Kingston hotel is old, musty smelling and long overdue for renovations but it is at a great location! Neither Kingston or Hotels.com was clear that some of the rooms don’t have a private bathroom! Be careful when you book!

Will never use this hotel again
We had an emergency where my daughter (18yrs) had a cancelation over night and I couldn't host her
I totally understand the policy of no visitors
Tried to get exception or even room upgrade but they didn't have any availability & before that the receptionist along with his manager decide that I can buy a new room not an upgrade before they discover no rooms available
I had to book at another hotel leaving my room and staying with my daughter.
During the whole discussion he totally refused to let the girl even enter the door and have the discussion inside!!!
I had to pay a night at another hotel to not let my daughter in the street.

This is all beside the bad air-condition that works for an hour or so and then disconnect even though its a separate unit
The coffee the only available at the reception and if you're 5 mins late after 10 am no more coffee!!

I travel a lot and this by far was the worst stay / experience i had in years

Stayed a night for a World Cup game as a family. It was the perfect location walking distance to the stadium, local restaurants and transportation. The room was clean, check in and check out were quick and easy. Did not go there for or expect any amenities.

I love the room even if it was small, yes shared bathroom was unique but it was not bad I got my shower and break without ease. Wifi was great, I think the only adjustment and maybe I am not aware. If you are going out but you might not be confident in keeping the key is to hold it in small box with all the room numbers in a slot or something. Other wise I would use this hotel again very nice area. Thank you. AC was good staff was good.

Fantastic location, very clean room, very nice staff. Bathroom was very clean. Room was somewhat warm at night and we weren't able to adjust it, I think the hotel controls it. If we wanted to spend more money per night, I would have chosen a more modern hotel. For what it is, the Kingston is adequate and even somewhat charming since it is so old.

The Kingston Hotel has a boutique vintage feel to it. It has 4 floors, I stayed on the 4th.

I absolutely adored how much wallpaper was everywhere - not everyone’s vibe but I absolutely loved that.

We had a room with a double bed and bathroom - it was a very tiny room and the double bed is probably the smallest double I’ve seen? I’m only 5’6” and my feet hit the end of the bed kinda hanging off. I’m going to say that was the only negative tho! It’s very simple and if you are someone who has strong particulars on how you like things it might not be your tea. There is some wear to the building - it’s an old building!

Location is perfect, free tea and coffee 7am-10am - when I checked in and later in the evening it was also available. Not sure if that’s the norm!

Also shout out for how many bathroom items they leave for you. Very very generous. There’s a toothbrush and toothpaste, make-up wipes - etc. much more than what Ive had from fancier more expensive hotels.

It cost 350$ off of Expedia for 1 night booking one week before the day.

I had a quote on what the price is to book directly and I highly recommend others calling the hotel directly if trying save money - assuming you are looking for affordability.

We enjoyed staying at the Kingston. The room was very comfortable with nice big chairs to lounge in and comfy beds. It was decorated in an Edwardian style which was fun and appropriate for the area. Easy walk to good places to eat and to transportation. Walk to Gas Town and the steam clock. Would gladly stay here again.

Dated decor but no real issues. Mini split AC unit in room is very good, rooms are compact but perfectly ok for short stay overs.
TV was very small but good enough. I’d stay again if my first choices were to overpriced.
It’s well placed for downtown east to walk out and explore that part of Vancouver.
my only minor gripe was tea and coffee service doesn’t start until 7am but i had to leave the hotel for the airport at 630am a brew would have been nice.

First thing you should knowis the bathroom is shared with everyone else staying there. The room is small and ugly with only a bed, sink and wooden kitchen chair. There isn't any TV, radio or anything. A complete dump that will cost you $285 with parking. I won't ever be back.

Room. Was small but not so small that a tall big man could not survive a few nights. Was not what I expected with shared bathroom but I worked very well for me.
Bathroom with separate shower and two toilet stalls (men’s- on door. Was clean tidy. Never saw another guest in the bathroom. A robe essential for late night visits to the loo.
Sink in room hand. No tv but I did not miss it.

