My husband and I stayed for 3 days while visiting Venice and the staff were very kind and accommodating and went above and beyond to help us navigate the tram system. The room was very clean had a big window that opened for fresh air and beds were on the firmer side which we enjoy. The only thing I’d recommend is maybe adding more pillows to the bed.

Overall, everything was good and everywhere was clean, especially for me since I’m traveling with kids. The room atmosphere was very nice and the children felt comfortable. The whole hotel had a fresh and clean smell.

I wasn't very happy as I booked the most expensive room of the hotel, and at arrival i found it unprepared: electricity was off and had to call the reception to fix it, the phone didnt work and I had to go back all the way down to front desk, there were 2 towels randomly in the ceiling, the sofa bed was open with 2 beds despite the booking was for only 2 people and the service was unavailable (as we arrived late) to put it back in place, and finally our double bed was actually made of 2 separate materrasses hence there was a space in between that made the bed uncomfortable. We looked for water and the plastic bottle water in the minibar was used and a left over from the prior guests. The heating control worked but the heating was very weak and we were cold during the night.
The hotel staff was very nice and responsive/helpful to these incidents, but those made the arrival and the stay disappointing and not congruent to the description, the 4 stars and the type of room that was sold.

The room was huge with great air conditioning (2 in the room because it was large), skylight in the bathroom and as an added bonus there was an elliptical machine in the corner! Hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. Location was good - quiet, safe, close to airport (taxi €30) and close to tram into Venice (you can buy tickets/passes from front desk). We loved the Smart Hotel in Venice! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Great choice of hotel at Mestre

We had a very good stay. The room is very comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel is very convenient, we got the tram to reach Venice and the ticket can be bought at the hotel. Andrea and the rest of the staff were very kind and helpful with all our requests. Highly recommend this hotel.

Got my money worth!

Lots of bang for the buck. Was not expecting such a nice place for the price I paid. Upto date! 10 minutes to the airport. 30 minutes by bus to Venice island. Only 1 negative is I wish the room had more lighting for nighttime.

A nice modern hotel, close to the tram and a couple of very good local restaurants. Venice is about 25 minutes by tram. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was a god mix of uffet options and the bar area was comfortable and welcoming. A good spot if you are content to use the sometimes busy tram to commute with the locals into Venice.

The hotel beyond the front desk is run down and dirty , black mark's on carpet stains everywhere , mold in washroom , small shower , no air conditioning , cracks in walls etc etc would never stay here again the only thing good was breakfast . Pics on site were deceiving.

The room is OK very small… The AC is amazing, a few of the staff were amazingly nice… I forgot to take down their names but it was a young lady and a young man. Other than that the rest of the staff is where OK, they didn’t seem like they really wanted to help out when we had questions… The hotel doesn’t have a lock behind the door after the doors locked- So we put our luggage behind the door for safety just in case someone came in… A few times people open the door without our permission .

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the AC was really good, and the location… Other than that I have nothing else to say about this hotel, the breakfast is trash and not well prepared. Handy base for exploring Venice

Great breakfast with lots of variety. The tram stop is at the end of the road and the trams run frequently into Venice. If you buy your tram ticket at reception, check that you have been given the correct ticket. There was a 'mix up' when I purchased mine. This was later sorted and my money was refunded.

Hotel which lived up to the 4 star rating. Easy shuttle minibus offered by the hotel into Venice city for €5 per person. Just needed to call the hotel to be picked up again. Comfortable beds and nice staff. Housekeeping could have been a little better, and shower a bit small. Despite that shower worked well and the hotel gave us extra pillows when requested.

We stayed for one night as it was close to the airport for our early flight the next morning. We were able to get a cheap tram (3 Euro's each) into Venice for the evening. Room was spacious and clean. Hotel bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would stay again.

Pictures of Hotel are from a long time ago

We saw the pictures on the web and we were expecting a hotel in much better shape. The room was very small, the carpet was extremely dirty with stains. the bathroom was leaking and it smelled like sewer we had keep the door closed so we would not be able to smell it in the room. The shower head was broken and we had to hold it to take a shower. there is no counter top to put your toiletries. There was no iron or ironing room because according to the staff it is a very dangerous item. they provide ironing service at a price per item...
the room is extremely basic, no hot water for tea or coffee only one pillow per person. furniture is very old.
in addition to the hotel room price at check-in you will be asked to pay a certain amount per person per day for city tax.
Breakfast is not included but can be bought per person per day, the staff is not the most friendly or helpful, drinks in the refrigerators in the breakfast area are not included in the price, but there is no sign indicating that. if you get a drink the staff will just add it to your bill without letting you know.

The bed was very comfy. However, that was it...The walls are dirty all around the hotel and the carpet is worn out. The hotel is just at the outskirts of Mestre with not many things around to see. We went out at 8pm for dinner and had to return back at the hotel's restaurant as there was nothing around. Not even mestre centro was brilliant which is about 15 mins by tram.

We paid almost €20 for city tax for 3 nights which I thought it was a bit expensive for the area where we stayed and also could not pay by card only cash which was a bit frustrating....

