What a DEAL!! An incredibly nice, clean, centrally located modern hotel at such a low price - and that price included an all-you-can-eat Chinese breakfast buffet each morning.

On-site gym and outdoor pool, on-site convenience store, on-site restaurant, shuttle service to the 3 major shopping malls, on-site laundry service, and a huge, well-furnished, well-kept hotel room with all the modern-day amenities I needed. I HIGHLY recommend the Ming Garden Hotel is/when you're visiting Kota Kinabalu.

I stayed here for a few nights and was unimpressed with the cleanliness of the hotel.

There was some mould on the roof of my bedroom and bathroom, and the carpet was dirty. There were strange stains on the headboard of the bed.

The breakfast service was quite untidy, with plates not well cleaned and surfaces unclean

When we arrived we got a room which was very cold because of the AC and we couldn't change the temperature. We asked for a new room and had to wait till 1am. We arrived the hotel at 9:45pm. When we checked in, we also asked where we can find any dinner, and she said the restaurant was closed. When we came up to the room we realized there was room service and we actually could order food. But then we have already order food via grab.

I think this hotel have no replacement towel policy. 5 nights stay either they leave 1 towel or no towel at all. Soap and shampoo will not be replenish until u request.

Place was very accomodating... nice comfortable beds, great location. A frustrating stain on one of the seats, and a some spots appearing around the AC. Wasn't perfect but it had really good vibes, great people. I kept extending my stay in KK and consistently chose Ming.

Free parking only for one time in/out, after that will need to pay even when during the booking confirmation stated free parking.
The internet very slow, TV not clear.

give me a bad name

Very old and dirty place in need of an upgrade. Kettle was broken but they came immediately to replace it. Just one international outlet. TV has great channels but reception was terrible. Toiletries are yucky. location Is the worst. Breakfast buffet is sketchy. Free but not really good. I could’ve gotten better for the money.
Room was good size though. WiFi was not bad.
Checkin was good. Don’t exchange currency here. The rates are insulting.

Very helpful staff. Went extra mile to accommodate our veg food requests during breakfast. We took 2 BHK residence for 5 nights and were served well. Hotel was very crowded during CNY holidays so got bit messy in dining area but no complaints. Approach to hotel is a bit roundabout but it is what it is. They can’t help it. New and shiny mall close-by. 5 MYR by grab.

The room was very large and the king size bed was super comfy. There was plenty of options of getting drinks, snacks and meals and the choice at breakfast was amazing. We were lucky to have a room next to the pool which was always a pleasant place to pop to for relaxation. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Property is just on the outskirts of the City Centre (approx. 2 km walking distance to Central Market). We used Grab (like Uber) to hire private cars to take us to/from for only 5MR instead of walking. Hotel staff is very attentive and helpful.

The hotel looks amazing and nice, the cleanliness and services are acceptable. Unfortunately there are too many Chinese and Korean tourists that turned the hotel so noisy at the lobby. During the breakfast time, it was a disaster just to have a coffee. Other than that, all good.

The facility was rather old, water dripping from the air corn and we have to shut down one of it to stop the dripping. Bathroom host also experienced water drop and was about 30% wet the following morning. Staff was polite in general. Check-in took over 30 mins even though we arrived at the hotel at 4pm. The room was not ready at the time of check-in even though we arrived late. This was quite disappointing.

The Kids club is so so only but the pool is nice and clean.
Breakfast - got a lot of variety but not tasty, coffee is quite dilute.
No enough staff to clear table and do table setting.
Going through a lot of hassle to get a cultery set
Parking is a total joke, shouldn't be collecting ticket at the first place as need to go the parking counter to collect packing ticket when coming in and submit it back to the counter again when going out.
Toilet is too small,
Imago Shopping center is near but can't walk over as got flyovers and highway in the middle

Stayed 8 nights. Hotel was full most of the time as it was Chinese and Korean national holidays. Services at the hotel did not suffer despite being so busy. Pool a nice size and depth for swimming a few lengths.

Unhappy check in request, but fixed

I have an unhappy check in experience, where when I called in the morning asked if early check in is available, I was being turned away perfunctorily, which I think either the staff is new, or she did it deliberately. However, after leaving feedback at the website, management replied to me and gave me a better room when I checked in at night. The management appreciated feedback and care for the customer. For this, I think this hotel will keep on improving.

