Hotel was clean. Close to tourist areas. Tv remotes did not work and claimed there were elevators but none to be had. Also somewhat difficult to find. Streets very narrow for cars to access. They need to get one remote not use two to be able to use the tv.

Not good hotel, its location is very bad,

the staff not very friendly, the economy room was in the basement, they did not have room for my booking so I was sent to another hotel near by, luckily that hotel was a bit better, cleaner and closer to the main road but still was given a room in the basement with no window, it should say this details about the economy room in the expedia website so people can decide if they want it or choose higher level room.
the worse part was made to feel like unwanted by some staff as I was coming from another hotel.

Hotel staff were quite abrupt upon arrival, the main manager wanted to upgrade our room on arrival for an extra 10€ per night, we refused. He then went down to an extra 5€ per night, we refused that and just wanted the room we had booked. He explained that our room was in the basement and didn’t have a window- which it did. The room was great.
This was not a warm welcome. He then blanked us each day- rude.

i m so disappointed so angry so sad
i got this third hotel on expedia after 2 worst hotel, to get a night sleep a rest in a room to get my airplane tomorrow
i find twin bed with no bedded sheet no cover no couette no pillow this room doesn't contain anything i used my hoody as pillow but i got neck ache i on night feel so cold i did not find cover to cover my body i spent the night cold with neck ache body pain , i didn't find any towel any kind of towel small at least , nothing i dry my hand on my clean clothes
terrible no heating no cleaning no towel no cover no pillow nothing in this room just you pay for a mattress which not confortable why i paid i lose my money for a garbage room better i stand up in the airport all night than this room, plz expedia do something i m saying the full truth here so please do not get what i get and pay a room that look like prison, the prison better may be....
and when you asked him why there is nothing he said that the economic room!!!!!

There are way better options. I wouldn't recommend staying in this area and never book in this hotel. Stressful, awkward, awful welcome to Istanbul. The manager was rude and aggressive. He had a fight with his colleague over my reservation in Expedia in Turkish. I was concerned and confused. The second guy just left the building mad. The first guy told me there were no more rooms available for the rate I had booked and payed and I had to pay 50% more if I wanted to stay, otherwise he'd proceed to cancel my reservation with Expedia. Yes, threatened to kick me out. He said my room eas in thr basement and wouldn't recommend it anyway. I waited some seconds to think about the best solution at 10pm in dark, scketchy, and empty downtown. Then they said he had found another hotel for me in a better street for 25% more. I accepted and ended up in an ok hotel for more money. Worst experience. I let Expedia know, but haven't heard back from them after a month.

I paid for two rooms five nights but I didn't sleep or even entered my booked rooms they refused to let us get in or return back money I found myself with my children and luggage in the street late at night. they are very bad to deal. I called my embassy to report them l don't advise anyone to book in this hotel
And waiting for Expedia to help me return back my money

Many previously wrote about the upgrade scam at this hotel. I was about to experience it myself. I emailed the hotel that I would arrive one day later due to flight changes. Regardless, I was put down as no-show and asked to make a new booking meaing, I had to pay again. I refused and threatened to take the matter further whereupon the manangement asked me to pay 25 euros extra for an upgrade. I was moved to a new hotel 10 minutes away. I have to say this hotel was excellent with a true Istanbul atmosphere. However it does not excuse the upgrade scam or indiffenrent attitude of the management.

We were put in a damp basement room. The bathroom fan did not work. We had to BUY toilet paper and cheap shower gel and shampoo from them!! There was no soap so we used the shower gel as hand wash soap. We were given two dingy, towels, one of them being a bath mat with pictures of feet on them. The towels were tattered and unraveling at the ends with holes in them. It took them three days to clean the room. The sheets were NEVER changed and had brown stains on them. The staff is short and rude! Total ripoff hotel!

