Better than expected! It’s a 5 star hostel or a 4 star hotel. We had one of the private rooms which was very spacious but smelled funny with the restroom right across the hall. The front desk staff wasn’t the friendliest either.

I felt a bit outcasted to go to the Shower/Onsen as it was also open to members. I understand fully and so wasn’t completely disappointed but the feeling persisted. I decided to just enjoy the shower near my capsule room, which was always in high standards and easy to use. Amenities were great and frequent cleaning from staff ensured a good experience.
I felt the check in was a bit cold, unlike my other stays, I felt the attendants were a bit short with me. Checking in was okay but the long stare upon checking out felt like almost to say “leave now.” Rather than “thank you for your stay.” That isn’t a problem, however, it is peak tourist season and naturally that will tire any employee, they may have been having a tough morning.

Ideal location right in the heart of Dontonburi. You can get to the location from the Jamba train station without getting out of the station. Lots of shopping, food and night life options. Has a Sauna and a public bath for men which was awesome. Clean and neat even though the general social area is small and only meant for eating.

They allow hotel guests to store their luggage at their premises before and after check-in. So my hands are free. I took a quick shower and changed into my clean clothes before checking in. But, I have to pay for towels. June is fairly hot and rainy. It's really not comfortable to continue walking around with a sweaty body. Those who plan to come to Japan during the summer, I recommend them to bring a rechargeable portable fan around the neck.

I’m so thankful to have picked this place to stay. The facilities are so comfortable and the staffs are so friendly! It is located in Namba (Midosuji line) and it’s practically close to Dotonbori. Good location. Room was big and clean, but beds and bedding were uncomfortable. Bath facilities were clean. Best part was the staff was able to hold our bags for a day before we checked in, and they held our bags after we checked out so we could shop around before leaving for the airport. They even kept our food refrigerated until we left.

To enter the property, you must take an elevator to the third floor to check in, then the floor above are the rooms.
Security to the rooms are very secure, shoe lockers & under-bed storage is provided, and the space in the room is VERY adequate.
It says you should check your valuables in the safe, rather than under the bed, but when I wanted my camera to be put there, the staff member at the time didn't understand the request in English, and upon collecting it, I spotted it was kept on a shelf in the backroom, and not a safe.
(It is worth noting, it was kept on a towel, presumably to mitigate any damage when placing it down)
The downside however was during my stay, the heat was unbearable. There was no fan, either blowing or extraction, and it was a constant heat all night.
Aside from the heat, First Cabin Midousuji offers a fantastic capsule experience across Japan, and First Cabin Midousuji is no exception.
I will absolutely be staying again, simply due to First Cabin remaining a fantastic and reliable choice.

The staff understood no english and just said everything asked was “impossible.” I have stayed many times at First Cabin properties, in Umeda, Osaka, and Kyoto, all were excellent. Namba staff said using the luggage delivery service such as yamato to forward bags to hotels was not possible. As a result i had to haul everything through giant stations and figure out how to get it on a train for Tokyo. Baggage fw’ing is simply a fact of modern hotel services. This facility is probably good for locals not tourists. The striving to be traditional was ok but the rules were oppressive such as needing to touch the keypad for every door along the way. Even locals always ignored some of the shoes rules and nobody checked their key in when they went out. I will never use this facility again.

Toothbrush is too small and very very hard, i had gums bleeding. Suggest to provide one proper toothbrush for each customer, instead of replacing these cheap ones everyday, it would be more environmental friendly.

Great to experience this in Japan. Surprisingly very respectful and quiet considering the rooms are not locked and have what are basically paper doors. Everything you could possibly need is there and more. The shared bathrooms and showers etc are wonderfully clean. The on-site onsen is also a wonderful benefit, especially as a tourist I was one of the only people around during the day. Businessmen, their usual customer, don’t tend to be there until late evening. If you go in with the mindset of first class air travel this explains it down to a tea

Be under no illusions though, this is effectively a dorm room for 100 people. This is just somewhere to lay your head, nothing else. Noise is not aloud in your cabin, so relaxing in your room is suprisingly hard.