Relatively cheap hotel

This hotel gave me a deluxe suite. Compared to the price, the suite is spacious. As for the breakfast, it is ok. I had bread, eggs and fruits every morning. The relatively bad thing about the hotel is that they provided me with only one big towel although I asked them to give me 2 towels. The location wise, it is convenient to go to Imago shopping mall and downtown by shuttle for 3 ringets.

- Very old, rooms are dirty and need a huge cleaning from ceiling to the floor. Nothing the cleaners can do, its the whole place which need to be renew.
- Nothing to cook in the kitchen ( we had a 2 bedrooms appt), kitchen is useless. 2 plates 2 forks 2 spoons
-Wifi is ok but to work its too slow
- Beds are ok and clean
- Bathroom are ok and average clean
- Breakfast is good but crowned so not eays to get food, you almost need to fight :D, was gppd to have vip room due to room grade so it was more calm and peacfull that the main room. Waiters were super nice
- Spa is to avoid, rude, the girl pick up her phone i the middle of the massage, I chose aronatherapie and it was painfull like I never seen, very not relaxing at all. I told 6 times to be more gentle. Plus I had to insist to get a massage, I walk in, they said we fully booked but it was no one there, the gilr was watching tv
- Mall in front but impossibe to croos the big street with kids and stroller
-Kids room wiht no toys, one slide and 1 table, full of mosquito. One day the staff came as we were playing and took all toys away without explanation, very rude
-Pool is dirty and old
-Have not tried restaurant but food in the room was ok
-Gym is ok
- Positive points : having 2 bedrooms and a living rooms for the kids and the welcome fruits, chocolate and baby crib (which was very old too but at leats we had one)

2nd time staying at the hotel. A lot of Korean tourists. Great breakfast buffet - salute to the restaurant staff for managing huge crowds every morning. Love the bedroom aircon.
Perhaps the hotel could petition the KK city/ Sabah government to build a bridge between the hotel and Imago shopping area. So many tourists crossed the 8 lane roads dangerously every day and it is perhaps good for your hotel customers safety. Since the only entry to the hotel is one road, perhaps petition the KK city council to keep the area clean of tall grasses. Just a thought.

My stay there was very good, the staff are very welcoming and very approachable. They were able to assist me in some ways. Though I was expecting that they will provide me a transportation on my way to the hotel since i added this as a request upon booking. I paid 30 MYR for a taxi going to the hotel.

my booking was for superior room but is it upgraded to 1-bedroom suite. friendly and accommodating front desk staff and officer who also mind to give me a complimentary drinks while waiting for my room to be fix. food during buffet breakfast was minimal but very tempting for my appetite. the pool was great, relaxing and refreshing especially now its summer. ill like to stay here again next time i return to kk.

I came with 4 families in total. We booked 4 rooms. The day we arrived, we checked in late. We requested for connecting rooms & all rooms be on the same floor but it was not available due to high occupancy. At the same time, there were groups check in from China. They were very loud & noisy, more like in a market rather than in a hotel lobby. We waited an hour for us to get our room keys. Mr Boya was very nice to upgrade us to junior suites just to get all rooms on the same floor. It was worth the wait.

Stayed in a twin-bedroom with mum. At first glance room seemed clean, but there was a long strand of hair by the pillow when I got to the room. Though the room was spacious not very comfortable- the bathroom had a glass that was almost visible from the bed. There was no light in the shower booth- had to depend on the light from the bathroom. Though we requested for non-smoking room (and checked upon check-in, and we were put on non-smoking floor), the floor we stayed on smelled of cigarette smoke.

The walking distant to the room is a bit inconvenience as I stayed at the fourth floor . There is a short-cut way to my room that l need to pass by the swimming pool to walk to my room. There is no shops operating in the hotel.

The breakfast buffet is awesome, with many kinds of local and fusion food for us, also the drink is fresh.
Facilities are also well-operated. Such as swimming pool, Gym room and spa room are wonderful!

It is large accommodation perfect for family.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. Location is a bit awkward since there is no pedestrian road crossing facilities to go across the road to the shopping mall opposite the main road. I saw people crossing the road and looks a bit dangerous, hope it will improve in the near future. Meals at the hotel were tasty. Hotel even has fresh flowers and fruits the first day checked in. First time from all the years I have been visited so many hotels, exceptional outstanding for this specific service!
