The room was not clean upon arrival—we found a cigarette butt on the floor as soon as we checked in. The bedroom and bathroom were also very cold, even after we tried increasing the heater temperature.
On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was quite good. However, the view was disappointing, as it overlooked the parking lot and railroad. The photos on Expedia only showed ocean views, and none indicated the railroad, which was misleading

The property is off a busy expressway. Once you're inside the property, it's not bad. There is parking but during busy times, the lot may get full quickly. It's a small hotel so don't expect anyone to come out to help you. The day time staff is much better than the evening. The evening guy was meh.. not much personality and didn't do much other than check you and that's it. We asked how to get to the other side where the beach is. He had no clue. The day time staff was much better equip to answer questions and help with general questions. The room was not bad. Shower was good, strong pressure. The sofa bed was decent along with the 2 beds. Breakfast was included and was decent. The place is convenient to drive around to the beach and to the nearby shopping mall. We would probably not go back to this beach due to the fact it's on the opposite side of the beach and not a safe way to get across.

On arrival the prepaid cocktails were not available as waiter was not on duty, so ended up with a basic drink. No iron at all on the property. The hotel is out of the way but that is my fault I should have done more research on the area. The staff were all friendly and house keeping was always done when requested.

The hotel is has great facilities, rooms and building in general are very clean and comfortable, small pool but the beach is just few blocks away so it's a great location. Their customer service is exceptional, every staff we encountered was friendly and courteous.

Very charming lay out with a lot of greenery. Dining and breakfast areas and menu were compelling to stay in.

A 5 minute walk to sandy beaches with the water much warmer than the Algarve, due to \"the current\" according to the locals.
We will book again.

Everyone was so friendly, and a joy to be around. All the staff was amazing. I loved that a member of your staff got our rental car. Everyone at Solar was really amazing and incredible and made our journey in Portugal start and end on a fantastic note. I will recommend this hotel to everyone that I know here in Canada when they go to Portugal!

Hotel was very nice but have two complaints. The breakfast was only ok. The bacon tray was always empty. Other hotels had much better breakfasts - esp for the price. WIFI reception in the bedroom of our suite was terrible and dropped continuously.

The photos on Hotels.com don't do this property any justice, whilst it looks pleasant enough we booked it expecting it to be a bit dated and for the pool area to pretty much be just a splash pool but were prepared to accept that as it was in an area that we wanted to be near, cleaniness and service is more important than decor and the price was great compared to everything else round about but we were really pleased on arrival as the hotel is lovely! Its a beautiful building, the rooms are huge and the staff were great! Yes it could do with a bit of modernisation, especially the bathroom and the air con but it was clean, comfortable and the pool area is a great wee space to chill out and the breakfast was ideal to set you up for the day. It is located about 30 mins drive to Lisbon city and about 20 mins from the town of Cascais (which is well worth a visit), there are 2 train stations near the hotel which give you access to many of the towns nearby. Would def stay here again if we ever go back to this area of Portugal.

We couldn't believe such a beautiful hotel for the price and its right across from the beach. The grounds are beautiful throughout. The beautiful rooms are spacious and very clean. Guest service desk is 24-hours and continental breakfast. Entered room with a large, well arranged, room-service looking tray. I wish we had time for the spa!

30 yrds away from a duel carriage way in front , 100 yds away from a railway lline behind that starts at 6.00 a.m and finished at 01.00 a.m
room was from the 80's.At 5ft 8 I still had to bend down to shower and this was so completely uncomfortable. cupboards were chipped and broken, marble table was cracked completely down the middle and somehow stuck together. Wardrobe doors were off runners and made the loudest noise. everyone in rooms next to us could here, and we could here them Food was awful....I have been on many holidays with Expedia and this is so the worst...I would look at your choice

Nice holiday here but a couple of drawbacks.

