This hotel was great for our 4 night stay in Barcelona. Easy to wallk to shopping, attractions, restaurants are everywhere. We walked to the beach, olympic stadium.......Its not uphill so 30 to 60 mins walks was easy. You can stop at tons of places in-between. It was easy to get a cab or uber from the location and if you need to do laundry theres an awesome laundromat next door. Tons of convenience stores, restaurants and take away within minutes. Staff was very friendly and rooms were comfy. The toilet situation was a bit weird. Its right in the middle of the room, closed in by glass so not super private but it wasnt a huge deal just strange to us north Americans

The layout was good for three people, but the bathroom has little privacy, so make sure you are at home with your roommates. Our sink was plumbed backwards so we often got a mouthful of hot water after toothbrushing.
The pool being closed was disappointing, but it looked beautiful if you go in the summer. The location was great. We walked and trained everywhere.

Great location & cleaning crew. Bed was very comfy (from mattress) which I like. No free coffee or tea or any drinks as stuff in the mini fridge we’re all not included. Bath soap, body wash & basic kitchen stuff are good, enough to make a meal for 2 people. Specially with all the good fresh mercats around!

Great restaurants, chinese, japanese and filipino food. Love the pool. My family enjoyed our holiday because we have a nice place to come home to. Stayed there for 6 nights.

The hotel was a very nice place to stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was very clean. It was a little weird having glass walls for the bathroom even if they were frosted. It also would’ve been nice to be told about how the lights work as it was a first time international travel. Very conveniently located to many shops and food places. Such a beautiful area and city!

Ako Suites is in a perfect location, lots of food and drinks within walking distance. It's between the Gothic Quarter and Gracia which we really appreciated.
The staff was helpful and welcoming. The place needs a few touch ups and I would say if you are traveling with anyone you are not comfortable with, beware that only a small pane of sandblasted glass separates you from the rest of the bathroom and space. Make sure you're comfortable with who you go with.

This hotel is actually nice and clean. The only reason for the 3 star rating was the fact that we were about to miss our transportation when we left because of staff negligence. I asked them twice to call a cab for the morning of departure. I asked in person 24 hours in advance and again before I went to sleep and both times they confirmed the request was there and they will take care of the cab. Only to find out that when we got downstairs ready for the cab, there was no cab and the front desk person called and said that they have no cabs available for 15 minutes.
We ended up walking/ running with luggage to the train station that luckily was 1.5 miles away. I don’t even want to think what we would have done if we had to go to the airport.
This experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and cannot give more than 3 stars. A whole vacation could have been ruined but for our good physical condition to run to the train station.

Excellent staff, very accomodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable. One staff recommended a restaurant around the corner called La Flauta, excellent seafood and service. We had 2 rooms and with 4 minors, one was handicapped, hotel was accesible for handicap people, able to use the wheelchair easily. Overall, very satisfied with our stay. Will stay again at Ako Suites, if ever in Barcelina again.

We got a room by the elevator which was very noisy. The room couldn’t be locked from the inside so housekeeping entered without warning. The shower is made of glass and located in the middle of the room which was uncomfortable. Apart from that the location is pretty good and the service as well.

The best hotel we had during our 2 weeks stay in Barcelona/Mallorca, even though our stay at Iberostar Alcudia Park is also very good. Staffs is helpful and treat us nicely. Room is clean. The house keeping team did a very good job every day . I had a very early check out because of our flight and the process is pleasantly handled. The receptionist call the taxi at exactly right time and the trip back to the US is quite enjoyable partly because of that. Thanks guys

The hotel is convenient to various metro stations and there is a lot going on in the area. The room was clean, but needed some maintenance. We were in a room near the elevator and people coming in/out could be loud, even late at night. They charge for coffee pods, which seemed a little cheap. Overall just OK.

