Great little hotel in the Northern Quarter. Loved our stay this weekend just gone. Staff were all really friendly, the entire place had a beautiful smell of amber throughout, and the use of the space was very impressive.

Appreciate that it is purely a space thing but somewhere to hang clothes would be the only improvement for me, there were hangers on the back of the door but no real space to put things.

If you aren't comfortable with the person you are travelling with this might not be the hotel for you. The smaller rooms mean you will be doing your business very close to the other person in the room. If you're comfortable with that then don't think twice about staying.

For fans of good beer as well, the Port Street Beer House round the corner is banging.

Citipark car park is a short walk away, very easily accessed and a hell of a lot cheaper than a train.

We booked this stay for our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. The lovely touches of our bags being taken to our room for us having left them earlier, the 5pm Prosecco and being able to have a cocktail brought to the room in the evening were all fab. We loved breakfast in bed and the choices suited us perfectly. The location is great - close to town and everything we wanted to do. We will are already planning to return next year!

What find stunning hotel , great location , attentive staff . Highlights breakfast in bed at a time to suit , breakfast not to everyone’s taste but I loved it . Free Prosecco and nibbles between 5-7 . Late night cookies and milk . Free coffee tea 24 hrs and large water bottles in your room . Room hairdryer straighteners lovely toiletries.. think only thing missing would be a wee biscuit in your room to go with your tea. The bed was so comfortable.Some great recommendations listed in the room which we visited a few , Mala and a jazz club .. will definitely stay again .

This hotel was amazing, absolutly spotless, room was large and equipped with everything you needed and more! The whole hotel was modern and stylish. The staff where so attentive, nothing was too much. They frequently checked that we had everything we needed. There was free proseco on arrival, unlimited free hot drinks, and even free milk and cookies before bed! There was also free slippers and ear plugs. There was hair dryer and straightners in the room along side still and sparkling water and a radio and tv. We had breakfast in bed, we chose the night before and also chose a time slot for it to be delivered. We would recommend this to everyone and will definitely be booking again!

Booked for my husband's birthday. Before we went, we had several texts from the hotel asking us to cancel with Expedia and rebook directly. I didn't, as we had used vouchers with Expedia, and I would have lost money, and also I didn't like the way they were trying to pressure me to do this. On arrival, we were asked to provide ID and a bank card for a £100 pre-payment. I don't carry cards anymore, and this resulted in quite a heated exchange with the manager as she would not budge on this and in the end, took a £200 payment from my bank via my phone. I was upset by this as it left me short of money for the planned birthday expenses. She said we should have had an email explaining their terms, but I hadn't received this. When I checked my emails later, the email she mentioned only arrived after 6pm, so I would never have seen it before we left in the morning. It really felt like the £200 was a punishment for not bringing a bank card. This soured our initial visit, but for the rest of the stay, we didn't see the manager again, so we tried to relax and enjoy things. Ozzy was welcoming and provided great customer service. The breakfast trays were ok, but the drinks were tepid by the time they reached us on the top floor. The 'free' drinks and nibbles are only between 7-9, so if you go out for the evening, you don't get them, so all in all the treats offered felt a tad gimmicky in the end. The room was tiny and the bathroom even more so. Overall it was ok but not for us.

Amazing staff in a ‘different’ hotel. Lovely experience, with a glass of Prosecco and bubbles, and other complimentary items which were lovely touches. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and delivered to the room.

In places the room could do with some refining, there was a hole in the wall where the door closer had hit it, paint cans visible under the stairs. Minor points but at this price point is worth considering.

Stylish hotel with great touches. Staff friendly and professional. As with all hotels in this area, the sound from the streets in the evening was very loud. There was no aircon so we has to have the windows open and didn't sleep well. The standard king room was the smallest hotel room I've come acrosd. There was nowhere to put clothes apart from on top of bags or on the floor. Feel it should be described as a small room rather than standard. Some extra hooks would help with clothes.

We would probably stay again but only in the winter when the windows wouldnt bask for a larger top floor room.