The hotel is nice and clean and the staff were fine and the beach is close but the dinner (which we only had once) was unbelievably awful - they have never heard of vegetarians and after waiting an hour we got pasta with plain sieved tinned tomatoes on it, no vegetables, herbs, seasoning etc. The other meals, which were meat, also took an hour and were inedible. The poor waiter seemed overworked and frazzled and was doing the whole dining room alone. The continental breakfast the next day was fine though. Odd that dinner was so bad as everything else is really nice. It is quite dated decor etc but clean and comfy and our rooms were big. They have a mini fridge and kitchen cupboards but no sink or cooker so it's a slightly odd set up. There is a supermarket in the village 10m away. The pool is lovely, clean and with a shallow ledge for kids. The hotel is right next to a main road. If you are not driving then the pavement into the village (right) and to the beach (left) are terrifyingly narrow along a dual carriageway road with no railing but if you cross over the road ( there is a green man crossing just outside hotel to the left and opposite the village 10m away on the right) the pavement is wider. Lovely having a beach so close and Cascais station is a ten minute walk. Parents with young children and no car will probably just worry about the road all the time though as there are no railings and they are driving at 60 along there.

This hotel is located about 7.5 miles from center of Lisbon, which is about 15 min drive. The hotel is beautiful and just across a drive way from Atlantic ocean. We saw sunset in the morning when we stayed there. And we saw fireworks of Lisbon and other two places over Atlantic Ocean on New Year's eve in the yard. It is in between Lisbon and Sintra, so it is in a perfect location. Hotel has a parking place in the yard, which is very safe. The room is spacious and provides a small refrigerator. Staff are nice. I high recommend this hotel if you have a car.

If you want an experience that tests your willingness to deal with mediocre, it's the place for you. The restaurant is very expensive for the basics. The rooms have a great layout but are outdated. The highway and train noise is manageable but you need the windows open to air out whatever it is that they use to deodorize the furniture. There is no shuttle to the trains which would definitely be value adding. The older gentlemen at the desk are fine. The older lady made us laugh because she is definitely not customer service material. No one is gregarious. A little love and cheap food and drinks goes a long way Solar Palmerias. It can make people overlook a lot of short comings.

So dated the sofa in the room had stains and a big hole in it. Mold on the wall and carpet room needed to br totally renovated wifi was ok parking tight but plenty and free dinner in restaurant terrible and overpriced but worst meal ive jad in a long time.

We spent Christmas week in Portugal and rented a suite (2 adults + 2 children). The suite has two very spacious rooms, table area for breakfast, at a price of a regular double room in other hotels in that area of the greater Lisbon. The hotel is not new, and furniture items feel a bit dated, but all the extra space and the gorgeous sea view more than compensate. Having the buffet breakfast facing the sea is a very nice touch. Conveniently located near to of the main roads to Lisbon, he location is also great for someone who wants to explore the city and surroundings based out of a comfortable and quiet location.

The hotel was clean. On one side of the hotel is the highway and on the other side is where the train goes by so it's not the place to be if you want peace and quiet. The staff was very friendly. The buffet breakfast is more or less a continental style breakfast. The restaurant doesn't have much of a food selection of there is a very limited menu available during the day (other than for dinner). Apparently Monday and Tuesday nights, hotel patrons can't use the restaurant (we weren't told ahead of time). The pool is very small. If having a solid WiFi connection is important to you then you will be disappointed. Given its location, you have to took a 5 minute loop around to head towards almost any place you'd be looking to go. We booked on short notice and it was fairly inexpensive so we got what we paid for. If you stay here, I suggest walking 10 minutes down the road to find nice restaurants.

A great base hotel from which to explore Portugal

Solar Palmeiras Turned out to an outstanding hotel as a base for visiting all of Portugal. Provided you are traveling by car. Located on the coastal highway about 15 minutes from the center of Lisbon and close to the main travel highways north and south, the hotel has ample free self parking and is ideally situated for your travels. The hotel was sparsely occupied during our 2 week stay in November. A never changing but ample buffet breakfast is served in their dining room. Try to get a room in the new section of the hotel and one facing the ocean. The suites are spacious and maid service is excellent. Unfortunately nothing is really reachable from the hotel by foot. Train service to Lisbon and all of Portugal is close by. We loved this hotel! The hotel is located right next to the coastal highway and train tracks are near the rear of the hotel but sound levels were manageable. Additionally the Solar Palmeiras was an outstanding value.

