The hotel is spotless.Highly recommend for that ,The cleaning team is the best.
Apart of that is a bit noisy,but the WORST part is that they are turning off the A/C during the night.

There is no AC at night. They have AC but apparently during the warmer months they only use it during the daytime. Which is no good for tourists. If you are out exploring the city all day long, the AC is available in the room. But when you come home to sleep… They shut off the AC at night!!!! Everyone should know before they book this hotel that you will not have air condition at night. If you don’t mind sleeping in the heat, then you are fine.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights at the end of our trip and it was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. We arrived late at night around 1:00am (we had already informed the hotel of our late arrival) & when our cab driver pulled up to the hotel we were sure there had been some mistake. The building was completely dark, no lights on, and looked like an apt building. We walked up and rang the doorbell twice with no answer. Panic started to set in as we stood on the street. All of a sudden a staff member appeared from behind the desk, he had been sleeping. He let us in and then proceeded to check us in in the dark. Couldn't even be bothered to turn on a light. He was strange and awkward and the whole situation was just unsettling. We got to our room and it was a bigger one than we had booked which was an upside. The room strongly smelled, and the decor was dated and drab. However, the worst part was that we had a street facing room and the windows are single paned with no soundproofing. If you value your sleep, do not book this hotel. We could hear every single street noise all night and did not sleep for the 2 nights we stayed here. A housekeeper also barged into our room one morning while I was still in bed. I would not recommend staying here at all, there are far better hotels in Barcelona.

Comfortable hotel - stayed in a triple which was good for our purposes. Two twin beds together for my husband and me and then another twin bed for our daughter. Close to the metro and easy to get a taxi nearby as well. Seemed like a safe area and pretty centrally located.

Beautiful property and rooms. Great breakfast. Very pleased. Will return and recommend. Best part is they have lockers for luggage for days when you arrive or leave.

The hotel was very nice. We arrived several hours early of check in time. They had a room with lockers to stow our luggage. They had several lounge areas that were very nice. They served a breakfast everyday but it was about $13 per person. We didn’t use it because there was a yummy bakery around the corner. At night the street noise filtered in but by midnight it was quiet. Great location 3 or 4 blocks from the Hop on Hop off bus stop.

Our room was very nice, cleaned daily with an excellent shower. All you need on a city break, where you are generally out most of the day. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Book taxis via them, it was cheaper. I did not use the breakfast facility, but it looked nice. The hotel is very clean and tidy and situated within short proximity to some local bars and cafes and 3 minute walk to the Universistad Metro and 20 minutes walk to The Ramblas area.

The hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms look great. The hallways are very nicely decorated. I was a little skeptical of this hotel when we checked in as the lobby was very small but I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The subway station is right around the corner too. I'll definitely considered staying here once again on my next trip to Barcelona.

A solid budget hotel

The room did not resemble the photos on the web. My room was small, yet manageable, like a small-ish bedroom. The bathroom was on an elevated platform that was one step up from the bed. Thus, the bathroom was not accessible for people in wheelchairs, and it was difficult to access for people with knee or leg issues. The bathroom was clean and well-maintainted, and the shower was powerful and hot.

There was lots of food at breakfast, and it was open for three solid hours, from 7:30 to 10:30. It didn't have much variety. I don't think it's worth 8 euros a day, when there are plenty of cafes around the corner.

The hotel took the COVID precautions. At breakfast, guests were encouraged to wear their masks and plastic gloves were provided for people to handle all plates, utensils, and glasses. When you sat down, you could take these things off and enjoy your meal.

Also, if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the street. There's a bar/nightclub next to the hotel. It is popular and well-attended until curfew every night at 1am.

All in all, the hotel was fine. I've stayed in very high end hotels and youth hostels. This is a solidly good budget hotel. You get everything you need and there's no muss or fuss.

Cozy property close to Las Ramblas and Plaça Catalunya. Front desk staff were super helpful and responsive. Rooms are modern, clean, and mostly quiet, though you can sometime hear what's going on outside your room door. Recommend staying in a room towards the inside or back of the building if you want some peace and quiet, otherwise you'll hear everything going on outside on the street.

Good value for money

The location of the hotel was good. The receptionists were nice. Sometimes the front door of the hotel was locked so we had to wait for the receptionist to unlock it (might take a while). The room was tidy but very warm, we couldn't adjust the temperature. Please Acta Splendid if you are reading that make sure that the guests can control the thermostat in the future. There was no view from our room. The breakfast was €10 so good value for money. The only issue was that every morning guests and cleaners were openning and closing room doors so loudly so we couldn't have a lying in bed.