Hidden charges, dirty room, bad customer service

This hotel is at a prime location, literally a hop, skip and a jump from Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque, but that's all it has going for it. No matter who runs the reception desk, they are rude. We ended up with a damp, moldy basement room not worth the $115 paid for it. They charged 3 euros for TOILET PAPER, three, dingy towels and two extra small bottles of body wash and shampoo. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A HOTEL CHARGE FOR TOILET PAPER!

Location, location, location

I would recommend this hotel only because of its location. 5 minutes walk to the grand bazaar, blue mosque, hagia sophia and to trams that take you to Taksim. Convenience stores a few meters away. The staff were ok, friendly and helpful. Room cleanliness was good. Bathroom was clean and fine. WiFi was not working though. Probably my bad timing. Room was extremely small but it was cosy. For the price it is a fine place to sleep if you are in Istanbul for a short trip on a hectic itinerary.

Very bad hotel that doesn't respect its customers

They give you a basement room and ask for extra money to take you to a normal room and if you reject they will tell you that they have other branches and they will take you to a better one, And after going to the other branch you'll see that it is a very old house without any sign that shows that it's a hotel then after calling the staff in blue istanbul hotel to complain they hang out the phone line in your face. Believe me it's the worst hotel I've ever seen they make your trip to istanbul miserable.

Do NOT stay here

I am extremely disappointed with Blue Istanbul Hotel, and would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

Firstly, upon arrival, the hotel claimed there was a “problem” with our room and we were moved to another building very late at night. The building was located 5 minutes away, down a steep hill, and certainly didn’t seem very secure. We later found out from reading other reviews that this change of location was the norm. The room itself was very dreary. Additionally, there were problems with our hot water. While the staff tried to fix it the day before we left, we were unable to shower the day of our departure as there was no hot water. There was also was constant heavy smoke coming from the neighbour’s room - despite instructions not to smoke.

The day manager was extremely rude and unwelcoming. He clearly has not understood the tourism industry, nor the concept of hospitality. My friend who I was staying with from London, of Chinese origin, was greeted with a patronising “Ni Hao” on the first morning, and the rude and unfriendly comments continued until we left. While the night manager was extremely nice and helpful, the awful day manager unfortunately ruined our hotel experience. The hotel should take serious action, and look into employing the right people.

Overall, the hotel was not worth the money. While it was situated in a great location near the Aya Sofya and Blue Mosque, I would recommend everyone to look elsewhere.

My over all experience was terrible and inconvenient. The only good thing about this hotel was the cleaning lady and one other staff. Other than that, they are rude and not welcoming especially the manager. Save your time, money and yourself from a stressful situation especially if your trying to have a stress free vacation.

budget rooms are in the basement and it's not mentioned on the online posting. basement room had strong mold odor. They were painting the hallway and paint fumes were very strong even in the room.
Because of all these the manager offered a free upgrade to a nicer room with balcony; However, at the end they charged us for that. They also upgraded another room we reserved at no charge to us.
It says microwave upon request. Not true, you only can use the microwave in the breakfast room.
City of Istanbul has regular water shut offs, so be prepared to take showers only every other day, if you're lucky. Once in the shower, water became freezing cold after 5 minutes and was not warm until next day and it's not very fun in super cold Istanbul November. bathrooms have serious drain problems and you will be showering in standing water. They also stink. It was supposed to be a non-smoking property, but everyone was smoking including staff. I could smell Heavy cigarette fumes from next room. Bathroom and shower floor were not clean at times. Cleaning staff is same as kitchen staff and even though they were very nice people, you do not want your chef prepare your food after they're done with cleaning rooms.
Over all, this stay and dealing with all the unprofessionalism was a very disturbing experience which ruined this vacation for us and left a very bad memory.