Damp & musty lets it down

It’s a real shame as visually the hotel is very nice and effort has been put in.

However I was in one of the basement rooms and was immediately greeted with a musty damp smell.

There is no AC or extractor in the bathroom so the room is constantly damp. The hotel would really benefit from AC to clear the damp air.

I did appreciate the morning breakfast delivered to the bedroom, was a nice touch.

Great base for going out to socialise. The rooms on the lower ground were subject to a lot of external noise, particularly with it being the weekend.
Water in the shower was cold on arrival. In fairness the staff responded promptly and resolved it but the following the same happened again.
We requested 1 gluten free breakfast due to my wifes gluten allergy but what was provided was not what we ordered.

The look of the hotel was great, lots of nice touches, great decor and style, cookies at night and prosecco in the evening, lovely bathroom, breakfast in bed was a nice touch but the room was small so there was nowhere to even put the tray for breakfast and as we were in the basement the room was uncomfortably damp so you woke up feeling cold and clammy as the sheets felt damp to the touch. Staff were apologetic and understanding but could do nothing to solve the problem.

Lovely restored building, very quirky. Lacks storage space but if you’re only there for 1 or 2 nights this is unlikely to be an issue. Extremely comfortable beds. We experienced some outside noise very early in the morning (shouting & smashing bottles) but this wouldn’t deter me from booking again, we really enjoyed our stay.

Brilliant boutique hotel in heart of Manchester!

Fabulous hotel with super friendly and thoughtful staff. Fantastic value for money especially given it's location in the heart of the Northern quarter. It was the little touches that made this hotel stand out - a complimentary glass of prosecco between 5&7 pm at the bar in reception. Which whilst compact and bijou was a beautiful place to sit. Coffee machines and fresh fruit were also available in the communal areas as complimentary. Ear plugs, slippers and complimentary breakfast were all available in the beautifully decorated room (albeit the room was quite compact - worth selecting one of the bigger rooms if staying for more than one night). Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again!

was supposed to be 215ft2 as apposed to 129ft2 for a standard room.
Room we were given felt very small so asked at reception about the bigger rooms as that is what i had paid for.
i was told that the rooms were all the same size and they don't do a \"superior\"room.
Also the bed was advertised a King Size but was not.
hotel and staff were lovely, and i would definitely stay there again. Just slightly upset about the fact i had paid for a bigger room which did not exist.

It’s one of the best boutique hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms are comfortable and bed is great.
All the facilities are modern and new. Even has a hairdryer and hair straighten in the bathroom.
The small details make such a difference.
A glass of Prosecco nibbles and cookies and hot chocolate! Then as if that’s not enough they include breakfast delivered to your room on a tray! Amazing !

The hosts at the Cow Hollow are incredible. Very hospitable and welcoming right on arrival. Property is as advertised and you even get breakfast in bed on the house. Roughly a 10 minute walk to Piccadilly station and nightlife is just around the corner. I would stay here again and highly recommend.

We have had an amazing stay at The Cow Hollow! The hotel is small but situated well for all the sights of Manchester. The staff were attentive and friendly and really enhanced the experience. The room we had was small but as we were out and exploring for most of the day, it didn't bother us. There is complimentary tea and coffee in the main part of the hotel and a coffee stand downstairs, as there is no facilities in the room. We enjoyed free prosecco and nibbles in the late afternoon and cookies and hot chocolate in the evening. We also had a choice of free breakfast and drink bought to our room the next day.

It was an amazing experience and we'd definitely visit again.

The building itself was nice, decor etc but as we were put in a room in the basement area you could hear everyone walking above. Also you could hear other people in their rooms talking and even putting the keys in doors.
They offer a mill cookies service at 2200. I’ve had them in other hotels and they were great warm soft melted cookies with warm milk. Here your given 3 Maryland cookies and glass of milk. Not worth the trip to the lobby. Also offer a breakfast and a time to be sent to your room. We wanted a lay in and choose 0900 but that didn’t matter because the next room had theirs at 0730 and we know because it’s so loud with people knocking on the doors etc. so we were also up at 0730. My wife picked the omelette which more resembled a deflated balloon or one of them rubber joke sick toys from the 90’s. I had croissant and granola, croissant was actually really nice but I didn’t even receive the granola. For the price of the room at £159 on weekday I expected a bit better.