The room looked really good, new furniture, very clean, location very close to the subway, excellent staff, good breakfast for 10euros/person, we had a very nice stay.

The only downside is that the walls are really thin and you can hear the conversations (and everything else) from the other rooms. The windows are not soundproof, it’s like you’re sleeping with the windows open an you can hear every car passing by.

If there was one thing it was the walls are really thin so I could hear coughing and talking and doors slamming which woke me a few times. If you are a deep sleeper it’s not problem I guess. Let me start with saying the staff was great and helpful! The 24 hour staff was really amazing while we were there as we were getting in at odd times everyday. The cleanliness is questionable... they often changed our bedding which sometimes has rips in them, small pee stains, and small amounts of blood. No it wasn’t make up. The cups were never cleaned or replaced. The walls are externally thin. You can hear everything within the hotel rooms and the doors were always slamming in the hotel.

Hotel is located on a smaller more quiet side street yet near popular shopping , bars and restaurants. Receptionist desk area is small. I would call this a boutique style hotel. Staff spoke English but lacked some customer service skills( curt at times). There is a elevator to room. We had a nice room for 4 people. Room has all the amenities you would need. Bathroom is nice, double sink. The airconditioning can't be controlled yourself. You have to call the front desk to tell them what temperature you want for room.Outside room door had a piece of paper for room number. Staff said someone took the room number I guess as a souvenir? wifi sketchy at times.

My only beef is kind of major. The faucet in the bathtub is super sensitive, and moving it just a tiny bit instantly turns the water SCALDING HOT! It was just my foot under the water but it hurt for half an hour afterwards. If I had pushed the knob just a bit further, or (yikes) been standing under the shower, it could have been a SERIOUS INJURY! Other than that, the hotel is great, but seriously people--you have to get that fixed!!!

Enjoyed our stay. To start our room was at back of hotel away from any street. Hotel has some ongoing renovations but didn't interfere with a good nights sleep also to compensate for construction the hotel gave us a bottle of wine. Beds very comfortable. Desk staff very friendly and competent. Lots of hot water for showers. Very well situated to public transport and the airport bus which is an amazingly efficient service and a steal at 5.90euro one way. Quite a few restaurants and bars within area and it is only a 10 minute walk to Placa Catalunya. Rooms are a bit worn but hence the construction that said they were very clean. For the price a very fair deal. Didn't have the breakfast so can't speak to that. Good wifi in room and a fridge. Would I stay again yes. May I suggest for anyone visiting Barcelona to do a day trip to Sant Sandurni d'Anioa in the Cava region. There is a special deal called the Freixetren that includes Freixenet tour and tasting with return train tickets. Go to Freixenet website book tour no credit card required. Buy ticket at train station for train and a voucher will be issued for Freixenet tour but make sure you have a confirmation for the tour first. Don't normally do hop on hop off bus but the ones in Barcelona very good and you get a very comprehensive tour. At slower pace try one of the walking tours lots of good info and entertaining. Barcelona great place enjoy.

Rooms old fashioned which would have been OK except for very hard bed and bad smell coming through the air conditioning system. The latter coloured everything! Staff very helpful so it is a pity they were let down by the facilities. Perhaps this will improve with refurbishment.

On our arrival we were told that there is just one room available. It was basically a utility room with a bathroom. very noisy and we could hear each time other guests were using flushes in their bathrooms. around midnight another noise was coming from other room as if some motorbikes are passing around.
Next morning a very nice lady got us to a new room. It was better than previous one, but no natural light! It was dark and we had to turn on the lights all the time. There were no slippers in the room and when asked for them, were told that the room is clean enough to go bare foot and they never provide slippers to any guest anyway. they changed the bath towels though (each time we put them on the bed), but I noticed that they just fold the face towels back to their place in the bathroom (one of face towels had marks on it and the towel stayed in our room till last day). We were in there for almost a week and kind of regretted our choice of hotel. Most probably last time we tried Hotel's.com for booking.

Won't let any guests stay

As a single person if I want to bring a guest into my room (friend, date, whatever) I think I have the right to! I'm paying for the room! The hotel refused to let me have a friend stay the night even though I was the only person in the room. The hotel staff was rude and clearly anti-gay! Do not stay here if you are gay! They discriminate against you!

The room appeared clean but on closer scrutiny there was hair on the bathroom counter and a pair of dry eye contacts as well. The window in the room opened to a blank hotel wall. The room we were given was not ideal for three persons. It was very cramped.

A Sweet Find In Barcelona!