The hotel sits on the river road 15 minutes by train from Lisbon. We stayed for 1 week in a 1st floor suite. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a small balcony, living and dining area. There is ample storage and a small fridge, One full en-suite bathroom and separate facility off the lounge area.

Other reviews mention the noise from the road and the railway line. Our room was situated at the back of the hotel beside the railway and the noise was not a problem at all.

The pool facility is excellent, south facing with ample sunbeds available throughout our stay.

The breakfast was good with cold and hot food on offer. The staff are helpful and go out of their way to assist with any questions or issues. There is a nice quiet lounge area where you can relax and enjoy cable TV if you are looking to catch up on anything.

The wifi signal was good throughout the hotel and free.

Great Deal on an Underappreciated Gem

We got an great price to stay at this place. There's plenty written in other reviews about how the furnishings are a little old, and how the train on one side and the highway on the other make it a little noisy. What these reviews don't tell you is that the hotel is really nicely put together, that the rooms are spacious and comfortable and that the hotel was perhaps at one stage rather grand indeed. They don't mention that the breakfast is generous, that the pool (though not huge) is perfect for a dip and a splash between sunbathing or beach hopping or quick trips into Lisbon, and they neglect, above all, to mention how helpful, professional and attentive the staff are. We had a wonderful stay here and would certainly recommend it!

We checked in late but were warmly greeted and the size of the accomodation was excellent , more akin to a flat than a hotel room . It was exceptionally clean and comfortable if a little dated. Clean towels provided everyday if required . The road outside the hotel was busy but the closeness to the beach was excellent . The free wifi was difficult to pick up in our room and so if we needed to use the wifi we sat in the lounge or the reception area. Breakfast was good, continental , but the dinning room could be crowded at times so I would recommend getting up early for this. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week . Good value for money and as we rented a car as well it was well placed to visit Lisbon, Cascais and the surrounding area .

A sublimely quaint haven for couples/families..!

I was so thrilled to find out that booking our 'getaway' vacation stay at the Solar Palmeiras Hotel was the perfect decision! The hotel staff were amazingly friendly, hospitable and resourceful in terms of providing us with advice and guidance on the best places to visit in Lisbon given our tight vacation schedule. Our resource person was the wonderful Patricia (hotel reception desk) who was so classy, genuine and kind to provide us with just the right places to visit as she understood our craving for tasting the true beautiful Portuguese culture (historic sightseeing, food, wine and music). The hotel's breakfast was also superbly fresh and deeeeelicious just like my dearly departed grandma's place...Brought back so many fond memories of being lovingly welcomed and pampered...! I'll be back at this very special place any time I plan to visit lovely Portugal again..! It will be my 'home' away from home..!Just remember to ask for Patricia at the Reception Desk. Good Hotel, badly sited.

Badly situated. Literally sandwiched between a busy dual carriageway 20 ft away from the front wall and a busy commuter railway line behind (at 1st floor level) so very noisy.This is a pity as the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and front rooms have a good view. There is a sandy beach across the road except at high tide.

You really need a car as pedestrian access to the Hotel from nearest shops or station is only by walking some way alongside aforementioned dual carriageway. Adequate on-site free parking.
Cannot really comment on restaurant food as speciality is fish to which I am alergic but menu only had 2 non-fish main courses and didn't change. Breakfast was fine.
If noise doesn't worry you this is good value for money and is a good centre to explore the area with LIsbon, Sintra. and a number of fine beaches within an hours drive.

Lovely Time!

I went to Oeiras by train looking for the hotel, as it is descibed by Expedia as being there. It is not there at all. It is actually midway between two stations Pacos de Arcos and Caxias on the yellow train line from Lisbon towards Cascais (Cais do Sodre), about a ten minute walk from each. The location right on the sea is superb and a room with a sea view is highly recommended. The rooms are special, nice and spacious, as you have an additional living room with an electric kettle, fridge and dining table. There was masses of hot water at all times and the bed was comfortable. The staff were delightful, very friendly and kind and bended over backwards to be helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent and we met people locally who knew all about it. It has a good reputation locally. The buffet breakfast was also excellent and the coffee very good. There was lots of food catering for everyone. Luigi, our waiter was charming and helpful. He gave us very good walking directions to the tennis, the Portugal Open in Jamor. It was the perfect location for it. We will definitely be going back there! Excellent value for money and very enjoyable experience.

