The property is in a beautiful setting and looks great on the market pictures, but in reality it is severely neglected. As soon as we got into our room it smelt very damp and old. The glass in the bathroom cabinet doors was cracked and broken, the walls were marked, the paint was peeling around the bottom of the shower and the patio doors.

The room was full of dust and wasn’t clean- the maids didn’t clean the bathroom properly at all and there was still hair in the shower from the previous occupant.

What really made it apparent was when we went to the pool area. The Jacuzzi was absolutely disgusting.. it looked yellow in colour and dirt was settled on the areas where you sit in it. The pool was freezing and the jacuzzi was boiling.. the temperatures were completely off.

We went to lay downtown the loungers in the pool area.. I moved the cushion on my lounger and there were two spiders that ran out from under the cushion. It felt like this place had just been abandoned and no staff members were going round cleaning things on a regular basis, hence the dirty jacuzzi and the spiders making homes on the loungers.

There were cobwebs and insect nests all around the property walls and the gardens near the rooms weren’t kept well.

We had one meal at the hotel and it was crazy expensive for how small the potions were.

We would never stay again, it was a bad experience. This hotel has really diminished the good reputation we thought Voco had.

Such a beautiful spot with lovely views and the staff were amazing! So accommodating and helpful, and made our stay extra relaxed!

Buffet breakfast was great and especially catering for gluten free. It would be helpful to have a toaster in the hotel room and even a plate or two and a set of cutlery for basic use.

We love the atmosphere, & especially the spa, will definitely be back!

Voco Kirkton Park, formerly the Sebel built in 1988 is really showing its age. Room cleanliness is not brilliant (grout mold in the shower for example) and room amenities not up to date, bedside PowerPoints difficult to access (power boards on the floor) bed titled in the the centre and a wonky ironing board.
The pool was lovely, didn't check out the bar or restaurant though

Travelled with 7 month old baby which was noted on the booking but there was no cot set up in the room. The floor was covered in animal and human hair. Under the bed was thick with dust. The shower took about 15mins to regulate the temperature and there was black stuff coming off the shower floor (possibly mouldy old silicone). The water pressure was non-existent. There was no microwave in the room.
Considering the cost of the room per night, the amenities and cleanliness were lacking substantially.
Not to mention that reception failed to provide us with crucial information regarding the wedding we we're attending for.

The reason we chose this property was due to the indoor heated pool... the pool was absolutely freezing and had a pool cleaning machine active during the day which was a trip hazard. Check in was at 3pm, but at 3.40pm we were srill waiting for our room to be ready. Also there was a strong drain smell in our bathroom that was very offputting for our entire stay. The staff were very nice and breakfast was lovely.

We arrived back from an outing just before 10pm - ready for a nightcap at the bar and some food. We were told that bar service finished at 10pm and that the kitchen closed at 9:30pm. So NO FOOD was available at all and NO ALCOHOL was served. The hotel has no room service, no food or snacks in the room and is located in a rural area some distance from the nearest town. Too bad if you come back late and are starving or thirstly, I guess.

Lovely stay at voco Kirkton Park! We stayed here for one night on a quick trip to the Hunter Valley, and wish we could stay longer. The hotel is gorgeous, with beautiful gardens and views, and kangaroos bouncing around the property. Very comfortable room and the breakfast is well worth it! Highly recommend and would stay again.

Looks can be deceiving!

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a different room. On arrival to the room it had wonderful views out the window and off the verandah to the countryside. Amazing sunsets.

The bathroom was in horrible need of repair and update, the bath enamel was actually peeling off large sections of the bath, the taps and hardware on the shower and basin were extremely worn and in need of replacement. The bathroom roof had terrible cracking in the gyprock and needed repair and painting.

Children were constantly running up and down the hallways and verandah which was not separated from other rooms.

The breakfast was lovely in the resteraunt in the mornings with the staff there extremely lovely.

Upon trying to organise some in room dining on the final night the QR code for ordering was not functioning properly and would not allow you to submit your order. Upon trying to use the room phone to contact the resteraunt or front desk the phones did not work. We then proceeded to contact the front desk and restaurant via mobile phone with no answer for almost an hour and a half. We gave up after that.

Suffice to say we won’t be returning to Voco Kirkton Park any time soon.

Charming Overnight Stay

Saturday night stay in King Valley-View room.
Unexpectedly & notably quiet for a weekend night which was very welcome.
Character-filled, old-worldy ambience in decor of room. Older bathroom but suited the style & all very clean & practical. I would suggest a wall-mounted vanity mirror be included as mirror area a little dark for shaving/make-up applying.
Very comfortable bed & pillows....like sleeping on a cloud.
Room was very clean throughout with beautiful views.
Unfortunately, we weren't left any slippers with our robes which would have been handy.
The verandah partitions are incomplete & so are open to next door's & at one point in the late afternoon, a child walked past a couple of times. Wasn't a big issue but not as private as could be.
Overall, a quiet, clean, comfortable stay. The Epoch bar is lovely too with great food & service.

We had a bad stay because the hotel room was stinky and not clean. We can see dust and hair on floor. Beddings were quite smelly and dusty making us unable to sleep at night, instead we cough and sneeze throughout the night. Bathroom is too small and water leaks from glass door onto the toilet floor. The hotel needs a deep clean.

Positive compliments are that front desk staff was friendly and helpful; morning breakfast is amazing.