Unfortunately this review will not reflect positively on the hotel.
Although it said the hotel was non-smoking, there was a strong stench of stale smoke throughout the whole hotel, this may be in part to the pachinko lounge (gambling) on the lower floors. I was very disappointed as the smell of smoke is very off-putting and I struggled to breathe properly or sleep in the hotel due to the smell.
The staff were ok, generally helpful and willing to fix the problems.
The amenities were VERY OLD and dated, and also did not look like it had been thoroughly cleaned in a while; this may be due to the smoke that had been accumulated over the years.
I opted for the breakfast option; but was unfortunately disappointed with the food offered. While they do offer an 'airport experience' the food is not one I want to experience.
This brings me to my final point; while it is right beside Dotonbori (main food/shopping attraction of Osaka) the price nowhere near suits the condition and quality of the amenities offered. I paid $160NZD for a 'First-Class cabin' (Unit 642) which did not have working air conditioning inside, feel free to check the unit yourself. On average in Osaka, I was paying $50NZD at a hostel that provided a better atmosphere and amenities, while still in reasonable distance to Dotonbori.
I thoroughly recommend that First Cabin Midosuji-Namba renovate the hotel completely to get rid of the smells & fix their services for me to recommend to stay in them.

Good location, comfortable and spacious for a cabin. Good facilities, nice and clean and great price. Has a spa, as well as a restaurant/lounge, but the restaurant has limited hours starting from 9pm until later. Food was good, prices were good. Staff was friendly professional and helpful. I would definitely use this place again.

I really enjoyed the stay at this capsule hotel. I do wish I stayed another night or two as it was quiet and convenient to central Tokyo. I do wish they had extra room for luggage or else put on top of the lockers / leave at front reception.

I loved First Cabin. Even though you can’t lock your cabin it still felt safe. It’s in a convenient location. 2 minutes walk to Namba Station. Great breakfast spread too. It’s quiet except the first night I couldn’t sleep because the man in the next cabin snored soooooo badly I didn’t sleep a wink. That was the only downfall of this place. But, I would definitely return.

Love this place. I'm not sure if i originally got hte business class rooms, but they gave me it. I stayed two nights here. Everything was on the same floor. It is like a block away from Dotonbori. The only thing i didn't like about it is, it smell like smoke, maybe the other folks were smoking in their cabin rooms. Overall if i'm ever in osaka again, i would go back. It is also close to Namba station.

A very neat concept: capsule hotel for business
This particular one only has the \"first class\" rooms (it's actually encomny class but good enough). According to their website, there are 4 classes in total at some of their other locations.
Bathrooms are shared but it's clean and well kept so it's perfectly acceptable. Also, staff are friendly. Men and women have separate sections but there is a common resting area/cafeteria.
I will definitely try out other locations.

We left after one night because the smell of smoke was too strong. They don't enforce the no smoking policy in the sleeping area. It's also difficult to sleep because the cabins don't close all the way or lock and you can hear people shuffling around outside of your room all night. The beds were also very hard.

A step above a capsule hotel since you have a single cubicle with head room. Super convenient access from subway Exit 13. Incredibly convenient to Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi. Great spa area. Make sure that if you've ordered the breakfast and massage package, you ask the front desk for the vouchers. Massages are only give late a night and I missed out on the massage on the first night because I didn't get the 20-min. massage voucher. Make the reservation at the front desk. Both breakfast and massage are worth the extra -- the buffet alone was Y800 and a 10 minute massage is Y980. Although not as elaborate as the APA Hotel breakfast buffets, this Japanese and Western buffet has more food than you'll ever eat at one sitting. NOW FOR THE CAVEATS -- this is NOT a hotel, so by Japanese regulations, these are not hotel rooms. Therefore there are no locks when you close the privacy screens. You can store things in the locked drawer under the bed. The front desk will gladly store your suitcases or oversize bags, so just take out what you need. The bathrooms/showers are shared, but are spotless. An absolute quiet policy exists in the cabin area, so you have to talk with others or on the cell phone in the cafe or other designated areas. There are flat screen TVs in every cabin, but you have to plug in earphones into the wall jack to hear it. They are serious. Men's and women's cabins are separated and access is through separate security entrances with their own key cards.

Cosy and convenient lodging
We spent 2 nights in this larger-than-usual capsule hotel conveniently located just next to Namba Station. The facilities are clean and comfortable, with enough space in the room to keep our luggage with us. The room cannot be locked, but there is drawer with a lock where one can lock up any valuables. Unlike many capsule hotels, guests do not have to check out and re-check-in daily, which is a plus if staying multiple days. The hotel is also close to the popular food and shopping areas like Kuromon Market, Dotombori, Shinsaibashi.

I have stayed at First Cabin, in Kyoto and Tokyo. When I found one in Osaka, I was very happy.
It is a short metro ride from Osaka station, and above a metro exit. Close to Dotonburi, and all the other shopping areas. I will definitely be staying here again.