The Venezuelan woman at the front desk was wonderful throughout our visit—my apologies for not asking her name. Beautiful common areas. Although rooms do have stovetops and supplies, they are not “ideal” for cooking as they are really just one space divided into living areas. Steam from the shower permeates the entire space as do cooking smells. There is a TV in the living area, but it is ceiling mounted at a height that would strain your neck unless you were laying down. The space works best for eating if you bring pre-prepared food. Very convenient area though.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay here. The room was bright, well lit and well laid out with good quality bathroom fitments. When we requested an extra item in the kitchen (a kettle for morning cups of tea!), the hotel staff were happy to oblige and quick to get that sorted. Cleaning service was efficient and unobtrusive and the staff generally were helpful and welcoming at all times. We ended our visit really happy with our choice of accomodation, feeling that it had enhanced our enjoyment of our trip.

I thought the location was good, walkable to the metro and many restaurants and shops. A short walk to La Rambla. the staff was very helpful and so friendly. To start, this hotel is in a great location within the city. One of the main plaza’s is within walking distance, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes of the hotel. For location, I would give this hotel 5 stars.
The front desk staff was friendly, however not as accommodating as I had hoped when an issue with a cockroach arose. A few years ago, I lived in Barcelona for 6 months, and have been back every year since and have never had an issue with any sort of bug or roach where I have stayed.
The second night of my visit around 11:30 PM, a cockroach ran across the floor in my room. Obviously I wasn’t thrilled, and my girlfriend was less than happy to say the least. I took a video as well as a photo of the bug and then brought it to the attention of the front desk. I was handed a bottle of cockroach spray, told to spray the bug and that there were no rooms available that night to switch to. After going back to my room to spray the bug, I inquired about switching hotels and was informed that it would not be possible because their sister hotels did not have availability either. I was offered a free breakfast to compensate, with the promise that I would have a different room the next morning. I was able to switch rooms the following day, however, I really expected more from the staff as compensation, as a cockroach is not something I would expect from a 4 star rated hotel where I was paying $240+ per night. This hotel was awesome, and I’m not easy to please. Well thought out spaces, small but perfect pool with fun fountains, rare hotel rooms in a great district is Barcelona that comfortably accommodates 4 people, and did I mention the beds and bedding are top notch. Only downfall is that we parked on the street in the “blue zone” after we were told by the front desk that it would be ok and really regret not parking in their €25 parking lot up the street because we ended up getting towed and had to pay close to €200 to retrieve it! Still, I highly recommend this place.

Very nice, modern suites in very central Barcelona. The staff was friendly, professional and they had a 24-hr reception desk (which not all apartments have in these towns). Great mix of hotel style amenities such as daily maid service, cleaning etc. with apt. style kitchen (though smaller than you would get in an apt). Awesome location - 10 min walk to Plaza Catalunya / La Rambla and 5 min walk to train stations. Many cafes and markets close by.

It was totally good. The only thing i felt is the bathroom covered with glasses and ventilation. If you have a plan to use it with ur fam or friends, it could be little uncomfortable.

I got an unusually low rate for my stay in December. This is a strikingly contemporary building with a lobby that is beyond beautiful. The rooms were carefully designed with sliding doors to divide areas if desired. The bathroom amenities are high quality with giant soft bath towels and bath products. LED lighting is unique and effective. Kitchen is well-equipped.

Worst Hotel Ever - Bed Bugs
We stayed here 2 nights and left with bug bights on our body that resemble bed bugs. Aweful!! The staff are SO rude as well. This is a horrible hotel. We now have to decontaminate all of our stuff and feel disgusting. Don’t go through what we did!

Cleaning staff at this hotel do a fantastic job and agree with all the other positive comments previous comments by others.. Only negatives are the sofa in the room is uncomfortable - maybe a few more cushions would help and the lack of soundproofing between the rooms is an issue for me. I will stay here again on my next trip.

Good hotel close to Placa Catalunya
We stayed here for 4 nights in March 2014 and 'did' Gaudi. We really liked Barcelona and would like to stay longer next time. It is easy to get around by bus/metro.