When I arrived to check in, my room wasn't ready so I was given a different room in a different building with a \" suite\" I had no problem with that, but when I was taken to the other building OMG, it was a slum! After 2 nights, I asked to be switched back to a room in the actual hotel. The manager said to get my stuff together and that the bellboy would go and get my stuff to bring to my new room. I grabbed my iPod and dropped it in a shopping bag, which was wide opened. I was given a new room and when I looked for my iPod, it was missing, I searched all over my items before complaining to the manager. I went to complain to the manager and all he said was well I have cameras you can check to see who went in your room. The manager was unprofessional and offended that i complained about my stolen iPod. I checked the cameras, but all I was able to see was two bellboys going in my room, they closed the door and minutes later walking out with my luggage and bags. I had to go to the police, but the police didn't help out at all. I asked the police to please help me get my money back from the nights that i had paid because the managers attitude was unacceptable and unprofessional plus, I didn't feel safe there at all. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone, Your personal items should not be missing from your room, thats just unacceptable.

We booked this hotel for it is almost 4 stars, though it has the worse customer service and lies about their prices! We booked a bundle that includes this hotel, 2 rooms for 4, and when we arrived after our flight, they said that our reservation was canceled saying that the owner made a mistake while setting the prices! And that we should pay extra almost 250$ which was out of our budget and then suggested a hostel which was totally unprofessional with a rude tone of voice! After almost more than half an hour discussing this issue with then and calling the \"owner\" we settled to pay extra 60$ to stay in one room all 4 of us, and it was next to the hotel not in it! In the room they had no toilet paper and no napkins at all so we bought our own, and one night we had no towels! The cups where so dirty with spots of old coffee in it! The spoons weren't even washed, they were put in the drawer all dirty! They barely cleaned the room during our 5 nights stay, only the last night they cleaned it and they made it even worse, they threw a bag of dirty clothes which they said they thought it was garbage! And many many small more details like they frowned at us whenever we pass... etc

Doesn't deserve three star hotel

The 1st room was in the basement , no air flow , upgrade to a bigger one. Room wasn't prepaired well. No heater , no mini bar, rooms are not sound proof, no slippers. No elevator. No services at all. Even water is not available in the hotel. Cleaning the room on daily basis should be requested. This is the review of blue istanbul hotel , taksim. The one in cemberlitas is even worse.

When I got to the hotel. I was told that my room wasn't ready there was a problem. So they put me in another room and said next day we will put you in the room you booked. The next day same thing happened the room wasn't ready but it was getting worst they say to me they will charge me extra but it wasn't even my fault in the first place. Bahattin who is the manager of the hotel I thought his customer service was so poor at first before I even flew to turkey he emailed me saying he can send a cab to pick me and my family up he was helpful on email but face to face his customer service was absolutely rubbish if I had known that would happen I would never have booked that hotel in the first place it also has a very steep hill. If you are going with family I would recommend to avoid because it gets so hard to walk up especially with push chair. Before I booked the hotel no one mentioned about the steep hill so I would like to clarify that hill is the worse. If Bahattin emails you and says will book a cab for you please don't do it, just book the cab yourself he charges you more when I came back to London I booked the cab myself it was a lot cheaper. Nice hotel some of the staff were nice and helpful but management are poor they will do everything to charge and take money off you.

There was a leakege on the bathroom that was not fixed by the staff, even with continuous claims. They were not worried about it.
Besides that the elevator was under maintenance and the hotel is located in a very noisy area.
We have the worse problem when leaving the hotel. We schedule the Shuttle to the airport with the hotel by 5:30am and when we went down to check out there was no one at reception and the doors were locked. We made noise, calles for people but no one appeared and the shuttle was outside waiting for us. We were forced to skip the hotel windows not to miss the flight with our heavy luggages!

I do not understand why this hotel has received good reviews? Of my entire two week trip to Turkey, this was the only place I regretted staying at.

*The Lobby and Check In
-The furniture is so old and dumpy & dirty, it looks as if they found the miss matching sofa's in some back lane.
-The walls have missing chunks of paint/plaster. It has been that is been that way for a long time.
-The lobby did not look clean, very worn out with trashy furniture.
-When we check in, the person at the front desk was bothered, as I was interrupting his personal phone calls. The A/C did not work. It was an effort to get him upstairs to look at it. His phone call were more important. After looking at it for 10 seconds he told me to get someone else to fix it the next day. Later I discovered that the remote was not set it the right position, he could had sorted this out if he cared.

