Hotel Il Cuore Namba had a great location — super close to Namba Station and easy to get around — and the staff were very nice. However, overall it was one of our least favourite stays. The room and especially the bathroom were very small, which made it feel a bit cramped and uncomfortable. If you’re just looking for somewhere basic and convenient to sleep, it does the job.

Right in the thick of the shopping and dining district of Osaka, everything was within walking distance, and we spent so much time exploring Dotonbori. The room was typically small, but functional, and the staff were amazing, as in general mostly everyone is in Japan. I would recommend this hotel and book again in a heartbeat.

If you stay for consecutive nights, the room will be cleaned once for every 3 nights, but I didn't know that I had to put a magnet on the door on the day I wanted the room cleaned, so I couldn't get it cleaned.
The magnet sign is hard to understand, and they should announce it when you check in.

Alright, here’s the deal. Prior to booking this hotel, I read the reviews like a hawk. I felt pretty confident going in what to expect with this hotel. Here’s my take:

Location wise, it’s a fantastic hotel. You are literally 4 minute or 100 yards away from Osaka-Namba station which is one of the major hubs for subway and other public transportation. You are so close to other night markets and good restaurants near by. For these reasons alone, this hotel tops just about any place. My wife and I visited Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, and felt that this hotel location was THE place to be where you are so close to transportation hub and shopping/restaurants.

Staff members: good and friendly. They appear to speak fluent English. I didn’t have much an interaction with them so I won’t say much.

Facility: this is where this hotel loses its ratings. As for the room, we got a double standard room. I’ll start by saying that it’s “cute”. My wife and I stayed comfortably without any problems. However, as any place in Japan, space is limited. If you have more than two large luggage, the space will be pretty tight. But then again, you can get a bigger room or another 30-40 (dollars - CDN for us). Bathroom is clean with all the standard amenities. Bed/mattress is pretty firm, just FYI. Heating/AC is very responsive; a bit too responsive since the room is so small. I had a tough time trying to find the right temperature lol.

Great budget hotel to see Osaka region! Good luck ;)

The hotel is very close to Namba station so handy if you have luggage and are travelling to KIX or just visiting Osaka. The room was spacious for a single, clean and fine for my overnight stay. I had problems finding the hotel since there were no obvious signs in English and the hotel is set back slightly from the road. I'm glad I printed off a map! Staff were friendly and I would stay here again.

9 nights in Osaka

Decided to stay in this hotel as it is very near to Namba train station, Takashimaya and Shinsaibashi. Walking distance to all amenities. 24 hours food stores available, family mart just next to it.
Located on a quiet street and got the room facing city. Window can be open to make the room airy. Though room is rather small but sufficient for 2 persons. Glad it comes with bathub and they provide herbs bath powder. Daily housekeeping and change of towel. Toiletries are always replenished.
The check in and check out is easy. Not much problem with the staffs. They are friendly and I'm given the impression I'm welcome.
Will stay there again when I travel to Osaka.

The hotel is located at a very convenient location in Namba, near to Namba subway and even nearer to Nankai line to the Kansai Airport.
Convenient store and drug store is just round the corner. There are many eating places around, and even drinking holes.
There are many shopping places around this area - Takashimaya, Daiso, Loft, IOIO and even a kitchenware street.
Coffee machine is available daily at the hotel lobby. A good place to rest and have coffee after a day's tour. Highly recommended.

Good hotel to stay

3 minutes walk from Namba station to this hotel. My single room was quite big compared with other business class hotels in Japan. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet enough. The only issue for me was air conditioning. It made my room very warm and I tried to lower temperature setting but useless. Even though, its price was reasonable so I will stay here once I visit Osaka again.

Hotel is one block from Namba station, very convenient but a bit diffucult to find because it's located amongst many buildings and alleyways. Also, one block from Dotonbori and Kuromon Market. Bathroom was very small, no counter space, air conditioner didn't work and window didn't open, beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Free wifi was good.

Lovely gem of a hotel, right next to Namba station

This was a great find and a wonderful affordable hotel in the heart of Namba. The room had everything I need, i.e. a good clean comfortable bed, table (when I had to do some work or wanted to read), television (channel selection not great as most were in Japanese, but why will you be watching tv when you are in Osaka?), and a bathroom that provides shampoo, conditioner, body and face wash.

The only thing I will say is I think the room is rather small, but I think most hotel rooms are like that unless you are willing to pay very high fees.

