The windows don’t open much and there is no air conditioning. Opening a window was impractical at night because it is in a busy area for nightlife and traffic including sirens. Even during the day, it was noisy with windows closed in the kitchen and living room, which didn’t have double windows like the bedroom.

The plug in the bath could not be pushed in order to take a bath. I tried everything and assumed it was broken or by design, to save on costs.

Like others have said, rooms are quite dark and lighting can be weak.

Most channels on the TV did not work or would freeze because of weak signal.

Housekeeping is weekly.

There is a Tesco and Starbucks across the road and a Spar a few minutes down the road.

Cannot fault Whitworth Locke, excellent location - just a short walk from Piccadilly Station, the rooms are ideal and although we didn’t really use the kitchen it was nice to have it there.

This is our second stay there and we were placed in a room further away from the front which was a lot better than last time as then we could hear a lot of noise from Canal Street. Although that room had a better view than this time around (we had a view of a car park) it was much more preferable as it was much quieter.

Such a beautiful place, would definitely book again.

Everything was awesome, cleanliness, walkability, friendly staff, stocked apartment for cooking, laundry, etc.
The only negative was a silly check-in rule. Traveled 5 hours to get to Manchester so we were tired. Check-in had to be done online prior to arriving. Arrived at 3 and if we wanted access to our place we’d have pay 30 additional pounds. A ridiculous new rule. So you can sit with all your luggage and groceries in front of the reception desk. Luckily everything else was awesome.

Extremely friendly staff, intuitive layout and in room amenities including cook top, dishwasher, cookware, a spacious bathroom, and easy operations on all appliances - Also an incredible view, this place is pretty to look at, even from the inside, from the greenhouse room bar at the entrance into the pretty little rooms - not to mention it's right in the heart of all the places you might want to be in Manchester, and there's literally a Tesco twenty paces from the front door.
This is my first stay out of America and I'm beyond impressed, it reminds me of A Stay Pineapple but it has much more luxury to it, just as affordable too, the price is justiciable threefold.
Also the informational guides available around the hotel help mitigate minor inconveniences, including giving little local cuisine and sightseeing tips.
Tl;Dr, it's great, I will be staying again as many times as I can.

Could have been 5 stars but faults in the rooms let it down. The actual hotel staff were excellent and it’s a pretty cool hotel with lovely ambience and clever an unusual room design. The kitchenette was incredible. So why did it lose two stars? Well, we had to move rooms when we came in from a night out as it stank of drains. This was after midnight when all we wanted was to go to bed, so didn’t actually get to bed until an hour later. The design of the replacement room wasn’t as good either, you couldn’t watch tv in bed as it was in the kitchen area (you could in the first room), also the remote didn’t work so actually, we couldn’t watch it at all. The staff gave us a complimentary breakfast as an apology and it was outstanding, couldn’t fault it at all. If you stay there, you must have breakfast there, fresh ingredients, attentive service and very tasty …from someone who rarely eats breakfast! I would try again, but my husband isn’t so keen sadly & with so many hotels to choose from, it’s unlikely.

Great apartment spacious, comfortable, and very well presented. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was excellent, with two different shower head options. Amenities were provided, although a few extra coffee sachets would have been appreciated.

The only downside was the lighting, which was quite dim with only one setting. It wasn’t ideal for tasks like applying makeup; however, I had seen this mentioned in other reviews and brought a travel light-up mirror, which helped. I appreciate this may be related to energy and sustainability considerations, but having an option to increase the lighting or adding a bright, illuminated bathroom mirror would be a welcome improvement.

Overall, the space, décor, and comfort were excellent, and I would happily stay again.

Location is excellent really close to car park, the Palace Theatre and restaurants and bars of the gay village. Staff on arrival were lovely, really pleasant and helpful. The room was great so much better than just a hotel room. Having a kitchen and sitting area even though we didnt use it much, was really nice. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. We havent been to Whitworth locke before but the whole set up from the coffee shop, restaurant and two bars is very good. Would highly recommend. We will be back.

I paid for a two night stay at Whitworth Locke and was really disappointed with the overall experience. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, there was dust throughout, and several of the kitchen utensils were dirty. The shower flooded every time it was used, and the room itself was cold, poorly lit, and extremely noisy due to thin walls and constant street noise.
On arrival, the TV didn’t work and required multiple maintenance visits before it was usable. The WiFi also didn’t work at all during our entire stay. Despite being there for two nights, housekeeping never came. No fresh towels, no replacement toilet paper, nothing.
For the price, the stay fell far short of the standard I expected. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.

This was my third time staying here, and I was disappointed. I stayed during Manc Pride. The room, whilst clean, wasn’t to the standard I’d previously experienced. One of the lights flashed when it was on, the Kitchenette didn’t have a dishwasher (for a room designed for four adults), the shower screen didn’t close properly, and the bathroom was extremely small. The staff were lovely with the exception a security guard one night who refused to believe that a same-sex couple could be sharing a room. He ask very abruptly “you’re in the same room?! I don’t believe you.” Staff had to intervene to sort the issue. The room issues were small and I wouldn’t let them put me off going back; however, for a queer-inclusive hotel, they need to sort the security out, especially at Pride!

Modern hotel in a great location

Beautiful, modern hotel with a very stylish bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The room was very well equipped and the bed was really comfortable. Location of the hotel was brilliant with a tesco over the road to grab snacks and lots of bars a restaurants in walking distance. Ncp carpark is just behind the hotel, and although it’s quite expensive to park there it’s worth it because it’s so convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay!

I stayed in a studio for 2 nights and had a great stay! The room and en-suite were clean and modern and had a lovely rainfall shower and great amenities. I would have loved if there was there was a microwave, but i survived without it! Was very handy being able to cook in the studio and there was a tesco express directly across the road. Staff were very friendly and helpful too! I will say it was an interesting choice to have cobblestones in the entry to the building and at reception, especially when most people would have rolling suitcases with them!

I dont think this would be the most accessible place to stay if you have any mobility issues or if youre a wheelchair user. (There were stairs to get to the lift and the cobblestones in the entry of the building would definitely hinder you)

Overall a great stay, and i'd definitely come again

The apartment was really nice and spacious, a bonus was the large electric fan in the lounge area. The major downfall of this apartment and the reason I would never stay here again is the lighting in the apartment, I have never stayed in a hotel with such dark and dingy lighting. was horrendous, any period of time spent in the room makes you feel like you are staying in a medieval castle. The hotel, room, staff, facilities are excellent but the poor lighting lets the hotel down.

Great spot on a great location of Manchester. Staff here were excellent always trying to help with recommendations. It is more like apartment style which is fun and different. They offer any amenities you need but won't bug you everyday for housekeeping. Had everything in the kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine which we didn't expect. Gym was another added luxury with new machines boxing equipment and other unique items for a cool different workout experience as well. Would definitely go back here next time we are in Manchester.