*The Dinning Area & Breakfast
-All the dining chairs look as if they were found in some back lane. The dinning chairs with the reddish color cushions are totally worn out, one sinks deep into the cushion as sits in a hole.
-The dinning area is open to the kitchen, so one could see the staff were doing a very poor job on washing the cups & plates. More of a rinse then a wash.
- The walls in the dinning area are scratch-up and dirty

It is true you get what you pay, and the price and location are perfect if you buy through internet. However, we were placed in a room that was in the basement and under the dining area; it has windows facing the street and the noise can be a problem either in the morning or late at nigh. If you are requesting a shuttle from/to the airport, be clear how much and when you will pay; we were asked to pay 75.00 USD at the end even though 2 of the times we were picked up were through other agencies/packages. We ended paying 25.00 only for the time we were picked up after arriving to the airport. Overall, this is a hotel you could consider if you are looking to vacation on a budget.

Great location!

I got a room with a seaside view and it was great. I could open the doors to get fresh air. The breakfast buffet was very filling and the staff was attentive to our needs. They arranged for an easy airport transfer. Although a bit pricey, it beats having to lug all the luggage around on the tram.
This was our first visit to Istanbul, and we plan on returning. There was so much to see and do. With our Lonely Planet guide on Istanbul in hand, we explored the city. I highly recommend this hotel.

Ok but can't recommend on this occasion

The hotel was difficult to find despite printing the directions via google maps > the lack of local road signs and complex network of street makes the initial search difficult. However when you do find the hotel its in a great local a short walk from the main retail areas and attractions.

The room was a good size and clean although the towels could definitely do with an upgrade. Unfortunately I was only able to get warm water at best during my stay but mostly cold showers which really impacts on your day. The Wifi was really bad in my room (basement) making any kind of browsing frustratingly impossible despite connecting to different floors networks - although all staff in reception were streaming movies and videos whenever I passed through so there has to be a strong connection there.

All in all a less then adequate experience, given the choice I wouldn't stay again.

Great hotel close to the Blue mosque

This experience was great from the start all the way to the finish. What I noticed and appreciated greatly about Istanbul is the unique hospitality that the people take pride in providing . This hotel greeted my girlfriend and I with traditional Turkish tea and answered all of our questions . They provided prompt transport to the airport on 3 occasions . Breakfast was great as well, this hotel pays good attentions to detail, is located close to many attractions . I highly recommend this hotel .

Family of 6 1st night we were given rooms on the 1st floor and the 5th floor we were expecting the rooms to be next to each other.They change are room for us the second night which was really good of them,but they moved all our things whilst we were out. When we came back there was no one on the reception to notify us and we wenter into our original room,luckily there was no one in the room or they would have got a scare. We realised what had happened straight away as the other person's items were in the room.Apart from that the hotel was really good for the price we paid and breakfast and location was good.

It was an amazing experience having stayed at Blue Istanbul Hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful especially Bahattin! The location of the hotel is hard to find but once you're there all will be great! I do recommend staying in this hotel big time.

Nice Budget Hotel

This is a great hotel for the budget conscious. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They will hook you up for airport shuttle service for a very reasonable price The room was a tad bit small but was clean and comfortable. The only con is that it is located on a very side street. Taxi drivers were confused as to how to get to the location. It's within walking distance to major sites but the walk can be a bit scary at night if you are alone. All and all, I was pleased with my stay at this spot.

Perfect little Hotel

Blue Hotel just exactly what we wanted. They have a great continental breakfast it was excellent. The rooms are small, but beds are comfortable. It is also a great location for all the main sites, it's walking distance. They have a great staff, especially the manager.

