The room was filthy, carpets terrible smelly and old. Toilet seat was blistered and peeling. It's an old nursing home and has never been renovated. Absolutely disgusting, do not waste your money. It's the second worst motel that I have ever stayed in. Manager was not even at reception.

The accommodation was as we expected. You get what you pay for. The sheets on the bed were very clean but the bathroom the next morning hosted a small huntsman spider and a bug I did not recognise.

The staff were nice enough, but gee…. We didn’t want to spend much time there. Tired common areas, group of residents sitting out the back drinking and smoking. Dark corridors to rooms. Room smelt stale. Windows didn’t open. Growth on wooden window frame. Cobwebs around bathroom window and ledge. Note said to you blue or black face washers provided so as not to stain with makeup etc, but none provided (we take our own). Thought we would save some money not staying in the Hunter as not too far to drive. Probably should have spent the extra $$

It’s called Travelers Rest and I didnt get a good rest. There were only 5 cars in the carpark, 3 of which I'm guessing were staff cars, one was my car and one was another guest. From the whole hotel they put me in a room opposite the other guests which sounded like a large, VERY loud family with a dog. I woke up everytime time I left and entered the room as the walls here are paper thin. I could hear their TV all night and i'm confused why the staff did not space out the guests correctly. Noise was a major issue from the other guests and the kitchen sounds.

Also no iron, I asked for an iron there was none provided.

Very old and dated reminded me of my granny's 2 bedroom unit best thing about is first impressions from the driveway nice gardens goes downhill from there.
No towels or face clothes in the room a simple check would have solved this prior to check in only one power point in the bathroom above the toilet of all place's let's hope you toothbrush was fully charged and you're electric razor.

Hallway needs updating, bit more diligent cleaning

Was great greetings while at reception as there were guests already checking in. Ample of guest Parking. Found a bug on a pillow.
One of the tv channels kept freezing on the pictures and you could only hear the sound.
Toilet was left used and uncleaned. As there were wee on the seat and in toilet. But the toiletpaper was folded.
Didn't like that there are no plugs in the room close to pillows as to charge my phone, as I like the phone close to me for the alarm in the morning.
The hallway smelt and looked old could do with a revamp. Maybe more colour.
Also maybe some flowers outside the window around the edges.

The room was clean and quiet given its proximity to main roads, however the facilities were extremely minimal.

On the plus side the place was nearly empty on a Friday night with all other accommodation booked out within 50km of Cessnock by weekend visitors to the Hunter Valley.

The Travellers Rest therefore provides almost guaranteed accommodation, even on a long weekend for people travelling from Sydney to the Hunter Valley vineyards.

The hosts are friendly, but a little bit stingy in terms of the personal care products, and coffee bar ingredients, and no mini bar being available.

Basic facilities, but clean and quiet. If you want no frills accommodation near the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, this is the place. Nothing wrong with no frills - you get what you pay for and it is more than adequate. Staff very business-like - check you in and leave you alone - again, nothing wrong with that.

I have stayed at this pretty motel before & it will always be my choice when visiting family in Cessnock .It is not 5 star furnished but basics are there .The feeling of peace & quiet as soon as stepping out of car into beautifully maintained garden is just lovely & interior lounge area is pretty too.

Small room, uncomfortable bed, and INTERNET limited at 100 Mo - impossible to look for touristic information (what to see tomorrow ?). Impossible to pay some more. The manager does't mind my problem...

Hotel was ok, but WAY too expensive for what it offered - which was just a clean room, minimal tea/coffee facilities, cheap soap and no other toiletries and no mini bar. Bring your own hairdryer and toiletries !!

A very quiet place to stay, the room was clean and comfortable.However the clock radio was faulty and with two adults there was only one face washer, the fridge was not economical as it left us with frozen milk to have a cup of tea, there was no option for green tea. We should have taken our own pillows.

Good budget hotel

No frills price. Attended Hunter Valley wedding so just needed somewhere to sleep overnight. Everything clean and was very quiet being off main road. Room small but that's no surprise, There is no extras so make sure you bring everything - no form of hairdryer provided. For the price very good. Manager allowed us to check in half an hour early without penalty - gold star for that!
