Welcome to the Hunter Valley Resort, home to Hunter Farm and Adventure Centre. We are a family-owned and operated business with over 30 years of experience.
Reaching the Wine Country is easy: take the Wine Train from Sydney, a two-hour drive north of the city, or fly into Newcastle Airport (NTL), just an hour away, with direct service to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Melbourne. The resort features a taproom, restaurant, wine-tasting experiences, wine and cooking schools, candy-making classes, and the Hunter Wine Theatre.
We offer a range of excellent four-star rooms and cottages, perfect for families and couples. Surrounded by 55-year-old Shiraz vineyards, the resort was fully refurbished in 2020/21.
Hunter Farm and Adventure Centre offers children's activities with farm animals, horse-riding adventures, carriage rides, Segway back-country tours, and electric bikes.
With a stay at Hunter Valley Resort in Pokolbin, you'll be 5 mi (8 km) from Hunter Valley Gardens and 10 mi (16.1 km) from Hunter Valley Wildlife Park. This family-friendly hotel is 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Thomas Wines and 0.4 mi (0.7 km) from Keith Tulloch Wine.

No check in staff when we arrived and night porter ( only 8pm) had no idea if restaurant was still serving food ( we would have stayed elsewhere if he had told us no as we booked spur of the moment). Internet in the room was unusable which caused issues for us. Otherwise an ok stay. The cellar tasting was good and the host excellent.

Of a night time i had to leave the bathroom light on to try and atteact all the mosquitoes that were in out room somehow. The buzzing noise from them was so bad and it got to the point i was fighting them off my children as they tried to sleep.

Cottages were dirty, and extremely run down. In need of a lot of maintenance. Greeted at reception with a sticky note to say screen doors broken treat it carefully. Water pressure almost non existent. It was hard to have a decent shower. Hand basins had a trickle of water. Verandah steps broken. Cocktails were good and bar staff friendly. Meals were very average. Breakfast staff inexperienced and unfriendly.
Reception staff simply accepted keys when checking out, no chat as in I hope you enjoyed your stay or safe travels home. I was hopeful the online reviews matched the experience. Sadly not the case. Would never stay there again.

A fantastic location with plenty of activities to keep kids, young and old, occupied. The staff are excellent, really welcoming and make you feel right at home. The view from 4 pines is amazing and definitely a must do for dinner and sunset! The rooms are very spacious and clean, if a little tired but it adds to the rustic charm. Parking is plentiful. Wish I had stayed longer!

Good family facility well appointed room, farm for kids, lawn games, great food coffee beverage and lovely staff. Beware check in if you do not have a physical plastic card (it’s 2024 resort!). We didn’t. Had paid in full upfront. Don’t accept digital cards, wouldn’t put deposit on card, wanted cash! Was 30 mins of ringing banks and credit card company to get full card number before we could check in. Not ideal after a road trip with a 1 and 3 year old. Thought at one point we would have to go home even though as I said before we had paid up front in full. At least tell guests in advance you want an actual card or cash and that you don’t accept tap and go!

Absolutely loved this property. The staff were so welcoming and the room was just what we needed - the mattress was DIVINE! We watched the movie about Wine Making and had a wine tasting experience that was not only tasty but educational. Everything we needed was right there on the property and I highly recommend.

The resort was excellent and was everything we wanted. The bed was so comfy and the room was so clean. The only issue was our room locked behind us after hours and we didn’t have the key when we went to the after hours button and tried phoning the number multiple times, no one answered, we then remembered that we had been out the back of the room on the patio and realised we hadn’t locked that door so we got in. It was about 4 hours later that a man opened the door to wake us up and see if we were alright. It was a nice cold evening and luckily we got back inside

This was a trip with friends and we had a stay in a Hunter room. The room was comfy with all we needed for an overnight stay. The room was overlooking a grassy area and tennis courts, with a nice private courtyard to sit in and enjoy the view. We used the pool which our kids said was a little cold, but to be expected for the time of year. It was clean with some sunloungers for us to make the most of the great weather. The free session learning about wine making followed by wine tasting was a great touch and the staff member conducting that was very informative and funny. On site there are various activities you can partake in. The farm yard was basic but fabulous and the kids (and us!) loved the friendly animals. We went on a horse trek and the staff could not have been any more helpful, it was stunning scenery and really enjoyable. We'd definitely return.

This is an older property that is well kept. We were comfortable and the room was big enough for our group of three adults. The restaurant was acceptable. We did not use any of the amenities (pool, farm tours, wine school or Segway tours) as we were only stopping in on a road trip through the area.There are MANY wineries in the area and some are an easy walking distance from the property.

Pros: We enjoywd our stay in the resort, very tranquil which we were looking for. A bit far from the city but since we have a car, it is no issue.

Would be good if there are more hanging hooks near the bath tub or the towel rail is behind the bathroom door so we don't have to step our wet feet on the bath mat and the one showered next have to step on a wet mat. Also, it would be more hygiene to provide bath gel instead of soap for shower.