Decent place in an great location

This hotel was a great value. A decent enough place, and particularly good for the price. You are about 5 minutes from the Blue Mosque/Hagia Sophia and about 15-20 minutes from other Sultanhamet locations. It was also far enough away from other hotels that the rooms are peaceful. We had a great view of the Bosphorus and the breakfast was a nice surprise.

Booked this hotel after seeing the good reviews as well as the rating on trip advisor, which has since dropped dramatically.

The pictures on the website are misleading to start with. The area is not great and the outside of the hotel looks nothing like what is illustrated. I was fortunate enough to have a room with a lovely sea view. The rooms are small, but adequate. The bathroom is small and there is a lot of mould on the wall and ceiling.

There seems to be an issue with the rooming allocation. What you book and pay for is not what you get. By the time you reach the hotel, to escape is too much effort so it's easier just to pay..

Sad, because there is potential. Would I stay here or recommend? Absolutely not!

Great value for your money

This hotel is walking distance to most of the tourist attractions in Sultanahmet and the tram system though there is a hill if you are not in reasonably good shape (for a senior). Staff are friendly and the reception staff speak English well. We had our best sleep Of our 10 days in Turkey here due to the excellent air conditioner and room darkening curtains :)

Amazing hotel with amazing staff.

This was the last stop on my month long euro-trip and I am very glad I stayed here! I didn't realize that I would be in Turkey during Ramadan, but it was no problem at all, even with the crowds of people flooding into town. The service was amazing and the staff was spectacular. I guess my only complaint would be that the bed was a little stiff, but other than that the room was top notch! The bathroom had an amazing walk-in shower, and the satellite tv and wifi provided entertainment when I was tired of walking around the city (though there was only 2 english channels which both aired mostly detective shows, which I actually like. Channels 38 and 41 I think)... The staff was super friendly, offering to help me with any and everything needed, from tours to a shuttle to the airport, which was only about $3... I highly recommend this place! And the breakfast was AWESOME!!!

Good budget hotel

It's a great place to stay for a short visit. The staff is very helpful and most of the rooms are fine. My only hesitation is ; don't book a budget room, as the fine print says 'in the basement' and that is for real ! In general, all hotels in that part of Istanbul are overpriced but for a week or less, who cares !

the way to go to this hotel is very simple，only turn 3times，just find the Chinese restaurant you can find this hotel. the big surprise is the breakfasted with plenty in such a cheap price. usually others offer bread egg cheese olives tomato，this one offers not only that but also fruit cake mut milk sausage regular coffee，great help for me。and the staff is friendly funny easy going. the location of this hotel is insider，so i can hardly hear noise。 bathroom is the best of the room！anyway it's a very nice hotel for this price（ i booked it on sale 57% off）

Two thumbs up for a small hotel!

Stayed at The hotel blue Istanbul twice. The hotel is super clean, fresh white clean bed sheets & towels with amenities, coffee and tea with electric kettle provided. A room may be small but it is in excellent condition with very clean bathroom and good strong hot shower.
Hotel surrounding is commercial/residential but it is like that in Istanbul.
Its location is perfect with walking distance to the main sites; Ahya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cistern, Grand Bazaar where it is linked to Spice market via Mahmutpasa Yokusu that is full of venders and shops.
Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets close by.
People at the hotel are very helpful and hospitable, especially Ebru. The hotel can help book all kind of local tours and transfer. Super convenient!!!!

Had a reservation, but they said they were full.