Wir haben uns im Hotel sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Suite ist sehr geräumig, extra Wohn- und Schlafbereich, schöner Balkon mit Meerblick. Man muss wissen, dass die Schnellstraße sich direkt zwischen Hotel und Meer befindet, dadurch ist es bei geöffnetem Fenster dauerhaft laut. Parkmöglichkeiten sind reichlich kostenlos vorhanden. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, Service sehr bemüht und immer sehr freundlich. Zur nächsten Bahnstation sind es 15 min zu Fuß, das sollte man beachten, wenn man kein Auto zur Verfügung hat. Zum nächsten Strand sind es nur ein paar Minuten, man hat das Meer immer in der Nähe. Den Pool haben wir nur 1x genutzt, der Bereich ist hübsch gestaltet, aber eben durch die Straße auch sehr laut. Alles in allem perfekt, wenn man nah am Meer sein möchte und nicht direkt in der Innenstadt.

The air on in the room was broken and replaced by a stand alone unit wit the exhaust in a house leading out an open window.
Ok solution but the unit was extremely loud. No way the unit could be turned on when I was in the room.

The staff was friendly but not very helpful, the waitress in the restaurant forgot my order for food and drinks twice in a week. Furthermore the staff did not speak very good English.

I would not use this hotel again.

I was there for a meeting in Taguspark, the location is good alsince it is less than 15 minutes by uber. The area of the hotel is also nice, just the hotel is very close to a main street and train tracks, nevertheless the room was quite, but you can hear the noise in the garden and swimming pool area. If you are interested in the view, make sure to ask for it, since some rooms do not have it. Overall it was a nice stay for 1 night for work, with the benefit of the swimming pool and sea nearby, breakfast was good and personal was nice.

Het hotel was voor ons netjes en de service was goed. De kamers zijn lekker ruim en we vonden het heerlijk om op het zonneterras te liggen. Het enige minpunt van dit hotel is dat de gehele inboedel wat gedateerd is, hoewel dat ook een bepaalde charme geeft

Eigentlich nur ein 2-3 Sterne Hotel

Eigentlich war es ganz gut großes zimmer mit Schlafcouch... aber es ist schade das der Eigentümer sich nicht um Renovierung kümmert es müsste General überholt werden. Man liegt am pool und hofft das man bedient wird bei 4 sterne setze ich das eigentlich voraus aber nee man muss rein gehen bestellen und wird sofort zur kasse gebeten man kann es nicht mal auf zimmer schreiben lassen .... personal kümmert sich sehr selten bis gar nicht um den aussenbereich .... Frühstück war ok nicht weltbewegenes außer das man keine tische zusammenstellen darf ... sprechen ein bisschen englisch sonst fast nur portugiesisch
Zimmerreinigung war super 💪👌👍

Helt nydelig service, med hyggelig personale som hjelper til døgnet rundt. Fantastisk frokost og en utrolig hyggelig restaurant manager som sørger for at du nyter maten og slår av en hyggelig samtale. Selve hotellet er en perle ved kysten og kort gå avstand til stranden. Et utrolig hyggelig opphold og vi kommer mer enn gjerne tilbake. Takk for oss

Excelente localização. Possuía todas as condições para ser uma excelente estadia. Todavia, os quartos estão velhos, mobiliário estava furado, toalha de banho furada, banheiro sem luminosidade, torneira não chegava ao meio da pia, café da manhã horrível ! (Café frio, pão duro, pão amanhecido, sem frutas) Funcionários pouco amigáveis e que sequer se dispuseram a “trocar” o quarto em razão de todos os problemas citados. Há opções melhores na região.

Foi uma estadia pelos 25 do meu filho, só foi pena tudo aquilo que tinha pedido eu a pagar que não tenha sido colocado no quarto . Pedi um bolo de anos, morangos e champanhe disse que pagava e não foi fornecido.
Tirando isso eu própria irei com o meu marido passar uma noite
