Take a pass

If you’re European this property is quite a few levels down from what you believe you’re booking. As an independent hotel it is seriously lacking the level of service and quality that its price would entail.
The staff don’t help you with luggage even though you’re on top of a hill and really need to do a track.

The bedroom is passable, with the wash basin inside the room and not in the bathroom, the varanda of the hotel has 2 very hard chairs of wood with no pillows or furnishings. The bedroom itself was clean but the varanda dirty.

On the outside area the pool that was good to use was the heated pool, but it was relatively small. The big problem is that just beside the pool it was the bar of the reception area, and these people can’t clock that they have tons of dead insects in the surface dividing the 2, picture attached.

Staff are medium nice.

It’s near the nightlife of town.

I’m not returning, I’ve stayed in much better places at this price point. ~ around 280-300 USD for 2 nights

The property is decent if you’re on a budget or lack options. The bathrooms have a sewer smell, almost like things don’t completely flush. Most of our plugs didn’t work. The place is old and it shows. The staff are all great, it’s just the hotel.

A beautiful place but sadly with a very poor maintenance. Our room was full of bugs due to a broken bathroom window and a huge gap on the sliding doors. Towels were so worn out we could see through it, the sheets had holes on it, and shower and bidet had no hot water at all. Not recommended for old folks, the place is seated on a cliff with lots of steps to get to rooms. We left the next morning for a better place which was a big inconvenience since it took time away from our vacation.

This small hotel was at the top of a hill, with amazing views of the valley and ocean. The pool is beautiful and also overlooking the ocean. The staff were so welcoming and kind. The property is very tranquil and beautifully decorated incorporating the nature around it. Breakfast was a wonderful huge spread of fresh breads and cakes with attention to food allergies.

The beach is a short walk down the hill, with shops and restaurants. We went into town each day, which was a quick Uber ride.

We used the spa and can’t say enough about Anna! She is amazing!

Great location close to some beaches and not long walk or uber to the main street (shops, restaurants, etc.).

The Wifi is poor to non existent in the rooms, so I couldnt work (when I needed to) or watch any Smart TV, which was really irritating as I had work to do each day. I was able to do this in the main eating area, so it wasnt the end of the world but for the price, I expected these basics.

Staff were overall friendly, one was a little moody than others but ok.

the breakfast was AMAZING! so much choice and fresh goods (apart from the bread). Dinner was poor, go out to eat.

the rooms were cleaned every day (if you wanted) and the beds were super comfy. I did have a leak in my bathroom. but it wasnt a major problem.

Overall it was an ok place to stay, clean and quite with the bonus of a spa/massage place next door

Lack of management service!

I am a Gold member so requested an upgrade if available several days before checking in by message. When I checked in I asked if he upgraded me and he said he did. When I got to the room I saw it wasn't an upgrade because it was the Luxo room I reserved and the photos online do not represent what it actually looks like. When I went down to the pool I told them they didn't upgrade me so they showed me two rooms which they said were upgrades. My Luxo room I reserved was an Ocean view room and neither of the rooms they say were upgrades were Ocean view. They then showed me an Ocean view room which was an upgrade and I accepted and then they told me it would be an additional cost because it was a two level upgrade. The way they categorize rooms nobody would ever accept an upgrade unless they booked the standard room. If I knew it was that way I would have booked the standard room to get the Ocean view room and saved myself money because I knew they had all categories available. Lack of management service because they did not have much for occupancy. The Luxo room was old and drab. The locks where difficult to open and lock. The only plus was the view from the room and the pool.

Small hotel with a 30 bungalow type rooms with a spectacular view of the sea. Less than 10 mins walk to Joao Fernandes beach. Very safe area surrounded by exclusive homes and hotels. Breakfast and restaurant dining is OK. If you use the spa for massage opt for Cecilia. Pretty organized staff and R$6 Uber ride to Rua das Pedras

Amazing Views in Buzios

I'm really happy I went with this Pousada (small hotel) while in Buzios! The view and pool area are stunning! The staff was really nice and accommodating. Very convenient that there is a small spa onsite as well.
Here are some pros&cons/things to consider:
1. If you are reading this review in English and do not speak Portuguese, note that only some staff speak English. You can always get by if you try and communicate-and some staff speak Spanish if that helps.
2. The views are amazing and you can easily stay all day at the pool. Note that I find in hot countries the jacuzzis don't tend to be very hot-it's just a thing you have to be ready for :) There is an interesting wet sauna connected to one of the pools--but you have to ask them to turn it on--and then it is really hot!
3. The location I believe all in all is great--it is not far from the main st. rua das pedras, and the Joao Fernandes beach. It is a real easy walk down the hill, but not so fun up--so either be ready to catch an uber back up, or get ready for a glutes workout.
4. There are parts of the hotel that show a bit of wear and tear, including the pool area, but nothing that is a deal breaker. They upgraded me to a bigger room/better view without me asking. The room was big, bed comfortable, and water was hot!
All in all, a beautiful little retreat and a great value for the money in Buzios.