I arrived at the hotel at 1AM after traveling for more than 35 hours, and instead of being given the room that I reserved on Hotels.com, I was told that I had to be transferred to their second hotel, as there were no more rooms available. I was told that a man would drive me to the new hotel, and it would take only 15 minutes. This made me fear for my safety as a female traveler. I asked for a business card, or some info on the second hotel, and the front desk man was unable to provide me with any information, and instead said \"the car is outside waiting for you.\" After informing him that I did not trust a strange man in a country where I did not speak the language, to take me to a hotel that I had zero information on, especially after 1AM in the morning, he showed me the new hotel's website. Reluctantly I agreed to leave (It was either that, or find a new hotel at 2AM)but the drive to the other place took about 25 minutes (not the 15 that was promised). As I had scheduled a tour to pick me up the following morning from Hotel Blue at 7AM, I asked the driver to come back at 6:30, to bring me back to Hotel Blue from the new place. The driver agreed, and said that he would. I did not get settled into the new place until 2:30AM. The room was clean, & new but very small. 7ft by 10ft. & located on the 5th floor with no elevator! 5 flights of stairs at 2:30 in the morning, after traveling for 35+ hours. Of course at 6:30AM, the driver did not come back.

Great place to stay

I returned here for a few days on my way out of Turkey, and all of the staff somehow remembered me 20 days later! The manager was really nice and gave me a free room upgrade from a budget double to a suite, which was such a nice room.

The rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished, breakfast is one of the better I've had in 10 hotels in Turkey, location is perfect to see the sites, and the staff goes above and beyond.

the hotel is new and items in it are also new. Really enjoyed the staff, not only helpful but friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Location is excellent but it takes a while to know your way around the streets which are narrow and go at many angles. Convenience store open till 11pm just around the corner. Many interesting and inexpensive restaurants nearby. Pick up service to and from the airport for a reasonable charge. Hope to go to Istanbul again and will stay there again. bk

The bed had only one sheet over the mattress and the blanket over it, so when I asked for the other one sheet, the guy who runs the hotel told me he \"is in charge of 8 hotels in the area\", but doesn't know even that a bed has two sheets.
I don't know about the turkish bed uses, but I guess there are some international conventions about hospitality, specially the bed that is the reason of going to a hotel and don't sleep in a chair.

Best kept secret in Sultanahmet, Istanbul!

I was looking for a convenient place to stay so I could see sights like Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, etc. This hotel was great for location. On top of that, the hotel staff were the best. They are young, great at what they do, proficient in English, and helpful to the extreme. I even got multiple e-mails before I arrived in Istanbul, with helpful directions for getting to the hotel from the airport, and even an offer for airport pickup. The staff let me leave my luggage at the hotel after I checked out, so I could do another day of sightseeing without worrying about my luggage. And the free Turkish-style buffet breakfast? The best! For an affordable stay in a comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff, I highly recommend Hotel Blue Istanbul.

Excellent location!

We stayed 5 days in Sultanhamet in Istanbul. The hotel is literally a few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. All the tourist visiting places are close by. We upgraded to the sea view room which was very worth doing.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning, however, it does get boring eating the same food as the buffet choice was the same each day. The staff are very friendly, only a few speak good English though. The rooms were cleaned every day, the shower room is very clean as well. Overall it was a lovely experience and we would definitely recommend and we would stay there again.

After a mixup with booking the staff was very helpful in giving us a suite that suited our needs. The room was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful. As a bonus, the internet was super fast. I would stay here again.

This hotel is a bit hard to find and is on a run-down street but it's right near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, and a few minutes away from the tram stop so convenient location in Sultanahmet. Hotel is small but rooms are good as long as you don't go for budget room in basement.

room was terribly small, we couldn't even open up our suitcases. hotel staff didn't care a bit, the \"balcony\" is rarely big enough to stand on, they made us pay minibar consumption we didn't use (we didn't even open up the minibar, they made us pay various drinks)... breakfast was okay I guess.

The perfect place

The hotel has the best location for visitors to Istanbul. The major sites are close by and easily accessible by foot. Most outstanding to me was the management and staff. I have traveled extensively and have never found more caring , hospitable and accommodating people, always doing little extras for you, like getting you apple tea or offering help with plans or transportation. It is very affordable and well kept.