Also, to get from Treviso airport to the hotel is either pricy (if you chose the quickest way by shuttle bus and tram / bus €14 pp ) or very long if you travel on the cheap ( bus to trevisio centrale, train to mestre and another bus to the hotel €5-6pp).

On the good side though, it is very easy to travel to Venice. T1 tram stop is 3 mins walk from the hotel and it takes about 35 mins to get to Venice. The cost of one journey is €1.50 pp which is not bad.

First, staff was great - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

But, the bed was terrible - flat as a board, stiff as a rock and scented. Then the bathroom was shockingly confusing - the shower head was not on the wall but rather on the inside of the tub connected to a hose. The room did not have a heating system and it was freezing at night. And the worst, the hotel's wifi was nonexistent - never worked and caused us to have major issues purchasing flights out of the city. The price seemed reasonable before checking-in. Then once we experienced the location we immediately realized that it was tremendously overpriced.

On our first night we were given a room which was in fact an emergency door exit and should never be blocked by adding a room in front of it.

Good hotel with easy tram link into Venice.

Very pleased with hotel. It is in a residential area with very little around it. This did not bother us as we were only interested in spending time in Venice which is a magical place. I would recommend trying to use Marco Polo airport rather than Treviso as the transfers were long and expensive.

There was a gentleman with spectacles who was a particularly rude Italian pleb with no people skills what so ever and this was nothing to do with the language barrier. Brekky was very cheap with a reasonable selection. Good location for getting into Venice . The pillows on both beds had a strong curry smell. Now I do love a curry but prefer a fresh linen smell on my pillow/s. They should also provide binoculars for viewing the Tv . I stayed in building 2 and it was very dated ...

Would not recommend to stay here.

Bad service. We ONLY booked because our flight was arriving at 11:30 pm and this hotel offered shuttle bus service. We were told shuttle could not come, no reason given. So we had to pay taxi 30 euro. Then they had one outlet in room for adapter and that was not working. Then we were told shuttle can drop us at bus stop as courtesy. They told us in the morning that it will cost 10 Euro. When we got to station, driver asked for 6 euro more as service charge. The hotel didnt mention that cost. So overall, we paid double for one night and with bad service. Horrible and I would not suggest to anyone.

The staff at the check in was very kind and receptive.
The room was good, but the internet didn't work at all, it was connected, but it wouldn't acces any website. Calling to ask for help with the issue the person at the desk didn't help at all.
The shower also wouldn't hold a constant temperature. It was oscillating from hot and cold.
Easy to get to Venice by car or by public transport.

Standard hotel, however very far from actual Venice. Good thing is that it has a tram stop about a 2 minute walk away from the hotel, which takes you directly to venezia in about 30-35 minutes. Standard breakfast, friendly staff. Wifi is free but very bad connection it rarely even worked. And be aware there are 2 building for this hotel, we got sent to the one opposite the main building, has no reception and hardly any security. Wouldn't recommend to stay here if you are looking to be closer to the Venice attractions. However, overall a good stay.

It's completely a two star hotel.

The actual room is completely different from the photos. The room is small, around 12m square, half of the lights were not working, the air conditioning was so noisy, it made me very hard to get in sleep. The staff said there is no kettle provided in this hotel. No store around, can only drink tap water.

But what made me so angry was, I booked a room with free breakfast, I have a proof from hotels.com, confirmation email, but the staff insisted my room has no breakfast and said the free breakfast quoted in my confirmation letter is one of the facilities only but not included, and said I have to pay for the breakfast. I don't know why even I have the proof of confirmation with free breakfast but still being rejected.

The only good thing was it's easy to get to Venice, just 5 mins walk to the tram station.

Although the price of this hotel is cheap compare to the others, but I can say what you get is only a two star hotel. It's definitely worth to pay a bit more to stay in other 3-4 stars hotel.

Very nice hotel. We stayed two nites. They have a pre fixed different menu just about every nite. Four course meals for about 20 euros each. Great hot breakfast, scrambled eggs, hot and cold meats. Three different juices, 2 different milks, yogurts and cheese, toast.

Don't be fooled by the four stars.

We needed a single overnight stay to catch an early flight out of Venice airport, and picked this hotel for the proximity. It's technically in Mestre, but pretty far from the Mestre city center. About a 30 minute walk to get to anywhere worth being, but there's a tram connection fairly close by. If you're visiting Venice and are looking to spend your time in the city proper then this is not the hotel for you, and you're much better off paying a bit extra and staying in the city itself.

The front staff was reasonably friendly and accommodating of our late check-in and early check-out, but the rest of the experience was awful. The hallways are dimly lit in a seedy bar kind of way that tries to hide how gross the hotel is. Our room had been soaked in what smelt like four or five bottles of Febreeze, making the air completely unbreathable. We had to leave the hotel for a few hours with the windows open, and it was barely tolerable even after that.

The carpets were grimy and worn, the toilet had hair and other unidentifiable things floating around in it, the sink was typically Italian in that it lacked hot water pressure, and the shower was a tub with a shower head and no curtain.

We had a double bed that was actually two single mattresses of the cheapest kind pushed together, with linen that had been mended but was still torn in places and stained.