Last minute trip to Barcelona, and Splendid Acta Hotel worked out great. Terrific staff. Check-in was easy. Multi-Lingual staff. Nice room with a refrigerator. Very comfortable queen-size bed. Did not notice any street noise. A/C quirky, in that you must call front desk to change the temperature. They were very responsive. Fabulous location at Univeristat. Close to Placa Catalunya. Easy walking distance to La Rambla, Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic) and the marina. Straight shot from the airport on Aerobus (about 7 Euros 1-way). Cool restaraunts, bars and coffee shops very close. Would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic hotel in central Barcelona

We booked a weekend break in Barcelona. I had been a few times but not in this neighbourhood. However I was more than pleased, both with the hotel and the area. Sant Antoni is very central and everything is only a short walk away. The local markets on Saturday for food, and the book/DVD market on Sunday are well worth visiting.

The room is a good size for a short break, and the bathroom well equipped. Despite being in such a central location, our room was facing a courtyard and extremely quiet from street noise.

There are also so many great food options only a few minutes walk away. And the Metro for Universitat is also close by.

Arrived at Hotel and dealt with immediately. Allocated room and from there it all went very well., Hotel is in good position for everything we wanted to do. We had a very nice stay at Acta Spendid sept.11th to 15th 2015. Very clean and comfortable room. Pleasant staff. We had breakfast 2 of the 4 mornings we were there because it is so convenient. Food was good and plentyfull. All in all, we would recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.

Great location, clean room but HORRIBLE smell

A little about us: We are avid travels and pretty low maintenance. All we look for is a clean decent room in a good location. No frills needed!

The hotel was perfectly located near the Plaza Catalunya so we were able to walk everywhere which was great. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. They provided us with a map as well as directions to the attractions that we were interested in visiting. The room was basic and lacked accessible outlets (there was only one) however it was clean. The reason for our low rating with regards to comfort and cleanliness is because there was an EXTREMELY strong smell of sewage coming from the bathroom that engulfed the entire bedroom even with the bathroom door closed. The staff came to the room and tried to pour some cleaners into the drain but to no avail. We were told that the hotel was fully booked so could not change rooms. It's a shame really. Our review would have been much higher if not for the putrid smell. Thankfully we only stayed for one night.

Great Value and Location

We enjoyed our stay there. Great location and the air-conditioning worked great! It was a HEATWAVE in Barcelona. We would have liked to have had a fan to drowned out the noise in the hallway. So we went and bought our own and left it there at the hotel. Hopefully they can use for other guests.
Everything was clean. Breakfast buffet was complete and well priced. WE used their car service because we were a family of 5 and needed a large van to get around. We would stay there again.

4 nights (pros & cons) - recommended hotel

We stayed for 4 nights (long weekend).
Pros: Service great, Location great (right next to subway & not far from buses to the airport, Price/performance great, clean and friendly staff
Cons: 1. There was no safe in the room, we had to move to a room with a safe and two twin beds. 2. There was an extra 0.70 Euro tax per day per person (not included). 3. AC is managed by the front desk, if you want to adjust it, you need to call the front desk.
Overall: this is a great hotel. solid 3 star hotel. good location. clean. very good price for value. recommended.

Barcelona City Break (April 2015)

I visited Barcelona for the first time in early April 2015 with 2 girl-friends (ie. 3 of us) and we stayed for 3-nights at the Acta Splendid. The hotel was easy to locate and close to the City centre. We had to change rooms after 1 night as the room allocated - although large and roomy - was smelly and very stuffy; the only window opened onto an internal void, our room was on the 3rd floor but we couldn't see the sky so there was no air movement and, being only April, the aircon was not switched on. We were moved to an outside room which was lovely and bright and fresh, a bit smaller but OK. But then we had road and people noise until quite late at night so our sleep was rather disturbed. The décor was a bit tired but the bedroom was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious, and there was lots of hot water. We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the breakfast.

Great location! The hotel provides water kettle on demand. The only problem is that if you have a noisy neighbor, you might have some problem.

Acta Splendid Hotel is really Splendid!

We loved this hotel. Large room, wood floors, large bathroom, fast wifi, very nice staff. Close to metro. Lots of restaurants nearby. Aptly named!

Almost perfect!

A great hotel in a great location. Except... A modern feel to the décor, which made the complete lack of sockets annoying. To charge my phone I had to drag the dresser forward and unplug the tv. The room was air conditioned but it's controlled from the reception. Although set to 20C it was absolutely freezing and we had to get them to turn it off and do without. Despite those annoying points I'd probably stay there again.