Perfection in paradise

The hotel is pretty spectacular: The setting is gorgeous, the rooms are huge and beautifully designed without being self-conscious, Breakfast is amazing, the amenities (pool, spa, etc.) have gorgeous views, as do the rooms. What stands out, though, is the exceptional service: everyone is incredibly attentive, responsive to any concerns, and genuinely personable. One shouldn’t single out favorites, but some people should be mentioned by name: Marcia, William, Eduardo, Silvio, Ana Carolina— and the entire team. I would stay here over and over again.

Two minor hiccups: the shower has a small shower head (the only thing that feels not up to the luxury of the place) and I was never able to get very hot water. The same is true for the Jacuzzi and the spa. But those are minor things that can be easily corrected.

Hotel not worth the price.

We checked in and the staff was wonderful. We were informed we would be charged a tourist tax per day when we checked out. They told us we were upgraded to a superior room free of charge. I actually booked a superior room but anyway. The room air conditioner was broken and the WiFi did not work at first. They fixed the ac and then we noticed at night the tv would stop working around 10pm. Two days later the ac totally froze up and was dripping cold water onto our bed. We called the front desk and 4 hours later they upgraded us to a suite. That was nice everything worked except the tv would stop working at night. Very frustrating. The breakfast was great and the staff was wonderful and English speaking. If they made sure the rooms were maintained and the TV and WiFi worked my review would be,different. It’s not a terrible hotel but from my experience not worth the price at all. I feel bad because the staff was wonderful.

The view from our premium room and indeed the bar / pool was amazing, plus it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest beach and only a 15 minute walk into the main town (which is lovely with lots of eateries). The minibar and bar costs were also reasonable - and the breakfast and daily bar food menu was great.

Unexpected extra charge

I bought a triple room- one king bed and one single bed- to invite my son and 8 years old grandson to stay at the hotel for a while if I wanted (they live in Buzios). When I arrived they pointed me that the cost of a triple room depended on the number of people occupying it and they argued that they had to charge + 33% given they had to put extra towels, etc. I said yes to have the possibility to receive my family but I felt extremely disappointed. They never added the extra towels. My conclusion: the should not offer a triple room and then charge per person. It is abuse. A triple room has 3 beds and should be offered for 3 people. I would not recommend the hotel given such unfair practices.

Nice hotel - but we expected more for the price

We booked the standard room (which was the most expensive room of our long trip) but it was very basic and had hardly any storage space (& we had quite a lot of luggage). We asked to be moved and were kindly upgraded, the room was larger but still quite basic & only had a rail for clothes & a couple of open shelves, no drawers for clothes.

The pool area was lovely, the spa treatment very good and the breakfast was nice too.

Gorgeous views...relaxing atmosphere. The hotel staff is super friendly. The spa is great. Nothing like waking up to the beautiful views of the hills and the beach below. Super relaxing. Fantastic Breakfast overlooking the pool with views of the beach. The hotel is surrounded by massive trees and beautiful tropical plants. It is a hike to get to the rooms and the main downtown of buzios is a 20 minute walk ( wear comfy shoes! The walk back is all uphill!) would stay again in a heartbeat!

The hotel looks exactly like the pictures. We got room 15, which is at the top location and probably had the best view. Fantastic!!! It is a bit of walk though so if you aren't able body, don't take this room. But the view is worth it! Clean and cozy. The breakfast was good. Some negative review about it but what do you want for free? My wife and I were totally content with it and excellent coffee. One day we lounged by the pool which is nice and clean, with white wine and enjoyed the sun and view. Close to beaches and not far from the core downtown with all the restaurants. All walking distance. If you are in Buzio this place is a must. Only negative is the Spa. Save your money, not worth it at all.

A truly excellent hotel

This is a really excellent hotel, particularly for the price. It is in a good location, only a 15 minute walk into town and a 10 minute walk to the beach (we didn't have a car and didn't need one with a good shuttle service run by the hotel at night and the easy walk during the day). The rooms are lovely, the view is spectacular and the hot tub overlooking the sea in the evenings is delicious - and breakfast is very good and with the beautiful view to look at. I would definitely come here again!

Small hotel with an amazing view

We chose La Pedrera for a romantic weekend and we were really happy with our choice. This was actually our second stay in this hotel. The staff was super nice and friendly. The view (both from the room and from the pool & restaurant) is simply breathtaking. The hotel overlooks Joao Fernandez beach, which is 3 blocks away downhill (it is a little workout climbing back...) and is not far away from downtown Buzios (a 10-15 walk). The breakfast was included and was really good. Overall, it was a great experience.

We booked a room in La Pedrera with my girlfriend to spend a weekend in Buzios. It is a small and comfortable hotel (I think around 15 rooms), located three blocks from Joao Fernandez, a very nice beach. We were very happy with the choice and we ended up returning the following weekend!

Para chegar tem 2 morros e para quem tem dificuldade em andar não é recomendável. Mas tem Uber na cidade.
Atendimento legal dos funcionários.
Café da manhã intimista, é necessário fazer pedido que é servido na mesa (demora um pouco) e o café exposto tem pouca variedade.

