I wanted to ask my girlfriend to marry me in the hotel, the hotel and staff were amazing, everything I wanted the occasion to be it was due to the hotel and staff, this is the second time for me and first for my now fiancé of many times we will be returning.

Room was 4 star as expected but the resident facilities were none existent. There wasn’t any lounge seating in the lobby, shocking! There was no where to gather, chill or any hotel refreshment facilities. There was one public bar which was hugely successful and therefore rammed! We didn’t even try to get a drink. No room service on offer! Not what you expect from a hotel, might have well stayed in a room only! Breakfast was nice. Hotel restaurant was fully booked with locals.

Only problem was when trying the WiFi, which i think was provided by a separate company, it would not accept my email address as a valid one. I've been using the same email address for 20 years, so couldn't get any further with it and so, no WiFi.

Room stunk of bleach when we arrived. We were going out so no issue. When we got back at 10 the room smelled like a sewer. Had to move. Moved us to a room with a smaller bed. Disappointed. Service at breakfast we had to gesture to be served every time.

Bath was leaking which resulted in a flood in the bathroom, made FOH aware & maintenance said there was no leak? Went back up & the same happened again after being told there was no leak

We had the room decorated & when housekeeping came in they binned the rose petals that were lay out.

Excellent staff, nice clean room.

Just one small point, as 1st time visitors to the hotel, it would have been helpful on arrival at breakfast if the staff taking your room number would check if you have had breakfast at the hotel before so could explain re self service and ordering of hot drinks etc.

Nice welcome but very noisy room on floor 1. Also outside road noise. Ordered balloons for arrival but originally quoted £15 and was charged £16.50 so must be a fee. Went down overnight. Had to find nearest parking due to very heavy traffic and doesn’t qualify for discounted price. Nice spacious room and a nice hotel.

Room was very spacious however looking worn in places (bath panel,missing button on armchair,stains on carpet,box at end of bed the metal broken) also missing little touches that would leave a lasting impression e.g decor in the room a bit bland and only milk and water in mini fridge which was disappointing. heating vents in the room very loud and can hear noise from other rooms. No hot water when we arrived which meant we couldn’t shower/get ready for our reservation although it was promptly fixed within an hour it was still an inconvenience and meant we were rushing. It’s a shame because the hotel has potential, lobby and bar tastefully decorated and play on the history of the building giving a luxury feeling, just didn’t seem to carry the theme into the rooms which would make this hotel stand out from others.

Staff on reception and in dining room, bar were so polite and helpful, what really stood out for me was the fact we had my sister in law (who is partially sighted) with us and as we walked around the hotel day and night the door staff could not of done more to open doors etc. incredible hotel that is clearly manages so well. We were given a room next to my sister in law and also upgraded to lighter rooms. Thank you so much all concerned

Clean room, friendly staff, delicious breakfast with many options. We also loved the Santa tray - this was our first time doing Christmas away and my kids were a little sad at not doing the traditional things, but that tray (and the chocolate treat left by Santa) was so cute and much appreciated. I also really appreciated the water we got at checkout - that was so kind (and also much appreciated!)

The appearance of the room had a wow factor as soon as we walked in but that soon changed when we realised how close to the railway track we were. We were 20 yards from the tracks and at the same height so the regular trains passing most of the night was terrible.
The room was never warm which I assume was due to the height of the single pane windows. Finally the front of the wc in the bathroom was so close to the facing wall it was a joke. Everything else in the hotel was perfect but I do not think room 162 is fit for purpose and should not be used. We would return if we were guaranteed a room at the other end of the hotel as it is so handy for the city centre.

The room and surroundings were beautiful. We had a few drinks in the bar staff were very pleasant, listened to some great funky music with the saxophone guy roaming the floor. A special mention to Tom on reception who we checked in with, he was so welcoming, friendly and he gave us a room with a great view of our city and I loved the free standing bath! Thank you Tom we would’ve liked to have thanked in person the next day! Siobhan👍 x

Lovely large rooms. Comfy bed. Snacks provided free. Great breakfast. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because the bar is a public bar and was heaving, seven or eight deep at the bar. We would prefer a hotel bar where we’re guaranteed be able to get a drink easily but it’s a beautiful hotel.

Beautiful hotel, tastefully presented. Check in seamless. Breakfast was fresh and good quality produce. Only issue was the feather pillows - uncomfortable and no alternative options for those with allergies.
Also we booked a family room for 3 of us - myself and 2 teenage daughters but the room was only made up for 2 - so 2 towels, 2 cups, 2 glasses etc. we checked in late at night so didn’t bother calling housekeeping - we just managed.

The hotel is lovely. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Our room was large and clean, and the bed was very
comfortable. The bee shaped chocolates on the bed was a nice touch.

The only downside was the noisy pub/bar opposite the hotel on Oxford Road, the music didn’t stop till 3am. Although this has nothing to do with the hotel, it is worth bearing in mind if you’re a light sleeper as the windows are not insulated enough to keep the noise out.

Beautiful hotel & a great stay

Lovely period style hotel, short walk into centre, in a very busy part of Manchester. The reception area is beautiful & smelled divine!

We arrived early to be told our room was ready which was very pleasing. The reception staff were warm & friendly but didn’t confirm we had breakfast included, so we didn’t know the times & whereabouts. Also, we weren’t offered any information about the amenities of the hotel, (bar times, believe there was a gym too but no info given), which would’ve been good to know.

The room was beautiful, spacious & clean, facing inwards onto a court yard so was very quiet which I appreciated. The bed was comfy with plenty of pillows which my husband appreciates. Lovely seating area & a huge full length mirror in the recess to the bathroom. The bathroom was spacious too & with plenty of complimentary toiletries.

We’d have liked to have stayed for a drink in the bar but it was extremely busy both times we looked with long queues at the bar.

Breakfast was a nice set up, lots of choice, however when we got there, we wanted to sit in the “garden room” but all the tables that weren’t occupied hadn’t been cleared. The buffet breakfast had lots of choice & was well set out, however the hot food wasn’t hot, so a little disappointing. We were in a bit of a rush & the staff were attentive without making them aware of our need to be quick.

Overall we enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay here again.

We met at this hotel for a family get reunion. The hotel had lots of areas we could go to and talk in quiet. We could walk to stores or any other restaurant if you chose too. Reunion was a success and would recommend this hotel to all.

Hotel is overall excellent, but the rooms (at least the one I stayed in) were a little pokey and underwhelming for this brand. I like and use Kimpton's a lot, but this was the first time I felt slightly disappointed. The rest of the hotel is otherwise fantastic, especially the bar.

Had an amazing stay at the Kimpton in Manchester. Really enjoyed the ‘Social drinks’ hour with complementary wine. Room was clean and spacious with a great hot shower! We love the Refuge bar that is linked with the hotel, which served a lovely breakfast in the morning.

The building is absolutely lovely. The rooms a really big. We were allowed to check in early. The hotel location is really central. Although close to the railway line. So could be a bit noisy.
The breakfast was nice and set in a lovely setting.
The hotel offered free drinks on a happy hour which was a lovely surprise