The room we stayed in was compact. There isn’t anywhere to hang clothes but it might advise that on their website (unsure).
Also our room wasn’t the cleanest. The shower needs a deep clean to remove the mould build up on the tiles and seals.

Lots of positives though about this place, the staff are great, breakfast hit the spot, a free drink of Prosecco if required, milk and cookies after 10pm.

It’s a great location for access to the Northern Quarter which is a cool hipster environment.

I booked this hotel based on the previous reviews.
On arrival it looked a lovely little place, and the staff were super friendly.
The 1st red flag that I didnt pick up on, was getting given ear plugs on arrival.
Our room (#5) was ground floor next to a very busy street leading to an outdoor square with many bars.
On return to the room around 11pm it was too hot to sleep so we had no option than to open the windows. There is no A/C or ventilation of any sorts, and a fan pushing warm air around the room is of little use.
With the windows open we were pretty much trying to get to sleep on a bed in a thoroughfare. We heard every conversation from the hundreds of people leaving the city.
At 3am we finally got a few minutes of silence, but this was then ruined by the dishwashing machines humming away in the hotel bar, which was the other side of the wall our headboard was on. And then the outside noise continued.
We called it a night at 03:30 and checked out of the hotel, we'd had enough. Even the night staff mentioned how annoying they found the hum of the dishwasher and had themselves tried to tell management about it.
I get its an old building, I get its a busy area, I'm not unrealistic, I lived in London for 10 yrs and know some cities dont sleep. This was just a no win situation. I dont wear ear plugs at home, I dont expect to pay £170 for a night away and have to wear ear defenders to get a good nights sleep.
Just cant recommend this place, sorry.

Good staff, but a cold shower makes a poor Hotel

The staff super super helpful and friendly. However, a cold shower on both days is a rather unpleasant way to start each day.
We did raise this on day-1, but it was not better on day-2.

The room allocated was very tiny, with no storage, drawers or wardrobe. We had to put out case on the old bit of floor available, which meant we had to climb in and out of bed.

As it was very hot weather, a fan was provided this took up more of the precious floor space. it would have been nice it the staff would have opened the window and put the fan in place before our arrival.

The room reminded me of living in NYC, between the room size and having to walk up the stairs, except the bathroom was separated out by a door (unlike some apartments in The Big Apple). It was a very well done bathroom too, with lovely Lanvin products and not only a hair dryer, but curling iron and straightening iron. (And cute inscription on the bag holding them all.)
And did I mention the mini bluetooth speaker that you could connect to your phone and play your tunes, or the free Netflix for when you returned from a day out and wanted to chill? 😘
Loved being able to easily walk to so many places nearby, with the hotel being in the center of the city. It’s definitely a place to stay if you just want to drop off your stuff and go exploring.
Last but not least, there was the yummy breakfast of granola and oats, chocolate croissant, orange juice, a banana, and hot beverage of your choice.

We had a really great stay at The Cow Hollow Hotel. Lovely room, friendly staff, close to shops and entertainment. The complimentary evening nibbles and the late night milk/hot chocolate and cookies were a lovely touch. We would definitely stay again, and recommend to others

Really nice stay, comfortable night stay, staff were great, really friendly. They know their limits and adapt to them greatly, offering coffees any time for the bar, bringing continental breakfast to your room which was nice and freshly made.

Fantastic little gem of a place

Fantastic stat and room five is the place to be, beautiful bathroom and room. Right where we needed to be as we had a concert at coop live arena. Not far from the train station and the staff were so helpful.

We loved the Cow Hollow hotel. It had a beautiful lobby, great coffee and bar, and a super cute room. The street that the hotel was on was not the best, and didn't feel safe at night. Next time, we will probably stay in a different area.