Not a great experience. You're getting what you pay for here, which isn't much at all.

Good stay with parking and shuttle bus

We were on a car road trip and needed an overnight hotel. While this hotel was on the outskirts of the city it does overcome this to some extent by providing a shuttle bus that takes you into the city of Venice for a small charge per person. The upside of the location keeps the room cost down and there is ample unsecured free parking. The room was surprisingly large, very modern, clean and comfortable. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were very receptive. We would have no problem staying there again.

The hotel was very clean and it didn't smell like cigarettes! Personnel was nice and very helpful. We had to take the bus to go to Venice and they sold us the tickets snd provided us with instructions and a map to help us get to the bus stop. Only complaint was the internet! It didn't work at all! We were there two nights and couldn't make it work anywhere in the hotel. We complained to the people on the counter and they said that they were aware of the problem and that somebody was working on it. They didn't fix it before we left. Breakfast was very good, italians don't seem to eat fruits in the morning and at this hotel they provided some. Overall we were happy with the hotel!

Great family room. Good for a airport hotel

This hotel is close to Marco Polo Airport. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. The shuttle service must be prearranged due too availability. If not, you could get stuck without transportation. A cab ride costs us €30.00 and we had just carry on baggage, no large bags that would have cost extra. The hotel is in a neighborhood that does not have much of a choice of restaurants or bars within walking distance. However, the hotels does have a restaurant. The rooms are fantastic!! We had the family room. The room has 2 showers, 2 sinks, a tub, refrigerater, desk and table with chairs. Great for a family or group of friends.

our stay in Venice

Two overnight stays, one before our cruise one after. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The food was good and the room comfortable and very clean. Venice is easily accessible and the hotel provide minibus to a drop off point for a few euros. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not happy with Expedia

I received a message saying all flights into Italy were cancelled so after nearly 2 hours on the phone to Expedia I managed to cancel everything and was told I would have a full refund and receive a phone call within 24 hours, after 3 days I am still wIting, so when you're ready, never booking with Expedia again.

Ps I expect compensation, I had family waiting for our arrival as it was a surprise wedding anniversary present

Perfect for short stay

We stayed just for 1 night on the way to Genova. The hotel is nice and modern, very close to the motorway. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was surprisingly rich for Italian standards. I would recommend this place anytime.

Visiting Venice for the first time.

Very pleased with the hotel it's location was fine too. Public transport nearby and very cheap. The staff were all very helpful. Food was good too.

Pleasant place to settle in after a long flight.

Actually a very pleasant experience. This is a place to stay, not an experience in itself. We did have to pay for the shuttle from the airport, 7 euro/person.A little pricey for a 5 minute ride. It would be nice if it were included.
The front desk was very friendly, and helpful. The breakfast, included in our rate,was reasonably good as well, with a good selection of fruit, eggs,and yogurt.

Hotel nice, neighborhood, not so much.

This hotel was clean and nice. The neighborhood isn't very convenient. Would have preferred a hotel next to a few restaurants. Luckily, the hotel had a nice restaurant. The staff was very nice and the shuttle service from the airport and to the port was great. If it weren't for the neighborhood, I would stay here again.

We struggled to find a good hotel option in Venice in our price range. This seemed to be our best option and after staying there we can understand the variables we found in the reviews. It is close to the road that takes you to the parking in front of the Grand Canal. It was relatively quiet until the neighbor's dog started barking outside our window. The staff were friendly but not overly attentive to details. The first night we called the front desk because our AC wasn't working. They said they would come right up but never came at all. The next morning I reported the issue again, this time in person, and his response was that someone had come and turned it on. They did manage to get it turned on sometime that day because we had AC that night. The beds are very hard so be aware of that. On a positive note, breakfast was pretty good and the rooms were very clean.

Smart Hotel Holiday 10/10/14 - 13/10/14

Be aware its a long way out of Venice.
Those who are wary of travelling on public transport - book somewhere a lot nearer. It takes a tram, a bus and then the vaparreti to get into Central Venice. It is an easy journey when you get the hang of it and the public transport in Italy is punctual. Get a prepaid card from reception.
Also taxis from and to airport are quite expensive.
If you dont want to eat dinner at the hotel, then this is not for you, we went at the end of the season and there is nowhere else around to eat.

Good Airport Hotel

The shower was awesome! The restaurant was not very good, but it was convenient. There is not much to do around the hotel, but it is a good place to stay before/after a flight. We would stay here again.

First time in Venice

It was my first time in Venice, Italy. The receptionist, Andrea, at the hotel was unaccomodating and unprofessional. He clueless when it came to providing information regarding tours, transportation, and restaurants. He simply claimed, \"there was nothing to do.\" The hotel was not that clean, my shower was leaking, food was not good i their highly recommended restaurant.

Great for a short stay to visit Venice

Excellent hotel. Would recommend this for a short visit to Venice if you don't want to pay the extra high costs of hotels in Venice itself. Convenient shuttle bus ride is only 10 minutes away, and the hotel has newly renovated rooms. I would definitely stay here again in the future.
