loud, I wasn’t aware of the refurb work being undertaken and if I was I would have chosen another location. I planned to do some business calls this morning but due to drilling being so loud I had to sit in the car park to do these. Staff were courteous and pleasant during my stay.

As a disabled person i was very disappointed to see that most of the disabled car parking spaces were taken up by people who were using the gym.
Out of 10 cars parked in the disabled spaces only 2 held blue badges.

The lounge/ bar area is described as \"vibrant\". I would describe it as noisy, full of drunken groups. We had booked a table for dinner and could not hold a conversation due to the noise. There is nowhere else to sit. I can see how that attracts young party goers, but it isn't a restfull place to stay. The breakfast layout seemed uncoordinated. Pity, because most everything else was good. But we won't ever stay there again.

Stayed over after a gig at Co-op Live. Handy location by tram stop. Arrived back at 10:50 p.m. to be told the bar was closed! What?!!!! Room was ok, mattress too hard for my liking but we're all different, same with 6 ton duvet provided! Nice breakfast at pub next door and appreciated the 11:00 a,m, check out. Would stay again, but will be bringing a cooler bag of own drinks!

Hotel is covered in scaffolding whilst the cladding gets done so not very welcoming. People banging and knocking on doors in the middle of the night. Unable to use gym facilities until check in without an extra charge, which I think is poor. Good location for the tram to Ethiad and retail park with restaurants next to hotel.

Arrival was disappointing the building was full of scaffold along the bedroom windows as cladding being replaced. Lots of people stood outside makeshift entrance smoking. No instructions in room for air con so very hot and couldn’t open window due to road noise and then builders in morn. Bed was the worst so uncomfortable but hopefully with the build works the rooms are being tackled to so should all resolve it self. Staff kind and helpful. Gym:pool no notice it was public and swimming lessons on so didn’t use it. Very very busy facility, great location for trams

It’s always very difficult to beat a village hotel and if you’ve been to them before you know what you’re getting this one did not disappoint.
Super clean room very comfortable bed lovely shower, clean soft towels and all the facilities, including of course the gym and swimming pool that you could want. You just won’t find better for the price.

The village hotel has excellent facilities and friendly staff. The rooms are a nice size and the cushions where nice and soft. The only issue is if you are on the back of the hotel the noise from the gym fans are to loud and keep your awake. The hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Very disappointing, dirty and uncomfortable stay

The first room we were given was dirty with dirt on the pillows and feses in the toilet and the toilet also wouldn’t flush. The noise from the extractor (? From the pool) was too loud and due to it being warm I wanted to keep the window open but couldn’t and so we changed to room 332 which also had a dirt mark on the pillows and a couple of the towels were stained. I have never woke up with such bad aches and headaches as I did here! The pillows were lumpy and hard and it was not a relaxing stay.
The worse part of the stay was my encounter with the recoetionist yesterday morning. I went to ask about extending our stay and she was unhelpful and just suggested I book via a third party despite me mentioning that I have a gym membership and wondered how I could book with my discount. She was abrupt and unhelpful and asked me to pre authorise my card to which I questioned why I didn’t have to do this for the first nights stay, she then asked me about parking and asked me to pay £10 for parking (for the Sunday and Monday) however I explained that the machine said ‘parking on us today’ and was not advised that I needed to pay. She was rude and said “like I said somebody mustn’t have changed the machine over” and if I didn’t pay then I would receive a fine.

We have stayed at the village numerous times over the years and this was the worst stay yet.Really sad that it has got this way

Things are being updated on the property, so parking was an issue.

The staff were great, but overwhelmed or understaffed, the bar area was a real mess, plates, glasses, general mess everywhere.

The room itself was brilliant... spacious, clean, and comfortable...... 4 to 5 stars for the room.

Spacious clean double room, very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with a relaxing rainfall shower. The room also had iron and ironing board - nicely practical.
All in all a very pleasant and comfortable 4 day stay.
P.S. Air Conditioning a massive plus.

Excellent position for Coop live

Nice hotel, lovely check in and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Bed extremely comfortable. Excellent position near to tram stops and lots of food places. Restaurant and Starbucks in the hotel. We went to an event at the Coop live and it was perfect, as we left there were queues a mile long to go back into the centre of Manchester but nothing coming out to the village hotel, glad we chose this one.

Slightly disappointed with the hotel expected more for the price we paid. Didn’t feel we had the club experience.
We had staff coming into our room once while I was just getting finished dressing. Totally unacceptable. Then housekeeping entered at 10.35 when check out was supposed to be 12. Spoke to reception about both issues and was told staff shouldn’t even be coming in until after we had checked out. Very disconcerting. We were offered no kind of compensation just a sorry not good enough

Staff helpful as always, i had left my plug for my charger at home and they were able to supply one fir me. I also ordered room service with an instruction to knock gently which was followed perfectly.
The only drawback was the flush on the toilet was broken,it still flyshed but needed a lot more effort to get it to work.

Hotel has lots of facilities but extra charges.
Parking is free at the weekend but £5 a day on weekdays.
The breakfast is expensive so we didn’t have it.
The gym and pool are good but you have to pay extra for it.
The bed was comfortable and the room clean. But a bit worn and beaten around the edges.
Very convenient for the tram.

Check in was nice and easy, Room had no storage for clothes, no draws no wardrobe or cupboard space just 6 hangers in front on the mirror 😀. Pillows were like sand bags, Shower was clean but no 2nd shower head so wife didn't have shower as she just had her hair done. Very over priced wouldn't stay there again 🙄

As a regular user of the hotel I am consistently seeing the issues over and over. To the name a few, cleanliness of the room is overlooked, there is dust and surfaces are not wiped down, Carpets are not clean and in the toilet I could see hair on the floor. TV remote had dust on it.