The hotel seems to be designed and run by people who have never traveled. There are all the things you might expect in a hotel but nothing is quite right. Take for example the tea and hot water heater. How nice to have a hot water heater, except that there is nowhere to plug it in. You have to unplug the mini fridge and set the thing on the floor. Odd. When you enter the room you put your room key in a holder that turns on the electricity. This means the fridge is never cold and your devices can't charge unless you're in the room. The proximity to interesting things was great. Right next to huge and ancient buildings, near food, near the Grand Bazaar. The immediate surroundings were more sad. There were several abandoned and crumbling buildings that only housed cats. The airport shuttle can't get down the road because it is too narrow and steep. I feel like this place has great potential to be a comfortable and affordable place to stay, but I'd suggest trying someplace else. Lots of hotels around this area in this price range and maybe there is a better one. The bed was good, the shower was hot, soaps and clean towels. Feels kinda stupid to complain when those basics are covered. Elevator works.

Unprofessional staff, scary stay

We arrived on a late flight and the hotel staff arranged transportation from airport to hotel - this went by very smoothly. When we arrived, everything looked great - there were some pleasant guests and we were excited to lay down and rest from our 17 hour flight. However, this was not possible because the room we had paid for a few weeks prior was \"having some problems\" and we would not be able to stay there. Furthermore, we were asked to pay for the room, arguing they did not receive any money from Expedia. Thankfully, I had printed receipts with the amount paid. The young man in reception begrudgingly took our receipt and assured us we were going to stay at a partner hotel down the street. This turned out to be a friend's house who was trying to turn his house into a hotel! This other hotel was not close to any other hostel/hotel so we stayed there, scared, with a person who barely spoke English (very cordial, though) until morning. We were then escorted back to the hotel where we were told we could eat breakfast but our room would be ready until the afternoon. Since we were leaving for another city the next day, we decided to just let it go and come back in the afternoon for check in. The room we were given was moldy, with lots of humidity but ok. We were relieved to leave the next day. When we came back to Istanbul 2 weeks later, we stayed elsewhere.

I was given a suite with a room, which was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that didn't work was the TV, which seemingly only had one channel that kept playing Persian songs. The front desk said the cable connection was having difficulties, so I was stuck with Persian pop during my stay.

Excellent quiet hotel close to tourist sights.

Excellent! Very comfortable room. Restaurants and shopping within 3-4 blocks. Hotel staff extremely helpful. Hotel offered by email an airport pick up transfer service, which was inexpensive in a luxury van. Quiet location with a small snack shop/fruit market nearby. Very nice breakfast. Metro station about 3-4 blocks away. Major tourist sites within walking distance up to about a mile. Great location. Nice patio to sit out in front. Sheets and bed very comfortable. Wonderful! This hotel was exactly like the photos advertised.

Unhelpful staff and bizzare room arrangement

staff asked to come in our room twice, both times when we were sleeping, to \"check something.\" It turns out we had the hot water heater in our room (basement room) for the entire hotel and it kept beaking. There seemed to be a complete lack of privacy and decorum. No discount given to us for the inconvenience. Will not stay here again.

A hidden gem...if your taxi can find it

If you're flying into Istanbul from Sabiha Airport you may want to consider that this place is extremely far from that airport (70+kil). Taxi drivers will not know how to find it and it is difficult to reach the hotel directly because the expedia number listed is incorrect. NOW don't let that discourage you because it is a hidden gym of a hotel (more like a bed and breakfast). It took two hours to get from the airport to the hotel (no traffic just could not find it). It is located in the old city in a very charismatic neighborhood very close to the Grand Bazaar and some amazing Mosque. The staff were extremely nice and attentive...genuinely nice. You are served traditional Turkish breakfast, always offered fresh coffee and tea, and within walking distance to some very beautiful sights.

a hotel in the old town

The hotel does not have coffee or tea maker in the room. It is inconvenient for us to go to the breakfast room for hot water or tea each time. The room 101 we stayed is in a basement. It has a clogged and very slow floor drain when taking a shower. The toilet paper holder was broken since beginning.

The hotel provides a list of opening/closing time for most visiting places. We found it is useful to schedule visiting places on any different day.