Me hospedei neste hotel e tive uma experiência excelente! A localização é realmente incrível: de frente para o mar, em uma área bastante tranquila e reservada, perfeita para descansar e relaxar. O hotel em si também é muito calmo, oferecendo um ambiente acolhedor e silencioso.

As piscinas são bem bonitas, super bem cuidadas, todo o hotel é muito limpo. O serviço de spa é ótimo, ideal para quem quer desacelerar e aproveitar ao máximo os dias de folga. Gostei muito do café da manhã, com variedade, qualidade e tudo sempre fresco.

O que fez a diferença mesmo foi o atendimento: todos os funcionários foram extremamente atenciosos e prestativos, sempre prontos para ajudar com simpatia.

Com certeza recomendo esse hotel para quem busca conforto, sossego, ótima localização e um atendimento excelente!

Pontos de melhoria: A piscina aquecida poderia ser limpa todos os dias, agua estava um pouco verde e com areia. O que chamou minha atenção ao reservar foi 1 serviço de spa grátis, mas foi fornecido apenas 15 minutos de massagem na cadeira apropriada para isso. Então não se engane. O hotel em si é bom, mas o quarto deixou a desejar. O banheiro era mal projetado em todos os sentidos: vaso sanitário mal posicionado, chuveiro alagava todo o banheiro, porta do box batia em suportes..

E além do mais, o piso do quarto não era adequado para ambiente interno, o que não dava a sensação de ambiente limpo (mesmo que fosse)..

Roupa de cama tbm poderia ser de melhor qualidade.

A estadia em si não foi ruim. O hotel é bem bonito, a vista do quarto era maravilhosa, o atendimento foi sensacional..
Mas esses detalhes do quarto fizeram com que o conforto ficasse prejudicado.

Café da manhã é muito bom, com opções de pratos pra serem feitos na hora.
Peguei um quarto com vista e foi muito agradável ver o dia nascer da varanda!
O hotel possui um serviço de SPA muito bom e com preços justos!
Único ponto de atenção é que o hotel possui algumas escadas, por ter sido construído em uma ladeira, para pessoas com dificuldades de locomoção ou idosos fica um pouco difícil, mas nada que seja demais também.
Valeu a pena a hospedagem!

Wer einen Urlaub umgeben von Baustellen und den damit verbundenen Lärm von früh morgens bis spät Nachmittags verbringen möchte ist hier gut aufgehoben.
Dreck und Sicherheitsmängel inklusive. Weiter entscheidet sich das Personal täglich um was die Regeln im Hotel betrifft (Rauchen)....
Ich bin 52 Jahre alt und das erste Mal, dass ich ein Hotel schlecht bewertet....nach x-Urlauben das schlechteste Hotel bisher.
Preis und Leistung stimmen einfach nicht.

Limpeza horrível. O hotel inteiro é imundo. O
Meu quarto estava imundo quando eu entrei. Não teve serviço de quarto e ele continuou imundo. Pedi para me mudarem de quarto e disseram que não havia como. Hotel sem manutenção. As áreas comuns estão completamente deterioradas. Me colocaram em um quarto que tinha que subir mais de 100 degraus. Tudo muito ruim. Não recomendo a ninguém.

Simplesmente maravilhoso!

O hotel é simplesmente maravilhoso. Atendimento impecável desde a chegada. Área de lazer fantástica, com uma vista inesquecível. Café da manhã delicioso. Quartos limpos e com vista linda. Vou todos os anos para Búzios e com certeza essa foi a melhor experiência que já tive. Ganhamos até um serviço de spa de cortesia. Super recomendo a hospedagem!

An amazing week

We spend an amazing week in this hotel!
The room was espectacular, the view very nice.
The service from the boys was very good and friendly.
Especially Junior was great!
Good breakfast with fresh made customised omelets.
The food in the restaurant and at the pool was great, too.
Very recommendable place.

Just their stock of wine and Prosecco run low quite quickly. 😉

O hotel tem um visual excelente, atendimento do staff é maravilhoso e o café da manhã sensacional.
Como ponto de melhoria, o cheiro do banheiro que não é agradável e o barulho das condensadoras do ar condicionado, que ficam nas varandas de cada apartamento e causam desconforto na hr de dormir. Deixamos o aparelho desligado para evitar o incômodo, porém o clima colaborou e o ar não foi necessário. No verão acredito q isso será desfavorável.
Outro ponto é a localização. Para ir e voltar à praia e o Centro é uma caminhada tranquila, mas no retorno ao hotel a ladeira será um desafio para quem não está acostumado.

Tivemos uma hospedagem muito satisfatória em La Pedrera, pois fomos muito bem atendidos por todos os funcionários em todas as ocasiões. Desfrutamos de massagens no spa, almoçamos e jantamos no hotel. O apartamento 2 tinha vazamento com mofo embaixo da pia, ao lado da cabeceira da cama tinha problema de manutenção . Na área de lazer, falta de manutenção nas madeiras, colchões do gazebo encardido, falta manutenção .