The location is the only saving grace from my experience. I paid $300 for a closet! Single bed (not even a twin), a sink, and a very uncomfortable little chair . No TV! And no radio/alarm. Outlet by the bed for charging was hidden behind the nightstand. Thin walls; heard the neighbour's every move. One central shower and toilet for twenty rooms in my wing. The \"snacks\" room was empty: no vending machines of any sort. No breakfast, just do it yourself coffee and tea on the morning. In the morning, I talked to the maids. Less than half the rooms were used on my floor and hardly any were used on floor three. Lots of rooms were open during their mooring clean, and they all looked like a typical, larger, hotel room. Why was I stuck with the closet when other rooms were free? When I was a hotel manager, of i could upgrade I would, no questions. I kept our modest rooms for the late night traveler or for our overflow policy. I also got a lecture when I checked in about no guests allowed in the room. Is this a high school dormitory or a downtown Vancouver hotel??

Dated and old, but the location can't be beat. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and safe. We were able to walk everywhere and the nearest train station was only a 2 minute walk away. The pub next door was excellent too and we got a discount while staying at the hotel.

Good location, close to Sky Train station. Priced decently I guess. This is an old building with its quirks. So expect walls to be a bit thin. AC unit blasts to your face on one side of the bed no matter the setting. Storage policy is great though! You can leave your baggages in storage till midnight of your checkout date!

The Kingston has all the things I love about travel. The building itself is really old. My room was a twin with a sink and a shower down the hall. It was clean, comfortable, and felt like a real place instead of a generic hotel room. It's owned by a local family and a lot of the staff is part of the family. It's the first place I've been where the overnight staff was super accommodating. If you need perfect linens, expensive soaps, and a high end bar, its not for you. If you want a quiet and comfortable space in the best location in Vancouver, it probably is.

We had a bad experience staying at this hotel. There was no toilet or bathroom in the room, no TV, the bed was too small for two people, and breakfast only had coffee and nothing else. The hotel had a terrible smell of old clothes and we were very dissatisfied. The price for the hotel is not low at all; they charged us $404 per night.

This is my second time staying here the first one was in 2019. Rooms are small and some of them have no bathroom. It’s down the hall as Sherwin but if you’re looking for low maintenance place to stay, I recommend it. I got a good night sleep staff is super helpful and it’s in prime location.

I would not recommend this hotel. The entire property has a musty smell, similar to an old basement. I also noticed bed bug traps placed under the beds, which was concerning.
I booked my room two months in advance at a set price. When the rate dropped closer to my arrival date, I asked if they could adjust my booking to the lower price, but my request was denied and I was charged the original, much higher rate.
Additionally, the front desk staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful during my stay.
While the extra $200 I spent may not matter much to me in the long run, this experience left a lasting impression—and not a positive one.
I’ve worked in the hospitality business my whole life and this review could have been avoided with proper hospitality.

I’ve had an incredibly pleasant stay in the Kingston hotel. It has an old Victorian style rooms with actual metallic keys to them. It is very cozy and room is made with a great taste. The hotel is located downtown of Vancouver, a 5-10 minute walk to Gastown. The staff have been incredibly friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed talking to a nice lady at the front desk, who every day gave me detailed suggestions where to go, and what to see. It was very easy to explore Vancouver due to the staff courtesy. Thank you to all of you from Southern California!

Great location! Walkable distances to places like the Orpheum, Art Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Gastown. We even walked to Granville Island ferry, a bit longer but a lovely walk.

Clean room, we booked a room with a private bath. We did peek into the shared bathroom, it looked clean.

Our room looked out over the back alley, so no view and noisy at times.

Would definitely stay here again!

The location of this hotel is great and thr skytrain station to the airport is close by. The hotel is clean and felt safe. The room is basic with a comfortable bed. There is free tea/coffee available in the morning. If you like complete darkness to sleep it might be challenging as their is a little window with blinds above the door into the hallway. I was surprised to find that the door didnt have a chain/bar to put across when you are in the room. I felt safe but prefer when this added feature is there. Staff is friendly.

... centrally located ; you can walk anywhere from here in downtown with ease. Only one block from the metro transit line at City Centre, 2 blocks from the Vancouver Art Gallery, only a few blocks from Gastown and the waterfront. I recommend this location if you are looking for a classic out of the way hotel in the downtown area. I've been a few times and it has always maintained quality and service to a high standard
