Cheap but not cheerful. Rude, u helpful staff at reception. Phone in room didn’t work so had to traipse down to reception (in an entirely different building) to ask for an iron and ironing board only to be looked at like I had ten heads. They didn’t have any which is ludicrous - not they’re with other people. Didn’t have any full stop. No hint of an apology. Rude as anything.

Cleanliness of the room was questionable.

The staff were friendly to me and my pet but come breakfast - I was told no dogs in the dining room and I would have to eat in the bar. I explained that this was not possible as I couldn’t leave my dog unaccompanied. In the end they gave me a seat at the entrance to the dining room. Although adequate this doesn’t portray a ‘dog friendly’ message!

Average property but good value for the price point. The fact you can get a copy of the Financial Times and the New York Times every morning for free is remarkable albeit a bit ridiculous when you can’t get a complimentary dental kit (they don’t stock them).

My second stay at A&O was unfortunately a disappointment. I was initially checked into a room with one double and two single beds, which didn't match my booking. To make matters worse, the window was jammed shut.

When I requested a move, I was transferred from House 1 to House 2, which felt like a significant downgrade. The room quality, entrance, and security felt inferior, and even the lift required a key card just to operate. Later that evening, I discovered the new room lacked a fridge—something my previous room and past stays included. Having brought food and drinks to keep chilled, this was incredibly inconvenient.

Across my stays here, I’ve noticed a massive lack of consistency in room size, lighting, and amenities. I expected a lateral move for the inconvenience, not a downgrade.

Front desk staff were great but business is kinda strange. Checkout is 10am, there was a sign that said no alcohol consumption in room, the room was quite warm but central air didn’t really work. Also toilet smelled kinda off and saw that there was feces in water in the toilet brush. But the container was attached to the wall so see how it’s difficult to clean for the cleaner. A lot of chain hotels are similar so these little details make a&o stand out in a bad way

On arrival there was 3 members of staff on reception and I was told to use a QR code to check in. Sent to a room that hadn't been serviced and had dirty sheets on the bed and towels on the floor. The next room has stains on the bedsheets, a used cotton bud in the bathroom and receipts left on the floor from the previous occupant. I would have given the stay 1 star but the breakfast was fairly nice (though basic). This is no longer a hotel and the reviews I think are from previous management company. Now a hostel so basic facilities (no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms).

Staff were very helpful and friendly. My friend and I booked a twin room which was a very good price. Overall it was clean but there was no plug in the sink and no mattress protector on the beds. The room has a safe and a small fridge, but the biggest disappointment was the absence of a kettle and tea/coffee facilities. Maybe this is a generation thing, but it has put us of returning. We had a drink in the bar which was very nice and reasonably priced. I suppose you get what you pay for.

I had booked in doubts, but was pleasantly surprised, all lobbies were clean and decent, spacious and good airflow, reception staffs we warm and welcoming, my room was upgraded for no reason, which made my 3yr old very happy, property was in a god location to lots of restaurants and fun places.
Downside is no tea & coffe in the room, which wasn’t helpful for a tea drinker while working at night & I had a child who needed warm water. Was only there on business for 2 nights so we just managed , I will be coming back it was very convenient we didn’t even use any AC or heating we were warm enough despite the rain

Had to move rooms three times, its hostel accommodation one side and not until we complained we were moved to main building and was given room keys to someone else’s occupied room, which we only found out when we walked into their room ans saw all their belongings, horrific and wasted most our time moving around on the Friday. I have made a complaint and expect a full refund as we were told at the hotel !

Also our handle on the door on the third room was nearly falling off. Not a secure place to leave your belongings! We were told the second part of the hotel is going under renovations…… I don’t think so I think they put customers in that building first and keep the main building for families etc. not acceptable standards for safety in terms of we could have walked in that room and disturbed people it’s a good job they were not in their room cos I think they would be fuming that their belongings were left open to complete strangers in a hotel ! Never again and as stated I’ll expect a full refund as promised by your staff members at the hotel as we paid on arrival ! Should I not receive a response soon I’m taking it further.

The cleanliness of the room was not great on arrival, very stained carpet, couple of marks on the bed sheets, and a drain smell from the shower. Bed was actually pretty comfortable and room was quiet. There was a problem at check-in, the hotel had not received our booking, but they sorted this pretty quickly.

Absolute chaos at check in, keys not working after queuing for half an hour to get them, half the hotel shut off and fences blocking communal areas, reception tried to charge us for our pre paid room, no cups or kettle or any facilities in the room. Pretty poor overall. The staff were trying their best amongst the chaos.

Room carpet and curtains were dusty an didn’t give a clean appearance. Very outdated facilities, such as bathroom and separate WC. The usb charging plug did not work. Very limited breakfast options for gluten and lactose intolerance. No Lactose free yoghurt, for example.

I travel from Malta to Manchester frequently, and I always choose the Novotel Manchester Centre for my accommodation. It is centrally located, the room rates per night are very reasonable, the staff are friendly, and the rooms are always clean and tidy. Breakfast is also good and includes a lot of items. Highly recommended for those traveling with family, especially children.

Reception was fantastic and very welcoming, my room was clean and comfortable although a few carpet stains were noticeable.

The bar downstairs was great (although I only had one drink being a solo traveller), and breakfast was good although it was so busy on the second morning that it was slightly uncomfortable with guests bouncing all over the place randomly, but I didn't bother with breakfast on the other mornings anyway as I didn't have the time so no real issues here either

Overall a great hotel for the money and great location as well. I walked to the station in less than 15 minutes at a leisurely stroll

the staff were lovely and so welcoming! no faults to the hotel room it’s self, bed was very comfy and the bathroom was nice. However the air con didn’t seem to be working very well and it was very warm! the remote also states that netflix and youtube are available but they didn’t work, the only downfalls. everything else was 10/10 would definitely stay here again, such a nice hotel in a perfect location.

Great for a one night theatre stay.

We stayed for one night as a family whilst at the theatre. Great location for the theatre and the main shops.Hotel itself was lovely, as were the staff.
For us the only negative was the view from the rooms. Both our rooms looked over unkept derelict wasteland.
Keep the curtains closed and you should be happy.

Leak in toilet ceiling, no maintence staff on duty. We packed up & moved by ourselves to another room which had problem with heating vent buzzing non stop, staff turned off the heating, previous occupant an Airline Pilot complained about being kept awake all night. Why move a family of 4 into another room with problems, plus we waited 3 hrs for another bed to be brought into the room for one child. Manager offered us a complimemtary drink at the Bar and then tried to charge us for the drinks on the bill. The Manager was not helpful at all. Breakfast cost £15 pp there were lots of empty hot trays with no food in E.g. like Eggs, staff were very slow at replacing the food, variety of fruit, meats, cheese very poor and no yogurts. Area good near Chinatown. We would not stay at this hotel ever again. One dissatisfied customer.