Stylish and unique room with great bathroom and shower facilities. Superb location near metro, 5 min walk to catalunya and top of last ramblas. 15 min walk to Gaudi casa batillo and casa Milla. Friendly and helpful staff. Room incredibly clean. No complaints. Would definitely return.

Perfect location
I love the neighborhood of the hotel. Its where i usually find myself when i visit Barcelona. It is easy to get to the MACBA, Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas and the metro takes you everywhere.So to me this is the perfect hotel to stay at while visiting Barcelona :)

This place is all about appearances.
A lot has been spent on gimmicky decor and things which don't really add to the enjoyment of your stay (unless you're a commited consumerist, in which case you might find it pleasing).
Our 'apartment' was actually a long but average-width hotel room with a small kitchenette in the corner. The bathroom is a glass box set against one wall - another gimmick. The shower worked well, though. The window takes up the whole end wall which lets in plenty of light. The view is onto the backs of other buildings (all quite run down and scruffy by comparison). The advantage of this is that there is little street noise.
This hotel has all the atmosphere and soul of an airport duty-free shop. If you like places like this, why not try Dubai instead?

Great location near Barcelona University
A modest sized ultramodern hotel suite with small but functional kitchen. No desk per se, but usable workspace. In room Wi-fi works well. Easy walk to nearby medical center and University of Barcelona. Aerobus from teh airport stops at University Plaza (but only if you ask it to!) which is one block away. (street signs are not obvious and you may have to ask where you are!)

Very nice and clean hotel. Asked for a triple room and got one big bed and a sofa bed. Shame about the sofa bed but otherwise it was fine. Asked for a kettle and got it pretty quickly. Had a little kitchen too which was nice. Asked to check out a little later (one or two hours) but was told I couldn't, which was a bit annoying as the hotel did not seem that busy at all. Location was pretty good, maybe 15/20 mins away from La Ramblas and 5 mins away from Universidad station. TIP: ask for a room with a bath otherwise you get a see-through shower.

Great Location
Comfortable hotel room in a great location. Desk staff was not helpful in providing any information even about basic restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. Hotel staff not knowledgable even about basic transportation options to the airport. Hotel is in a great neighborhood within walking distance of almost all tourist destinations and only 2 blocks from the metro which allows easy access to the whole city. Room has refrigerator and microwave and pull out couch but beware the hotel charges an extra 40 euros per day to use the pull out couch.

A good, modern hotel with good room facilities
I stopped for a few nights mid-week and found the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and well-equipped and the general feel of the place was excellent. The hotel seems pretty new, so that means the facilities are in good order too. The hotel is reasonably central for getting to the main areas of the city. I like walking around new cities so that suited me well, if you'd rather take the Metro underground then Universitat station is a few minutes walk away. I'd recommend this hotel for single travellers, couples and possibly groups of friends - but be warned the walls to the bathroom area in my room was frosted glass...you may not want to see THAT much of your mates :) Overall, a really good hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

Wonderful location and super clean and comfortable
Loved the modern design - comfy bed - extra fold out sofa and the great staff. They were cheerful at 4 am when we could not sleep due to jet lag and could not work the coffee maker - wonderful people - great location and so clean you could eat off the floors!! We loved the coffee shop to the right around the corner - amazing eggs and bacon for 3 euro. I highly recommend the Ako for an affordable stay in Barcelona.

Really good apartment but avoid breakfast
Hotel is very pretty and clean, I loved the design. Very helpful staff. The only problem was breakfast, I asked for a breakfast for coeliacs (worth for 12 euros) and they brought a banana, 3 rice biscuits and a tea with milk.

Nifty little hotel
Cute, efficient hotel (more like hotel apartment given the kitchen area). Quite Far-East inspired in terms of having used a small space wisely. Very knowledgeable and accommodating front desk team. The only negative was that the bathroom and shower area were see-through, so if you're looking for privacy in the bathroom, this hotel won't do for you. Overall, a comfortable and very clean hotel apartment with no frills.
