Well situated for the Altestadt and the attractions. A reasonable walk from the station but acceptable. Comfortable room and excellent breakfast buffet in a light and attractive first floor breakfast room with views.
The ground floor entrance is a little unprepossessing but the welcome was good and the room made comfortable by the air conditioning, which was needed.
A short walk from the attractions in the city.

We spent two nights in Freiburg at this hotel. The town is beautiful and we had a great visit. So much to do and see. The market on the church square was beautiful on Saturday morning.

A couple of things to know. It is a short walk to the hotel from the train but recommend you take the city tram. It lets off very close to the hotel. We walked but one of our luggage wheels did not survive the journey over the cobble stone streets.

The room was nice but there was insufficient cooling and it was warm at night for sleeping.

The hotel location is perfect for walking to most city attractions but the city rail will take you just about everywhere. A couple day pass is a good idea and inexpensive.

Do not opt for the breakfast buffet. There are cheaper and better options for breakfast close by. One breakfast restaurant on the square near the church in the center of town was especially nice but can’t recall the name.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend a stay.

The only negative I can say is that the entrance to the hotel is not the easiest to find.l because you see the restaurant advertisement and not the hotel. However, that is such a minor complaimt.
The room was clean and safe. The staff was so pleasnt, friendly, and helpful. The hotel was also ideally located to the tram and other locations. I highly recommend.

We loved the Mercure Hotel! The location was perfect, the room was clean and comfy, and the staff was very accommodating! I would definitely stay here again! The parking was so easy since the hotel is linked to the parking garage! We did not have breakfast, so I can’t comment on that!

Overall nice hotel with very good breakfast.

The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. I loved the shower. The only thing I didn’t like was two single duvets on a double bed.

Breakfast was fantastic in terms of choices.

Location wise it is close to the Minster and on the side of town that is convenient to go hiking in the hills/Black Forest. Slightly further to walk from the main train station, but still very close to most things.

For what it offered was good value too.

A nice modern hotel well placed for the old town. Staff were helpful and attentive. It lacks anywhere to get a beverage and snack during the day. I arrived at about 9pm and ate in the bar area where I paid over the odds for a very small portion of reheated chilli con carne. In summary, a nice place to sleep but limited other facilities.

Hotter than the surface of the sun. They switch off the air conditioning. Not sure why? I think they believe they are saving penguins rather than caring about the comfort of their guests.
Someone was also smoking on our floor. Took me back to the 90’s. I could have murdered 20 Marlboro lights, right there and then.

We stayed overnight and it was a very comfortable stay and very conveniently located near the old town and cathedral. The rooms are modern and the bathrooms are great. Will definitely stay here again if passing through.

We stayed here 3 nights as a base for visiting the Black Forest. It was perfect. Nice hotel in a central location. You could easily walk into the town. Parking located below the hotel - £20 per night. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as it was expensive but there were bakeries nearby which were lovely. Freiburg is a good location to drive to various places from.

Perfectly located hotel

Stayed for two nigh nights to visit Freiburg and made most of it's perfect location.
The staff, including cleaning personnel are very friendly to our dog too. That made our stay very enjoyable.

The reason for my visit to Freiburg was for the Christmas Market and to see Ravenna Gorge. The hotel was in a good location very close to the Munster and markets. The breakfast, staff and dining area were all very pleasant. It's a nice clean hotel close to shopping too. I would give this hotel 5 stars plus for their staff. When I checked out, I had forgotten my phone and I didn't realize it until I was getting ready to board my train to Baden Baden. A quick call to the hotel revealed they found my phone in my room and turned it in to the desk. I found them to be remarkably trustworthy. It was a great stay in the lovely city of Freiburg!

Beds / mattresses are incredibly hard / uncomfortable- so lack of sleep my main issue. Bar / restaurant very limited opening hours and food choice. Carpets threadbare in many common areas. Only thing going for it is proximity to Freiburgs old town

Room was sweltering and without AC even though AC was listed as an amenity. The staff blamed Hotels.com/Expedia for misrepresenting the hotel. The staff said to just open the window, which opened onto a busy street with lots of load partygoers. Very disappointing for the money.

I could happily have stayed longer here! The staff were just brilliant especially the gentleman on nights at reception who helped me sort out train journeys to Staufen! He went over and above - thank you!
The hotel is perfectly placed for transport and just a few minutes walk from the Market place and facilities. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Good choice for single traveller

Solo trip to visit family in Freiburg. Didn't use any hotel social facilities (my choice to minimise any risky covid contact) but v impressed with care and cleanliness. Room 307 looks towards the Schlossberg, with morning sun. Comfy bed, would prefer firmer pillows but hey, that's such a tiny personal thing. Would definitely choose this hotel again. Perfect location for the old town and city centre.

We started and ended our trip from Zurich International Airport, Mercure Hotel is easy to get to on train from airport, and excellent location to local train station. Full breakfast was terrific, staff pleasant & accomodating. Beds are quite firm (it is Europe, so we expected this, based on past travels), bathrooms are very small, but clean. Rooms are spacious enough, carpets and upholstered furniture have seen better days & should be replaced.

Great mid range hotel in a good location

Located on the edge of the Old Town the hotel is close to the main roads for easy access with to the highways. This is a modern hotel and everything works well. With a car park under the hotel access is easy. The rooms are in good condition and the wifi is strong. Definitely a good place to stay.

Great hotel. fantastic staff and perfect location

Weather was a bit hit and miss and on the day it was really raining we enjoyed staying in the hotel bar for several hours playing darts and table football and drinking and nibbling the food. Hotel is ideally located for the altstadt and some great restaurants as well as the park. Only a 10-15min walk to the train station. The hotel was modern, comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.

We have stayed here at this property before and find it central for walking in the city plus the trams are just around the corner. The hotel has been renovated and is pleasant, clean and all comforts. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking is also in the same building. All in all we would recommend this hotel.

Perfect location!

The hotel is perfectly located 3 minutes from the cathedral, 3 minutes from a tram stop, and 3 minutes from the Schlossberg. It couldn't have been easier to navigate our way around Freiburg. The hotel was clean, well lit and had a comfortable bed. It was fairly spacious. I would definitely stay here again.
