where to start: Showerhead detached from the wall and water started streaming down the wall, shower soap dispenser broken, so no shower, bathroom ceiling fan broken and only one thin pillow. Rooms constructed from partition walls with conversations next door clearly audible. English breakfast was either over cooked or re-heated. I won't be back.

The room was uncomfortably hot even with the window open, difficult to sleep because of the heat - couldn’t adjust it in room. Very worn fixtures and fittings, paint peeling on the ceiling. Lift was rather slow and elderly, a little disconcerting. Very loud music (and other noises!) from next door rooms - walls very thin.
Needed passport or driving licence on arrival, which I didn’t see on any of the confirmation emails. Another person checking in at the same time as me had the same issue - not at all clear when booking.
WiFi only free in public areas.
Woken at 2.30am by the police entering our corridor and announcing themselves and then someone shouting, we assume being arrested.
Amazed it got a ‘good’ feedback rating on hotels.com - I would expect much better for the money we spent.

This is a cheap hotel in the city centre, it has everything you need, it is a bit dated but it is clean and the rooms are a decent size. Staff are friendly and helpful as well.

Room was ok but very tatty. Only discovered late at night upon returning to room that none of the sockets in room worked. Couldn’t make a hot drink or charge phones. Shower not working - cold water only. Cheap hotel but fundamental stuff (not luxury extras) not working. Reported it to reception in the morning but got the standard ‘we can only apologise sir’ response. Won’t be going back.

The room wasn’t clean.
In the bathroom, along the edges of the walls and floors, there were pubic hairs.
There were paint stains on the floor.
The doors into the corridors slammed all through the night. The walls were thin and I could hear other customers in the night.
I tried to raise the issue of paint on the floor because it looked like it was something else, and I got asked why I hadn’t told them earlier and scolded. (I had a meeting so I had to run out). Eventually a higher member of staff offered to change my room or have someone come and clean the paint stains.
The staff were nice for the most part, but I was quite upset with the way I was spoken to initially, and then also the pubic hair stuck to the walls in the bathroom.

Considering i checked in online to make it easier when you get there, you still have to check in again when you get there. The double toom.was very basic and smell fusty. Even the bedding didn't smell fresh. The bathroom shower leaked all over the floor flooding the bathroom

The building is really nice and located very central so you’re just a walk away from bars, restaurants, and shops. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The room itself was great! We opted for the no window double room but ended up having a window anyway and the room was a really good size. Powerful shower and really clean bathroom. Only downside was that the bed wasn’t the comfiest and there wasn’t a light, only lamps but that didn’t really bother us. Bar downstairs is great with pool tables and lots of screens for sports matches and prices were good. No complaints, definitely worth it for the price!

The price was great and the location was so central. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. But the mattress was very old and uncomfortable. The room was dusty and was very noisy - I could hear everything in the next room and outside. Especially from the next room - every word of arguments, every noise of sex and all.

The receptionist, an Indian man, wanted to give me a single bed despite my reservation being for a king-size bed, but thankfully I intervened. The room was small and not very clean. Also, the room is very stuffy and has no windows, it's like a prison cell. Like a prison room.

Room was clean and bed was comfy, room was big. I arrived early in Manchester - they did not accommodate earlier check in. When I went back at 3pm to check-in, the staff is pretty slow and inefficient. There should be a line for already booked guests and a line for walk-in booking guests. Due to this bottle neck, it took 1 hour to check in until I am in my room. Hotel is centrally located close to food and shopping and Chinatown. It’s also close to bus station. I was able to leave luggage for storage until my trip on the evening. Overall, this was an average stay. There are plenty of better hotels and stays in my opinion where staff could be more accommodating and more efficient.

Checked in and went to my room. Turned the shower on, but the controls didn't work properly. The water was absolutely scalding hot and couldn't be changed. Went back to reception and spoke to someone on the desk. He said \"we have more than 400 rooms and are sold out. If every room is using the shower at the same time, it will affect how much hot water you have. Just let it run for a few minutes and it will change.\" Someone from maintenance came to have a look and recommended me moving to a different room. I moved rooms, and this one had loads of sockets and switches that didn't work. The main light switch wasn't actually connected to a light, the lamp on the table didn't work and the sockets behind the table didn't work either. Thankfully I had a lamp on the bedside table that worked.

Great cheap option for a hotel in the city centre. Perfect setting and drinks were very affordable. Rooms are very loud at night due to it's setting which is unavoidable but maybe some double glazing or draft excluding on windows may help with this

The hotel at first impressions was very grand but we where on the 5th floor .The room had no window to open which we had booked this but found too warm. plus we were woken up a few times with late night guests coming back who were very noisy . I felt the breakfast was minimal as there wasn’t any fruit to have with yogurt and I didn’t notice any crossants either . Overall ok for the price .

My experience at this hotel was terrible. First of all, it is a very old hotel, and it seems that nothing has been improved for decades. Everything was bad — the staff, rooms, bathrooms, elevators, and even the breakfast.

The double bed was extremely small and uncomfortable. During the night, the room became very cold because the hotel turned off the heating system, which made sleeping very difficult.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. Other than that, I honestly wonder how Expedia continues to list this hotel on their platform.

Overall, this hotel does not meet even basic expectations, and I would not recommend it to anyone

I was really unhappy with my stay. The room was ok but the bed and pillows were terrible. My pillow one hard and I only had one and old and the mattress was lumpy and I could feel the springs. It was late so I didn’t go down to reception to rectify it as it was about 2 am.

Firstly the room they put us in first was not the room we payed for it did not even have a bathroom and we had 2 small children age 1 and 3. We then got the family room we paid for however ran the bath later that day and it was black the water we asked for a cot in the room for the baby when we checked in around 12 and we were still waiting at 9pm. For the man to come with the cot and tried to give us a broken cot

Unfortunately, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The manager was exceptionally rude and stated that if I wanted to change rooms, I would first have to check out and then accept whatever alternative they chose to offer.

The room itself was in an unacceptable condition. The window did not close properly, making the room both cold and very noisy. The sink was cracked down the middle, and the wallpaper was peeling extensively throughout the room.

Despite raising a formal complaint, head office has failed to respond for over two months, which demonstrates a complete lack of customer care.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid staying here under any circumstances.

We weren’t aware until we checked in-even after checking in online- that you need a photographic ID for the lead guest and nearly couldn’t check in. The hotel must have been magnificent at some point in the past but it’s basic and a little bare now, which is a shame. The attached bar and red have been refurbished and look lovely. The breakfast was ok if you like a full English or similar- but other than cornflakes there is not much else on offer.

I would put excellent but I don't like the 10am check out unless paying extra, especially when my arrival was not sure if the room was ready because I arrived around midday. Thankfully my room was ready. Luckily I was leaving my room anyway at 10.15 but had received a knock on the door to remind me of the overdue 10am. Just something I have never experienced before and I personally don't like it. I love the hotel, ticks all boxes but this weird 10am check out was not clear to me when booking via ebookers. Only one plug in the room is a little restrictive too. Otherwise great