Other than that, I thought this hotel was perfect. It is only a few minutes walk from Namba station, and the building is relatively tall with its name on top for it to be easy to spot. Namba is a key shopping and eating district, and convenient to travel to everywhere else in Osaka. The staff were also wonderfully helpful and friendly. There is a family mart just outside if you need anything urgently late at night.

From the airport, take the Nankai express. Take the exit towards the Swissotel (note, Namba has like a thousand exits, and the railway is interchanged with the subway so it can be confusing), and then walk out. You should see a convenience store across the street from you. Cross the street and keep walking, you will see Family Mart and then there will be a small pathway that you take to your left to the hotel. Do still check the map though in case you take a different exit.

If you are taking subway, its exit 5.

This hotel is definitely dated, but it is close to everything. The room is very small, which is to be expected in Japan, but it was clean. We had a nice view of the city too. I would absolutely say stay at this hotel for location alone. Namba station was a minute walk and Dōtonbori was just as close, you can’t beat that!

Conveniently located hotel.

Il Cuore Namba is located a two or three minute walk from the Namba Subway/Railway station and just off the main area. The hotel is within walking distance to the main tourist areas of Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi and Ebisubashi. It is in a quiet area.

The hotel itself is fairly new with the rooms a bit larger than average of those in Japan. The bathroom was small and had a must or moldy odor. Only two hand towels and two bath towels are provided in a Queen size room. Two bottles of water are provided each day although the water from the taps are potable.

The front desk staff did not seem to speak English well but we were able to get by. There are free safety deposit boxes just in front of the check-in area. Free coffee is available in the sitting area of the lobby.

We received coupons for the buffet breakfast which consisted of a good variety of Japanese and Western dishes. The selections for each of the days we stayed were slightly different.

I would stay at the IL Cuore Namba again if in Osaka.

It's my second time stay in here, I feel great about everything. You will see a spotless clean room once you get backdrop a tired walk trip. And it's very close to the subway, only take you three mins to reach the NanBa station from walk, and about five mins to reach the shopping market which I call paradise..... I think I don't need to say much, you will love when you stay in here.

It was good a location. literally 5 mins walk from namba station. The hotel was clean but cozy. The rooms were too tiny. We didn't even have place to keep a suitcase leave alone two. The bed was a queen as per their advertisement but it was no where close to a queen compared to international standards. Yes it is perfect if you are traveling alone and no large bags. The breakfast wasn't the best spread but was satisfying with few choices which were made to a good standard. Verdict If you are in namba for an overnight and you are either a single traveler or a couple tiny built its a good choice for the price.

No complimentary bottled water?

Found two bottles of water inside refrigerator, which are branded and charged at 100 Yen at the vendor machine in the lobby. No notice nor any indication that they are complimentary but there is nothing else supplied by the hotel. The water boiled by the electric kettle is smelly. Luckily the bottled water at convenient shop is not expensive.

Location, Location, Location

Location, location, location. The hotel is located within a 5-minute walk from Nanba station (subway lines and Nankai serve the station). It's not too far from THE tourist spot in Osaka -- Shinsaibashi/Dotonbori -- either, but it is on the less crowded side of town, which means the noise from the hustle-bustle does not reach its rooms.
It's a boutique hotel, so the interior is minimalist but pleasant to the eye. It's located in an urban area, however, so one should not expect big rooms.
Breakfast was decent, and service was acceptable overall, but somehow the front desk staff did not come across as super-friendly (this could be because we'd stayed at a hotel in a rural area before we arrived at Il Cuore and had received EXCELLENT service).
If we must go back to Osaka again, we will definitely consider staying at Il Cuore.

The first impression: The room is small. But to be fair, and putting things in perspective (location, price etc), if you are simply looking for a functional, decent and accessible hotel (it is very near to Namba Station and Swisshotel), this place will definitely meet your requirement. It has all the things you need and some pleasant surprises - clean toilet with washlet, shower with powerful water flow, herbal powder for relaxing bath (in the tub), good complete set of toiletries, electric kettle with tea bags, mineral water (more expensive hotel in Kyoto only gave me on the first day, this hotel provides DAILY), shoe polish cloth, strong air-con, nice TV (again the better hotel in Kyoto has a lousier TV, not as sharp), alarm clock etc....

If I have to pick on things I didn't like: (1) There is indeed an odour in the room (as I read in other reviews before booking), It is not repulsive, it is just an odour you will detect. This can be resolved by spraying an air freshener available in the room. (2) NO security box in the room (small ones available at the lobby, like pigeon holes and everyone passing by can see what you put in and take out). (3) Check-out time: 11am! If you request for late check-out, even an hour is chargeable.
